9/11 05:00 PM CF (303) MIAMI FLORIDA VS (304) FLORIDA ATLANTIC Take: (304) FLORIDA ATLANTIC Reason: First road game for Miami, on a 1-6 ATS run on the road. The Hurricanes are 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. Miami sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya won't have two of his top wide receivers Friday -- Stacy Coley (hamstring) and Braxton Berrios (knee). The Hurricanes are 2-7 ATS against Conference USA and face a good Florida Atlantic offense. The Owls are led by multi-threat senior quarterback Jaquez Johnson. The Owls gained 563 before in a 47-44 overtime loss at Tulsa last Saturday in the opener for both. Johnson threw for 263 yards and ran for another 97 in the opener while sophomore Greg Howell had 138 rushing yards with two scores as the Owls ran for 300 yards. Florida Atlantic recovered two fumbles and had two interceptions last week without coughing up the ball once. Florida Atlantic is 18-5 ATS following a loss and 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games overall. Play Florida Atlantic.

9/06 3:00 PM EST CF (207) PURDUE VS (208) MARSHALL Take: (208) MARSHALL. Reason: Purdue had trouble scoring in 2014 and brings back a weak all around team again. The Boilermakers will turn their offense over to junior Austin Appleby, who started seven games last season but marks Purdue's fifth different starting quarterback in as many season openers. The Boilermakers are on a 0-3-1 ATS run and face a fast and talented Marshall. In 2014, Marshall put up an average of 45.6 points but will be replacing record-setting quarterback Rakeem Cato with Michael Birdsong. Birdsong is surrounded by talent at the offensive skill positions, including running back Devon Johnson and senior wide receiver Davonte Allen. Johnson pounded his way to 1,767 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground in 2014 and added a pair of receiving scores as a key component of the offense. Marshall is on a 10-3 ATS run at home and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games. Play Marshall.

09/05 07:00 PM EST CF (191) UL - LAFAYETTE VS (192) KENTUCKY Take: (191) CFB Shocker of the Month: UL Lafayette. UL Lafayette is a fine program off of four straight 9-4 campaigns. They were a dog to Nevada in their last game, a bowl game, and won 16-3. UL Lafayette was No. 1 in the conference in red-zone offense last year and will have a balanced attack this season led by running back Elijah McGuire, the 2014 Sun Belt Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. The Cajuns are loaded at linebacker with Dominique Tovell, Tre'maine Lightfoot and Otha Peters on a unit that was No. 1 in the red zone in 2014. UL Lafayette is on a 6-1-1 ATS run, including 3-0-1 ATS on the road. They face a retooling Kentucky team that has gone 2-10, 2-10 and 5-7 the last three years. Kentucky has a new QB and the Wildcats are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in September. Play UL Lafayette.

9/05 07:00 PM EST CF (183) AKRON VS (184) OKLAHOMA Take: (184) OKLAHOMA. Reason: A tough spot for the Akron defense, opening the season on the road at a Big 12 powerhouse. Akron is on a 1-7 ATS run, 0-4 ATS on the road. Oklahoma has plenty of offensive punch behind running back Samaje Perine. Oklahoma is also unveiling its Air Raid offense with only Sterling Shepard (970 yards) as a proven gamebreaker at receiver, along with Durron Neal and newcomer WR Dede Westbrook. Westbrook caught 76 passes for 1,487 yards and 13 touchdowns in just eight games at Blinn (Texas) Community College last season. The Sooners feel they have the talent and depth to make new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley's system work. The Sooners are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games, 5-0 ATS in September. 9/05 3:30 PM EST CF (177) BYU VS (178) NEBRASKA Take: (177) Inner Circle: Play BYU. Nebraska has a new coach in Mike Riley, changing the offense to a pro-style attack. It is going to take some time for the offensive players to get in sync with the new coaching staff and playbook. The Cornhuskers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf and it won't be easy to score on this BYU defense led by Coach Bronco Mendenhall, in his 11th season. Bronson Kaufusi (15.5 career sacks) returns to the defensive line after spending last season as a linebacker and leads a defense that ranked 14th in FBS in yards per carry allowed (3.28) and 20th in rushing defense (121.8). BYU also allowed 40 rushing plays of 10 or more yards last season, tied with East Carolina and Oklahoma for the second-fewest in the country. BYU has balance on offense and plenty of experience and physical defense to keep this close. Play BYU.

