Taking STL and the UNDER here. A chilly Game 6 elimination game with who could very well be the best post-season pitcher on the hill in Wacha. Ok, I'll bite here. Fact is that if the Cards could just avoid Ortiz, this Boston team is not hitting a lick. Both staffs and bullpens have looked sharp. Poor defense has been a problem. Neither team looks comfortable at the plate either. But I think Wacha is the real deal. He has been great this October going 4-0 1.00 ERA and a .122 BA against. Lackey wasn't terrible in Game 2, but I think the pitching edge is with STL here. 4* CARDS 4* UNDER

Taking the CARDS and the UNDER again tonight. I will go right back to the well here. First, I love playing on teams coming off sloppy games. Wainwright was a little wild and it cost him. Wacha has been lights out this post-season (.43 ERA) and that is off a very solid regular season. I have never loved Lackey, so he is an auto-fade for me here. Like I said, STL looked horrible last night. Both teams hadn't been hitting the ball this postseason, though the Sox got the clutch hits last night. 4* STL CARDS + 4* UNDER

Taking the CARDS here. I said on my Thursday night podcast that I thought LAD would win this series. Well, I couldn't have been further from the truth. I underestimating what I had as the Cards clear edge in their series vs the Pirates. They are a play-off tested, veteran led club that wins October baseball games. Wacca and tonight's starter Adam Wainwright have been as good or better than Kershaw and Greinke this postseason. Wainwright only posting a 1.13 ERA in his 2 starts with 15 strikeouts in 16 innings with just 1 walk. Those numbers translate into a .196 BA against and a .75 WHIP. Add in that the Dodgers haven't been hitting the ball and the fact that Hanley and Either might not be playing and this is a bad spot for LA. Dodgers batted .184 in the first two games on the road, including 1 for 16 (.063) with runners in scoring position. STL can really put the hammer down here and go up 3-0. 5* Best Bet STL CARDS

We have to go all the way back to the end of July to find when Greinke gave up more than 2 runs. I think LAD is the better team and will win the game and this series. 4* Money-Maker LA DODGERS

Taking the CARDS to close things out here. I just think STL is the better team. Who wouldn't want to see the Pirates advance and get to a World Series. They are a great story this year. That being said, the Cards are a great story every year. This team wins when it matters. They are deep and playoff tested. They have a flat-out stud on the hill tonight. Wainwright posted a .94 WHIP at home this year. I think the Bucs will feel a little bit more pressure in the box here. Gerritt Cole has looked every bit of a #1 since his call up. Cards 5-1 in Wainwright's last 6 at home vs Pitt. We can expand those numbers to 8-3 his last 11 overall vs the Pirates. Pitt is 2-6 last 8 in the series and 1-5 last 6 here in St Louis. 4* Money-Maker STL CARDINALS

Taking BOSTON to close it out. Tough loss yesterday on these guys, but will come right back again today. One, I just can't back Hell-boy. Hellickson has been brutal lately. A 7.45 ERA his last 3 starts. A 5.17 ERA on the year! And this guy is pitching to save your season. Listen. This Boston team is good. The line-up is very deep. They are going to get to Hellickson and it will 6-0 before the Rays know what even hit them. Not a chance that Boston is going to want to take this to a game 5 where anything can happen. Boston has been one of the top 2-3 teams all year. Rays a bit too streaky for my liking. Peavy is a the right guy for this game and will get it done here against Tampa. 4* Money-Maker BOSTON RED SOX

Taking OAKLAND here. If you listened in to my podcast on Thursday night I said I thought the A's would win this series (also Boston, STL and LA). This A's bunch is always an under the radar unit. Even last year. They have a scrappy, not fancy line-up. But they can hit when the have to. They have power. But most importantly, pitching. Now Fister is the listed starter right now for the Tigers. I wouldn't be shocked to see Scherzer get a last second call though. Either way, I think the A's wrap this up. A's 9-2 last 11 as underdogs, 9-3 last 12 on the road and 5-1 in Straily's last 6 starts. A's 4-1 last 5 in Detroit and 5-2 last 7 in this series. As much as Detroit is a pichers park, Fister posted a .293 BA against here. My final thought on why the A's will win is simply this. Miggy has been banged up the last few weeks of the season. He is the engine to this Tigers team. If you have no gas in the tank, the car won't go anywhere. That is how I feel about Detroit with a less than 100% Miggy. 4* Money-Maker OAKLAND A's

