Marshall has showed well this season in non-conference play and now in Conference USA play. The Thundering Herd trampled over competition early, winning four straight games and five of six. The Herd opened conference play with a convincing win at Florida International, 94-70. Marshall has also done well in the favorite role, covering 19 of the last 26. Florida Atlantic (FAU) didn't fare so well, opening the season with three straight losses and losing five of seven. Conference play didn't start any better, as the Owls lost at home to Western Kentucky, 69-54. In addition, the Owls have only covered three of their last 11 conference games. Marshall laying 5.5 on the road, however I don't see that as much of a challenge for the Herd. Play Marshall.

William & Mary struggled through its non-con schedule with games against powerhouses like Louisville and Duke. The Tribe did show some flashes of excellence, but those came against Savannah State, Milligan and Bridegwater. W&M opened CAA Conference play with a loss at Northeastern, 84-64. This is a tough spot for the Tribe, as they play their fourth straight road game tonight. Hofstra had a very good non-con schedule, posting a 8-5 record. The Pride opened conference play with a win at Delaware, 58-56. Not surprisingly, the home team has been the team to play in this series as they are 9-3 ATS the last 12 meetings. I'll lay the points here with HOFSTRA against a road-weary William & Mary club.

Siena opens their regular Metro Atlantic Conference play tonight. The Saints did have a pair of conference foes sandwiched between their other non-conference scheduled games. They beat Fairfield and lost to Rider in those early December contests. The Saints are just 4-9 S/U and 3-4 ATS on the season. Canisius also had the same early schedule, as they beat Manhattan and lost to Monmouth. However, unlike Siena, the Golden Griffins have won five straight games and seven of eight. In addition, they have covered five straight. This series has been dominated by the home club, evidenced by a 7-3 ATS the record the last 10 games. In addition, the favorite is 22-8-1 the last 31 meetings. Very surprised at the two points Canisius is laying at home. They are the much better club and have home court in the series on their side. Excellent matchup here in the Diamond Heat Classic final round as 10-2 San Francisco takes on 7-4 San Diego State. The SF Dons have won three straight and six of their last seven games including wins over Utah (as 11.5 point dog) and Illinois State (as 6.5 pt dog). This will be the final contest for San Francisco before they start West Coast Conference play on the 29th. Meanwhile, San Diego State isn't quite as good as previous editions of this team. The Aztecs have won three straight games after losing three. Most shockingly, was the Aztecs loss to Grand Canyon State, 76-72 and Chicago Illinois, 65-59. Long time Head Coach Steve Fisher has only won a single tournament in his career and that was the Rainbow Classic back in 1992 with Michigan. I think this five point line is too high for the Aztecs, which have struggled this year against far inferior teams. I'm taking the points with San Francisco here.

12/06 07:00 PM EST CB (515) SO MISSISSIPPI VS (516) FLORIDA STATE. Take: (516) FLORIDA STATE Reason: Southern Miss is winless on the road and has a tough task here. Turnovers have been a huge issue, with the Golden Eagles averaging 18.3 to rank 344th out of 347 Division I schools, and the Seminoles are the kind of athletic defensive team that can feast on their opponents' miscues. Florida State's defensive intensity has picked up with Minnesota, Illinois and George Washington shooting a combined 29.7 percent, including a 22.7-percent effort by the Colonials in FSU's 67-48 win on Sunday. George Washington shot 20 percent and committed 11 turnovers in the opening half Sunday as the Seminoles jumped to a 35-19 halftime lead. The Seminoles are on a 6-2 ATS run at home, 15-4-1 ATS in their last 20 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game. Play Florida State.

Connecticut brings a 3-4 S/U and 0-5 ATS mark into this game with Syracuse from Madison Square Garden. The Huskies have struggled, losing to Wagner by nine and Northeastern by three. The Huskies were ranked 16th in the preseason polls, but that quickly changed with two losses out of the gate. It won't get any easier tonight against ranked Syracuse. The Orange are 5-2 S/U and 1-2 ATS to start the season. Syracuse plays a tough zone defense that has held opponents to just 35.4% from the field this year and 25% from the 3-point arc. The Orangemen have a lot of depth on this club and should easily handle the struggling Huskies here tonight. Play Syracuse.

The Panthers may have benefited from those tough games, as they rebounded with wins over Eastern Kentucky by 17 and Wright State by seven. Mississippi State enters today's contest at 5-2 S/U and 3-2 ATS. The Bulldogs have been very inconsistent, barely getting by Norfolk State, 78-74, and losing to Legigh, 87-73. The 'dogs then turn around and beat Oregon State 74-57. Georgia State is tops in the Sun Belt Conference and 12th in the nation in steals (9.7). The Panthers are also 26th in the season in field goal defense, holding opponents to just 37.2% from the field. This is an experienced Georgia State club that knows how to make opportunities. PSU lost to Duke, 78-68 as a 19-point dog. With just three games left before Big 10 play, this is a critical road test for the Lions. The Lions don't start a senior on this squad and in fact look to three freshman starts and two Juniors. Meanwhile. George Washington started the season 3-0 before losing back-to-back contests in the CBE Classic to Georgia and UAB. Not much expectation for this year's edition of the Colonials, with three starters gone from last year and the team picked 8th in the conference. This game comes down to the speed and pressure of Penn State against the size of George Washington. This is an important road game for Penn State if they hope to prove worthy of moving forward.
