I'm on Detroit with Dave Price on the mound against an Oakland team that is really struggling to get anything going this year. The A's are on a three-game win streak, but overall they are still only 17-30, including a 6-14 record in their home games and an embarrassing 2-9 record against left-handed starters. Tuesday they face one of the better lefites in the AL in David Price. Roll the Tigers -117!

The Marlins are going to be a good fade all season long, particularly on the road where they are just 8-13 on the season. Miami doesn't have a lot going for them in any facet of the game, but their biggest weakness may just be their bullpen, which simply can't close out games when the Marlins have the lead. In 11 save opportunities this year, Miami's relievers have combined to save 5 and blow 6. Meanwhile Pittsburgh continues to improve and shows great value at home where they are now 13-9 on the season thanks to their current 4-game winning streak. Roll the Pirates -145!

The LA Angels are one of the few teams in the league that don't seem to be negatively impacted by playing on the road. Boston's offense is in a major funk right now (1.9 runs/game L7) and will be going up against the red-hot Garrett Richards (1.69 ERA over L3). Boston's Rick Porcello is also in top form right now, posting a 2.41 ERA over his last 3. In his last two starts against the Angels, Porcello has allowed just 1 earned run in 14 innings of work. Salazar also has a 4.38 ERA over 4 road starts and has given up 11 runs on 14 hits in his last two outings away from home. Chicago's John Danks is just 2-3 with a 4.42 ERA, but is 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.211 WHIP over 3 home starts (3-0 team record). Marcum looked sharp in 5 innings of relief against the Tigers earlier this season and has posted a 1.36 ERA over his last 5 minor league starts. Chicago's Carlos Rondon has had some control problems in his first two big league starts, but his 13 strikeouts in 10 innings over his first two starts provide a ton of optimism. 50* MLB *PERSONAL FAVORITE TOP PLAY* There's a lot to like about the Padres as a small road favorite with their ace James Shields on the mound against Arizona, will be sending out Jeremy Hellickson. Shields is coming off a poor start in his last outing, but has fired back to allow 2 earned runs or less in each of the previous 3 instances following a start after allowing 5+ runs. Shields figures to get plenty of run support, as Hellickson is 1-3 with a 5.20 ERA and 1.662 WHIP over 5 starts and 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA and 2.222 WHIP over 2 home starts. Hellickson is 2-12 in his last 14 starts when listed with a money line of +125 to -125, while Shields is 11-2 in his last 13 road starts with a money line of +125 to -125. Diamondbacks are also just 8-20 in their last 28 following a win over a division rival where they allowed 1 run or less. Roll the Padres -114!

Harvey has also been especially dominant on the road this season, going 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 0.818 WHIP in 2 starts (Mets have not lost a Harvey start all season). Phillies will send out Cole Hamels, who is once again off to a slow start. Hamels had looked sharp in his previous two outings before giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks in a loss at Miami in his last start. Hamels is having major control problems right now (19 walks) and has a 4.09 ERA and 1.446 WHIP over 31 career starts against New York. Roll the Mets -129!

50* MLB *PERSONAL FAVORITE TOTAL TOP PLAY* The books have set the mark too high for tonight's contest between the A's and Twins. Oakland will send out Scott Kazmir, who has a 1.62 ERA and 0.930 WHIP over 5 starts against the Twins' Kyle Gibson, who has a sensational 0.61 ERA and 0.954 WHIP over two home starts. Both offenses are also coming off a poor showing in yesterday's 2-1 win for the A's, adding more value to a low-scoring affair in this one. Roll the UNDER 8!

