Reason: These are two of the Top 5 defensive in the league in field goal shooting, including the top two in the West. Oklahoma City is 4-0 under the total on the road and 7-2 under in their last nine Conference Finals games. Expect a dominant defensive effort by the battered and bruised Warriors. The Under is 19-7-1 in the Warriors last 27 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. And the Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Golden State. Play UNDER the total.

The guard play is back playing well and confident. The Raptors are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600. Cleveland has lost a little confidence and one has to start wondering about coaching, as the Cavs have a rookie head coach who was hired in midseason. This shapes up as another close one and the underdog is 18-6 ATS in the last 24 meetings. Play Toronto.

Oklahoma City has a size advantage up front that Billy Donovan has been going to, and it worked in Game 1, with a big edge in rebounds while stealing home court. 5/23 08:35 PM EST NBA (713) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS VS (714) TORONTO RAPTORS Take: (714) TORONTO RAPTORS Reason: LeBron showed up the last game but his teammates didn't. They play another road game against the No. 2 see in the East and the Cavaliers are 1-8-1 ATS following a straight up loss of more than 10 points. The Raptors posted a 99-84 home victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday, when they limited Cleveland to 35.4 percent shooting from the field. Center Bismack Biyombo was busy setting a franchise playoff record with 26 rebounds. Toronto is 14-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600, plus the Raptors are 8-1 ATS at home vs. a team with a winning road record. 5/23 08:35 PM NBA (713) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS VS (714) TORONTO RAPTORS Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. The Cleveland Cavaliers had their eight game win streak in the playoffs snapped in game three at Toronto. The Raptors can even this series at two games a piece with a win tonight. Cleveland will have to find a way to deal with the Raptors big guy, Bismack Biyombo, who grabbed 26 rebounds all by himself in game three. The Raptors dominated the boards and at the free throw line and exposed a weakness in the Cavs. This means we may see more of Cavs big man Timofey Mozgoz here in game four. This leads me to look for another game to go under. Despite scoring 60 points in the first half of game three, the Raptors still didn't make 100 points. And, for the first time in the series, the Cavs were outscored in the paint, 36-20. That means the Cavs have now held nine of their 11 playoff games. LeBron James is showing some of age and must rely more on his supporting cast. This has led to the Cavs being a very good defensive club. One person who has stepped-up his defense is Kevin Love. In the past, Love and defense usually were never used in the same sentence. However, while Love will never make Defensive player of the Year, he has been make subtle changes that can be seen in the playoffs. Love and Kyrie Irving had horrible games in game three and gave almost not support to James. A lot of that can be attributed to the Raptors change in game plan. I like what I see defensively and because of that, I'm going UNDER here in game four.

The Cavs have not shot the ball well from behind the arc against the Toronto Raptors, shooting 35 and 33 percent respectively in games one and two. Yet, they have scored 108 and 115 points in the two games, dominating inside against a Toronto team lacking frontcourt depth. Cleveland is 11-4 over the total in Conference Finals games, as well as 7-3 over the total on the road against a team with a winning home record. Toronto is better offensively than they've shown and coming home for Game 3 will help. Cleveland is 9-0 in the playoffs and its latest superb performance was a 115-84 trouncing of Toronto in Game 1. They have been great from three-point land all this postseason. The Raptors were dominated on the boards 45-23 without center Jonas Valanciunas (ankle), who is likely to miss Game 2, and were powerless to defend Cleveland star LeBron James, who scored 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting Toronto is much better offensively than they looked in game 1 and will bounce back. But can they stop the Cavs and all those offensive options, inside or out? The Over is 24-5 in the Raptors last 29 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points. Reason: The Cleveland Cavaliers are the only team in the post season that has cruised through every game. The Cavs are a perfect 8-0 and well rested for their Conference finals. On the other end, the Raptors have had to go a full seven games against Indiana and Miami to make it here. Cleveland has had eight days off to prepare and rest for tonight's contest. The Cavs haven't had to totally rely on Lebron James this time, as Kyrie Irving (24.4 ppg) and Kevin Love (18.9 ppg) have both been big contributors. Cleveland has also been red-hot from beyond the 3-point arc, hitting 77 3-points against the Hawks in their four game series. Cleveland has also played great defense in the postseason, holding their opponent to under 100 points in seven of their eight games. The Raptors are just 3-8 ATS their last 11 games, while the Cavs have covered six of their last eight home games. I love this spot for the Cavaliers, well rested players who are hitting on all cylinders. Toronto is over-matched in this contest. Play Cleveland.

Portland looks to even their series with the Golden State Warriors at 2-2 here tonight. The Warriors had anticipated the return of Stephen Curry tonight. However, now that doesn't look to the case, as Curry was downgraded to doubtful tonight. The Warriors usually stellar defense was non-existent in game three, allowing 120 points to the Blazers. Warriors power forward Draymond Green pulled few punches about his team's chances in game four. The All-Star forward has called their opponent "out of its depth" and without "self-belief" and went as far as to predict a win tonight. The Warriors will have to do better defending the perimeter, after allowing the Blazers 17-three point shots. If anything really became apparent, it was that this Warriors club need Curry back in the lineup. With that not happening tonight, I'll take the home team here again as I did in game three. Take Portland.

Game four here from Miami with the Raptors leading the series, 2-1. Miami blew a big opportunity to go up 2-0 after losing their OT game in game two. The Raptors then took game three of the series, 95-91. The Heat are in a must win spot here as the series will return to Canada for game five on Wednesday. If the Heat win tonight, then this series becomes a best of three. As for the Raptors, somehow they have made it thus far. They were outscored in the Indiana series and in the post season they are being outscored 93-94 over the 10 games. In addition, they are hitting just 28.6% from beyond the 3-point arc. The Raptors will also be without their center, Jonas Valanciunas, who will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a sprained knee. Not only will the big center be missed in the paint, but his presence as a thorn in the side of the Heat will also be gone. Miami has been tough at home, covering nine of the last 11. Heat have a big advantage in their starting five and experience and now how to win big games. Take the Heat here in game four.

Reason: NBA 2nd Round Game of the Year: The Miami Heat relied heavily on their veteran players to take game seven from the Bobcats on Sunday, 106-73. Meanwhile, the Raptors advanced from the first round for the first time since 2001. The Heat dominated the Bobcats in games 1,2 and 7, but played sloppy in 3,4,5 and 6. The Raptors really shouldn't have advanced to round two. The Pacers outscored them overall in the seven game series. The Raptors led by 16 in the fourth quarter of game seven and almost lost as the Pacers could have tied the game with 30 seconds to play. The Raptors two big scores (Lowry and DeRozan) averaged almost 13 points less than during the regular season. These teams have met four times this year, but none of those games really featured the same personnel we'll see here today. Quick turn around here tonight and I think the Heat can win this one outright. Take the Heat as your 2nd Round NBA Game of the year.

Big game 7 here today between the Pacers and Raptors. The Raptors finished the season with the No 2 spot in the East and were expected to roll past this Indiana squad. However, the playoffs have never been kind to Toronto and now all the pressure will be on the Raptors. Toronto has not survived a first round match since 2001 and that is when it was best of five. The Pacers have also been dominating the boards. After losing the rebound battle the first three games, the Pacers inserted Myles Turner into the starting lineup and the 6-foot-11 rookie has shut down Toronto's big man in Jonas Valanciunas. With all the pressure on the Raptors here and the Pacers winning the boards the last three games, I'll take the points with Indiana.

So far so good for the Warriors without the best player in the league, Stephen Curry. The Warriors had little problems with Houston after Curry went down. Even without Curry, the Warriors outscored Houston by 60 points with their star on the bench. Curry could even return in this series, possibly as early as game two. Portland got new life in their series with the Clippers when LA lost both its top two players, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. The Blazers only had one day off to prepare for the Warriors, which won't be good for rest. This should be a fast paced series, as the winning team this year has scored at least 128 points. With the short turnaround here for the Blazers I look for them to come out flat in game one. Take Golden State.

Charlotte is 32-11 straight up at home and on a 5-2 spread run. Forward Marvin Williams led the Hornets in scoring with 17 points, making 7 of 10 shots from the field. The Hornets got back small forward Batum after he missed the previous two playoff games with injuries to his left foot and ankle. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. Play Charlotte.

