His is an average pitcher who can get the job done. St. Louis will have Albert Pujols available and that should motivate the home team.

Vancouver is up 3-2 in the series and just won game 5 by 1-0. The two games played at Boston have been won by the Bruins 4-0 and 8-1. Tim Thomas has allowed just 1 goal at home in the series. Vancouver is a solid team and will probably win the series in seven games as the Canucks are 15-6 in the last 21 on the road but goalie Robert Luongo has struggled at times this year. It will be hard to defeat Boston at home on Monday based on the first two games played in Massachusetts.
Boston is 31-16 at home and I like the Bruins to win by 3-1 on Monday as our NHL GAME OF THE YEAR!

St. Louis at Colorado Friday
pick: St. Louis +135
I like the Cardinals at +135 on Friday night in Colorado. The Rockies are just 12-12 at home this year and only 1-10 in Ubaldo Jiminez's last 11 starts. He has allowed plenty of walks this year with 5, 1, 6 and 5 bases on balls in his last four starts.
The Cardinals have 30 wins this year, which ties the most in the majors as I write this on Thursday night. They are 16-12 on the road and look to bounce back after a 3-1 loss at San Diego on Wednesday night. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games. St. Louis leads all of baseball in batting average as Matt Holliday and Lance Berkman are in the mid-.300's and Colby Rasmus has been solid too. Albert Pujols is always dangerous at the plate.
Jake Westbrook starts for the Cards and he has an ERA of 3.12 in his last three starts and has allowed 0, 1, 5, 3 and 2 runs in his last five starts. He hasn't allowed a home run in his last six starts. The team is 6-4 in his starts and he beat Cliff Lee and the Phils in his last mound appearance.
The St. Louis bullpen is much better now after getting blown saves early from Ryan Franklin and Mitchell Boggs. Sanchez and Salas are competent relievers for the team in red.
Colorado has a history of playing well at home and Jiminez was good last year so those are reasons why the Rockies are big favorites. St. Louis isn't very good at fielding and that can hurt them. Their shortstop Ryan Theriot has made his share of miscues this year (I think Theriot is French for error.)
Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzi has been hot and cold this year. Let's hope he is cold on Friday night. The Rockies are always a threat to put up a crooked number at home.
However, I like the Cardinals at +135 in the Friday night game. GL!

The Monday night game between the Giants and the Rockies went over as the score is 7-4 in the 6th. The four home games before that reached 10, 16, 19 and 14 runs. Back in April, these two played three games at Coors Field that ended with 9, 9 and 12 runs scored.
In Monday's game, homers were hit by guys named Seth Smith and Nate Schierholtz, not exactly household names. The Giants hitters don't exactly scare you as most guys are in the mid-.200's. The Rockies are led by Troy Tulowitzi, who was hot and then cold and seems to be hitting again. Helton, Fowler, Spilborghs and Iannetta are solid at the plate.
The Rockies start Ubaldo Jiminez and he has pitched 6 overs and 0 unders this year. In his last home start he gave up 6 walks and has given up 6, 5, 4 and 4 runs in his last four times on the hill. He has given up 5, 4, 4 and 5 runs in his home starts. Sanchez has givven up 3 and 5 runs in his last start and beat the Rockies 6-3 in a previous matchup.
The ball seems to be travelling well at Colorado lately and with Jiminez on the hill. Throw in the fact that it should be 66 degrees on Tuesday afternoon, it looks like a good chance for an over.

All 4 games in Atlanta went over last year as there were 10, 9, 14 and 15runs scored. Even when they met in St. Louis there were 14, 6, 9 and 7 scored.
The Cards are scoring runs and allowing them too. Carpenter and Hudson face each other but the Cards are 0-5 in his starts. The two have combined for 6 overs and 4 unders and their ERA's are close to 5 in their last 3 starts. Hudson has 5 overs, 1 under and 2 pushes in his last 8 vs. St. Louis.
The Braves are led by Chipper Jones, Justin Heyward, Brian McCann and Dan Uggla and just scored 7 and 8 runs in San Diego. It does worry me that the Braves may suffer some jet lag after a trip out west but the Cardinal bullpen seems to give up their share of runs and all it takes is one big inning to get over the low total of 7.