Both offenses get even better when facing a left-handed starter, which will be the case today. New York is average 5.5 runs/game against a southpaw starter and Toronto is averaging 5.7. Adding to this is the fact that we have two struggling starters taking the mound in C.C. Sabathia and Mark Buehrle. Smyly has a 3.37 ERA and 0.843 WHIP over 2 starts, while Porcello comes in off a dominant start at home against Toronto, where he allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings. Red Sox will send out Joe Kelly, who is poised for a bounce back start after a couple of poor outings. Kelly is 3-0 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.095 WHIP over 3 career starts against the Yankees and I look for him to have no problem out performing New York's Adam Warren, who has an ugly 7.45 ERA and 1.758 WHIP over 2 road starts. Most of the damange with Walker's ERA and WHIP came in his first two starts. He's allowed 1 earned run over his last two outings, giving up just 10 hits with 13 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings. Walker held the Astros to just 1 run on 4 hits earlier this season. DeSclafani has a 1.04 ERA and 0.769 WHIP over 4 starts and has yet to allow a run in 2 road starts. There's a good chance that trend will continue against a weak Atlanta offense. Reds should also be able to give DeSclafani plenty of run support here, as the Braves will be turning to Mike Foltynewicz for his first MLB start. 40* MLB *RUN LINE NO BRAINER* I'm confident the Dodgers will win at home with Zack Greinke on the mound and don't see any reason why LA won't win here by at least 2 runs, making the run line a better option given the big juice on the money line. Greinke is 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 0.787 WHIP over his first 4 starts and has owned the Giants, going 5-0 with a 1.99 ERA and 0.971 WHIP over 7 career starts (7-0 team record). Grienke figures to get plenty of run support, as San Francisco will be sending out struggling veteran Ryan Vogelsong, who has a 7.59 ERA and 1.312 WHIP over 2 starts. One of those includes a game against the Marlins, where he allowed just 1 run on 6 hits over 7 innings of a 4-1 win. Miami's Mat Latos will oppose Colon and is a big part of the value we are getting here. Latos has a 7.31 ERA and 1.875 WHIP over 4 starts, but has allowed 2 earned runs in each of his last 3 starts and has shown improvement with each outing. 40* MLB *TOTAL CRUSHER* We are getting some great value here with this small total, which is largely due to the fact that the Mets are sending out their ace Matt Harvey. In his last start, Harvey allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and the big key here is that he's failed to pitch past the 6th inning in each of his first two starts. New York's offense is red-hot, scoring 4+ runs in 5 straight games and I look for them to put up another big number here against Tom Koehler and the Marlins. OVER is 73-34 (68%) over the last 5 seasons (5-0 this year) in games where you have a team coming off 4 or more consecutive wins and a winning record on the season. Roll the OVER 6.5!

40* MLB *TOTAL DOMINATOR* I'm expecting a pitchers duel tonight in Los Angeles. Houston's Dallas Keuchel has been rock solid over his first two starts of 2015, allowing just 2 earned runs over 14 innings of work. He's allowed 2 earned runs or less in 2 of his last 3 starts against the Angels. LA counters with C.J. Wilson, who after a dominant first start against the Mariners, was hit hard at home by the Royals. This is a prime bounce back spot for Wilson against the light-hitting Astros, who are averaging just 1.9 runs/game at home behind a horrible .175 team average and .256 OBP. Roll the UNDER 8!

50* MLB *AL GAME OF THE MONTH* After surprisingly dropping 2 of 3 at Minnesota, the Royals returned home with an impressive 6-4 win over the A's and their ace Sonny Gray. I look for Kansas City to add to their perfect 4-0 home mark with a win on Saturday behind their ace in Yordano Ventura. Ventura has allowed just 3 runs over 11 2/3 innings with 9 strikeouts and should have no problem getting the lead to the 7th and letting their star-powered bullpen do the rest. A's are just 4-19 in their last 23 when listed as a dog of +100 to +150, while the Royals are 13-3 in their last 16 after scoring 5+ runs, 20-6 in their last 26 vs the AL West and 10-1 in their last 11 home games with a total set at 7 to 8.5. 40* MLB *TOTAL DOMINATOR* Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto held the Cardinals to just 1 earned run on 4 hits back on April 11, but he's not fared well when taking the mound in St Louis. Cueto has a 5.80 ERA over his last 9 starts away from home against the Cardinals. Michael Wacha will take the mound for St Louis. He was also the opposing starter back when Cueto faced off against the Cardinals earlier this season. While Wacha pitched well in that start, he allowed 8 runs on 12 hits in 8 2/3 innings over his last two starts against the Reds in 2014. Both offenses should benefit from having just seen these two starts, which makes this an easy play for me. Roll the OVER 6.5!

50* MLB *AL TOTAL OF THE MONTH* Too much value here on the total sitting at 7.5. Oakland's Sonny Gray is a legit Cy Young candidate and has been lights out in his first two starts of 2015, allowing just 1 run on 7 hits over 15 1/3 innings of work. While Kansas City's Jeremy Guthrie allowed 4 runs in his first start, he was able to go 7 innings and the A's have not been as strong offensively on the road, where they come in with a .290 OBP. Both of Gray's starts against KC last year ended with 4 runs or less, including a 0-1 pitchers duel against Guthrie. Roll the UNDER 7.5!

The Brewers come in averaging just 2.9 runs/game and are hitting just .229 with a .276 OBP to start the season. I look for John Lackey of the Cardinals to bounce back from a rough first start and keep Milwaukee's offense in check. At the same time, I'm not expecting a lot of runs here from St Louis either, as Michael Fiers has saved his best for the Cardinals. Fiers has a 1.40 ERA and 1.130 WHIP over 4 career starts against the Cardinals. He limited them to just 3 runs over 13 2/3 innings in his 2 starts against them last year. Roll the UNDER 7.5!

The Padres will send out Brandon Morrow, who threw 7 shutout innings in his first start, while Arizona sends out Chase Anderson, who allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks over just 5 innings in his first start. San Diego is 33-18 against the money line at home with a line of +125 to -125 and are 18-6 against the money line in their last 24 home games after a win by 4+ runs. Roll the Padres -125!

50* MLB *NL GAME OF THE MONTH* After losing their home opener 0-2 yesterday to the Rockies, San Francisco has dropped 4 straight. I believe it's created some great value here on the Giants at home in a big bounce back spot, not to mention they have a big edge on the mound. San Francisco will send out veteran Tim Hudson, who was sharp in his first start, throwing 6 1/3 scoreless innings at San Diego. Hudson will be opposed by Colorado's Christian Bergman, who is being forced to fill in for Jorge De La Rosa. Bergman made 10 starts in 2014 and posted a less than impressive 5.93 ERA. That combined with the way the overs have been hitting are going to have the public all over the OVER with this one sitting at 6.5. I believe the books are showing their hand with this total and I'll take my chances on the the UNDER in his one. Arizona's Jeremy Hellickson struggled in his first start at home, but should be in line for a bounce back start against a struggling Padres offense in pitcher-friendly Petco Park. I'm also expecting a strong showing here from San Diego starter Odrisamer Despaigne, who can in for relief of an injured Ian Kennedy and tossed 4 2/3 perfect innigns. Despaigne had a 3.36 ERA over 16 starts as a rookie in 2014, including a 2.96 ERA in four starts against Arizona (1.32 ERA in two meetings at home). Roll the UNDER 6.5!

Needless to say Cleveland will be extra motivated to get their series started off strong against division rival Chicago. I believe the off day yesterday was exactly what the Indians needed to get this thing headed in the right direction and it's worth noting that they are an impressive 7-1 in their last 8 following a day off. You also have to like the fact that the Indians will be sending out Carlos Carrasco, who started 2015 much like he ended 2014, throwing 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits with 10 strikeouts. Alex Rios, Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez, Kendrys Morales and Alcides Escobar are all hitting .360 or better on the season. I just don't think Kansas City is going to be on top of their game in this one. Cleveland will send out Zach MCallister, who is coming off a disappointing 2014 campaign, which saw him post a 5.23 ERA. However, McAllister is just two years removed from posting a 3.75 ERA over 24 starts and had a 2.77 ERA and 9.7 K/9 out of the bullpen to close out last season. Detroit will counter with newly acquired Alfredo Simon, who might not be in the rotation for long. Simon had a 4.69 ERA over August and September in 2014 and is coming off a miserable spring. 50* MLB *NL WEST GAME OF THE MONTH* This is a great price to back the Padres in their home opener. San Diego hasn't had this much excitement going into a season in quite some time and you can bet the home fans will be out in full force this afternoon. The Giants took 2 of 3 from the Diamondbacks, as they took advantage of a weak Arizona starting staff. That's not going to be case here as San Diego will send out Ian Kennedy, who quietly bounced back in 2014 to go 13-13 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 33 starts. He'll be up against 39-year-old Tim Hudson, who had a 4.04 ERA over 14 day starts in 2014. This is also a difficult spot for SF, who had to travel after playing late last night at Arizona. Chicago will be sending out Jake Arrieta, who is coming off a sensational 2014 campaign, which saw him go 10-5 with a 2.53 ERA over 25 starts. Arrieta was especially good against St Louis, allowing just 3 earned runs with 35 strikeouts over 29 1/3 innings of work over 5 starts. The Cardinals counter with Lance Lynn, who is one of the more under appreciated starters in the game, but wasn't able to get his regular routine in spring due a hip injury. The Mariners will be starting youngster James Paxton, who has the making of a future star. When healthy Paxton has put up impressive numbers and he's 100% coming into 2015. The Angels will counter with C.J. Wilson, whose career has taken a drastic turn for the worse. Wilson had a mere 4.51 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 31 starts in 2014 and was not sharp in spring.
