Mississippi State enters today's contest at 5-2 S/U and 3-2 ATS. The Bulldogs have been very inconsistent, barely getting by Norfolk State, 78-74, and losing to Legigh, 87-73. The 'dogs then turn around and beat Oregon State 74-57. Georgia State is tops in the Sun Belt Conference and 12th in the nation in steals (9.7). The Panthers are also 26th in the season in field goal defense, holding opponents to just 37.2% from the field. This is an experienced Georgia State club that knows how to make opportunities. South Dakota State has is just 1-5, with four of those games on the road. Their only win came against Div II Wayne State. The Jackrabbits are shooting just 36% from the field thus far. ETSU leads the nation in field goal percentage, hitting at a .661 pace. Not only is ETSU expected to finish near the top of their division, but they are also ranked 22nd in the Mid-Major polls. This is a talented ETSU squad, which can shoot lights out. They have too much here for this undermanned Jackrabbit club. Play East Tennessee St

Penn State already into its 7th game of the young season, with a 3-3 S/U and 2-2 ATS mark. The Nittany Lions have beaten Duquesne and then gave Duke all it could handle. PSU lost to Duke, 78-68 as a 19-point dog. With just three games left before Big 10 play, this is a critical road test for the Lions. The Lions don't start a senior on this squad and in fact look to three freshman starts and two Juniors. Meanwhile. George Washington started the season 3-0 before losing back-to-back contests in the CBE Classic to Georgia and UAB. Not much expectation for this year's edition of the Colonials, with three starters gone from last year and the team picked 8th in the conference. This game comes down to the speed and pressure of Penn State against the size of George Washington. This is an important road game for Penn State if they hope to prove worthy of moving forward. Excellent 2nd round matchup here in the Advocare Invitational between Gonzaga and Florida. Gonzaga had to travel all the way across the country for this tournament, while Florida is in its own backyard. Gonzaga is 4-0 S/U and 0-1 ATS thus far. The Zags haven't played anyone of consequence yet and failed to cover the 27.5 point line in their 82-62 win over Quinnipiac last night. Florida brings a 5-0 S/U and 3-1 ATS mark into tonight's contest. The Gators have spread wins over Mercer, Belmont and Seton Hall. Gonzaga is ranked 11th in the country and have won their first four games by an average of 25.8 ppg. This will be the first big text for Gonzaga this season, while Florida can gain some national recognition with a win. I also like that Florida is close to home while Gonzaga is playing about as far away in the contiguous states. Take the points here with Florida.

Temple enters today's NIT Season-Tip off winning last night's opening round contest against Florida State, 89-86. The cover makes Temple 4-0 against the spread so far this year. The Owls had to overcome an 18-point deficit in the 2nd half to beat FSU. Freshman Quinton Rose led the team with 26-points. West Virginia is 4-0 S/U and 1-0 ATS to start the season. The Mountaineers also played last night and beat Illinois, 89-57. WVU has been hitting very well from both the field and 3-point land. However, their one weakness thus far is shooting free throws, where they are just 60.4% thus far. WVU laying 13 points here and if they have trouble from the free stripe, they won't cover this big of a number. Play Temple.

Most clubs like to pad their early season schedule with small schools or Div 2 clubs. Not so much for Alabama, as they have already faced Dayton and Ball State to open the season. The Tide is 2-1 both S/U and ATS, with their loss coming to Dayton, 77-72. Alabama has been firing from long range, averaging 9.3 three-point field goals per game. The Tide also have a very good bench, evidenced by their bench output equaling Ball State's total points in their matchup. Valparaiso is 3-1 S/U and 0-2 to start the season. Their one test came at Oregon, where they lost 76-54 as 12 point dogs. Short line here tonight with Alabama laying just two-points. I like the Tide with their sharp shooters hitting early. The bad news is the fact that the club's outstanding backcourt has struggled from beyond the three point arc, averaging just 29.6 percent. Four players scored in double figures. In addition, UTA returns all five starters to this year's team. Meanwhile, Minnesota also opened with a win, beating UL Lafayette, 86-74. Unlike UTA, Minnesota's squad debuted five new players. This game really comes down to experience. We have UTA with five starters back, including a very good backcourt duo. Then we have Minnesota, who has two freshman starters and five new players to the team. Minnesota may be better this year, but it also might take them time to gel. I'm taking the visitor, UTA.

They looked lost on offense, a stagnant game with LeBron and Kyrie Irving holding onto the ball with little movement from anyone else. It cost them, as the offense was terrible from long range and even the free throw line. The Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, plus 7-18-1 ATS following a straight up loss of more than 10 points. By contrast, the Warriors have exceptional ball movement on offense and play better team defense. The Warriors are 36-14-2 ATS at home vs. a team with a winning road record, plus 34-15-2 ATS playing on two days rest. 06/08 09:00 PM EST NBA (505) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS VS (506) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Take: (505) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS Reason: The Warriors look unbeatable so far in the FInals, winning both the first games in landslides. So far the Cavs cannot handle the defensive pressure of Golden State, resulting in just 77 points in Sunday's 33-point loss. To make matters even worse, Kevin Love suffered a concussion in the first half after an elbow to the head and his status is unknown for game three. Love did return to play in the second half, but observers stated that he looked disoriented on defense. But in all fairness to Love, he's always looked disoriented on defense. The Warriors have won the first two games without Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson being their high scorer. Draymond Green led the Warriors in game two with 28 points. Unless the Cavaliers can figure out the defensive switching strategy of the Warriors, this could be a very quick series. In addition, James is looking his advanced years, now 33-of-80 (83 points) in his last four games against the Warriors. I just don't trust the Cavaliers at this point and I'm sticking with the team that is looking every bit the Champion they are. Take Golden State.

Golden State, led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson tied the game with just under three minutes. Thompson set a playoff record with 11 three-points in a game and outscored the Thunder by 15 points to win going away 108-101. Now the clubs return to Northern California where the Thunder will almost certainly have a major letdown. That's what I'm counting on here, that and the knowledge that Golden State won't let the Thunder beat them twice on their home court. Thompson and curry combined for 70 points to lead the Warriors to the win. Favorites of 5 or more points on their home court in game 7 are 22-8 ATS. I'm taking the Warriors here tonight. Get on this line early, because the price will go up on the Warriors. Play Golden State

Golden State had a series saving game on Thursday with a win over the Thunder, 120-111. Now the Warriors have to do something they haven't this entire series, win at Oklahoma City. It's a win or go home game for the Warriors. One thing the Warriors have done is slow down the game a bit. Sure, then wen't over in game 5, but that required big 2nd and 4th quarters to do so. The Warriors also stayed "big" in game five, keeping their small-ball squad on the bench as they went with size. The Thunder will have to improve on what turned out to be one of their worst performances of the season in the pain on Thursday. The Thunder, despite the game 5 loss, are still a very confident team in their ability to beat Golden State. Tonight's game really is a MUST-WIN spot for the Thunder. They realize that going back to Northern Cal will likely result in a game seven loss. Tonight's contest could be the most important in Oklahoma City history and I'm taking them here tonight laying the short number.
