12/28 07:35 PM EST NBA (705) MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS (706) DETROIT PISTONS. Take: (705) MILWAUKEE BUCKS Reason: The Pistons have the best scoring defense in the Eastern Conference, but a lack of offensive power has the club at just 15-18 on the season and losers of seven of the last 10 games. Point guard Reggie Jackson has returned to the lineup, but that hasn't seemed to provide any spark to the club. The Pistons are coming off a win over Cleveland, however the Cavs sat most of their stars for that contest. The Bucks can get back to the .500 mark with a win tonight. The Bucks have lots of young talent, starting with forward Giannis Antetokounmpo who is leading the team ins scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Milwaukee has done well in this series, covering eight of the last 11 meetings and seven of the last 10 in Detroit. The Pistons struggle too much on offense to lay four points to a young Bucks club that I can see winning outright here tonight. Take Milwaukee.

12/28 07:05 PM EST NBA (701) INDIANA PACERS VS (702) WASHINGTON WIZARDS. Take: (701) INDIANA PACERS Reason: Indiana was above .500, but a three-game losing streak has pushed the club back to 15-17 on the season. Paul George leads the club in scoring (21.4 ppg) and Jeff Teague in assists (7.2). Meanwhile, the Wizards are just behind the Pacers in the standings with a 14-16 record. The strength of this club is their excellent backcourt duo of Bradley Beal and John Wall. What this team really needs is a third player to contribute more. The dog has really had its way in this series, covering 19 of the last 27. In addition, the road team is 20-6 the last 26 meetings and Indiana is 7-0 ATS the last seven meetings in Washington. These are very well matched clubs and I expect a close game. I'll take the points with Indiana which could win this one outright.

12/27 07:35 PM NBA (507) UTAH JAZZ VS (508) LOS ANGELES LAKERS. Take: (507) UTAH JAZZ Reason: Lakers had a nice home win over their intrastate rival Clippers on Christmas day, 111-102. The win snapped a 1-6 road trip. Still, the Lakers are just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 4-10 ATS their last 14 overall. The Jazz still have the league's best scoring defense (95.2 ppg). Injuries have plagued the Jazz this year. The Jazz are 5-2 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Lakers and 4-1 ATS in their last five in LA. Lakers just too inconsistent for me to look for them to cover two straight. I'm going to lay the points on the road here with the Jazz.

12/27 04:35 PM NBA (501) MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES VS (502) BOSTON CELTICS. Take: (502) BOSTON CELTICS Reason: The Boston Celtics quietly have been the third best team in the East with a 18-13 record. Isaiah Thomas leads the club in points (27 ppg) and assists (6.2). Thomas has scored at least 20 points in 15 straight games. Al Horford has also been a big addition to the club and a reason why they are in third. The Grizzlies are also having a good season with a 20-13 record. While the Grizzlies don't score a lot (97.4 ppg), they do have the league's second best scoring defense (97.3 ppg). Expect a lower scoring affair in this one tonight with the Celtics getting the cover. Play Boston.

12/27 04:35 PM NBA (503) OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER VS (504) MIAMI HEAT. Take: (504) MIAMI HEAT Reason: The Thunder are 19-12 and have won three straight. Russell Westbrook leads the team in scoring with 31.7 ppg. The Thunder are the 9th highest scoring team in the NBA with a 107.0 ppg average. The Thunder won on Christmas day over the T'Wolves, with Westbrook chipping-in 31-points and 15 assists. The Heat really don't have a lot of scoring options on this team other than Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside. The Heat are just 5-11 at home this season, though they have covered six of their last eight overall. Even though OKC has the better offense, the Heat have covered six of the last eight meetings in Miami. I look for the Heat to hang in this contest and get the cover. Play Miami.