Tampa clearly out of gas, and even returning home, I don't think they get it done here. I nearly went RL +155 here. Red Sox have had Cobb's number (2-2 4.19 7 starts). Sox 6-2 last 8 in Tampa and 4-0 when facing Cobb here. Rays 0-5 last 5 home play-off games. 4* Money-Maker BOSTON RED SOX

Taking ST LOUIS here. For starters, I just think STL is the better team. Even without Craig, the lineup is still better than the Bucs. Beltran is a post-season monster. They also have other proven October players. This kid Wacha has been a beast coming down the stretch. A 1.72 ERA last month with a near no-no. Cards 5-1 last 6 vs Pirates. Pittsburgh is 0-7 in Morton's last 7 starts vs the Cards. Charlie Morton and his career 4.70 ERA do not frighten me here. I know that the stadium will be rocking here, but I will take the road warriors here. Cards won't be intimidated. These guys are World Series Champs and battle tested. He gave up 10 runs in 7.2 innings vs STL in his last 2 starts vs them. Pitt did win the season series 10-9, but this is playoff time. STL is a battle tested group. Taking the PIRATES here. I'll be honest with you. I am a Reds fan. I like this team. Votto, Phillips, Latos, Bruce. A bunch of guys I really like. But not here. Reds dropped 5 in row to end the year. That is no way to end a season. Especially when we add to that the Pirates and the fact that they are basically the feel-good story of MLB this year. Add in the fairy tale that is their starter tonight in Francisco Liriano (16-8 3.02 ERA), a possible MVP in Andrew McCutchen and the NL HR (tied) leader in Pedro Alvarez and it looks like the planets have finally aligned for this tortured franchise. Liriano at home has been nearly perfect, going 8-1 1.47 ERA, an opponents BA against of just .174 and a WHIP of .96. The Reds have beaten him already this year. But as good as Cueto is and has been, I don't trust him in his 3rd start off the DL. I really can't knock the Reds. They are a very good team. But my final thought here is that after dropping 5 straight and the last 3 right here to these Pirates, I just can't see Cincy 'flipping' the proverbial switch to get a win. 4* Money-Maker PITT PIRATES

Taking the RANGERS here. Let's get right to it. I think if Tampa played in the Central or West we wouldn't be having this playoff. But dems da breaks. On paper, it looks like Price is the clear cut choice here as the better starter. But I have been to this rodeo before. David has been anything but the right price in the playoffs and facing Texas. 1-4 5.98 career vs the Rangers and 0-3 4.66 in 3 playoff starts. I think Texas has the better bullpen, and in a win or go home situation, I will gladly take Joe Nathan over Fernando Rodney. We can also get a return of PEDer Nelson Cruz. That should give Texas a little boost also. Texas 5-2 last 7 vs Price. For Texas, the Rangers are 8-3 in Perez's last 11 starts. Taking TAMPA BAY here. The Yanks are officially bounced from the playoffs with the Indians win and their loss last night. I have said here for 2 weeks that the Tribe would be a wild-card team just based on their ending schedule. And let's face it. This Yankees team over-achieved all season. So they had a 200 million dollar payroll. But half of that was on the DL nearly the entire season. Jeter, Tex, Granderson, and Arod all missed significant time. This team is totally out of gas and spent. As much as I would love to see the Yanks send Mariano out with a save in his final home game, I just can't see it happening. Tampa needs to keep winning. They have won 8 of 10, but the Indians have also. They can't afford a loss here. Cobb has been solid vs the Yanks going 3-1 2.34 ERA in nearly 45 innings vs them. Tampa 4-1 last 5 vs Yanks and 5-1 last 6 here in NY. Yanks 3-8 their last 11. 4* Money-Maker TAMPA BAY RAYS

Taking the BRAVES here. Can't beat ATL at this price. Braves red hot, winners of 8 of 10, 20 of their last 26. They are 20-7 in Minor's last 27 starts. ATL 5-2 last 7 vs Strasburgh, 7-3 last 10 vs Nats in Atlanta and 14-3 last 17 vs Washington overall. Nats 1-5 in Strasburgh's last 6 starts. They are 1-11 last 12 vs teams with winning records. You would think that Washington is smacking itself silly for shutting this kid down last year when they had a shot at the playoffs. This team is very disappointing. Strasburgh on the road has been a mere mortal. 1-5 4.88 ERA in 10 starts compared to a 1.58 ERA at home. Will back the Braves here as small faves. 4* Money-Maker ATLANTA BRAVES

