Tampa Bay still stuck in last place in the AL East. The Rays recent 2-15 streak hasn't helped either. The Rays hitting has been terrible, ranking 25th or worse in three of the big four batting categories. The pitching hasn't been much better, with a 4.58 ERA (24th) and a 1.36 WHIP (17th). Chris Archer will start for the Rays, with his 4-11 mark and 4.50 ERA. Archer is coming off his best start, allowing no runs over 5.2 innings vs Detroit. However, the Rays couldn't capitalize, losing 5-1. Boston is in third place, just three back of the Orioles. The Sox are the best hitting team in baseball, leading the MLB in Runs, BAA, On Base% and Slugging. Sean O'Sullivan makes just his fifth start of the season. While the 28-year-old is 2-0, he has a high 6.61 ERA. O'Sullivan had a nearly two month layoff before making his start on July 3rd. And it was an encouraging one, allowing just two runs over five innings. The Red Sox starter might be a question here, but the Rays just can't hit and can't win. The All Star break can't come soon enough for Tampa. Take Boston.

NY's Ivan Nova is on the mound with a 5.06 ERA and a lot of problems. Nova has not had a June to remember. This month he has recorded just one quality start and has failed to complete six innings in any of his last three starts. The 29-year-old has allowed at least one home run in each of his last 10 starts, bringing his ERA to an inflated 5.32. He faces a Cleveland offense that is ninth in baseball in runs scored. The Indians are 11-2 vs. a right-handed starter and on a 25-9 run overall. And the Yankees are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings. Play the Cleveland Indians.

Orioles righty Chris Tillman (10-2, 3.71 ERA) suffered the loss at Seattle on Thursday, when he allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. The Orioles are 6-17 in their last 23 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600. The Dodgers are 37-14 at home vs. a team with a losing road record. Nationals lefty Gio Gonzalez (4-7, 4.81 ERA) has had a poor season. He ended a seven-start winless drought last time out, although he still permitted four runs over six innings to beat Cincinnati. Gonzalez lasted only three innings in his prevous outing at Milwaukee and was rocked for six runs to fall to 0-6 during the dry spell. However, they still find themselves in the thick of things in the AL Central, just 2.5 back of the Indians and two back of the Royals. These clubs have split the firsts two games of their four-game series. The Royals took the opener, 104, and the Tigers took yesterday's contest, 10-3. Matt Boyd starts for the Tigers. Boyd has just five appearances this season and four starts. In addition, he's coming off a terrible start, allowing six runs over 4.1 innings to the White Sox. Boyd's ERA has gone up in every appearance thus far. The Royals will counter with veteran Edinson Volquez. Volquez is 6-6 this season with a 3.90 ERA. The 32-year old righthander is coming off his best start of the season, allowing no runs and just two hits over seven innings to the Indians. The Tigers are 0-7 in Boyd's last seven road starts dating back to last season. Meanwhile, the Royals boast a 20-6 record in Volquez's last 26 home starts. Big edge here on the mound to the Royals. The Chicago White Sox have really dropped in the division standings. It wasn't long ago they sat atop the division. Now, the Sox are in fourth place following a 3-7 run. In addition, they have are just 7-20 in thier last 27 games. Chicago's pitching has been horrible, as the staff ranks 21st or worse in baseball in all major categories. The White Sox hoped the addition of today's starter, James Shields, would bolster their starters. However, in his first start, Shields was shelled for seven runs over just two innings by the Nationals. Shields is 2-8 with a 5.06 ERA. Meanwhile, Detroit has moved up in the division standings, winning two straight and seven of 10. Matt Boyd will make only his fourth start of the season today. Boyd is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA. Boyd gave the club 5.1 excellent innings last time out, allowing just one run and three hits to a good hitting Toronto club. The Tigers have won four straight vs the White Sox. Today's starter is Zach Davies. Daies is 4-3 with a 4.29 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Despite losing on Saturday, the Mets are still 6-1 their last eight against the Brewers. Runs will come tough in this contest, but I like Matz a lot here and the Mets to rebound. Take New York.

06/12 10:10 AM MLB (929) OAKLAND ATHLETICS VS (930) CINCINNATI REDS Take: (930) CINCINNATI REDS Reason: The host Cincinnati Reds have collected a couple of low-scoring victories on the strength of their rotation and bullpen, and look to complete a sweep of Oakland on Sunday. The Athletics are stuck with Kendall Graveman (2-6, 5.49 ERA), not throwing well. He is 1-3 with a 7.71 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in six away outings and the Athletics are 19-47 in their last 66 games following a loss. The Reds are 18-6 in their last 24 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Play the Reds.