Two struggling teams face off today when the Mavericks travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans. Dallas is 9-21 on the season, though they have won two straight games. The Pelicans are 11-21 and won their last game. Dallas struggles offensively, averaging just 94.1 ppg (3oth). Dallas pulled a pair of road upsets though, beating the Clippers 90-88 and the Blazers, 96-95. The Pelicans are led by Anthony Davis, who averages 29.7 ppg. In their win over the Heat, Davis became just the 4th player this season with at least 25 points and 20 rebounds in a game. The Mavs are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings between these clubs and 6-2 in New Orleans. I look for Dallas to keep this score low and that's the kind of game they can win. Play Dallas.

The Milwaukee Bucks have not been a good road team, posting a 4-11 ATS mark their last 15 away games. Still, the Bucks are 14-14 and in 7th in the NBA East Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the team in scoring (23.4 ppg), assists (5.8) and field goal percentage (52.5). In addition, the star forward has scored at least 20 points in seven straight games. The Bucks just played the Wizards on Friday night, with Antetokounmpo scoring 39 points en route to a 123-96 drubbings of Washington. The favorite really has had it's way in this matchup, covering nine of the last 10 meetings. In addition, the Wizards have covered four of the last five in Washington. Excellent matchup here in the Diamond Heat Classic final round as 10-2 San Francisco takes on 7-4 San Diego State. The SF Dons have won three straight and six of their last seven games including wins over Utah (as 11.5 point dog) and Illinois State (as 6.5 pt dog). This will be the final contest for San Francisco before they start West Coast Conference play on the 29th. Meanwhile, San Diego State isn't quite as good as previous editions of this team. The Aztecs have won three straight games after losing three. Most shockingly, was the Aztecs loss to Grand Canyon State, 76-72 and Chicago Illinois, 65-59. Long time Head Coach Steve Fisher has only won a single tournament in his career and that was the Rainbow Classic back in 1992 with Michigan. I think this five point line is too high for the Aztecs, which have struggled this year against far inferior teams. I'm taking the points with San Francisco here.

The Spurs are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games. Even with the Bulls boasting Dwayne Wade on this year's club, Chicago will not fair well against the West's best teams. Take San Antonio.

Detroit has covered five of its last seven road games. In addition, the Pistons have covered seven of the last eight meetings in Chicago. Not sure how the Bulls can be favored over anyone right now. I'm taking the points here with Detroit.

Both clubs have shown a propensity to underachieve this season. However, taking the dog here means we don't have to win, just cover. Play College of Charleston.

Eastern Michigan saw its four game win streak snapped last time out at Vermont, 82-74. EMU had won six of seven before the loss. In addition, the club is 3-1 ATS in their four posted line games and 4-1 in their last five away games. Syracuse started the season 4-0, but has lost four of their last six games. The Orangemen are also just 1-4 ATS on the season. Eastern Michigan can put up points, as the club has over 90 three times this season and over 70 seven times. With Syracuse laying double digits here, I don't see the Orange being able to score enough against a decent EMU squad. Take the points with Eastern Michigan.

12/12 04:35 PM NBA (505) WASHINGTON WIZARDS VS (506) MIAMI HEAT. Take: (505) WASHINGTON WIZARDS Reason: The Miami Heat look to snap a five game losing streak tonight against the Washington Wizards. The Heat have struggled offensively this season, following the loss of point guard Dwayne Wade to the Chicago Bulls. Miami is ranked 28th in the NBA in scoring (96.8 ppg) and 26th in assists. Meanwhile, Washington looks for its third win in a row tonight. The excellent backcourt of John Wall (23.6 ppg) and Bradley Beal (21.5 ppg) lead the club. Home court really hasn't helped a struggling Miami club that is also battling the injury bug. Too much talent and bench on the Washington squad to not win these kind of games. Take Washington.

The Orange are 5-2 S/U and 1-2 ATS to start the season. Syracuse plays a tough zone defense that has held opponents to just 35.4% from the field this year and 25% from the 3-point arc. The Orangemen have a lot of depth on this club and should easily handle the struggling Huskies here tonight. Play Syracuse.
