06-04-17 | Nationals v. A's -113 | 11-10 | Loss | -113 | 5 h 51 m | Show
Taking OAKLAND here. End of a 6 game road trip out west for the Nats. They did lose big 10-4 yesterday, but that was on the heels of crushing the A's 13-3 in series opener. Just feel this is a spot where we see some guys resting as they head back home in getaway day fashion. 4* Money Maker OAKLAND A'S |

06-03-17 | Rockies v. Padres +111 | 10-1 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 9 m | Show
Taking the PADRES here. Now, last year, we would have been all over Chatwood in this spot. In fact, early this year we were heavy on road-Wood. Last year, 8-1 1.69 ERA 13 starts. This year, a 3.06 road ERA. Not terrible. A .173 BAA and 1.05 WHIP look impressive. He has had 2 real road gems this year. 2 hit SHO at SF, and a 1 hit gem over 7 at Philly with 8Ks. But, the Padres have given him trouble this year. They beat him nearly 1 month ago here as Chatwood gave up 5 in 5+ innings of work. Only 4 hits allowed, but 4 walks and 2 HRs will do some damage. SD also beat him in April in Colorado where he gave up 4 earned in 5+. As long as we hit on some splits, how about Chacin. Holy cow. 10.27 ERA in 7 road starts .377 BAA 2.12 WHIP ! Yikes. But lookie lookie here. At Petco, the guy is the best pitcher to ever play major league baseball - a .67 ERA .70 WHIP .132 BAA in 4 starts. Not even sure Chatwood keeps a rotation spot with his 5+ ERA on the year when Gray comes off the DL next week. 4* Money Maker SD PADRES |

06-02-17 | Rays v. Mariners +112 | 4-12 | Win | 112 | 11 h 12 m | Show
Taking the MARINERS here. Now. I have faded Seattle multiple times this year and really do not like this team at all. But I will grab them as a small dog tonight. Rays can hit, and Odorizzi has a respectable mid 3 road ERA. But this kid Bergman has been pretty solid for Seattle. In 2 of his last 3 starts he has gone 7 and giving up 0 runs (6 hits). In the middle, the Nats destroyed him for 10 earned on 14 hits in 4 innings of work. In 11 innings at home, he has posted a .88 BAA and .55 WHIP. M's 4-1 last 5 at home vs Tampa 4* Money Maker SEATTLE MARINERS |
|||||||
06-02-17 | Giants +110 v. Phillies | 10-0 | Win | 110 | 9 h 34 m | Show
Taking the GIANTS here. Both teams on losing streaks, but I think SF gets off the snide tonight. They mustered 3 runs at home in the Nats series. Safe to say the coach isn't happy. I do like this kid Blach though. Don't be misled by his crazy road ERA. He was shelled in Cincy (8 in 3) in just his 3rd start (also 3 in 1 inning of relief in his 2nd outing of the year). He has given up 10 runs in his other 6 starts. 4* SF GIANTS |
|||||||
06-02-17 | Yankees -113 v. Blue Jays | 5-7 | Loss | -113 | 8 h 27 m | Show
Taking the YANKEES here. Pineda has pitched pretty well this year giving up 3 earned or less in 9 of his 10 starts. Not too shabby. A .209 BAA and 1.09 WHIP help since he does like to give up the long ball. A 3+ 4 earned first game start skews his road numbers a bit. But he will give up a few tonight the Jays. I will lay this number since the Yankee bats are really stroking it right now. They should score vs Liriano making his first start off the DL. This guy is always up and down and his 6.35 ERA through 7 starts makes me think he is struggling a bit. Love that high 1.91 WHIP. Will also look to the over again tonight. 4* Money Maker NY YANKEES |
|||||||
06-02-17 | Cardinals +157 v. Cubs | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 57 m | Show
Taking the CARDINALS here. Cubs have lost 6 straight. STL not playing great by any stretch, and Lynn doesn't have the best numbers vs Chicago. But I have to take a shot getting this kind of number vs a team on a big losing streak like this. 4* STL CARDINALS |
|||||||
06-01-17 | Diamondbacks v. Marlins +116 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 36 m | Show
Taking MIAMI here. i am always going to take some bumps and bruises over the coarse of a season, and May was that kind of month. But I am not going to start changing things that have made me money over years because of a bad stretch. And that brings us to Greinke laying this short number in Miami. A 4-1 3.28 month of May will have everyone giddy about this line. I'll dig deeper to Zach's 1-3 4.62 road record this year. Not much to report on Locke who is off 4 rehab starts (1.77 ERA 20 innings 22Ks 2walks) Marlins 6-2 last 8 vs Arizona. D-backs long way from home. This is their 14th straight game, 8th straight on the road. This will be their 11th road game in that stretch. Marlins, like Arizona, on a 7-3 run. Miami bats have been putting up runs and I think they scratch out the win tonight. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
06-01-17 | Rockies +124 v. Mariners | 6-3 | Win | 124 | 7 h 58 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. Had them last night, and will come back again. You should know by now that I am not high on the Mariners. Freeland has nice road splits, 3-0 3.21 in 5 starts. Gallardo has a near 6 ERA on the year. He has been terrible at home, 1-2 7.00 in 5 starts with hitters slapping him at a .306 clip. Rockies 9-4 last 13 on the road and are 6-2 in Freeland's last 8, winning all 5 of his road starts. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |

05-30-17 | Yankees -133 v. Orioles | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 56 m | Show
Will grab the YANKEES here tonight. O's snapped their losing streak yesterday, but I think Servino gets the best of them in his start. The guy has allowed more than 4 runs just once this year (2.25 road ERA). So we know we will be in the game, especially with the NYY bullpen. Baltimore counters with Tillman who isn't that sharp lately (5.87 ERA last 3) and for the year batters are hitting nearly .300 off him. 4* Money Maker NY YANKEES |