Taking the PIRATES here. Another case of a streaking team as Pitt has reeled off 5 straight and 8 of 10. Rox have dropped 5 straight and 9 of 10. Rockies look like they have given up while Pitt is eager for a taste of postseason that hasn't wet their lips in eons. All the talk is about Harvey and Kershaw for Cy Young. But can Liriano get a vote or 2. The guy already has comeback POY locked up. He is 12-4 2.02 with a .205 BA Against. More Ks than innings. 76 hits allowed in 106 innings. Though a terrible 2.65 road ERA. (sarcasm) Liriano is dealing with a .42 ERA his last 3 starts. Pirates 4-1 last 5 vs Rox. Taking the INDIANS here. Now, this would be a good spot for us to back Miami with their young stud on the hill. But I say not so fast. This Marlins line-up is 4A at best even with Stanton clubbing the ball in the middle. I am no fan of Ubaldo. The guy had a great first half years ago. He is 2-1 2.83 ERA his last 5 starts though. He also has pitched better on the road (4-2 3.30) than at home (4-3 5.16). He is a little under a K an inning and has allowed less hits than innings. Against a young club like Miami, I think his walks will be down as these kids swing at anything near the plate. I can't say a bad thing about Fernandez. The kid looks like the real deal. I just think that Cleveland has more pop, is playing for the playoffs, is hot (8-2) last 10. 4* Road Warrior CLEVELAND INDIANS

On the flip side we have Eric Stults who has been excellent at home. 5-1 2.45 ERA in 9 starts with a BA against of .196 and a WHIP of just .88. Taking the RAYS here. We didn't play these guys yesterday after cashing with them Friday night but will gladly back Matt Moore here even at this price. If some guy in Detroit was mowing down batters like he is, then this youngster would be in Cy Young talk. Moore is 14-3 3.17 ERA on the year. Hitters batting just .204 against and he is striking out almost a hitter an inning. As nice as his season has been, he has pitched better on the road than at home. Moore 7-1 2.77 ERA in 10 starts with a .187 BA against. Rays 10-1 in Moore's last 11 road starts, 14-3 last 17 when he's listed as a fave, 12-3 last 15 vs teams with winning records and 18-4 his last 22 overall. As a team, Tampa 21-5 last 26 when listed as road faves and 7-1 last 8 on the road. Clearly NYY is struggling. Even adding Soriano and maybe with Jeter back this team has huge offensive holes. Holes the size of the grand canyon! Enter Phil Hughes. The kid has been BRUTAL at home this year. 1-7 5.63 ERA in 10 starts. Hitters batting .292 against him. Yanks 3-9 last 12 when Hughes starts and 0-6 his last 6 home starts. Can't see that changing today. 5* Best Bet TB RAYS

Taking the INDIANS here. This is a scrappy bunch. Clinging to playoff hopes as they are on the Tigers heels for the AL Central. They rallied back after blowing a big lead last night. They should have a Cleveland version of the rally monkey! I do like Darvish, but not in this spot. I think Masterson is a bit underrated. The all-star has 3 SHOs this year and teams are hitting just .219 against him. He also strikes out a guy an inning and has allowed 30 less hits then innings pitched. Again, Darvish has some great numbers and that I can't easily dismiss. But I think this a good spot for the home team. 4* Money-Maker CLEVELAND INDIANS

CC has 6.50 ERA his last 3 starts. His ERA continues to grow as the season goes on. It normally gets lower here in the dog-days. Taking the PIRATES here. Pitt has lost a couple close ones here. I think they avoid the sweep and bust out offensively tonight. The A's have won 11 straight vs Pitt. That has to end here. Millone isn't the best of A's starters. He has a 4.74 ERA his last 3 starts and sits at 8-7 4.11 on the year. He is 4-4 4.83 on the road this year. Pitt has lost 4 straight but I think this team has the heart to end this streak tonight. 10* Money-Bomb PITTSBURGH PIRATES