04/29 7:00 PM EST NBA (711) TORONTO RAPTORS VS (712) INDIANA PACERS. Take: (712) INDIANA PACERS. Reason: indiana was a big dog the last game and played well, until letting a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter slip away of a 102-99 loss at Toronto Tuesday. The players scored nine points in the fourth quarter, a record low for the franchise in a playoff game. Indiana is on a 6-2 spread run with Paul George playing outstanding and is a great defensive team, No. 8 in the NBA during the regular season in points allowed. A pivotal Game 5, which means both coaches will demand great defense. Portland is on a 6-0 run under the total and faces an outstanding Clippers' defense, one ranked No. 7 during the regular season in points allowed, NO. 2 in field goal shooting defense (.434%). LA is without star guard and playmaker Chris Paul, a huge blow to the offense. The L.A. Clippers are on a 4-0 run under the total, 20-6 under at home. So far each team has held home court as this series is now tied, 2-2. The Celtics have to play without one of their best players in Avery Bradley, who is out indefinitely. These are two of the best defensive teams in the NBA, with Atlanta ranked No. 6 in points allowed, No. 1 in field goal shooting defense (.432%), No. 5 at defending the three-pointer. Atlanta is 13-6 under the total playing on one day of rest, 7-3 under after a defeat and 12-4 under in Conference Quarterfinals games. 04/26 06:05 PM EST NBA (569) INDIANA PACERS VS (570) TORONTO RAPTORS. Take: UNDER THE TOTAL. Reason: This best of seven series returns to Toronto tonight tied 2-2. So far this has been a dead UNDER series, with all four games falling below the posted total. Moreover, these teams have now met eight times on the season, with six going UNDER. The Pacers have done a great job containing the two star guards for Toronto, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. Lowry is averaging just 15.5 ppg on 32.2% shooting. Derozan is averaging just 13.3 ppg on 29.6% shooting. I expect another excellent defensive game here tonight. Play UNDER the Total.

Clippers have been a great under team of late, posting a 4-11-1 O/U/P mark the last 16 games. Thus far in their series with the Blazers, the first game ended on a push, but the next two went way under, by 28 and 24 points. The oddsmaker has adjusted the total down from 211 to 208 to today's 205. The Blazers have also been a very good under team, with a 3-10-1 mark their last 14 games. I don't see any change here here. We can still get under a decent line because the oddsmaker doesn't want to adjust it too fast. Play UNDER here on Monday.

Each club has held their home court advantage, with Atlanta taking the first two at home and Boston taking game three at the TD Garden, 111-103. Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas had a career-high 42 points in game three. This game has been very physical and looks to be that again here in game four. Game three saw two technical fouls and three flagrant fouls. The Celtics best move though was inserting Jonas Jerbko into the starting lineup. Jerebko had 11 points and 12 rebounds, but more importantly, was instrumental in helping Thomas to get open shots. The Hawks road woes continue, having now gone 0-5 ATS in their last five away games. This series has been a home team's game as the host has gone 6-2 ATS the last eight meetings. I like Boston to even the series here today. Take the Celtics.

4/23 07:35 PM NBA (551) LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS VS (552) PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS Take: (552) PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS Reason: Portland is in a must win position here as they return home to the Moda Center for game three. The Blazers are down 0-2 to the Clippers, losing the first two games by a combined 41 points. The good news is, the Blazers were 28-13 at the Moda Center this season. Furthermore, really there were no expectations of any real success this year by the Blazers, who are in a rebuilding season. The pressure really is off the club and on a team that is expected to win, like the Clippers. For the Blazers to be successful tonight, they need to push the ball out on the breaks. That is what has worked for them thus far, though just not enough of it. Portland will play tough tonight and if they are going to win a game, this is the one. The Blazers are 10-4 ATS playing on two days rest, plus 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points. Play Portland. Take the Blazers.

It also worked the last game, winning 85-84 at OKC as a double digit dog. Dallas is a veteran team with plenty of balance behind 7-0 foot Dirk Nowitzki (18.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg), 6-11 Zaza Pachulia (8.6 ppg, 9.4 rpg), Deron Williams (14 ppg), Wesley Matthews (12.5 ppg), J.J. The Hornets are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Conference Quarterfinals games. Miami's clear advantage entering the series was experience, and Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Joe Johnson all have plenty of experience in the postseason. Deng looked comfortable with a season-high 31 points on 11-of-13 shooting in Game 1 to lead a 57.6 percent shooting effort from the Heat. NBA 1st Round TV Game of the Year
Reason: The Boston Celtics came up a bit short in game one of this series, losing to Atlanta 102-101. The Celtics are a very young team and tough to play against. The Celtics have relied on a very good defense this season, but lately it's been a bit on and off. They need to get their defense back online. Against the Hawks, they will need a very good perimeter defense if they hope to win. What I like most about the Celtics is how unselfish they are. With Avery Bradley likely is out with a hamstring issue. However, with the way this club relies on all their players, Marcus Smart is ready to move in the role vacated by Bradley. If the Celtics defense returns to it's old ways, I believe they have a good shot to win this one outright. Take the Celtics plus the points.

The Mavericks should be good and rested for tonight's contest, considering they didn't even show up for game 1. Before the fans seats were even warm the Mavs were down by fifteen points in the 1st quarter. Dallas scored just 33 points the first half and trailed OKC by 26 points. The second half wasn't much better for Dallas, as the Thunder rolled to a easy win in game one, 108-70. The Mavericks lack of offense and season long injury list that looked like a MASH unit, came to light in game 1. The Mavs know they can't get into a scoring match with the Thunder. HC Rick Carlisle has changed this club recently to a slow pace team that is focused on defense. The Mavs are still a good road covering club, going 8-3 ATS away their last 11 games. The Mavericks have also had good success in OKC, going 12-5 ATS their last 17 trips there. The Mavs got that poor play out of their system in game one. I look for them to bounce back here and at least be competitive. Play the Mavericks.

4/13 05:05 PM NBA (703) SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS (704) DALLAS MAVERICKS. Take: (704) DALLAS MAVERICKS Reason: The Spurs are on a 5-16 ATS run and don't care about this one at all. The red-hot Dallas Mavericks have clinched a playoff spot and will try to improve their seeding Wednesday when they host the San Antonio Spurs. Dallas has won seven of its last eight games and might avoid a first-round series with San Antonio if it can beat the Spurs in the season finale. The Mavericks are on a 5-1 ATS run and will roll. 4/13 05:05 PM NBA (703) SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS (704) DALLAS MAVERICKS Take: UNDER Reason: The Spurs will rest several key players on Wednesday vs. the Mavericks, including Kawhi Leonard. The Spurs needed overtime to win vs. the Thunder on Tuesday, but this was the plan all along. In addition to Leonard, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, LaMarcus Aldridge and possibly a couple others will be rested as well. Leonard scored 26 points with five rebounds, five assists, two steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer on Tuesday, and he will finish the season as the third best player in standard leagues behind Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. San Antonio is on a 17-8 run under the total and 24-10-1 under after a spread loss. Dallas has slowed the pace down the last month, playing great defense to get into the playoffs. The Under is 8-1 in the Mavericks last 9 games following a straight up win. And the Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings. Play the Spurs/Mavericks Under the total.

Both these clubs still have something on the line, mainly just playoff position. The Heat currently are in 4th place, 1/2 game back of Atlanta and one game ahead of both Boston and Charlotte. That means the Heat can finish anywhere from third to sixth. A final regular season game at Boston could be the difference between home court and playing on the road in the 1st round. The Heat also could win the Southeast division, as they trail Atlanta by 1/2 game. The Pistons have locked up that final spot, but can move up one spot and avoid a first round meeting with the Cavaliers. Detroit is tied with the Pacers. Detroit finishes at Cleveland and the Cavs will have nothing to play for, though Cleveland could decide which club they would rather meet in round one. Tough game here, but with the Division crown at state I like Miami in this spot plus the points. Take Miami.

The Houston Rockets have an outside shot to make the playoffs. With just two games left for the club, they sit one game back of Utah for the last playoff spot in the West. Houston showed they still have the drive, beating the Lakers on Sunday, 130-110. Now they hit the road for a game today at Minnesota and then return home to face the Kings. The Rockets have a realistic chance of winning the last two games. Utah also played on Sunday and while they struggled at times with the Nuggets, they easily pulled away, 100-84. That leaves tonight's contest at home against Dallas and then at the Clippers. Dallas still has something to play for while the Clippers do not. I like the Rockets here as they still think they have a chance at the playoffs.

Washington missed out on the playoffs, as the Wizards now sit back four games with just two to go. The Wizards beat Charlotte on Sunday, 113-98. Despite coming to the last few games, the Wizards are scoring points quite well. Washington has gone over in three straight games and is 7-3 O/U their last 10 games. The Nets look like they are the less interested team at this point. The nets have lost seven straight games and are 0-6-1 ATS their last seven. The Nets also give up a lot of points, with opponents scoring 110 or more in five of the last eight games. San Antonio wanted to play well in that game, but struggled everywhere. now they are home where the Spurs play their best defense, No. 1 in the NBA in points allowed. San Antonio is 12-5 under the total against the Western Conference. Golden State plays great defense, too, No. 3 in field goal shooting defense, plus No. 2 in three-point defense. 04/08 09:05 PM EST NBA (519) LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS VS (520) UTAH JAZZ. Take: 10-Star NBA Total Annihilator: LA Clippers/Utah Under the total. Utah is a defensive-first team and there's no need for the short-handed LA Clippers to go uptempo. Head coach Doc Rivers said Blake Griffin will definitely get the night off against the Jazz, and he had planned on treating the Utah game like he did the last game in Oklahoma City -- when Paul, Jordan and Redick all rested. Austin Rivers (ankle) and Wesley Johnson (foot) didn't play Wednesday, and Jamal Crawford got the night off for rest. The Grizzlies forced the Bulls out of their offense, stymied Chicago's leading scorer and captured a 108-92 victory on Tuesday night. Zach Randolph led the Grizzlies with 27 points and 10 rebounds. The Grizzlies caused 20 Chicago turnovers, leading to 38 Memphis points. Tony Allen, who guarded Jimmy Butler much of the night, had four of Memphis' 13 steals in the game. The Grizzlies are 18-6 ATS after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game. They face a Dallas team that has slowed the pace down to play tough defense, off an 88-86 win over Houston. 4/07 07:35 PM NBA (709) SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS (710) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. Take: (710) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. Reason: The Golden State Warriors are home and in a bounce back spot after an embarrassing collapse against Minnesota. Rival San Antonio is in town with very little chance of overtaking Golden State for the No. 1 seed in the West. San Antonio scratched its way past Utah 88-86 to earn a fourth straight win on Tuesday and may have all of its starters available on Thursday, but Greeg Popovich limits his starters and veteran players. The Spurs are 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up win. The assumption has been that San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich would rest starters in the two remaining games against the Warriors, but point guard Tony Parker refuted that notion in a postgame TV interview on Tuesday. "I think we'll play," Parker said in the interview. He didn't say, "We will all play," because Popovich makes the final call and it's hard to see him asking his players to go all out and risk injury in a game that isn't that meaningful for them. Popovich also doesn't want to show how he plans to defend Steph Curry in the playoffs, either. The teams have split two meetings this season, with Golden State blasting San Antonio 120-90 at home on Jan. 25 and the Warriors are 20-9 ATS in their last 29 games following a ATS loss. A pair of strong defensive teams meet and both have plenty to play for. Chicago winds up a stretch playing 7 of 9 on the road and will lean on its defense, No. 7 in the NBA in field goal shooting. Chicago is 6-0-1 under the total on the road and a 9-1-1 run under overall. The Under is also 13-3-1 in Bulls last 17 games playing on one days rest. Miami is better on defense, No. 9 in field goal shooting allowed, plus No. 4 in points allowed. Chicago needs a win on the playoff bubble, while Miami is tied with Boston for the all important No. 4 seed. And the Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. Play Chicago/Miami Under the total.
04/07 08:00 PM EST NBA (705) CHICAGO BULLS VS (706) MIAMI HEAT. Take: (705) CHICAGO BULLS. Reason: Chicago has plenty of talent with Pau Gasol, Jimmy Butler and Mirotic, winding up a tough road stretch. But they have plenty to play for, trailing Indiana and Boston for the No. 7 and 8 playoff seeds. The Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss. They handled the Charlotte Hornets 96-90, the last game, with another great defensive performance. By beating the historically pesky Hornets, Toronto has now won the season series with each of the other seven Eastern Conference teams currently in playoff spots, another first. The Raptors also opened a difficult week of playoff preparation with a performance that was at times dominant, holding Charlotte to less than 35 per cent shooting. The Raptors are 7-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning straight up record. They match up well with an Atlanta squad that is on a 0-4 ATS run, including 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Atlanta has a playoff spot locked-up, it's just which one? The Hawks currently are tied for third with the Celtics, but they just 1/2 game separates them from three other teams (Boston, Miami, Charlotte). The difference here isn't playing Cleveland or Toronto in the first round, it's hosting your first round series. The Hawks have lost two straight, but that will change tonight as Phoenix has little chance of outright winning this contest. The Suns have covered just six of their last 26 road games. The Hawks are 13-6 ATS their last 19 overall and are 7-2 ATS the last nine when their opponent allows 100 points or more. The home team has covered five of the last seven in this series and I look for the Hawks to win this one going away.

North Carolina is the only number one seed that has made it to the Championship game this season. They play the second seeded Villanova Wildcats. North Carolina has won 10 straight games, the last five by double digits. North Carolina had the top ranked offense in the ACC and the seventh ranked defense. Obviously at this juncture you can make a case for either side by the numbers. My own power ratings have Villanova a slight favorite in this one. I'm going to take the points here with Villanova.