05-27-17 | Cardinals v. Rockies -108 | 3-0 | Loss | -108 | 29 h 51 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. These guys just keep on winning. First place in the NL West. They are now 18-8 on the road and have an average home mark! The old days, they would feast at home while being destroyed away. So here they are favored of Wainwright. As I have said in previous write ups, this guy is on the downward side of his career. The numbers don't lie. I will give him 2 nice starts in a row. But even giving up 1 run in 13.1 innings, I can't overlook a 6.37 ERA and .356 BAA and near 1.90 WHIP his first 7 starts. At 35, with 1800 innings logged on his arm, a pair of good starts is an out-lier for me, not the norm. STL treated us well in LA, but now they are heading to the Rockies. Colorado has cashed 7 of 10 and 15 of their last 21. (not counting Friday contest) - Freeland has a 2.63 ERA his last 7 starts (4-1) and holding hitters to .221 over that span. He has been solid at home so I think he gets it done tonight. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |
|||||||
05-26-17 | Diamondbacks +104 v. Brewers | 4-2 | Win | 104 | 8 h 33 m | Show
Will grab the DIAMONDBACKS here. This Arizona team can hit. So you know I will fade Guerra fresh off the DL. Godley has pitched pretty well since taking off for Shelby Miller. 2.45 ERA in his 4 starts. Off his worse outing of the year vs the Padres, 3 earned over 7, I think he gets the job done tonight. DBacks red hot looking for the 10th win in 11 tries. 4* Money Maker ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS |
|||||||
05-24-17 | Cardinals +153 v. Dodgers | 6-1 | Win | 153 | 13 h 52 m | Show
Taking the CARDINALS, again. Lost a tough one last night in extra with this guys. Leake still near the top of the ERA leader-board and sports a .99 WHIP. His numbers are even better on the road a .145 BAA and .75 WHIP. Hill hasn't pitched in 8 days, and this is his 2nd start off the DL. Doubt he pitches deep into this game. 4* Money Maker STL CARDINALS |
|||||||
05-24-17 | Twins +100 v. Orioles | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 44 m | Show
Taking the TWINS here. Berrios has been pretty good his last couple of starts, a .59 ERA out of the gate since his call-up. Looking totally different than his showing last season. Twins now 8-1 last 9 on the road. They have won 7 of their last 10 overall. They are 7-3 their last 10 games here in Baltimore. Orioles scuffling along going 3-9 their last 12. Tillman not the prettiest numbers vs Minny. 0-4 in 7 starts 4.50 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Probably a reason this line has dropped from O's -140. 4* Money Maker MINNESOTA TWINS |
|||||||
05-23-17 | Cardinals +221 v. Dodgers | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 13 h 41 m | Show
Taking the CARDINALS here. Will take a shot with Lynn. The guy has an ERA of 2.78 on the year and is getting 2-1 odds. How can I not take him? I get Kershaw is his usual beast self. 7-2 2.15 ERA. But for whatever reason, STL has had success vs him. They are 9-6 vs him career. STL 5-2 in Lynn's last 7 starts vs LA, while Dodgers are 3-7 in Kershaw's last 10 starts vs STL. 4* Money Maker STL CARDINALS |
|||||||
05-23-17 | Marlins +120 v. A's | 11-9 | Win | 120 | 13 h 32 m | Show
Taking the MARLINS here. Have to back the youngster here. Urena has been solid in his 3 starts so far since coming out of the pen, 1-2 1.53 ERA. Just like Miami. Think they benefit from the DH. Gets them an extra bat. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
05-23-17 | White Sox +170 v. Diamondbacks | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 13 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX. We are on the over also since Covey sports a 7+ ERA. Corbin has been hittable as he has given up 16 runs in his last 16 innings. That raised his ERA a full 2 runs. I like our bullpen better to reign things in if they get out of control. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-23-17 | Rangers +180 v. Red Sox | 6-11 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 28 m | Show
Taking the RANGERS here. Texas just had a nice win streak snapped. And I am not a huge Cashner fan. But he has pitched pretty good on the road. 3.12 ERA in 3 starts but a .194 BA Against says he limits the hits. He hasn't given up more than 2 earned since his first start of the year. Porcello won the Cy Young last year, but teams have figured him out some so far. Forget the 2-5 4.23 ERA. Hitters are at a .284 clip and he sports a WHIP of 1.41. - Also has a 5.52 ERA in his 5 home starts (1-4) with 7HRs allowed. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-22-17 | Giants +168 v. Cubs | 6-4 | Win | 168 | 26 h 51 m | Show
Taking the GIANTS here. Will grab Blach at this price. This is his 6th start this year. Don't be fooled by this ERA. He was shelled for 8 earned in 3 innings giving up 11 hits in Cincy. He has given up 5 runs in his other 27 innings (4 starts). In fact, his first start he went 5 giving up 2 on 4 hits. He has gone 7 in the other 3 starts. That is the kid who I think shows up tonight vs Lackey. And Lackey hasn't been all that perfect at home either. 1-2 with a 4+ ERA and opposing hitters are at a .290 clip against him. They are on a nice little 8-3 run their last 11 and worth it at this price. 4* Money Maker SF GIANTS |
|||||||
05-22-17 | Royals +154 v. Yankees | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 25 h 4 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. Had KC at home with Vargas, and will come right back to start the week. Your ERA will jump a full run when you give up 6 runs like Vargas did in his last game vs NYY. 1.01 up to 2.03. I always like to back a guy who was shelled in the previous game, especially when facing the same team. KC did manage 4 runs vs Pineda, but that wasn't enough. He has been better at home, by far as the numbers show. At this price, worth the shot. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-22-17 | Twins +129 v. Orioles | 14-7 | Win | 129 | 25 h 59 m | Show
Taking the TWINS here. Have to play on the dogs in this spot. How can you back Jimenez and his 7.04 home ERA? He has given up 9 runs in his last 2 starts. 16 (15 earned) his last 3 starts with 6 HRs allowed. Kyle Gibson is not winning any Cy Young awards. He will give up his 4 runs because that is what he does. Will also look at the over 9.5 to hedge or side play. 4* Money Maker MINNESOTA TWINS |
|||||||
05-21-17 | Rockies -108 v. Reds | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 4 h 55 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. We cashed nicely with the Reds RL yesterday, but are on the opposite side this afternoon. And with good reason. Arroyo sports a career ERA of 5 vs the Rockies. Those 13 starts (15 games) were when he was actually a major league starter pitcher - not the batting practice fodder he is now. He has a 6.31 ERA on the year, though pitching much better at home 4.84 ERA as to the road 8.05. Not sure how many times I have said an ERA near 5 is good in my life! On the opposite side of his career and with opposite stats, rookie Kevin Freeland comes in, for me, as the play today. A 3.13 ERA on the year, 2.42 on the road in 4 starts. Not a fan of his K/BB ratio 29K/22BB and I would like to see that improve drastically. But he does get a lot of ground-ball outs which will help in this park. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |
|||||||
05-20-17 | White Sox +158 v. Mariners | 16-1 | Win | 158 | 13 h 59 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX here, again. Not done fading the Mariners. And you won't catch me backing Gallardo laying this kind of number. Can't believe he is only 31. I loved to ride in his Brewers days. He had a good run from 2009-2012. But his strike-outs have gone done drastically. I have never liked Pelfrey. But at this price, he is worth the shot. Will also hedge a bit with the over. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-19-17 | White Sox +100 v. Mariners | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 9 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX again. Lost with these guys last night, but at least we had the over to minimize the damage. Quintana struggling in 2017 for sure. But as I have said all week about Seattle. The pitching is just not there. It will bite them in their butts, and hopefully tonight. I am getting tired of win 1, lose 1 fading the Mariners. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-19-17 | Royals -104 v. Twins | 3-4 | Loss | -104 | 9 h 19 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. We have had KC the last couple days, and are back on Karns tonight. A 2.08 ERA in May logging 17 innings with 29Ks almost makes this look too easy. But he has struggled on the road which is reflected in the line. Just not a fan of Santiago. Shelled for 6 in 2+ innings his last start. He is good for 3 runs in 5, 6 innings every start. Royals playing a bit better and will grab them tonight. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-19-17 | Indians +116 v. Astros | 5-3 | Win | 116 | 9 h 11 m | Show