Ryan Franklin has an ERA of 10.13 and I am still surprised they are still using him as he struggles to even get one man out. Mitchell Boggs has moved into the role of closer and he blew the save on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals lead the NL in batting at .290 and have 10 overs, 4 unders and a push in their last 15 overall games. The Astros have 16 overs and only 8 unders this season.
Figueroa starts for Houston and he has an ERA of 8.55 this year and 4 overs with 0 unders. Kyle McClellan is pitching well and has been a pleasant surprise for the Cards but he has only been going 6 innings in most starts. Then, it's up to the bullpen.
I was able to win my wager last night on Lance Berkman -130 vs. Lee in total bases as Lee was hitless and Berkman was 2-4 vs. his former team. Hopefully, both can do well tonight to add to the scoring.
Here are some batting averages for each team:
Cardinals Holiday .429 Berkman .385 Freese .342 Greene .333 Rasmus .315 Theriot .311 McClellan .300 (pitcher)
Astros Wallace .367 Quintero .308 Sanchez .305 Bourn .291 Pence .286 Figueroa .287 (pitcher)
St. Louis is now 13-11 and they were my future play to win over 84 games. The starting pitching has been good without Wainwright but the bullpen and defense needs work. The Houston Astro starter has an ERA of 4.50 and is not flashy but the offense of the Astros should struggle to score as the total is set for 7 or 7.5.

Atlanta won their last home game vs. Orlando by 3 points. They get points from Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Joe Johnson, Horford and Hinrich. Jason Collins will be needed to slow down Howard some and rebound.

pick: under 134 This total is anywhere from 133 to 134. Butler has had all week to study VCU and play defense vs. the Ram attack that has been scoring well due to making 3-pointers. They made 12 3's in their last 4 NCAA toruney games, coming from Rodriguez, Burgess, Skeen and Rozzell. Joey Rodriguez has not been shooting as well as the other three players but does have range.
Butler did play in the Fianl Four last year and the two scores reached 102 vs. Michigan State and 120 vs. Duke in the final. The same caoch (Brad Stevens) and players except for Gordon Hayward is still in place. Only Mack and Matt Howard scored 10+ for the Bulldogs this year.
VCU has scored 132 with Kansas, 130 with FSU before OT, 170 with Purdue and 130 with Georgetown. They totaled 105 with USC in the opener.
Butler did play a 61-54 game with Wisconsin and 60-58 with ODU as both easily went under.

over 143 Colorado can score, score , score as they averaged 154 points in a typical game with their opponent and only had a few low scoring games such as 124 points with Nebraska, 136 with Baylor and 127 with Oklahoma. They get 11 points or more from Burks, Higgins, Knutson and Relphorde.
Alabama plays good defense and just played 3 games at home but did play 143 with Miami and 141 with New Mexico. However, they played 158 points total with Alabama (81-77), 152 with Providence and 161 at Seton Hall, which is located next to New York City.
The Tide get 15 points per game from Green and Mitchell, and 11 from Releford.
The players should be nervous away from home and playing on national TV but getting to 144 or more should be doable. Colorado can make the 3's and Bama showed they can score if needed. I won't be shocked with a low score in the 130's in Madison Square Garden but like our chances for an over.

Kansas did play some overs with Texas this year and can score in bunches. VCU does have Jamie Skeen inside and the hot shooting of Rozzell and Burgess outside. Joey Rodriguez doesn't turn the ball over much and sets up his teammates but his shooting has been off.

pick: over 125.5 It may be available at 126 but I like the over. This Belmont team has 5 players that shoot close to 50% from the field yet they only average between 8 and 12.5 points a game. Why? Because the team wins their games by an average of 80-61. The most any players is on the court is just 24 minutes per game. Their scoring averagesd would be a little higher if the games were close.
Belmont did play Duke several years ago and only lost by 71-70. They played Tennessee and Vanderbilt this year so they have played some decent teams and did play Kansas last year.
Clark, Hedgepeth, Saunders, Campbell and Johnson are the scorers for Belmont and they all shoot 3's well too as 4 of them are near the 40% range. This will give them some options to score on Thursday.
Wisconsin just lost an ugly 36-33 game to Penn State in the Big Ten tourney but the three games before that reached 158, 144 and 141. The Badgers have played overs in 6 of their last 8 games.
Jon Leuer puts up 18.6 ppg and should score inside while Taylor is at 18 a game. Nankivil is next at 10 points. Their top four scorers all shoot over 80% at the line so they can score late if fouled.