The Rangers go with righty Colby Lewis (5-0, 3.20 ERA), who has been solid all year. Lewis has won three of his last four starts and didn't allow a run in two of the outings. He is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two 2016 starts against Seattle. Texas is on a 10-3 run and the Rangers are 32-13 in their last 45 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game. The Houston Astros are trying to climb back in the AL West race, but at 29-34 and nine games back of the Rangers - they better hurry. The Astros have lost two straight games, including Friday's loss to the Rays, 4-3. The loss was the club's fourth in their last five games. Mike Fiers will start today. Fiers is one of the starters who has not pitched like he has in recent seasons. Fiers is just 3-3 this season with a 5.00 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. Fiers has been very inconsistent, giving up four runs over 5.1 innings in his last start and then just one run over six innings in the previous game vs Arizona. The problem with Fiers is his lack of velocity. If he isn't on his game, he's going to get hit hard. His BAA of .290 is way too high. In addition, the Astros are 0-5 in Fiers last five road starts. Tampa Bay has also struggled to stay around the .500 mark this season. The Rays have won two straight games and six of the last seven. One-time ace Chris Archer will toe the rubber today with his 4-7 mark and 4.73 ERA. Archer is looking to build on a quality start at Arizona last time out where he allowed just three runs over six innings and struck out 12! Archer has had success vs the Astros, winning four of his last five starts. The Rays have also owned this Astros team, winning 20 of the last 26 meetings. I like Tampa Bay here as my Big Platinum play for Saturday.

The Washington Nationals are trying to hold off the New York Mets in the NL East race. The Nats beat the Phillies on Friday after falling behind 4-0 early. The win was the club's seventh in their last 10 games. Philadelphia has been very competitive this season. They are 29-32 on the season, but just recently fell below the .500 mark. The Phillies pitching has been what's keeping them in games. The staff is rated in the top 11 in MLB in ERA (3.91), Quality Starts (7th), WHIP (1.25) and BAA (8th). Aaron Nola has been a very pleasant surprise for the Phillies. Nola is 5-4 with a stellar 2.65 ERA and excellent 0.99 WHIP. Nola has had nine straight quality starts and has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last five starts and eight of the last nine. Washington will start Tanner Roark. Roark is 4-4 with a 3.21 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. Roark got roughed-up his last start, allowing five runs over three innings to the light hitting Reds. The Phillies are a good sized dog here early on Saturday and I get a pitcher (Nola) who has just been on target. I'll take the value with the Phillies and Nola here.

6/10 07:05 PM EST MLB (915) DETROIT TIGERS VS (916) NEW YORK YANKEES Take: (916) NEW YORK YANKEES. Reason: The NY Yankees have won four straight games and not only climbed out of the AL East cellar, but also are back to playing .500 ball. The Yankees swept the Angels in four games in big part behind Carlos Beltran. Beltran had three homers and 10 runs in their four game sweep. The Yankees will start CC Sabathia, who is 3-4 this season with a 2.58 ERA. Sabathia had control issues in his last start, walking six over five innings, but still did not allow a run. Sabathia has now allowed just three earned runs over his last 31 innings. The Tigers find themselves three back in the AL Central at 30-29. The Tigers offense is above average, but their pitching staff ranks 20th or worse in all the major categories. The Tigers will start veteran righthander Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey has had a rough go of it this year, posting a 1-5 record with a 4.76 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. Pelfrey won his first game of the season last time out vs the White Sox, 7-4. Pelfrey has had control issues this season, walking 23 and striking out just 32. Pelfrey has also allowed 10 home runs and a opponent batting average of .328. The Yankees are 7-2 vs the Tigers in their last nine meetings. In addition, Sabathia is 5-0 in his last five home starts against Detroit. The Yankees are playing much better and Sabathia has pitched much better than Pelfrey. I'm taking the Yankees here on Friday.