Taking the INDIANS here. Just think that Cleveland breaks out tonight. Off a poor series vs Tampa, losing 2 of 3 at home, Cleveland in a funk. Not sold on Morton even though he has better numbers than Bauer. Indians were in the World Series last year. With an off day before tonight, I just think the Tribe is refocused at the task at hand. 4* Money Maker CLEVELAND INDIANS |
|||||||
05-19-17 | Blue Jays +103 v. Orioles | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 25 m | Show
Taking the BLUE JAYS here. Just like what I saw out of Sanchez in his first start back. Nobody is saying that Toronto isn't struggling. This lineup is banged up and not producing. But I think Sanchez keeps us in this thing. Plus, Tillman has been bad in the past vs the Jays (5-10 5.44 ERA). 4* Money Maker TORONTO BLUE JAYS |
|||||||
05-19-17 | Rockies +102 v. Reds | 12-6 | Win | 102 | 8 h 26 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. Yes. we are backing a road starter with a near 6 and a half ERA. But Anderson has had 2 decent May starts with a 3.09 ERA in 2 starts with 18Ks and just 3 walks in 11.2 innings (11 hits allowed). Bonilla tossed CG in his first start since 2014 against San Fran. He doesn't have overly impressive number in the minors either. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |
|||||||
05-19-17 | Phillies v. Pirates -122 | 7-2 | Loss | -122 | 8 h 29 m | Show
Taking the PIRATES here. Have to fade Hellickson here. He has truly been Hell-Boy lately. Putting his team through hell with his 7.90 May ERA. 7 HRs allowed in 13+ innings with 7Ks and 5 Walks allowed. A .333 BA against and that 1.76 WHIP shows me Pirates have a chance to put plate some runs tonight. 4* Money Maker PITTSBURGH PIRATES |
|||||||
05-18-17 | Marlins +173 v. Dodgers | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 48 m | Show
Taking MIAMI here. Have to fade Ryu. Hammered off the DL. Has an ERA of nearly 5. Probably pitching for his spot right now. No way you can back a guy like this laying nearly 2-1. Hey. There are plenty of cappers all over that having 'winning' records but are barely plus money. Anyone can put out 3 huge faves a day and have a nice run sometimes. But that will catch up to you sooner or later. I am always going to side with a big dog before I bite on a struggling big money fave. Miami has struggled, but they do have some bats that can put some runs on the board for us. Volquez is what he is. And that is not as bad as Ryu right now. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
05-18-17 | White Sox +145 v. Mariners | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 43 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX here. First career start for Gaviglio. And as a rule, there is no way you back a guy who has thrown 2 innings in the bigs. I get the White Sox are a 17 win team and aren't that good. But Seattle has problems, obviously, in the rotation and in the bullpen. Plus Cano being out isn't a good thing either. Covey is another rookie earning his stripes. The kid has a 7+ ERA ! I do like he is coming off a 9K game. Maybe he builds on those pitches and cuts down on the HRs. The over will also be in play of us tonight. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-18-17 | Red Sox v. A's -105 | 3-8 | Win | 100 | 12 h 47 m | Show
Taking OAKLAND here. Have been on the A's all week. Not changing as they head home. Sox in off an extra innings 2 game sweep of STL. We have Gray who is solid, but nothing like he was a couple years ago. You would think a team of MLB hitters can tag a guy who was pitching in the Mexican League this past year. 4* Money Maker OAKLAND A's |
|||||||
05-18-17 | Yankees v. Royals +105 | 1-5 | Win | 105 | 10 h 1 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. Have had KC the first 2 games and won't back off now. I like Duffy. He is a tough lefty overall. KC came into this series pretty hot. I think they salvage this game and avoid a sweep. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-17-17 | A's -101 v. Mariners | 0-4 | Loss | -101 | 11 h 26 m | Show
Taking OAKLAND here. Had the A's last night, and are backing them again. Nearly went all in and made this my GAME of the WEEK. But my MLB has been average this month, and I don't force something or make it a GOW or GOM just because I need one. So as I said yesterday, just don't like this Seattle staff. Not the starters. Not the pen. And this A's team can hit, or at least hit some balls out of the park. As I have said. The Mariners are a team I am looking to fade. And when I can catch a PK road team over them, well I am all in. 4* Money Maker OAKLAND A's |
|||||||
05-17-17 | Yankees v. Royals +123 | 11-7 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 36 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. We had KC last night, and are coming back again. 1. I am waiting for a NY regression. So when I can get them laying anything, I am signing up. 2. Vargas is off to a great start. And yes, a regression will becoming for the MLB ERA leader (1.01). - Pineda has been hit on the road. 5.52 ERA in 3 starts. Now the Royal hitters aren't setting the world on fire. But I they have a guy on the hill who will keep them in striking distance. And Pineda is good for a 3-4 run inning along the way. Give me the small home pups. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-17-17 | Reds +155 v. Cubs | 5-7 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 30 m | Show
Taking the REDS here. Will take a flyer at this price with Cincy. Both clubs with 19 wins. Cubs struggling out of the gate. Would be a up a ton if we straight faded this guys from Game 1. Forget about the 'hangover' from winning the World Series. We just have guys struggling. Hitters and pitchers. Hendricks hasn't been anywhere close to what he was at home last year. 4+ERA this year, 12Ks 8BBS in 15 innings. Not impressive. Last year a 1.82 ERA going 9-2. Again. Cubs will eventually come out of their funk. But you won't find me risking these guys of units on struggling big name teams. 4* Money Maker CINCINNATI REDS |
|||||||
05-17-17 | Mets v. Diamondbacks -130 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 12 m | Show
Taking ARIZONA here. This is the straight and continued fade of Matt Harvey. The Mets are a mess. Bullpen is a dumpster fire right now. We cashed the over in Game 1 of this series. Should have played in every day as it won again yesterday. I think Corbin though shuts down this limited NY lineup today though. He is sporting a 2.45 home ERA in 5 starts (3-1) - The 'Dark Knight' with a 10+ ERA his last 3 starts and 5.73 road ERA. Hitters slapping Harvey around to the tune of .300 BA against and a 1.73 WHIP. 19Ks and 11 walks not very impressive. DBacks now 8-1 last 9 vs the Mets. 4* Money Maker ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS |
|||||||
05-17-17 | Rays +143 v. Indians | 7-4 | Win | 143 | 2 h 39 m | Show
Taking the RAYS here. Have to fade Tomlin. A terrible 5.87 ERA on the year, and even worse at home. - 6.53 at home with a .341 BA against and 1.60 WHIP in 4 starts. Cobb with a 2.21 ERA his last 3 starts which helps the cause. 4* Money Maker TAMPA BAY RAYS |
|||||||
05-16-17 | A's -106 v. Mariners | 9-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 7 m | Show
Taking OAKLAND here. Just like the A's. Had them on the free pick video yesterday and they have now dropped 4 straight. Normally I stay away from teams on losing streaks like this, or go the other way. Seattle though to me is still a struggling bunch. They are missing 80% of their starting pitching. These guys they are trotting out don't last more than 5 innings. De Jong's last 3 starts - 5 innings 6 earned. 6 innings 1 earned. 2.2 innings 6 earned. 8.56 ERA over those 13+ innings. Oakland 5-2 in Triggs last 7 starts and also 5-2 last 7 trips to Seattle. Triggs has yet to give up a run in his 2 road starts allowing 9 hits in 13 innings including 12Ks and just 1 walk. .191 BA Against and .71 WHIP aren't too shabby. 4* Money Maker OAKLAND A's |
|||||||
05-16-17 | Brewers +108 v. Padres | 6-2 | Win | 108 | 12 h 53 m | Show
Taking the BREWERS here. Just like Nelson more than Richard. Richard isn't a power arm, and that is what hampers Milwaukee. Padres pulled out the win last night. Nelson does have a .98 WHIP on the road, so he has been unlucky with the runs he's allowed. On the opposite side of that numbers we have Clay at home sporting a 5.09 ERA in 3 starts and opposing hitters are crushing him to the tune of .304 with a 1.70 WHIP. 4* Money Maker MILWAUKEE BREWERS |

