DMack's NBA Play of the Day is the Portland Trailblazers on the Money Line The Spurs are just not very good. 6-13 overall and 2-7 on the road. They are also 0-3 in division and 1-10 vs. the Western Conference. Damian Lillard is out 10 days with abdominal strain but the Blazers have no excuses here. Portland with the ultimate home road dichotomy, 10-1 at home, and a nasty 1-10 on the road. Tonight, they're a bit short handed by still have enough to handles a Spurs team with nowhere to go but down. Taking the money line here rather lay the -3 just to cover bases and only asking Portland to win without Lillard.

They live and die by the three but already own a 20 point win at Dayton, a team that has already won at Belmont and Kansas this year. Both teams are what they are .... 20 win mid-majors out the Atlantic Sun and Ohio Valley. Just can't imagine this game falling double-digits in any scenario.

DMACK'S ACC/BIG TEN CHALLENGE SUPER PLAY winner is on the Michigan Wolverines North Carolina has not been a top a program in several years now and it's still a work in progress now and for the immediate future. The 4-2 Heels have played two legit opponents and got smoked by Purdue and Tennessee. You could say almost the same for Michigan but the Wolverines are supremely talented and likely just off to a slow start. Michigan has a pretty good run of upcoming opponents including San Diego State, Minnesota, and Central Florida and would be well served to get off to a good start here. The line move reflects the better team and we're still basically asking the Wolverines to win.

That said, prefer the home team here in a pick'em affair. The Deacs are off their first loss of the year vs. a pretty good LSU team and have had three days to stew and pull themselves together. Northwestern will be much improved from last year but they've really just gone on the road once and got beat by seven at Providence. This is a nice spot for Wake and Steve Forbes to start a Wake resurgence in the ACC.

The Panthers are in a complete rebuild and just don't have much talent. They have even less scoring currently ranking No.325 of 354 Div I teams. Minnesota is 5-0 as it starts life without Richard Pitino. Ben Johnson is a young energy guy that has hit team playing hard and playing very good defense. Expect Portland to blow it all up before the trade deadline. Not sure what to think of 13-7 Utah except that they are loaded yet haven't shown up to play every night. They have played well vs. their division (3-0) and in conference (8-2) so I'll give them a pass. Don't see Utah NOT getting up for Portland and if they're on, win this easily by 14-18 points. Charlotte is only 6-6 on the road but really seemed to have turned the corner and these are the type of games they have to win if they're going to be a factor in the playoffs. Charlotte is just the opposite. 12-8, 6-6 on the road and 6-2 at home where they've been very tough to beat. The Hornets have won four of five with the loss at Atlanta ... no shame there. Golden State has just rolled the their first 15 games, now 13-2 with a whopping +13.7 point differential. The Warrior barely broke a sweat in crushing Cleveland last night with no one of significance playing any minutes of serious consequence in the front end of this back-to-back. DMACK'S SATURDAY NBA PLAY OF THE DAY is on the Phoenix Suns It took a week for the Sund to get going but they've now won three straight by 12-12-9 points, all at home, and appear to have some swagger back. They face an Atlanta bunch that has lost four of five to the Eastern Elite, all fore and three on the road by double-digits. The Utah-Phoenix and the Utah-Denver swings are always the toughest in basketball and the Jazz just clobbered the Hawks by 18 less than 48 hours ago. Phoenix wins this by 10-14.

DMACK'S FRIDAY NBA PLAY OF THE DAY is on the Sacramento Kings We used the Kings as our Play of the Day on Wednesday and rewarded with a 13-point winner (-5.5) over New Orleans. Right back against the Hornets who are a .500 Eastern Conference team that's not that special. The Kings are 1-2 at home but remember that the losses were to Utah and Golden State to open the season and the win against the Pelicans. Sacto is a hard team to match up against with it's wing scoring and tough defense. An average shooting night by the Kings means an easy double-digit win.

DMACK'S THURS NBA PLAY OF THE DAY WINNER is on the Utah Jazz The Jazz are just back from a 3-1 roadie that included B2Bs at the Bulls and Bucks last weekend. The Hawks have been very ordinary although we'll find out here is the 3-0 (home, 1-4 (road) split mans anything. The Hawks are still a work in progress where I see the Jazz more like Tampa Bay in the NHL that built their character last year but are ready to challenge for a championship this year. Jazz by 10.

DMack's Weds NBA Power Pack winner is on the Sacramento Kings The Kings have done some nice things early on and have shown they can hang with the best of the West and even win on occasion. When the team is on and shooting well, they're tough to deal with as they have so many ways to go. The Kings are 0-2 at home but those losses were to Utah in their opener and a two-point loss to Golden State, no shame in either of those. The 1-7 Pelicans come to town with no Zion and not much going for them. Sacramento by 12-15.

DMack's Weds NBA Power Pack winner is on the Dallas Mavs This is a rematch of a close game in Dallas six days ago won by the Mavs (-4.5) 105-99. Both teams have been in and out and strangely enough you can blame the Mavs slow start on Luka who has shot miserably in the Mavs first seven games. Mavs have been playing a lot of guys and spreading out the minutes. Thinking that Jason Kidd might start tightening things up here and and putting Luka to work. Just asking the Mavs to win and these are games they must do just that is they hope to be more than an after thought in the highly competitive West.

They have the biggest point differential in the league at better than 17+ per game. Dallas has played well but unspectacular at home in their first three games but they''ve developed a bad habbit of poor starts that won't work here. If Dallas gets down 22-4 here. Miami will step on their throats and twist the knife. Miami by 10.

In Thursday's win over the Spurs, Jason Kidd used every one of his eligible players after the Mavs went down 25-5 to open the game. Dallas has had time here and should be sharp start to finish with Luka leading the way. Indiana games are averaging 235+ while Toronto games average 199 per and that is skewed somewhat by their loss to Philadelphia. The Raptors are 0-3 at home and this is not a good matchup stylistically for the Barneys. The Pacers WILL get theirs but can Toronto trade and keep up. Probably not. Take the Pacers.
