Going OVER the total here. I think this is too low. Granted, when things look too easy, they probably are. But both these youngsters clearly are going to give up runs tonight. Both teams on Over runs. Owes for Boston has gone over in 6 of his last 7 starts. Baltimore has gone over 7 of their last 8 at home. These two pitchers have ERAs approaching 7 and 10 their last 3 outings and over 5 for the season with 1.40 WHIPs. If we aren't at 10 runs by the 5th-6th, I would be shocked. 4* Total Money OVER Boston-Baltimore

Taking the 49ERS here. Yeah. I know that San Fran is suppose to be terrible and everyone, myself including is looking for Minny to take the next step. I like the Vikings. Like their HC. The defense is a top unit. They get back a HOF RB to help out their 2nd year QB. I get it. Not many reasons to find a reason to back the Niners. But I have a hard time backing a young QB on the road who has a losing record. I am not a big Kaepernick lover. You look at what SF has lost on both sides of the ball and the sidelines and it screams rebuilding. But their new HC was on this staff. He knows these guys. From what you read, and I take stuff like that with a grain of salt, the players had grown tired of Harbaugh's act. Well, I remember a Dallas team that grew old of Parcells, then went out and won 13 games for Wade Phillips. Obviously, much different teams. But, the common thread is new coach, players step up for him. Now they are home dogs? Weren't these guys on a NFC Championship Game 2011,2012,2013? Yeah, 8-8 last year in a crazy season. WR Torrey Smith can spread the field for Kap. I think TE Davis, in a contract year, will show us something. They lose RB Gore, but he wasn't getting any younger. I will take a team with a lot to prove, as dogs, vs the trendy 'it' team of the moment. 4* Money Maker SAN FRANCISCO 49ers

Taking the FALCONS here. I know that Philly is the hot pick. They tore it up in pre-season crushing teams and cruising to victories. But this is the regular season. I will be honest. I do like Bradford. I think he fits Chip's offense very well. The fact of the matter is the guy gets hurt. Falcons defense won't confuse people thinking they are looking Ravens 2000, Bears 85 or the Steel Curtain or Doomsday Defenses of the 70s. But they can't be worse. New HC Quinn takes off and immediately drafted defensive help. Now, Matty Ice has Julio Jones. The Eagles couldn't slow down Dez Bryant last year. How are they slowing down this beast? OK, not really fair to compare like that. But I think the Iggles defense is average at best. What keeps me from making this a stronger play is that I do worry about the Atlanta OL. With Roddy White old, and injured, I really like Hankerson. He had some flashes in Washington. The ex Hurricane is a big target and think is primed for a good season. So the Eagles have Bradford and ex Cowboy Murray behind center. If anyone forgot, the Philly OL was not a strong point last season. I like Murray, but I think he takes a step back here. Not really surprising based on his big year. Ryan and old HC Smith amassed a 33-7 home record before things fell apart the last 2 years (6-10). The offense wasn't the problem. And it still isn't. The new defense gets a tough test here opening night, but I think we pull out a win here. 4* Money Maker ATLANTA FALCONS

Taking the COWBOYS here. Look. I am a Jersey guy. I am in the Giants backyard. I have all the ins and outs of the NFC East. I am also a Dallas fan. That being said. There is a reason this line is where it is. Dallas is the better team. Forget about how will they replace Murray. It won't matter here. The Giants secondary is leaky. They could never stop Witten. Dez is one of the best. They have slot WRs and the best OL in the league. And for all the knocking on Romo, the guy is pretty good QB. Now, Eli has Odell. That kid is good, no doubt. But I think the Cowboys defense is better than the Giants. They can make a stop or two if needed. Dallas has swept the last 2 years and I don't see anything changing here opening night. 10* Money Bomb DALLAS COWBOYS

Taking DENVER here. I'll be honest, I was really thinking back in July that the Ravens were going to be a big play for me. But I can't do it. I look at this game and see that the Broncos are the better team. I know that Manning is a bit long in the tooth, but I just have this feeling he comes out here and turns back the clock. This is Game 1, not 14. He hasn't taken a beating yet. Kubiak was the Ravens OC before taking over as HC here. So he knows Flacco's strengths and weaknesses. I can't see Baltimore slowing down Manning and friends much here. I remember him tossing 7 TDs opening night a could years ago..( I had the under!) So game 1. Manning not hurting. Home opener. Taking TAMPA BAY here. I can't hide it. I like TB! Last year they cost us, but I think a year under HC Smith has helped this team. He will be taking over the defense and I think will have something special for the rookie on the other side of the field. Yes, we have a rookie behind center as well. But I think we have a bit more going in our skill position players than the Titans. Now playing on or against rookie NFL QBs probably isn't a recipe for betting success, but sometimes opportunity arises. Mariota never played in a system like this. At least Winston played pro-style in college. That takes time to grasp. Now, on the road. Come on. WR Mike Evans, and veteran Vincent Jackson both topped 1000 yards last year. That sure helps out a rookie at home. RB Martin looked like his rookie self this pre-season which also bolsters the young QB. 10* Money Bomb TAMPA BAY BUCS

They were brutal last year! Bengals have above average offenses and defenses. And I think that Raiders under Del Rio will improve overall, I don't think even with a new OC that the offense can pull out an upset here. 5* Best Bet CINCINNATI BENGALS

Going UNDER the total here. Clearly the Texans strength is their defense. I don't see them generating much offensive with their skill position players. For KC, they have some play-maker on the offensive side of the ball. But they aren't going to control and roll through this Houston defense. The KC d isn't bad either. They are a solid unit. I think he has the makings of a decent offense, although not entirely explosive, it will put up points. The KC defense should be able to contain this limited Texans offense. A steady diet of Charles pounding the ball will be enough to loosen up the D so Alex Smith can finally throw a WR a TD! 4* Money Maker KC CHIEFS

Taking the BILLS here. Ugh. This is tough one though. Luck is clearly the best player on the field here this afternoon. The Colts though don't impress on the road or outside, and more importantly, playing against anyone other than the pitiful AFC South. Buffalo could have a top 5 defense this year. They are that good. We know that Rex will get the guys behind him early. His act wears thin after a few years, so we know that for now, this team will run through walls for him. I look for the Bills to generate a lot of pressure upfront causing problems for Luck. This might be the biggest gift to the public if the Colts win by 20. But I think the Bills defense is to stout for that. If we get a good showing from Shady at RB, we are primed for an outright win here. 4* Money Maker BUFFALO BILLS

Taking the JETS here. I have to say. Everyone think the Jets are getting picked off here and the Browns are a trendy pick. But I'm not buying it. I look at this Jets team like an old Parcells team he had. A journeyman QB (Testaverde) comes in with some angry WR (Keyshawn) and they make some noise. Now, I am not saying Bowles is the Tuna, and Marshall is Keyshawn, but, it is similar. FitzMagic is a decent QB. He is not elite, but he isn't the bottom of the barrel. He has a good RB in Ivory. Veteran duo of WR in Decker and Marshall. A very good defense to help him out. He isn't looking over his shoulder. I think this Jets team will surprise many this season. Now the Brown have a nice looking D. They have a good OL with Thomas and Mack. But their WR corp does not impress me. Their QB, Josh McCown, the guy who went 1-10 SU for Tampa last year, does not impress me. Is RB Crowell going to motor for 150 yards today? Doubt it. They are lackluster for sure. Jets need this win as they have Indy, Miami and Philly up next. New HC will want to get a win, especially since this is a team they are clearly better than. 8* Sure Shot NY JETS

Washington has a couple guys around him to help, but I think this team is splintered. Bottom-line for me. Miami is the much better team. The offense has some nice weapons. The defense is going to be very good. They will be in backfield all day here on Sunday causing problems. If Miami doesn't win this by a TD I would be shocked. 5* Best Bet MIAMI DOLPHINS

Taking MISSISSIPPI STATE here. Am I missing something here? Sometimes when things look too good be to be true, they are. But I can't not back the Bulldogs here. We cashed last week with Southern Miss over this same group. I thought the way MSU buried them last year, will add some extra edge to those home dogs, who covered the number for us. Now we get a powerful SEC team in a home dog role. A place they are 18-3 SU since 2012. They didn't play a cup-cake last week. They had to focus on an in-state rival who was gunning for them big-time. It wasn't a sexy win, the stats weren't overwhelming. But State did what it had to do. LSU on the other hand had their cream-puff game postponed due to weather. Now, LSU, like MSU probably spent time looking ahead to this game. It is a revenger for the Tigers. But LSU does have Auburn on deck. I think the real game-play helps us out here. Won't be shocked for an out-right win, but will be happy with the cover. 10* Money Bomb MISSISSIPPI STATE

Taking PENN STATE here. Gave this winner out on podcast Wednesday night and am using it here Saturday. No way Penn State is coming out flat here. They just were beat by Temple for the first time in 70 something years! Look. They got up 10-0 on the road at Temple then the wheels fell off the bus. Plus the engine caught fire. And their windshield wipers broke. It was an epic loss. 10 sacks allowed. An offense that was extremely predictable. Lots of things working against them in that spot. Owls are improved bunch and clearly playing with a chip on their shoulder vs their big bad, in-state older brothers. And they took out years and years of frustration. Now enter Buffalo. They were 5-6 last year. But they now have a new HC. He ran a dynasty in D111 ball. This isn't D-3 football. This is the Big 10. Even with the scholarship losses that PSU has suffered, they are still a more talented team. Add in the fact they are off a horrible loss and this is a home opener. I expect the staff to add some spice to the offense and the defense to come out strong. They can't afford to take any team for granted when you played like they did last week. 4* Money Maker PENN STATE

Not really a shock. Michigan is down. But none the less Utes not that impressive on offense and need the TO edge to pull out the win. State QB Keeton is a pretty good signal caller. I think the ugly game last week helps them since Utah won't have much film to go on. Plenty of surprises possibly on tap for the Aggies to unleash. Or at least some new looks from their new OC. Taking WASHINGTON here. Washington HC knows a lot of Boise, his old stomping grounds. He has a staff chock full of old Boise coaches and will want to come in and show the old regime that he is on top of his game, even if his Huskies are double digit dogs. Look, Petersen knows Boise. His old OC is the HC. He knows the system. I think they can possibly score an outright win here. Sprinkle some money line at +375. 5* Best Bet WASHINGTON HUSKIES

Taking TCU here. Look. TCU found themselves on the outside looking in last year come playoff time. There is not a chance that they let Minny hang here. So the coaches are friendly. No coach is getting into a close game when every point and possession will be broken down in a play-off poll. Horned Frogs have high hopes this season. If TCU doesn't win by 15-20, I would be shocked. And frankly, if it less than a 2 TD win, they will be looking at the schedule and hoping for someone to slip up with a full blown loss to get back in the hunt. 5* Best Bet TCU

Taking WESTERN KENTUCKY here. Look. These guys are very good. So they are in C-USA. You don't think they are chomping at the bit to take out an SEC team. Even if Vandy is predicted as a last place team. These guys want to make a statement. The offense is very good. They have a QB who passed for over 4500 yards and a RB who rushed for over 1500. They can make you pay in the air or over land. HC Jeff Brohm's team could win the CUSA this year while 2nd year HC Derek Mason across the field is trying to build on 0-8 SEC record last year. He does have a lot of returning starters, but this is a hungry Hilltoppers team. 8* Sure Shot WESTERN KENTUCKY

Taking NORTH CAROLINA here. This is a talented bunch these Tarheels. I like the experience they bring back on the OL. The have a potential ACC POY in their QB Williams. The defense, which was dreadful last year, can't be worse. But I expect them to be a vastly improved unit as former Auburn National Champion HC Gene Chizik is ready to transform them. Spurrier will be hoping red-shirt sophomore Connor Mitch is the man for the job behind center. The offense returns just 4 starters, the defense better with 8. They will need the D to keep the NC offense limited because they can be explosive. 10* Money Bomb NORTH CAROLINA TARHEELS

Taking the SAINTS here. Grabbing another team that hasn't done much this pre-season. I know Brees lost his best option when his TE was shipped out. But I think he will be better spreading the ball around. And that is what I expect to see here. Brees getting newly acquainted with some forgotten receivers. Texans has some question marks at QB that even getting 3.5, wouldn't make me feel confident. Saints historically good at home no matter what the month. 4* Money Maker NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Taking the EAGLES here. Well, do we really expect Aaron Rodgers and GB to go hard here. The guy just lost his top WR. He is asking why do we play so many pre-season games. I think we will see him for a half. But the facts are here. Chip Kelly loves to run plays and score. His reserves love the guy because he doesn't sit on the ball. They have put up 76 points this August. Outscoring teams by 49 points! Maybe this is a sucker line laying 1. But I will take my chances with a team whose coach loves offense. 4* Money Maker PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Taking the COWBOYS here. Look. Like everyone I know pretty much Dallas at home laying points is bad business. But the fact is that this team has put up 13 points so far this August. I get it. It's pre-season. Still. Can't like what you have seen. I expect the offense to be Romo led much of the game. VIkings have been cruising this pre-season outscoring foes by 29 points. Not real shocking since they are a perfect 7-0 under Zimmer. On the flip side, Cowboys outscored by 27. They did lose both games on the road, so being home might be a good change of scenery for them. 4* Money Maker DALLAS COWBOYS

Taking the CHIEFS here. I will be honest and say I have faded Andy Reid on more than 1 occasion during pre-season action. But this KC team, especially the offense, still has some work today. I expect to see them rise up here, especially playing at home. Alex Smith still needs to get on the same page as Jeremy Maclin to really get this offense up to speed. That being said, the Titans are still rolling out a raw rookie in Mariota. Titans did INT Smith 3 times last year here in a 26-10 win. I look for a better outing by the entire KC team here tonight. 4* Money Maker KC CHIEFS

Taking ARIZONA here. I do like CMart for STL. The guy has made me money this year, both at the window and my fantasy league. That being said, I think he is hitting the proverbial wall. He is has thrown about 60 more innings than last year. You can see in his last 2 months that it might be catching up to him. On the other side of the coin we have Ruby DLR who seems to be turning it on of late. A 2,54 ERA his last 7 games. His ERA was 5.06 on July 12 and now sits at 4.32. He doesn't have the sexy wow-K factor, but I'll over-look that here. 5* Best Bet ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Going UNDER the total here. We know that Keuchal will give us a solid 7+ innings before turning it over to a good bull-pen. The wild-card here is Nova. Even if he give you his normal 6+, 3 or 4 runs, we should be in good shape. NYY has a great core of relieve pitchers that can shut down any and all line-ups. The under is 10-2-1 in 'Stros last 13 (total 7-8.5) on the road, Yanks 12-3 under last 15 (total 7-8,5) at home. Sprinkle in 12-2 last 14 under in this series and we should be sitting pretty. 4* Total Money UNDER Astros/Yankees

I know the Mets are absolutely crushing the ball right now and it is tough to fade them. That being said, sometimes you have to look at something ugly to find something truly beautiful. And a +190 home dog is something to behold in my eyes. Syndergaard hasn't been pitching that great his last 3 outings. Gone more that 5 innings just once.