05-16-17 | Yankees v. Royals +107 | 7-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 54 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. I have faded CC all year and it won't stop now. A 10.34 ERA last 3 starts. KC playing better after their early season slump, winners of 7 of 10 and 4 straight. Yanks, for me at least, haven't hit a slump yet. When in the regression coming? A couple hitters are slowing down, but I expect a little bit of team struggle to pop its head up soon. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-16-17 | Orioles v. Tigers -119 | 13-11 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 42 m | Show
Taking the TIGERS here. A little bit of a line move as the O's opened up as small faves. Tigers 14-3 off a day off and will look to add to Baltimore's 4 game losing streak. Detroit just went 4-5 on their road trip and the O's are smack dab in the middle of one getting swept in KC. Home team gets off the snide tonight. 4* Money Maker DETROIT TIGERS |
|||||||
05-13-17 | Orioles v. Royals -106 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 14 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. KC playing a lot better since getting out of April. Don't be fooled by Karns 4.58 ERA. He came in relief for his first appearance and gave up 4 runs in 2 thirds. In 4 of his 6 starts, he had allowed 1,1,0,2 runs. (4-6 the other 2). Both of those bad starts were on the roard (Tex- CWS). He has gone 12 innings at home, 1 run 5 hits, 10Ks. He is off a pair of gems totally 17Ks in 12+ innings allowing 7 hits. KC has won 10 of 12 vs the Orioles here at Kauffman. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-13-17 | Braves v. Marlins -119 | 3-1 | Loss | -119 | 10 h 19 m | Show
Taking the MARLINS here. Normally don't like taking a guy fresh off the DL. Nor do I like backing a Miami team who is on a 3-13 run. But I will make an exception in this case since it was just 1 start. Volquez off a 9K 8 BB performance before a blister sidelined him. This is more of a fade of Teheran, who, if we take out 2 of his 3 starts vs the Mets has not been particularly sharp. He has give up 4 or more in 3 of his last 4 starts. Hitters raking at a .295 clip over that time. 15Ks and 12 walks in those games. Atlanta has lost 8 of 10 themselves. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
05-12-17 | Padres +120 v. White Sox | 6-3 | Win | 120 | 11 h 57 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX here. Should probably just go RL +160 in this spot. Miguel Gonzalez has pitched pretty good so far this year. A 3.18 ERA in 6 starts, even better at home 1.29 in 14 inning with 11Ks , a 86 WHIP and .173 BA Against. Padres not good. 6-14 on the road. Worse hitting team in NL. They send Jhouls Chacin to the hill tonight with his 10.24 road ERA this season. 4 starts, a .349 BA against over 2 WHIP. He has give up earned runs of 9,3,7,4 in his road games. Looks like he is due for an 8 spot tonight! White Sox have lost 5 straight, San Diego 3. Hate to back a team losing like this, but this is a straight fade of SD and Chacin. What better way to break a losing streak and offensive slump than a big win at home. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-12-17 | Astros v. Yankees +117 | 5-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 5 m | Show
Taking the YANKEES here. We had the Astros last night, but will flip to the small home dogs here. Thought we had the edge on the hill yesterday, and today Houston trots out McCullers, who I like, but not on the road. I have said in his previous road starts that his splits are bad. Houston now 4-14 in his last 18 starts on the road. He still is 3-9 after a ND last week. Montgomery isn't some front line ace. But I think that the Yanks hit more tonight and the rookie keeps us in this thing. The big arms in the NY pen are ready if needed. 4* Money Maker NY YANKEES |
|||||||
05-11-17 | Astros +115 v. Yankees | 3-2 | Win | 115 | 18 h 53 m | Show
Taking the ASTROS here. Yanks a very impressive 12-3 at home this year. But I think they have a big test tonight in Keuchel. He has fared pretty good vs NYY posting a 1.61 ERA in the Bronx and going 3-1 in his 4 starts in New York. He is in off his worse start of the year. Giving up 5 in 8+. But that is a bit skewed. He entered the 9th with a 6-2 leard. Now the Yanks have won the last 5 starts behind Pineda. But as good as he has been, let's be honest, we are waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe this is the year he puts it all together. Either way, I can't not take Houston at this price. 4* Money Maker HOUSTON ASTROS |
|||||||
05-11-17 | Royals +105 v. Rays | 6-0 | Win | 105 | 12 h 12 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. Off a total beat-down last night, I expect KC to come out with pride tonight. oh. And let's not forget Jason Vargas, who, just happens to lead the league in ERA this young season. His worse outing has come on the road. That was vs the White Sox who nailed him for 4 runs, 3 earned in 5 innings. In his very next start, vs the same team, he gave up 1 run over 6. I have said before that TB has trouble offensively. I think Vargas gives them some more this afternoon. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-10-17 | Cubs -128 v. Rockies | 0-3 | Loss | -128 | 16 h 32 m | Show
Taking the CUBS here. Well of course our Monday play gets rained out and then the Rockies win Game 1 of a day-night double header. That is just the kind of unlucky roll we have been on. Marlins up 5-1, give up 5 top 8 and crush our ML and RL payday. Just a bad run of games right now. But that ends here with Hendricks on the hill. I think people have forgotten that he led the league in ERA last year. A bit of a bumpy April giving up 11 earned in his first 3 starts. But he has been very good in his last 3 starts totally just 2 total runs in 17+ innings. What can we say about Marquez. 3 starts. He allowed 8 runs in 4 innings to that Nats at home. Zero in 6 at Arizona. And then 5 more in 6 innings to the DBacks a week later. Obviously, he has trouble at home. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO CUBS |
|||||||
05-09-17 | Twins -109 v. White Sox | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 2 m | Show
Taking the TWINS here. Not sure how much money you can make in the long run backing teams that have lost 28-7 their last 2 games. But there is zero chance that I am on the Mike Pelfrey bandwagon. Can't even believe this game is basically a PK. Pelfrey has a BA Against of over .300 for the last 5 straight years. Granted, he has been basically Chris Sale for the Sox this year with a .268 BAA! But come on. I will say that betting is never as easy at it looks. And looking at this match-up, this screams to me easy money. Hector Santiago is off to a nice start. I am sure he will regress. But I think the Twins really want to erase that Red Sox series. What better way than to tee off on a batting practice pitcher. 4* Money Maker MINNESOTA TWINS |
|||||||
05-09-17 | Cardinals v. Marlins -111 | 6-5 | Loss | -111 | 10 h 21 m | Show
Taking the MARLINS here. I am sure the average baseball looks at this and thinks, Who is Dan Straily? Adam Wainwright is great. Well, the guy is 35 now. Off the worse year of his career. He had a great run for 2007-20014. A pair of 19 and 20 win seasons. But he has struggled so far this year. He sports a 7+ ERA on the road. 27 hits allowed in 13 innings and you have a .422 BA Against with a WHIP of 2.27. Yikes. I know that Miami is slumping a bit. Nothing better to get the bats going than to face a struggling pitcher. Straily does have a 4.65 ERA on the year, but his home stats are pretty solid. A 2.87 ERA in 3 starts with a .132 BA Against and 1.09 WHIP. We'll grab the small home fave and maybe sprinkle some RL also. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
05-09-17 | Giants +102 v. Mets | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 12 m | Show
Taking the GIANTS here. Hate taking a team on a losing streak. Especially a team that is having trouble scoring, and blowing leads. But I think that Sammy is the call here. Off a pair of solid starts, he seems to have turned a corner off a rough start. Wheeler is a guy who hasn't pitched since 2014. This is his 6 start. He has gotten out of the 6th inning once. Obviously, he is still working his way to full strength. A little road warrior action tonight at Citi Field. 4* Money Maker SF GIANTS |
