Taking the PADRES here. Going for round 3 here with SD. So we split the first 2 games here fading LAD. Cashner looked sharp in spring. I expect it to carry over, especially now that he can not be the lone bright spot on this team. He has Shields as the horse at the front, and even Ross, who is an equal to take some stress off. But the key is the lineup. What great moves. He doesn't have to worry about giving up a run or 2 and be like, uh, ok, I am losing 2-0. He has guys who can put runs up. Plus an anchor in the bullpen behind him. LAD will win their games, but early on, I see them stumbling a bit. McCarthy had a nice run with the Yanks. But his spring has been anything but smooth. A 6.62 ERA and a .306 BA against tell me he hasn't found his groove yet. 4* Money Maker SAN DIEGO PADRES

Taking the WHITE SOX here. This is a tough little squad from Chi-town. They retooled this off-season. I like their moves. Quintana is a nice little plug. Guy throws 200 innings and gives us quality starts every time out. Now, I have to say. I do pull for KC. But I think they lost a little in the off-season, especially with some club-house presence. Duffy is still a bit of a wild-card for me. I will grab the stable Sox here. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Taking the PIRATES here. I like this team. Like the young hitters. But I really like this kid Cole. I think he can be a Cy Young dark-horse. I know, I know. Kershaw is going 18-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 250Ks. But I think this kid, if Pitt takes yet another step forward can be a 20 game winner. He had a nice spring 1.02 WHIP and BA against of 2.17. The Reds to me, are Bruce and Votto in the line-up. I will say Leake was sharp this spring. I can't knock his March. Pirates to me are the better team, and a threat to unseat the Cards in the NL Central. 5* Best Bet PITT PIRATES

Taking the BLUE JAYS here. Yes again. We had them Monday, and will grab them here. I will be fading NYY most of the year. This line-up is not good. I am actually looking for Dickey to have a nice year. He gave up 2 runs in spring training with a .83 WHIP. I like Pineda. I think he can be a very good pitcher. He looked great this spring. But what is he? Is he the guy who was caught twice cheating? Does that make him look so good? I dunno. I do know that the Jays line-up, like I said Monday, can rake. 4* Money Maker TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Taking the PADRES here. Padres are going for it. They have some guys (Kemp, Upton, Meyers) who are looking to show teams they are not done. They just made a monster trade for the best reliever in baseball. They are playing the proverbial favorite, and big-bad, free-spending Dodgers. I like Greinke. But I right now, I think Ross is pitching very well out of spring training. He did 0-4 last year vs LAD. But he sported an ERA of 2.47. Now he actually has some major league level hitters as opposed to that terrible Padres offense of last year. He comes in out of spring after posting a 2.49 ERA, .203 BA against and a 1.11 WHIP striking out 25 in 21 innings. Greinke put up pedestrian numbers. Padres got to Kershaw for 3 yesterday. I don't think we will see Kelly in a late inning situation here giving up a 3 run bomb to an aging SS. 4* Money Maker SAN DIEGO PADRES

Taking the ROCKIES here. Look, I normally don't like taking a team after they put a 10 spot of runs. Especially a team like Colorado that has epic road woes. That being said. Tulo and Cargo make this machine go. They sure looked healthy and good to go yesterday. As much I want to be a fan of Garza, I think he can be hit. He had a rough spring with a 6.75 ERA and teams hitting him at a .347 clip. Granted, it is spring training, but sometimes pitchers stay in that kind of flow. As for Lyles, he sported a tidy 2.01 ERA with a .90 WHIP and an BA against .135. I also take note that last April, he started 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA. 4* Money Maker COLORADO ROCKIES

Taking the METS here. It would be easy to grab a -190 fave. I mean, what can possibly go wrong. A $210 million dollar starter. Woo-Hoo. Forget that. Scherzer can go 8 and hold the Mets to a run. But where is the offense coming from for the Nats. Span, Rendon and Werth on DL. That is probably your best hitter. Your lead-off man. And a good power source. Let's not short change the fact Nats traded Clippard who was the man for them out of the pen last year. Mets are scrappy and catching this number, worth the play. 4* Money Maker NY METS

Taking the BLUE JAYS here. Right off the bat I will be fading NYY all season long. Their line-up is long in the tooth, and short on guys staying healthy. Now, if Tanaka wasn't pitching with his arm hanging on by a thread, maybe we would think of NYY RL here. But this Jays offense looks to be pretty lethal. Reyes should score 110 runs with Joey Bats, EE and A's transplant Donaldson slugging behind him. Again, not sold on Tanaka even with last years impressive numbers vs Toronto. 4* Money Maker TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Taking the GIANTS here. We had SF to win the series and I feel they close it out here a week after they cashed in Game 1. Too much pressure for KC. They just haven't hit and I think the weight of elimination will be their undoing tonight. Ventura was hit in his last WS start. 5.1 innings, 8 hits. That is a .348 BA against. This veteran SF lineup will again wait things out. They have proven they can hit the bullpen. Peavy won't be super, but he keeps you in the game. And that is all SF needs here to win their 3rd title in 3 years. 5* Best Bet SF GIANTS

Taking the GIANTS here. We rode KC like a dime store pony since the playoffs began and that is why we are a 18-9-1 (67%) run with our MLB. But I will gladly grab the best pitcher in the series in Bumgarner here. Yes, KC took care of business when these guys played in August. SF wasn't playing very well. Totally different team. Bumgarner sporting a .76 WHIP in the playoffs to go with a .170 BA against and 1.42 ERA. I like Shields, but 'Big Game' has been anything but in the playoffs with a 5.63 ERA and a .309 BA against, 1.63 WHIP. KC wasn't exactly crushing the ball this season. Taking the ROYALS here. I, like pretty much everyone else in the free world wrongly assumed that the A's locked up the division with the Cubs trade. They they grabbed Lester. But they traded their biggest bat. This team is clearly a shell of its former self without that heavy lumber in the middle. You can say by going 10-20 down the stretch that Oakland backed into the playoffs. KC is just playing well. I like this scrappy bunch. Shields is no stranger to the post season. I know Lester has some stud numbers. And I am not discounting them. But I think the Royals will be able to do what they have done all year. Scrape out some runs. 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS
