The Golden State Warriors nine games left and a 4 1/2 game lead for the best record in the NBA over the Spurs. Baring a catastrophe, the Warriors should be on cruise control into the playoffs. Which is what we have seen lately from the Warriors. While they are still winning, they are not covering. The Warriors are just 1-5 ATS their last six games. Normally, we would see them totally bury a team like Philadelphia at home when leading by double digits at half time. But in Sunday's contest, they did little to build that lead, instead opting to rest their star players. Washington does have a chance to still make the playoffs, but every win counts now. The Wizards are 2 1/2 back of 8th place Detroit for that final spot. So expect an all out effort here tonight. While the Wizards might not win, they should cover as the double digit dog.

The OKC Thunder has a solid hold on the No 3 spot in the NBA. Unless they totally collapse, that looks to be the spot they will occupy come playoff time. The Thunder played last night at Toronto and totally dominated the Raptors, 119-100. It was the club's seventh OVER in the last nine games. Detroit has had two nights off to prepare for tonight's contest. The Pistons are holding onto the 8th and final spot in the East playoff picture. The Pistons have a 2 1/2 game lead over the Wizards. Detroit has won five of their last six games and have posted a nice over record of 7-2-1 their last 10. The Pistons have been hot and scoring and I like the OVER here again on Tuesday.

The Nets are just 1-5 ATS the last six times in this spot. Meanwhile, Orlando has nine more wins than the Nets. The Magic finally snapped their six game losing streak with a nice 111-89 home win over the Bulls on Saturday. Orlando has had two days off to rest for this game, something big this time of year. During these final games of the regular season, teams are wearing down and a team with no rest vs a team with two days rest is quite big. Orlando is 2-1 ATS vs the Nets this season and 6-2 ATS the last eight meetings. I like this spot for the Magic. Play Orlando against a tired Nets club.

Bailout Blaster: Reason: The Dallas Mavericks have struggled of late. The Mavs have picked a bad time to slump, as they have now dropped out of the playoff picture, trailing Houston by a 1/2 game for the final West spot. The good news is that they are just 2 1/2 games back of 6th place Portland. But the team has to do better than the 2-9 slump they are in the last 11 games. With a line close to pick here tonight, they need to win outright to get the money. Denver returns home after playing six of the last seven on the road. The Nuggets have won two straight, but that was against the Lakers and Sixers, so nothing to get excited about. Dallas has covered two of the three matchups with Denver this year and narrowly lost the one game in Colorado, 116-114. The Nuggets are a scrappy bunch, but with no real name players they have to win by committee. I'm taking the Mavs here tonight with their playoff season on the line.

Reason: Dog Game of the Week: Very rare home dog role here for the Toronto Raptors. This season, Toronto has only been installed as the home dog four times. Two times as a home dog vs Cleveland - two straight up wins. Home dog vs San Antonio - straight up win. Home dog vs Golden State - loss straight up, but covered the spread. The weakest of that group, Oklahoma City, now is favored at Toronto. I think we can throw out any other stats here. Toronto will win this game outright. Take the Raptors.

Reason: NBA East Game of the Year : The Brooklyn Nets have nothing left to play for this season, but not so for Miami. The Heat are currently 5th in the East. However, only one game separates them from the third spot and four games from being out of the playoffs. So a lot at stake for the Heat in every game. That's why I like them so much here, they get an opponent they should dominate. The Heat have covered three of their last four games. The club also gets two days off rest to prepare for tonight's game. The Heat have also done well against their East opponents, covering 14 of the last 19. Meanwhile, the Nets have covered just one of their last five away games. The Heat are 6-1 ATS the last seven times these clubs have met and I look for another big win here tonight. Play the Heat.