|||||||
05-08-17 | Yankees v. Reds +149 | 10-4 | Loss | -100 | 19 h 37 m | Show
Taking the REDS here. Have to fade the Yanks off that long, extra innings affair last night on ESPN. Reds won't be seeing Chapman. Doubt Adam Warren is available. Heck, maybe Tanaka goes 8 and the pen doesn't come into play. Rookie Davis facing the Yankees, who drafted him, but traded him for to Cincy for Chapman. But at this price, I am taking a swing on the home dogs. 4* Money Maker CINCINNATI REDS |
|||||||
05-08-17 | Royals +140 v. Rays | 7-3 | Win | 140 | 18 h 27 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. No way would I ever lay this kind of number with Snell. Is he old David Price? James Shields? Scott Kazmir? Blake Snell has trouble getting to a 6th inning of a ball game. 27 hits and 21 walks in 31 innings. That is playing with fire putting extra guys on. I know that KC has lost 8 straight on the road, and is having problems scoring. But in Karns we have a guy who misses bats, 26Ks in 29 innings. And is coming off a 6 inning 1 hit gem. And let's be honest here. Tampa, whose hitters lead the lead in strikeouts (330), can be taken advantage of. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
05-08-17 | Nationals -107 v. Orioles | 4-6 | Loss | -107 | 19 h 39 m | Show
Taking the NATIONALS here. Orioles have owned this series the last couple years. But even off a loss, no way I will get in front of this Nats offense that continues to punish pitchers. Gausman should be rested after being ejected in his last start. But does that even matter? He has 1 quality on the year so far. Opposing batters are hitting him for better than .320 and he has a WHIP of nearly 2. 18 walks to 20Ks - Against this Nats lineup? Yikes. GG is off to a fast start with a sterling 1.64 ERA including a .166 BA Against in his 2 road starts against the Mets and Rockies. 4* Money Maker WASHINGTON NATIONALS |
|||||||
05-07-17 | Nationals -125 v. Phillies | 5-6 | Loss | -125 | 4 h 26 m | Show
Taking the NATIONALS here. Nats have won 4 straight, Phillies have dropped 5 in a row. I do like Hell-Boy. Hellickson off to a nice 4-1 3.18 ERA start. But I really like Roark. I think this guy is always undervalued. Nats 11-3 in his last 14 road starts. Washington 17-4 last 21 in Philly. At this price, it's a go on the road fave. 4* Money Maker WASHINGTON NATIONALS |
|||||||
05-07-17 | Red Sox v. Twins +165 | 17-6 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 17 m | Show
Taking the TWINS today. How do we pass up a home dog starting a pitcher with a .66 ERA. Santana is dealing so far on the season. Red Sox finally scored some runs yesterday, but had been slumping at the plate prior. .70 WHIP and .120 BA Against could lead to Boston having trouble scoring today. Sale is no slouch with a .74 WHIP and .166 BAA. So please, I am not saying he is chopped liver. But the numbers are pretty even right now. Sale doesn't have dazzling numbers vs Minny in his career either. (8-6 4.28) This should probably be a 1-0, 2-1 type game. I just have to take a shot at this price though. 4* Money Maker MINNESOTA TWINS |
|||||||
05-07-17 | White Sox +109 v. Orioles | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 53 m | Show
Taking the WHITE SOX here. Quintana has looked solid after a rocky start to the season. We know he will keep us in a game where the Orioles bullpen is always ready to give up runs. We also have Tillman fresh off the DL. You know I don't like pitchers making their first starts off DL trips. Especially a guy coming off a 0-3 7.16 4 start rehab stint. We'll grab the very small dogs. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX |
|||||||
05-06-17 | Astros v. Angels +120 | 1-2 | Win | 120 | 13 h 44 m | Show
Taking the ANGELS here. This is again, the straight fade off McCullers on the road. Guy is totally different away from home. A 5.32 ERA while traveling, with a 3-9 record. Astros are 4-13 in his last 17 on the road. I can't come on here and say Ramirez is a great Anaheim pitcher. He has struggled also. But I will grab a home dog when I can, especially vs a guy who struggles in road starts. 4* Money Maker ANGELS |
|||||||
05-05-17 | Rangers v. Mariners +113 | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 18 m | Show
Taking the MARINERS here. Have to fade the Rangers in this spot. Mariners on a 5-0 run in this series at home. Yes, Texas is 4-1 in Yu's last 4 starts vs Seattle. But on the flip side, a 1-5 road trend and the M's 7-2 last 9 at home point me to the small home dog. For his career, Yu is 5-3 with a 4.45 ERA vs the Mariners. Texas 4-9 on the road so far, and 3-7 their last 10 overall. 4* Money Maker SEATTLE MARINERS |
|||||||
05-05-17 | Tigers +105 v. A's | 7-2 | Win | 105 | 12 h 18 m | Show
Taking the TIGERS here. Like Fulmer plain and simple. Think this a good spot for him vs Oakland. A's come in off a 2-7 road trip and face a tough pitcher on the hill tonight. 4* Money Maker DETROIT TIGERS |
|||||||
05-05-17 | Cardinals v. Braves -105 | 10-0 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 55 m | Show
Taking the BRAVES here. STL has won 10 of 15, but after my loss on Nova and the Pirates, I am staying away from lines I think look a little too good to be true. Neither teams bullpens have been a help. I think though that we get a strong outing from Foltynewicw tonight. He has been solid in his last 3 starts going 20 innings and giving up 4 earned and striking out 18. Guy hasn't been able to ring up a W yet, but that changes tonight. 4* Money Maker ATLANTA BRAVES |
|||||||
05-05-17 | Yankees +112 v. Cubs | 3-2 | Win | 112 | 15 h 41 m | Show
Taking the YANKEES here. Cubs still up and down at this points. Off an extra inning game vs Philly. NYY rested coming in. Pineda, though giving up HRs, has been dominating. Hendricks has giving up 7 earned in 10 innings at home this year on 10 hits, including 2 HRs. I'll grab NYY as a small pup. 4* Money Maker NYY YANKEES |
|||||||
05-04-17 | Pirates -113 v. Reds | 2-4 | Loss | -113 | 16 h 34 m | Show
Taking the PIRATES here. Have to grab Nova at this price. Guy has been great so far this year. A 1.50 ERA so far including a .198 BA Against a WHIP of .75. He has been even better in road starts posting numbers of 1.06 ERA, .140 BAA and .47 WHIP in 2 complete games, 1 shutout. After last nights 7-2 loss, I expect the Pirates to generate some offense off of Tim Adleman. He has already given up 5 HRs in his 15 innings of work this season. 4* Money Maker PITT PIRATES |
|||||||
05-03-17 | Blue Jays -103 v. Yankees | 6-8 | Loss | -103 | 12 h 37 m | Show
Taking the BLUE JAYS here. Just like Stroman more than CC. Haven't been on him all year, so I won't back him over the Jays. Especially with his 9.28 ERA in last 2 starts. Stroman is 5-2 2.17 ERA career vs NYY. 4* Money Maker |
|||||||
05-02-17 | Rockies -108 v. Padres | 2-6 | Loss | -108 | 23 h 16 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. This is all about 'road' Chatwood. Guy is totally different pitcher on the road. Already in 2017, a 7+ ERA at home, 2.40 on the road. Last year, 4-8 6.12 ERA at home, 8-1 1.69 ERA on the road. Colorado 12-4 in Chatwood's last 16 on the road. Rockies 4-1 in his last 5 here in San Diego. This line is screaming to me to take SD with the Chatwood splits. But at such a small price, I will have to take the overall better team at this number. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |
|||||||
05-02-17 | Indians -123 v. Tigers | 2-5 | Loss | -123 | 20 h 26 m | Show
Taking the INDIANS here. Have to grab Kluber at this price. Prior to last night, Tribe had won 8 of the last 10 in Detroit. Tigers are 1-9 in Verlander's last 10 starts vs the Indians, including 1-4 in his last 5 home starts. Cleveland has won 5 straight Kluber starts and is on a 20-9 run in the series overall. 4* Money Maker CLEVELAND INDIANS |
|||||||
05-01-17 | Mets v. Braves -113 | 7-5 | Loss | -113 | 20 h 60 m | Show
Taking the BRAVES here. We backed Teheran in his rainout start, and will come to him at home. I will be totally honest. You give up 25 runs in a game, and you should be very pissed off. Part of me wants to unload on the Mets for that display yesterday. And albeit giving up 25 is obscene, this NY bunch has been under-performing through out the start of the season. Teheran has the numbers vs the Mets. And even if this line is a little short in my eyes, will have to lay it. 4* Money Maker ATLANTA BRAVES |