9/04 10:15 PM EST CF (159) WASHINGTON VS (160) BOISE STATE Take: (160) BOISE STATE Reason: Washington opens up on the road with a young team. Washington lost 3 All-Americans from a mediocre team and has a young QB and a younger offensive line against against a talented and deep Boise State defensive front. The offensive line returns just one starter and the top playmaker, QB Cyler Miles, retired from football during the off-season. The Huskies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. All four starters have to be replaced on the defensive line and they face a talented, experienced and fired-up Broncos squad. The Broncos are 19-9 ATS in their last 28 Friday games, 5-1 ATS in September and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games. The defense is loaded and the home team holds all the cards. Michigan State is a Big 10 powerhouse and this game means far more for the home team. Michigan State is also auditioning for its go-to players at running back and wide receiver in the opener after losing the most-productive performers at each position. The Spartans also chart a new course on defense after successful coordinator Pat Narduzzi departed to become head coach at Pittsburgh. That unit should be tested by Western Michigan (10-2 ATS run), who averaged almost 34 points last season and return all the key skilled-position players that led the team to a seven-win improvement, led by running back Jarvion Franklin (1,551 yards, 24 rushing TDs) and quarterback Zach Terrell (26 TD passes). The Buffaloes are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 road games. Colorado has Junior Sefo Liufau, who has thrown 23 picks, and the Buffaloes ranked 102nd in the nation in rushing defense and 116th in scoring defense last season. 9/03 07:00 PM EST CF (137) OKLAHOMA STATE VS (138) CENTRAL MICHIGAN Take: (137) Inner Circle: Oklahoma State. Another mismatch on the Week 1 card finds the talented and fast Oklahoma State Cowboys facing a MAC school. Oklahoma State had a late surge in 2014 after they inserted QB Mason Rudolph into the lineup and provided much of the momentum that has the Cowboys as a stealthy pick to contend in the Big 12. The Cowboys were mired in a four-game losing streak that would stretch to five in Rudolph's first start, which became necessary due to injury. Yet even in that 49-28 loss to Baylor, Rudolph goosed a scuffling Oklahoma State offense with his live arm. Then he led an upset of Bedlam rival Oklahoma, pushing the Cowboys to 6-6 and bowl eligibility. And he was at it again in the Cactus Bowl against Washington, directing another win and driving optimism for a big season ahead. Rudolph will have plenty of playmakers at his disposal, particularly at receiver, where nine of the top 10 pass catchers return, headlined by Brandon Sheperd and James Washington, physical and fast receivers who can dominate defensive backs. The Cowboys are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games. They face a small and overmatched Central Michigan squad that is on an 8-20 ATS run at home, 2-7 ATS in non-conference games, and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games in September. Play Oklahoma State.

02/01 06:30 PM EST NFL (101) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VS (102) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Take: (102) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Reason: I backed the underdog Seahawks a year ago and they flattened Denver, 43-8, with a suffocating defensive performance. I'll back the better defensive team again. Seattle is on a 39-13 SU, 34-16-1 ATS run and finished this season third against the run and No. 1 against the pass anchored by Mike Bennett (11 sacks), Cliff Avril (5 sacks), LB Bobby Wagner (2 sacks), LB Bruce Irvin (6.5). The secondary is dominating with S Earl Thomas and physical corner CB Richard Sherman (8 picks in 2012 and 13 in each year; 4 this season). Seattle is 19-7-1 ATS vs. team with winning record and faces a Patriots team that finished 18th in rushing with a suspect offensive line. That O-line will be tested against the attacking Seattle defense than can stuff the run and get after 37-year old QB Tom Brady. The Pats receivers can be hit at the line of scrimmage, which Seattle does well, and the Patriots are 4-11 ATS in all playoffs as well as 0-4 ATS in their last four Super Bowls. Play Seattle!

01/18 06:40 PM EST NFL (303) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS (304) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Take: (304) NFL Inner Circle: Patriots. A terrible situational and matcyhup spot for Indy. The Colts beat the Bengals two weeks ago, some off a long road trip to Denver in an emotional upset, and now heading to New England. That's three tough opponents in three weeks, two on the road. While the defense is off a brilliant game against Denver, this is still not an elite group, ranked 12th against the pass, 18th against the run and No. 19 in points allowed (23.3 ppg). Their linebackers are weak in pass coverage and they don't have run stuffers to contain the run. That's something New England will attack because they've destroyed this Colts defense with matchups twice in the last year. The Patriots beat the Colts in the playoffs last January, 43-22, and then two months ago, 42-20. New England had 503 yards in November (246 yards rushing) and 419 total yards (234 rushing) last January. The Pats are off a 35-31 win over the Ravens following the bye, so they are playing their second straight home game. The Patriots are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 home games, including 8-1 ATS at home against a team with a winning road record. Play the Patriots.

01/18 3:05 PM EST NFL (301) GREEN BAY PACKERS VS (302) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Take: (302) NFL High Roller Platinum: Seattle Seahawks. Green Bay is 4-4 SU on the road this season and now heads to the most difficult place to play in the NFL. The Packers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and face a powerhouse Seattle defense that is deadly, 3rd against the run, tops against the pass, anchored by Mike Bennett (11 sacks), Cliff Avril (5 sacks), LB Bobby Wagner (2 sacks), LB Bruce Irvin (6.5). The secondary is dominating with S Earl Thomas and physical corner CB Richard Sherman (8 picks in 2012 and 13 in each year; 4 this season). Dallas didn't really come after injured QB Aaron Rodgers the last game, but that won't be the case here. Seattle loves to blitz and has the athletes to do get after Rodgers (and the backup is Matt Flynn). Green Bay's run defense is suspect and RB Marshawn Lynch (1,306 yards, 4.7 ypc) is a workhorse while QB Russell Wilson (20 TDs, 7INTs, 3,475 yards) ran for 849, second on the team (7.2 ypc). Seattle is 37-16-2 ATS at home and 19-6-1 ATS vs. team with winning record. These teams meet here on September 4 and Seattle won 36-16 at home. Seattle had the edge in yards 398-255, including a rushing edge of 207-80. Rodgers looked almost exclusively for Jordy Nelson matched up against Byron Maxwell and never threw in Richard Sherman's direction. They sacked Rodgers three times and when these teams meet the home team is 4-1-2 ATS the last seven meetings. Play Seattle!

01/12 08:30 PM EST CF (277) OHIO STATE VS (278) OREGON Take: (277) OHIO STATE. Reason: Urban Meyer took over an Ohio State program after the 2011 season when they went 6-7. Since then the Buckeyes have gone 37-3 overall (25-1 in Big Ten play). He's been forced to use his third-string QB for this game, and for the season Ohio State QBs have combined for 41 TDs, 11 picks! This guy can coach, recruit, and bring in assistant coaches who are outstanding. The Buckeyes are 9-2-1 ATS vs. Pac-12, 4-1 ATS in non-conference games. The last two games they beat No. 13 Wisconsin (59-0) and No. 1 Alabama (42-35). Oregon is a big favorite, but what about this defense? They were a 24-point favorite at home against Arizona and lost 31-24 allowing 495 yards (208 rushing) and the offense turned it over twice. They face a talented Big 10 team already this season and won and covered against Michigan State, but the final score is a little misleading. Michigan State led 27-18 in the fourth and was in control of the game, but 100 degree temperatures and a long road trip may have contributed to a late 46-27 meltdown. That's the same MSU team Ohio State just crushed, 59-0. Play Ohio State!

01/11 04:40 PM EST NFL (119) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS (120) DENVER BRONCOS Take: (120) NFL Playoff Game of the Year: Denver Broncos. Denver is 8-0 at home and rested. They are used to playing outdoors, even in January, but that's not the case with the Colts, who play at home in a dome. The Colts had to play last weekend, a winning at home over the Bengals, and now head out on the road to the thin Denver mountain air. While the Colts defense did improve this season from an awful unit a year ago, they are still not that good, with weak linebackers in pass coverage, plus ranked 18th against the run. The Colts are 1-4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 playoff road games. They have no ground attack so it's all on the arm of QB Andrew Luck, still a young QB who is turnover prone. All of that will be a problem against a rested, veteran Denver team that is better on defense than a year ago. Denver can rush the passer and the secondary has been upgraded with Aqib Talib. QB Peyton Manning runs the No. 4 ranked passing offense in the league and they've won 3 of their last 5 home games by more than double digits. The Broncos beat the Colts here already this season by 7 points, but they led 24-0 and led 31-10 in the fourth. The Broncos are 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games on grass and will roll. Carolina is a run-first team, 19th in the NHL in passing, but they face a dominant Seattle defense, one that can stuff the run ranked third against the run, tops against the pass. The Panthers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Seattle has the best home field edge in the NFL with the crowd close to the field and the Seahawks are 36-16-2 ATS in their last 54 home games. The Lions defense is 13th against the pass (231), tops against the run (69.3) and gets Ndamukong Suh back. They allow 17.6 ppg. Dallas is not an explosive offensive team, preferring to establish the run. And the Dallas defense is a weak spot, 26th in the NFL against the pass (252), which Detroit can attack with Matt Stafford, WR Golden Tate (1331 yds) and WR Calvin Johnson (1071 yds). Reason: You need balance on offense and a tough defense if you want to give the red-hot Steelers are a Ravens are. Baltimore is fourth against the run on defense with a pair of outstanding pass rushers in Terrell Suggs (12 sacks), Elvis Dummervil (17 sacks). The offense is 13th in passing (238.7 yards pg), 8th in rushing (126 pg) behind 29-year QB Joe Flacco (27 TDs, 12 INTs, 19 sacks), RB Juistin Forsett (1,266 yds, 5.4 ypc) and targets WRs Steve Smith (1065 yards), WR Torrey Smith (767) and TE Owen Daniels (527). The Ravens are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 playoff road games, 12-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh has a suspect secondary (27th against the pass) allowing 253 yards per game and the offense has an injury to star RB Le'Veon Bell (1361, 4.7 ypc), a huge piece of this offense. A long road trip for stumbling Arizona heading to red-hot Carolina. The Carolina defense has been great these last four games, even winning on the road at the Saints (allowing 10 points) and Atlanta (allowing 3 points). This is a tough situation and matchup for Arizona, a team that can't run the football (31st) and is down to 3rd string backup QB Ryan Lindley (2 TDs, 4 INTs), who is only in because fourth-stringer rookie Logan Thomas can't play. For a team that can only pass the football, they're done (Arizona has also lot 4 of the last 6 games). Here are the points Arizona has scored the last six games: 3, 18, 17, 12, 6 and 17. It's amazing they won two! Carolina improved to 15-3 in December games under fourth-year coach Ron Rivera after routing Atlanta, and will enter the postseason as one of the league's hottest teams. The Panthers defense turned in the biggest plays, sacking Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan six times and getting interception returns for touchdowns from both starting safeties. Play Carolina!

01/02 12:00 PM CF EST (265) PITTSBURGH VS (266) HOUSTON Take: (265) Inner Circle: Pitt. Houston squeezed into a bowl but what a let-down of a season. After having an explosive offense in 2013 and all their top players back, the Cougars offense has been poor, with 3 QBs combining for 15 TDs and 15 picks. Houston (7-5) fired coach Tony Levine on Dec. 8. They are just 2-2 the last four games with the defense allowing 31, 28 and 38 points in three of them. Defensive coordinator David Gibbs has been named interim coach for this bowl. The Cougars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 bowl games and face a Pitt team that worked hard to get this bowl, winning the last two games over Syracuse (30-7) and at Miami (35-23), the latter as a +10 dog. Pitt is one of the best rushing teams in the nation with 251 yards per game (15th). Pitt has one of the youngest rosters in the country with 80 freshmen and sophomores includes running back James Conner, who was named the ACC player of the year after piling up 1,675 yards to finish fifth in the country and a school-record 24 touchdowns to finish in a tie for third. Sophomore Tyler Boyd posted his second straight 1,000-yard receiving season with 1,149 to rank second in the conference. 01/01 05:30 PM CF (263) OHIO STATE VS (264) ALABAMA Take: (264) ALABAMA Reason: TV Showdown Game of the Month: Alabama. The third-string QB played well in his one start against Wisconsin has Ohio State pulled off a stunner, a 59-0 rout as a dog. Can they do something similar against an SEC team? No. This Ohio State defense has struggled against the run in 4 of its final 5 games. And in 4 of the final 5 games the defense allowed 37, 24, 27 and 28 points. Now they face a balanced, talented and attacking Alabama offense under first-year OC Lane Kiffin. Bama averages 37 points with 281 yards passing (22nd in the nation) and 209.5 yards rushing per contest, while the defense allows 16.6 ppg (4th). The Crimson Tide is 4-0 ATS against the Big Ten and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 neutral site games, plus 4-1 ATS in bowls. That Bama defense gets to face sophomore QB Cardale Jones, who has so little experience against anybody, let alone the No. 1 team in the nation. The Vegas line says more about this team: 2-6 against the spread versus a team with a winning record, plus 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. Florida State lost so much top talent to the NFL that a 2014 drop-off should have been expected and they're not nearly as good as last season. Florida State ranks 104th in the nation in rushing and the defense has struggled, giving up 35 points to Georgia Tech, 27 to Notre Dame, 31 to Louisville and 41 to NC State. And QB Jameis Winston hasn't been that impressive with 24 TDs, 17 picks and a LOT of forced throws into double and triple coverage. Oregon is a bad maatchup for anybody, 11th in the nation in passing (308.9 yds pg), 22nd in rushing (237 yds pg) and third in the nation in scoring (46.3 ppg). QB Marcus Mariota (38 TDs, 2 picks) is a force and Florida State ranks just 107th in the country with 17 sacks this season. 12/31 04:00 PM EST CF (251) BOISE STATE VS (252) ARIZONA Take: (251) BOISE STATE. Reason: Arizona was hoping for a Pac 12 title but got destroyed its last game, losing 51-13 to Oregon in the Pac 12 championship. The Wildcats are 6-14 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. This is not a strong defense allowing 27.5 ppg and they face a Boise State team that does everything well. Boise averages 39.8 points, 278 yards passing and 217.8 yards rushing! This is Boise State's third trip to the Fiesta Bowl in the last nine seasons and its 13th consecutive bowl berth overall - the postseason debut under first-year head coach Bryan Harsin. The previous two visits netted historic wins over Oklahoma and TCU, capping two undefeated seasons. Boise State was strong against the run this fall, holding opponents to less than 100 yards on the ground seven times. Over the last three games, the Broncos allowed 259 yards on 109 carries for just 2.4 yards per carry. Arizona has a freshman QB and their suspect run defense is a cause for concern in this game. The Wildcats are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games on grass and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games. Play Boise State!

12/30 10:00 PM EST CF (247) MARYLAND VS (248) STANFORD Take: (248) CFB Bowl Blowout Game of the Year: Stanford. Maryland made a bowl despite one of the worst offenses in the nation, 73rd in passing the football and 103rd in rushing! Even the defense is sub-par allowing 28.9 ppg (84th in the country). They played a soft schedule and in two step-up games lost badly to Ohio State (52-24) and Michigan State (37-15). The Terrapins are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. They face a dominant Stanford defense, one ranked No. 2 in points allowed. Stanford knocked off No. 9 UCLA 31-10 in their regular-season finale Nov. 28. They easily won their six games against non-ranked teams by an average of 24.8 points, including a one-sided 38-17 victory at archrival California the previous week. The Cardinal racked up 854 yards of offense in their last two games behind an efficient Kevin Hogan, who completed 31 of 39 attempts for 448 yards. The Cardinal is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 bowl games and 5-0 ATS in December. Play Stanford!

12/30 12:00 PM EST CF (243) NOTRE DAME VS (244) LSU Take: (244) High Roller CFB Systems Release: LSU. Notre Dame stepped up for the national title against the SEC two years ago....and as a 10-point dog got flattened by Alabama. Now they face an equally dominant LSU defense in Nashville, Tennessee. Notre Dame (7-5) isn't as good as that unbeaten 2012 team (unbeaten at least until the bowls). Its 6-0 start was undone by a controversial 31-27 loss at Florida State on Oct. 18, which triggered a 1-5 swoon in which its defense was exposed at levels never before seen in the Catholic school's storied history. The Fighting Irish is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 bowl games. LSU led the country in defensive passing efficiency at 98.7, highlighting a unit that ranked fourth in passing yards allowed (162.3 ypg) and eighth in total yards (305.8). They also have a power ground attack and the Tigers are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, plus 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games. Play LSU!

Texas A&M comes into this game running a cold streak for bettors, just 1-7 ATS their last eight overall and 2-11 ATS their last 13 on a neutral field. The Aggies defense isn't the best, ranked 80th in the nation and against the rush, 156th as they allow 224.3 yards per game. In fact, the last three opponents of A&M have rushed for 363, 335 and 384 yards. West Virginia should be able to control the ball on the ground here with the 56th ranked rushing team (187.5 yards per game). The Mountaineers have rushed for 195 or more yards in four of their last five games. Defensively the club is sold, 69th overall in scoring. Basically just need a win here out of West Virginia and we should get the money. A&M just hasn't been good to bettors and I don't see that changing here on Monday. Take West Virginia.

12/28 05:30 PM NFL (305) CINCINNATI BENGALS VS (306) PITTSBURGH STEELERS Take: (306) PITTSBURGH STEELERS Reason: NFL Showdown TV Steamroller: Steelers. Denver did more to give it away the game against the Bengals last week with 4 picks by Peyton Manning. For the game the Bengals had turnovers of their own and were just 2-of-11 on third down. Now erratic QB Andy Dalton has to go on the road in a hostile environment and the Bengals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game. The Steelers rank 2nd in the NFL in passing (300 yards pg), 13th in rushing (115 pg). The Steelers defense had 6 sacks last Sunday against KC, all with 4 or fewer rushers. The Steelers are 7-0 ATS vs. a winning team, 4-1 ATS at home. On December 7 they met and the Steelers won at the Bengals, 42-21, as Pittsburgh rolled up 543 yards, including the a rushing edge 193-86. Roethlisberger threw three touchdown passes, including a 94-yarder to rookie Martavis Bryant. The Steelers ran for 193 yards and piled up 543 overall - 229 of them in the fourth quarter. Roethlisberger was 5-of-7 for 147 yards and 2 TD on play-action passes and finished with 350 yards, 3 TD and 0 INTs at Cincinnati. The Bengals are 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 meetings and the home team will roll. PLAY THE (306) PITTSBURGH STEELERS.

They face a Packers offense that is 2nd in points scored. This is a weak Detroit offensive line with QB Matt Stafford (19 TDs, 12 INTs) running for his life often along with taking 43 sacks). The Lions are 2-6 ATS against the NFC, 2-6 ATS after a win and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. The Packers (11-4 SU, 8-4 ATS run) offense is 7th in passing (269 yds), 11th in rushing (117.7) and average 30.4 points pg. Green Bay is 7-0 SU, 5-1-1 ATS at home. They won on the road at New Orleans 41-10 as a big dog and are getting no respect here, as the Panthers put up 497 yards of total offense. The Panthers defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-13 to take sole possession of first place in the NFC South last week. The Panthers are 16-7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, plus 24-11-1 ATS in December. Atlanta is off a big win, but the Falcons are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a win of more than 14 points. This is their second straight home game and they come off an impressive 27-24 upset of division rival Philly, a team that need to win. First-year coach Jay Gruden, who has frequently been critical of Griffin, gave a glowing assessment, saying RG III "did an outstanding job of managing the football game." They face another team that needs to win, but this is a rivalry game and the Redskins are always up for Dallas. They even won at Dallas in OT as a big dog back in October, 20-17. The Dallas defense is shaky, like last year, 23rd against the pass giving up 27, 28 and 28 their last three road games. The Cowboys are 8-18 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. 12/27 08:00 PM EST CF (235) NEBRASKA VS (236) USC Take: (236) Jim Feist's Bowl Game of the Year: USC. A tough spot for Nebraska with the coaching staff in turmoil. Nebraska has a one-dimensional offense (all running) and faces a great USC run defense. The Cornhuskers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 0-4 ATS against the Pac-12. Nebraska interim coach Barney Cotton will be in charge in San Diego, while new coach Mike Riley will watch. While Nebraska has change with their coaching staff, USC has first-year coach Steve Sarkisian and programs are always anxious to get a victory for a new coach. The USC Trojans (8-4, 6-3 Pac-12) ended their regular season with a 49-14 win over Notre Dame on Nov. 29. Cody Kessler threw for 372 yards and six touchdowns. Kessler completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 3,505 yards, 36 TDs and four interceptions, finishing with the nation's fourth-highest passer rating at 168.8. USC also has star junior receiver Nelson Agholor (97 catches and 11 scores) and two-time All-America junior defensive end Leonard Williams (71 total tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss). 12/24 05:00 PM CF (219) FRESNO STATE VS (220) RICE Take: (219) FRESNO STATE Reason: Bowl Situational Game of the Year: Play Fresno State. A long road trip for both teams playing in Hawaii. It's Xmas eve, so who is going to be focused? Rice is a poor defensive team and the school has never been to this bowl before, so the players will be focused on the beautful Hawaii surroundings. The Owls didn't end the season focused, licking their wounds after enduring a 76-31 thrashing by Louisiana Tech to end the season! Fresno State has played in this bowl before and makes trips here every other year. Fresno State is also an underdog who has played the stronger strength of schedule. Fresno was embarrassed in the postseason a year ago. Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter was considered a hot commodity last season and was widely expected to leave the Bulldogs, but he didn't receive any significant offers and suffered from a poor performance against USC at last year's Las Vegas Bowl. The Bulldogs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and will roll. Play Fresno State!

Sure, they play at home in Maryland, but there is a huge naval base in San Diego and there probably will be more Navy fans in the stands. The Midshipmen are disciplined and fast, 18-5 ATS in their last 23 vs. the Mountain West Conference. 12/23 06:00 PM EST CF (213) NORTHERN ILLINOIS VS (214) MARSHALL Take: (213) Play Northern Illinois. Marshall is getting the oddsmakers attention with their flashy offense, but Northern Illinois has a terrific defense and one of the best rushing attacks in the nation. And you have to wonder is Marshall is even into this bowl: Marshall was unbeaten and in line for the one spot open from the "Group of Five" for a spot in one of the "New Year's Six" bowls. But the 67-66 overtime loss to Western Kentucky in late November ended Marshall's bid for a perfect season and ultimately kept it from being the one team from the "Group of Five". Boise State was picked for that designation after it defeated Fresno State in the Mountain West Championship. Northern Illinois has a terrific defense, yet is a big dog to a high flying Marshall offense. The Huskies led the MAC with 30 sacks and forced 24 turnovers. They also rank 14th in the nation in rushing with over 250 yards per game. The Huskies are 9-1-1 ATS following a win of more than 20 points and 21-8-2 ATS after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Northern Illinois won the MAC championship with a convincing 51-17 triumph against Bowling Green, scoring more than 50 points for the third time this season and holding its opponent to 24 or less for the sixth straight game. 12/21 05:30 PM NFL (129) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS (130) ARIZONA CARDINALS Take: (129) NFL Game of the Year: Seattle Seahawks. A huge showdown game, likely for the NFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Seattle gets up for these showdown games, as we've seen the last four games allowing 3, 3, 14 and 7 points, winning all bu double digits. Like last year, this is one of the deepest, fastest, best defenses the NFL has ever seen. Seattle ranks tops in the NFL in passing, 5th against the rush. Seattle has won 8 of 9 and the team is on a dominating 5-1 ATS run. They take on an Arizona team that is weak on offense ranked 15th in passing, 28th in rushing -- and now they are down to their third-string QB. The offense has scored 17 and 12 points the last two games with QB Ryan Lindley running the offense after losing QBs Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton. Lindley has the worst Total QBR in the league over the last 3 seasons among players with at least 200 action plays. Star WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee) is still not 100%, held to 7 receptions for just 30 yards the last game, a 12-6 win at St. Louis. The Colts really have nothing to play for, clinching the division title already, but they have little chance of getting the No. 1 or 2 seed in the AFC. A problem matchup-wise is the Indy linebackers that are weak in pass coverage and against the run. Dallas can do both with an array of weapons around QB Tony Romo (28 TDs, 8 INTs). Indy ranks 16th at defending the run, 19th against the pass. The Colts are 0-3-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Broncos went 1-11 in 2013, but were on the verge of playing in the MAC title game this season. P.J. Fleck, the youngest FBS coach in the country at 34, led the Broncos turnaround. Western Michigan is on a 10-1 ATS run and the Broncos are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Air Force is all about running but Western Michigan had one of the better run defenses in the MAC. Philadelphia has played two tough teams (Seattle, Dallas) and lost both. But they are still 9-5 with a shot at the playoffs and step down to play the Redskins here. Philadelphia is 7th in the NFL in passing, 9th in rushing. Washington has lost 6 in a row losing by 11, 24, 22, 4 and 20 points the last five. Their only home wins are against Jacksonville and Tennessee, the latter by just 2 points. The other home games they've lost by 10, 20, and 24 points. RG3 was sacked 7 times in Sunday's loss at the Giants. There were moments late in the game when the oft-injured quarterback had trouble getting up. The Redskins (3-11) are finding all sorts of ways to lose, and this one was hard to believe. Colorado State had a great year but also a soft schedule and they lost their coach to Florida. The Utes regularly play in bowl games and keep chalking up the victories under Coach Kyle Whittingham. The Utes average 30.2 points and 374.8 yards per game and quarterback Travis Wilson overcame injuries and consistency issues to throw 17 touchdown passes against just four interceptions. North Dakota State (13-1) keeps on winning, looking for their 4th straight national title. However, they are not steamrolling opponents like in past years because this offense is not as strong as 2013. The last two games have both been squeakers, winning 27-24 and 39-32 as chalk. South Dakota State was tied at the half in the playoff opener, 14-14, and North Dakota State needed a late TD to pull it out. Last week they survived a shootout, squeezing by Coastal Carolina 39-32 allowing 383 yards (186 rushing). Now they are a huge favorite against a Sam Houston State Bearkats team that has won 8 in a row. This is a fast Sam Houston team that is well coached, avoiding mistakes. Mobile quarterback Jared Johnson can spread the ball to key transfers, running backs Jalen Overstreet (Texas) and Donavan Williams (ASA College), and wide receiver LaDarius Brown (TCU). Johnson was 22-27 for 303 yards, 3 TDs and no picks last week in a 34-31 win over Villanova -- and he had the flu! This is an even game all the way, so grab the big dog. Play Sam Houston State!

The Saints were one of the best home teams int he NFL. Well, not this year. The Saints have lost their last four home games and five of the last six. However, once away from the dome, they have played pretty well. They pulled a big upset over a red-hot Steelers club two weeks ago, 35-32. In fact, the Saints have covered their last three away contests. The biggest problem has been the defense, ranked 30th in scoring and 31st in total yards. The offense continues to be good, ranked 9th in scoring and third in total yards. The Bears know something about a bad defense, ranked last in the NFL in scoring (29.1 ppg) and 29th in total yards. The defense has been blistered for 75 points the last two games against Detroit and Dallas. The Bears might almost be at the end of their rope with QB Jay Cutler. He's the highest paid player in the league this season and sure isn't acting like it. The Bears did beat Minnesota last week, 21-13, their first win at Soldier Field since Oct 2013. The win over the Vikings might not be enough for Cutler critics to change their mind, but a win tonight could help a long way toward that goal. Problem is, this Saints team is better offensively than the Bears and while neither team is good on defense, the Saints will take this one as they have been playing quite well on the road. 12/14 05:30 PM NFL (331) DALLAS COWBOYS VS (332) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Take: (331) DALLAS COWBOYS Reason: NFL Situational Game of the Month: Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia is off a game against the physical, hard hitting Seattle defense, getting shut down and smacked silly. The Eagles are 5-14-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, 3-13-1 ATS after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game. The Philly defense is not good, 26th against the pass, 18th against the run. Dallas has great balance on offense and is on a 3-1 run, the only loss was at home to these Eagles, 33-10. That was a bad situational spot for Dallas, off an emotional win at rival New York and then coming home on short rest. Dallas is 6-0 SU, 5-1 ATS on the road. 12/14 1:00 PM EST NFL (311) HOUSTON TEXANS VS (312) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS Take: (312) AFC South Game of the Month: Colts. Let's not get too fired up about Ryan Fitzpatrick winning two in a row. It was against Tennessee and Jacksonville. Now they head out on the road to face the mighty Colts and this Houston defense is still struggling 15th against the run, 28th against the pass. Good luck against Andrew Luck! The Texans are 3-9 ATS following a win, plus 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games following a spread win. Indianapolis is honing in on another division title with the best passing offense in football. The Colts are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games, 16-5 ATS against the AFC South. The home team is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings and the Texans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Indianapolis. Play the Colts!

12/14 1:00 PM EST NFL (309) PITTSBURGH STEELERS VS (310) ATLANTA FALCONS Take: (310) NFL Home Field Crusher: Falcons. Can't trust these wacky Steelers on the road. This defense has been shaky, especially in the secondary, and the Steelers are 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. Pittsburgh whipped the Bengals on the road Sunday, but that followed a terrible game at home, losing to the Saints, 35-32. The Steelers are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games following a win of more than 14 points. Atlanta has a terrific passing attack behind Matt Ryan and plenty of motivation, in line for a division title despite a bad start. The Falcons are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games, plus 37-13-1 ATS after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game. The Steelers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings and this is a great spot for the home team. Play Atlanta!