Playoff spots are going fast in the Eastern Conference and Boston right now is holding on fifth place. However, they are just 1 1/2 games back of third and four games out of the playoffs all together. Boston has not been playing well of late, though they did come up big on Sunday at Philadelphia, 120-105. It was just the second win for the Celtics in their last seven games. In addition, Boston is just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games. Orlando will not make the post season, as they sit 6 1/2 games back of the last spot. While not mathematically eliminated, they have to face reality. Still, Orlando has been covering games, with four in a row after Sunday's cover at Toronto. Take: (720) TEXAS A&M Reason: Northern Iowa is off a thriller, as Paul Jesperson's buzzer-beating heave from beyond half court banked in to lift the No. 11 seed Panthers to a remarkable 75-72 victory over Texas in the first round. But this is a tough matchup as Northern Iowa lacks height in the frontcourt and faces a dominant Texas A&M defense. The Aggies rolled to their first tournament win in six years with a 92-65 rout of Green Bay on Friday. Danuel House scored 20 points and Texas A&M shot 56.1 percent to win for the ninth time in 10 games. Texas A&M is on a 6-1 ATS run and 9-4 ATS in NCAA Tournament games. Play Texas A&M.

Middle Tennessee State has plenty of flaws, ranked No. 9 in scoring in Conference USA, plus dead last in three throw shooting (.617%). It's remarkable they've gotten this far, giving up 90 points in a C-USA tourney game and beating Old Dominion in the title game by one basket. Seton Hall opened as a dog here and has had an incredible run through the Big East tournament as they defeated both Xavier and Villanova as a dog to win the Conference Tournament Championship. The Big East Title earned the Pirates a No 6 seed in the NCAA tourney. Seton Hall makes its first appearance in the big dance in 10 years and will face 11th seeded Gonzaga. The Zags needed to win the West Coast Conference title from St Mary's in order to get their NCAA bid. The win left St Mary's on the outside looking in. Seton Hall has won 12 of their last 14 games S/U and is 14-3 ATS their last 17 games. Gonzaga has won five in a row, both S/U and ATS. However, this is not the same Bulldogs team that advanced to the Elite Eight last season. Gonzaga was just 1-3 S/U this year against ranked opponents. Big difference here in the competition these teams have played. Gonzaga had really just St Mary's to contend with in the WCC. 3/16 07:05 PM EST NBA (607) OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER VS (608) BOSTON CELTICS. Take: (607) NBA Avenger Game of the Year: Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City has star power, a strong team in the more dominant West, ranked No. 6 in field goal shooting defense and No. 2 in scoring offense. They are also rested for this one, on a 4-1 spread run. They face a Boston team short one key player (Crowder) because of an injury and playing the second of a back to back spot, at Indiana last night. The Thunder are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings, including 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Boston. The Celtics pulled the upset earlier in the year at OKC, 100-85 blowout as a +5.5 dog, so the visitors have payback. Play Oklahoma City.

San Diego State had to settle for the NIT after losing in the Mountain West Championship game to Fresno, 68-63. The Aztecs still had an excellent season at 25-9 and many feel the were snubbed by the selection committee in favor of weaker teams. When looking at a matchup like this, you have to take these things into consideration. IUPU Fort Worth had a nice season, finishing 23-9 and coming within one point of that automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Mastadons lost to North Dakota State, 69-68. The Mastadons will make their first ever NIT appearance here tonight. IPFW has a balanced attack with four players averaging in double figures, led by Max Landis and his 19.5 ppg. Motivation has to be a big part of the picture in these "other" tournaments. The Mastadons played a lot of games on the road, going 12-8 this season S/U away from home. They are no stranger to playing in front of hostile crowds. I'm going to take the points here with the Mastadons.

Florida struggled in SEC conference play this season and down the stretch was just 2-5 S/U. Moreover, the Gators really took a bite out of bettors wallets with a 3-9 ATS run to close out the season. North Florida ended the season with a 22-11 S/U record. They only had two games against the spread and split those. The Ospreys played a tough non-conference schedule, with games against Illinois, Louisville, St Louis, LSU, Dayton, Arkansas and VCU. This type of game really helps North Florida more than it does Florda. The Ospreys are vying for the same athletes as the Gators and a win here would give them a little extra recruiting bump. Only 71 miles separate these schools and I look for North Florida to have all the motivational factors in this US-301 rivalry. Take North Florida.