|||||||
04-29-17 | Phillies +205 v. Dodgers | 5-6 | Loss | -100 | 22 h 16 m | Show
Have to say, I really don't like anything on the card today. Last night, 5 games, today, not so much. And truth be told on days like this, I would prefer a total pass. But a lot of you out there on my packages, even when I don't have something very strong, still want to here my thoughts on the day. Well, here they are -Thought about NYY on the RL with that terrible O's bullpen costing us a win. But not much of a return. Thought about Nova who has been pitching great. But I don't like backing teams when they steamroll an opponent the night before. And 12-2 is a true beating. Red Sox were a winner for us last night, and thought about an Over play in that match-up. Wright has been bad, and the Cubs hitters should work him over. But I have to settle on the PHILLIES and Zach Eflin tonight as an opinion play. Right off the bat, how in the heck is Brandon McCarthy a fave like this? Eflin has been solid in his 2 starts. 12 innings, 6 hits, 3 earned. Not getting hit around. And this Dodgers team has underachieved so far this year. As I am doing this write-up, the Phillies, who are on an 8-2 run their last 10, are up 2-0 in the 3rd. LA is 4-7 their last 11. No way I trust them laying this, so I'll just have to take a shot at the big pay-day. PHILLIES as a small opinion 1* selection |
|||||||
04-28-17 | Angels -117 v. Rangers | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 19 h 6 m | Show
Taking the ANGELS here. Part of me wants to take the home dogs for sure. I mean, Texas is 4-1 last 5 vs the Halos. They seem to win every series vs the Angels. We have LAA coming in off a night game flying across time zones. But then I see this line. We have a 3-8 road team favored, over a team with a winning home record. hmm. Now, most of you know that I would most certainly take a home dog over a small road fave. Heck. We are doing that with another premium pick tonight by not taking the Cubs and Jake Arrieta! Again though. I stick to something's that have proven to make me money year after year. And teams with losing road records, being favored, well, lets just say I really don't have to think twice. 4* Money Maker LAA ANGELS |
|||||||
04-28-17 | Cubs v. Red Sox +112 | 4-5 | Win | 112 | 18 h 17 m | Show
Taking the RED SOX here. Coming off b2b losses to the Yanks, Boston will look to take out some frustration the Cubbies and their old boss Theo Epstein. Look. I see this line and shake my head. Arrieta -Jake Arrieta - Cy Young, No-Hitter having 1.77 ERA in 2015, 18-8 last year, 426 strikeouts Jake Arrieta is a -120 fave over Drew Pomeranz? Drew Pomeranz who has 2, 2!! Winning seasons in his life 2-1 his rookie year 2011 with 4 games (4 starts) and 5-4 in 2014 with 20 games (10 starts). And yet we have this line. Maybe it's too good to be true. Cubs win 11-3. But odds-makers aren't into giving money away. Sign me up for the home dog. 4* Money Maker BOSTON RED SOX |
|||||||
04-28-17 | Orioles +119 v. Yankees | 11-14 | Loss | -100 | 18 h 27 m | Show
Taking the ORIOLES here. Have to fade the Yanks off their 2-game sweep of the BoSox. Let's be honest here people. New York./Boston is a huge series for both clubs. They don't like each other. I see a bit of let down for NY. Also. You know I am down on CC this year. He is going to implode. Orioles have plenty of bats in the lineup. Let's also not forgot Gausman. 6-3 2.24 career vs the Yanks. New York 2-8 in CC's last 10 starts vs Baltimore. 4* Money Maker BALTIMORE ORIOLES |
|||||||
04-27-17 | Marlins -107 v. Phillies | 2-3 | Loss | -107 | 3 h 45 m | Show
Taking the MARLINS here. Tough to get in front of a Philly train that has won 5 straight. They are playing very good right now. Just feel that Volquez has a big bounce-back this afternoon. Also I am seeing the Philly opened as a near -130 fave and are now small dogs even with Hellickson really dealing right now. Sometimes we have to buck a trend. Might be worth a small sprinkle of RL +145/150 on Miami here. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |
|||||||
04-26-17 | Astros v. Indians +108 | 6-7 | Win | 108 | 9 h 16 m | Show
Taking the INDIANS here. I know it is tough backing teams that are in a funk. And Cleveland, having lost 5 of the last 6 at home fits that bill. Especially since Houston has run off 10 of 12 in the opposite direction. But have some nice numbers working in our favor. One, we have McCullers on the hill for the visitors. The guys splits work in our favor. Just 3-8 with 5+ ERA on the road in his career. While for the Tribe, Trevor Bauer has been fantastic vs the Astros. 5 starts, 5 wins an ERA of 1.97 with 38Ks in 32 innings. Houston just 5-11 last 16 here in Cleveland. 4* Money Maker CLEVELAND INDIANS |
|||||||
04-24-17 | Nationals v. Rockies -128 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 11 h 36 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. I really wanted to pull the trigger with Colorado as a big Game of the Week. This is a great scheduling spot for them. They are off a sweep of the Giants. They are sitting at home, comfy in their beds. And they are watching the Nationals play the Sunday Night game on TV. At best, Washington will be leaving NY by midnight. Flying cross-country, to face a red hot team that has reeled off 6 wins in their last 7 games. Nats, as I write this, up 4-3 over their hated rivals, Top 4. This could be an extra inning affair the way things are going. Give me the ever so small home pups. 5* Best Bet COLORADO ROCKIES |
|||||||
04-21-17 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +130 | 5-13 | Win | 130 | 14 h 42 m | Show
Taking the DIAMONDBACKS here. Tough to lay with Wood. I am not a fan of backing guys off injury plagued seasons. And frankly, LAD hasn't been all that good to start the year anyway. Arizona has played well at home (6-1) and I'll grab them as a small dog. 4* Money Maker ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS |
|||||||
04-21-17 | Giants -115 v. Rockies | 5-6 | Loss | -115 | 13 h 57 m | Show
Taking the GIANTS here. Don't get me wrong, we are big fans of Tyler Chatwood. Just, we like to back him away from Coors Field. The guys splits are crazy. But he has been true to form to start the year. 0-1 at home with a 6.75 ERA and 1-1 2.40 on the road. Last year, 8-1 1.69 ERA 14 starts away, 4-8 6.12 ERA 14 starts home. Cueto has success vs the Rockies going 8-2 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 starts, including, 4-1 2.43 ERA at Coors Field. 4* Money Maker SF GIANTS |
|||||||
04-20-17 | Royals v. Rangers +100 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 59 m | Show
Taking the RANGERS here. I do like Duffy. I think he is very good. And part of me would like to back him as a very short road fave. But it is very hard to win every game 2-0. KC off a nice win over MadBum. And I lost with them the night before 2-1 in extra innings. They are simply not producing any offense. As good as Duffy has been, he has had problems with Texas. (5.30 ERA 4 starts) This is not a play on Cashner by any stretch. Just think that until the Royals offense starts to come around, I will have to fade. Especially on the road where they are 2-4 to start the year. Rangers have won 4 straight here in Texas vs KC, and 6 straight overall in the series. 4* Money Maker TEXAS RANGERS |
|||||||
04-20-17 | Tigers v. Rays -112 | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 4 h 58 m | Show
Taking the RAYS here. Nearly pulled the trigger on the +170 RL with them. Ramirez pitched well at home last 2 years, and has continued to do so in his early 2017. He normally comes in out of the pen for TB, but has over 60 starts under his belt. Rays playing well at home at 6-2. I know its hard to sweep a team, but that was a brutal loss last night for the Tigers. Sign me up for more home team magic. 4* Money Maker TAMPA BAY RAYS |
|||||||
04-19-17 | Orioles v. Reds -103 | 2-0 | Loss | -103 | 10 h 31 m | Show
Taking the REDS here. Like this youngster Garrett. Has 2 solid road starts under his belt. Still not a lot of tape on him. Should be able to mix things up vs the O's. And speaking of Baltimore, they wheel out Ubaldo Jimenez with his bloated 10+ ERA. He has averaged barely 4+ innings of work while getting battered around with a .385 BA Against and WHIP over 2. Give me the home team at nearly a PK'em 4* Money Maker CINCINNATI REDS |

04-18-17 | Rockies +155 v. Dodgers | 4-3 | Win | 155 | 22 h 22 m | Show
Taking the ROCKIES here. Dodgers are looking up at the division leading Rockies. Look. Ryu the better pitcher. You won't get any arguments out of me. But LAD has had their problems with lefties. At this price, we have to grab the dog. Ryu has been banged up the last 2 years. He is not 100% at all. Colorado has that old chip that rests firmly on their shoulder as LAD has won 6 of the last 8. Time for some payback. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES |

04-18-17 | Pirates +128 v. Cardinals | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 37 m | Show
Taking the PIRATES tonight. Lost with these guys yesterday, but am coming back to the table for seconds. We also have under here since both teams aren't really tearing things up a the plate. I just still think that this STL team is playing some sloppy ball and getting zero bullpen help over the last week. Kuhl 2.56 road ERA in his 9 career road starts. Mike Leake does not impress me. The guy is barely hitting 88 on the gun. I know he has been amazing, but there is a big regression on the horizon. 4* Money Maker PITTSBURGH PIRATES |

04-18-17 | Giants v. Royals -120 | 2-1 | Loss | -120 | 21 h 31 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. There are just some guys I refuse to back. Hello Matt Cain! Hammel is not any type of stud pitcher. You got me. But as I have said to start the year, Matt Cain is done. Send in the clowns. SF is sitting in the basement of the NL West. They have to fly to Kansas City for a 2 game set vs the AL Central? Then go Colorado to face the Rockies who they just lost 2 outta 3 to. Are they really 100% into this game or series? KC has won 4 straight. They have the old pep in their step, rally caps on, whatever you want to call it. As much as I dislike Cain, Hammel has been bad this year. But I think the KC offense carries the load for us tonight. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |

04-18-17 | Brewers +160 v. Cubs | 7-9 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 33 m | Show
Taking the BREWERS here. How can we not take this team right now? Cubs will be fine. They are winning 90+ games. But right now, they are pressing or whatever you want to say. No way that you will find me laying -180 because a good team is 'due.' The good team right now is in the visitors dugout. 4* Money Maker MILWAUKEE BREWERS |

04-18-17 | Tigers +105 v. Rays | 1-5 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 43 m | Show
Taking the TIGERS here. Like me some Fulmer. Kid was a nice guy to back last year. Tigers 20-6 in his starts. Against the Rays last year, 14 innings 21Ks and 1 earned. Not too shabby. He is looking to build off last year an is sporting a .92 WHIP in his first 2 starts. Andriese had a Spring to forget with an ERA approaching 7, 11 runs in 10.1 innings with 6 walks and 17 hits. That has carried over to his first 2 starts as teams are hitting him at a .292 clip. Detroit has won five straight at Tampa, and I expect more of the same tonight. 4* Money Maker DETROIT TIGERS |

04-17-17 | Pirates +119 v. Cardinals | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 1 m | Show
Taking the PIRATES here. And how can we not? You can say, hey, they just swept the Cubbies. No way they win today. Well, why wouldn't they? These guys are playing great right now. And for me, trends like this are huge on the bases. I had STL with C-Mart. He was a strikeout machine, but also a walk machine. Toss in some errors and it's a bad day all around. But this Cardinals team has looked terrible in the field the entire Yankees series. Losers of 3 straight, 8 of 10, 9 of 12. Nova had a very good spring and has looked solid so far in his 2 starts of 2017. Lynn has a 4.74 ERA vs Pitt for his career. (5-5 19 games, 17 starts). STL has just one regular hitting over .250. Can't back a team in a slump like this. 4* Money Maker PITT PIRATES |

04-16-17 | Mets v. Marlins +129 | 2-4 | Win | 129 | 5 h 17 m | Show
Taking the MARLINS this afternoon. Not a big fan of Harvey here. Clearly not the same pitcher. Straily hasn't been sharp so far, but had a nice stretch in 2016. Miami 5-1 last 6 vs Harvey. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS |

04-15-17 | Rockies v. Giants -118 | 5-0 | Loss | -118 | 17 h 17 m | Show
Taking the GIANTS here. This is what Chatwood has done his last 2 starts. Nearly identical numbers in both games. So we should expect 6 innings 7 hits 4 earned 2 HRs, 2BBs and 6Ks. - Last year, the guy was Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde with is splits. 4-8 6.12 ERA at home 8-1 1.69 on the road. That is why we are looking at a near Pk here people. Well Moore has a bit of that in him as well. He is on a tidy 5-0 run his last 5 at AT&T posting a 1.59 ERA going back to last year. He went 8 giving up just 3 hits to the DBacks on Monday. 4* Money Maker SF GIANTS |

04-15-17 | Cardinals +103 v. Yankees | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 30 m | Show
Taking the CARDINALS here. Clearly, CC has seen better days. If you had the big lefty with a 1.64 ERA in his first 2 starts, well take a bow. He gave the Yanks 4 really good years going 74-27 with an ERA around 3.20. Even year 5 at 14-13 4.78 211 innings wasn't horrible. Now the time has come to pay the piper on this contract. 3-4 5.28 (injuried) 6-10 4.73 29 starts, 9-12 3.91 30 starts. 2015 and 2016 couldn't get to 200 innings. Looking at this 1.64 ERA he has been lucky. In his 11 innings, 9 hits and 6 walks. That is what I call getting a bounce or 2. Sign me up on C-Mart. Last year on the road, 9-2 2.45 ERA (15 starts) - 2015 8-3 2.54 ERA (14 starts 15games). It is tough to fade NYY who have won 5 straight. But I just like this starter better. 4* Money Maker STL CARDINALS |

04-14-17 | Angels v. Royals -123 | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 11 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. Ok. This is more of a fade of JC Ramirez. Guy hasn't started a game ever in the majors, and last started in the minors in 2011. He isn't a huge strike out guy. I can't see him going more than 5 innings tonight. KC has limped out of the gate with limited hitting. But I think this Angels starter is a good remedy. Short price with the home team behind the lefty who had decent numbers (7-0 with a 3.57 ERA in 22 games -15 starts) at home last year. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |

04-13-17 | A's v. Royals -124 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 20 h 30 m | Show
Taking the ROYALS here. Yikes. Oakland has now won 8 straight vs KC including putting up a combined score off 55-13 last 6 here at Kauffman! But we have Jason Vargas - Off a gem first start striking out 6 over 6 against the Astros. Jesse Hahn last year posted an ERA over 13 in 4 road starts. Can't say he was sharp in Spring. He only had a 8.80 ERA 1.96 WHIP and a .352 BA against. I think the Royals snap out of their losing streak with a big home win tonight to avoid the sweep. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS |
|||||||
04-13-17 | Brewers -122 v. Reds | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 19 h 5 m | Show
Taking the BREWERS here. Maybe this is the year Jimmy Nelson has the big breakout. Don't be fooled by that 4+ spring ERA. .182 BA against and .92 WHIP shows me he had good stuff. He looked pretty good in his first start striking out 8 in 6 innings. You know I don't have faith in Bronson Arroyo. 4 innings 6 hits, 5 earned, 2 HRs, 3 BBs. Wow. Talk about filling up the stat line. You do know that Arroyo hadn't pitched since June of 2014 right! I know the Brewers aren't some juggernaught. But Nelson was one of the top arms in their system and is entering that breakout 27 age. Milwaukee being a small road fave tells me my line of thinking is correct. 4* Money Maker MILWAUKEE BREWERS |

04-13-17 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -112 | 2-1 | Loss | -112 | 19 h 37 m | Show
Taking the BLUE JAYS here. Ok. So I was thinking there is no way I can take the Jays. How can I grab a team on a 5 game losing streak, even if a small fave like this. Normally, against my better judgement. But I have to throw our hat into the ring here based on 1 thing. Kevin Gausman. Yes, he took a no-decision against these same Blue Jays on April 3rd. 5+ innings, 5 Hits 4 Ks 4 BBs and 2 earned. He skirted trouble. Which is easy when the lineup you face has 1 guy hitting over .250 - He has 7 walks in 10 innings this year. That is a recipe for disaster putting guys on base with really any MLB lineup. But I look at the road splits and have to fade the O's. Baltimore 8-22 in Gausman's last 30 road starts. 3-10 last year in 18 road starts. 1-6 the year before. At home, yeah, he's a playable option since he won't be laying a heavy number. On the road, fade train. Liriano comes in with an ERA of 135 and hitters are raking to a .750 clip! Ok, skewed numbers from a game where he lasted just a third of an inning with 3 hits and 4 walks 5 earned runs allowed. He pitched pretty good here in his 5 starts last season. 33Ks in 29 innings. A .200 BAA and 1.09 WHIP are respectable. So Toronto in off being shut out. Could be the worse offense in the AL right now. Pitcher off a nightmare start. What's not to like? 4* Money Maker TORONTO BLUE JAYS |

04-12-17 | Diamondbacks +111 v. Giants | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 23 h 41 m | Show
Taking ARIZONA here. Just like these guys right now. Winning 3-0 as I am writing this. Can't have faith in Cain, I said in his Game 1 write up. The guys workload has caught up with him. Injuries the last couple years. Shelby Miller was decent striking out 7 in 5+ after a terrible 2015. Sign me up with the small dogs. 4* Money Maker ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS |

04-11-17 | Orioles +115 v. Red Sox | 1-8 | Loss | -100 | 22 h 2 m | Show
Will grab the ORIOLES at this price. Have to like what we saw out of Bundy in his first start. But to be honest, this is about having zero faith in Drew Pomeranz. Guy just never looked comfortable here last year. 6.43 ERA in 7 games, 6 starts with a .293 BA against. I did like his stuff in Oakland, and thought after putting up decent numbers in SD, it would translate with this Boston line-up. i just have hard time taking guys, especially when they are faves, in their first games back from injury. Stem cell injections in his elbow over the fall? Triceps strain after poor spring outings? Now facing a Orioles lineup that can crush it? I'll take a stab on the dogs here. 4* Money Maker BALTIMORE ORIOLES |