Lots of excitement on the diamond between these clubs on Tuesday, and not the baseball type. Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura hit Orioles' Manny Machado with a 99 mph fastball that caused a bench clearing brawl. You can be certain both players will see suspensions for the altercation. However, this might have lit a fire under the Orioles. The next batter after play resumed was Mark Trumbo, who promptly hit a 3-1 pitch from Chien-Ming Wang out of the park. Chris Davis, the very next hitter, sent another out of the park. This propelled the O's to a 9-1 blowout win. Baltimore has now won three straight and seven of 10 and sits in first place in the AL East. Meanwhile, the loss of Ventura did little to help the Royals cause. Ventura had been the club's most consistent starter. His ejection led to the clubs sixth straight loss and dropped them 2.5 back of the Indians in the AL Central. The O's also get their best pitcher on the hill today in Christ Tillman. Tillman is 7-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. Edison Volquez will start for the Royals with a 5-5 record and 4.03 ERA. Volquez got shelled last time out, allowing five runs over 6.1 innings and walking four. The Orioles are hot and the Royals are not. I like the pitching matchup for Baltimore and even if Machado doesn't play, I'm laying the price here with the home club. Play Baltimore.

06/07 08:05 PM EST MLB (967) HOUSTON ASTROS VS (968) TEXAS RANGERS Take: (968) TEXAS RANGERS Reason: Bragging rights for Texas continue here on Tuesday as the Rangers host the Astros. Houston lost the opening game of this series to the Rangers on Monday, 6-5. The Rangers had a walk off double in the 9th to win the game. Houston has struggled both on offense and with their pitching. Neither group ranks above 13th in the major stats. No one person has signified the Houston struggles than tonight's starter, Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel is 3-7 this season with a 5.50 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Keuchel is the reigning Cy Young winner, but has struggled all season. Meanwhile, the Rangers have won four straight games and now are four games ahead of Seattle for the AL West lead. The Rangers have dominated their rivals from the South, winning seven straight from the Astros this season. The numbers are even worse for Houston when they play in Arlington, losing 11 straight games. Texas will start Cole Hamels tonight. Hamels is 5-1 with a 3.39 ERA this season. Hamels has had five quality starts in his last six games. The Astros just seem snake bitten when they play the Rangers. Moreover, with Texas playing very well and having a advantage on the mound tonight, I'm sticking with Texas here.

Cleveland comes off a 7-0 rout of Kansas City on Sunday, outscoring the defending world champions 25-6, including 20-2 over the final three contests. Indians' starter Trevor Bauer (3-2, 4.27 ERA) has been consistent, allowing three runs or less in nine of ten starts while allowing fewer hits than innings pitched. The Indians are 11-1 after scoring five runs or more in their previous game and they face a Seattle squad with a losing home record. The Mariners have lost three in a row scoring nine runs at Texas while allowing 20 runs. The NY Yankees are struggling to get back to .500 right now and not fall any further back in the AL East. The Yankees trail the Red Sox by 6.5 games. The Yankees can take the series from the Orioles with a win today. New York beat Baltimore on Saturday, 8-6. Veteran southpaw CC Sabathia is 3-4 for the Yanks with a very good 2.85 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Sabathia's record doesn't reflect how well he's actually pitched this season. Sabathia has only allowed three earned runs over his last four starts (26 innings), but is just 2-2 to show for it. The Orioles are having a fine season, off to a 31-23 record and just one game back of the Red Sox. The O's will start Kevin Gausman, who is 0-3 with a 3.78 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Gausman has eight starts but no wins. The 25-year old has been hit hard his last two starts, allowing nine runs over 11 innings with six home runs. Reason: AL Game of the Week: Toronto can move to within 2.5 games of AL East leader Boston with a win today. The Blue Jays have been playing very well, winning eight of their last 10. Saturday's loss to the Red Sox snapped a four-game win streak. Marco Estrada will look to continue his very good season. Estrada is 3-2 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. Estrada is coming off a excellent performance, allowing no runs and just three hits to the Yankees over eight innings of work. That win was his sixth quality start in his last seven games. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have lost six of their last 10 games. Boston has the best hitting team in the majors, 1st in all four major categories. Eduardo Rodriquez will start today. The 23-year old Venezuelan is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in his only start this season. Rodriquez is coming off a rehab stint in triple-A because of knee issues. Both of these clubs right around the .500 mark this season, however that still good enough to keep both in the AL Central race. The White Sox are just two back of the Indians and the Tigers just 3.5 back. The Sox were in 1st place, but a recent 2-9 slide has them in third place now. The Sox will try and salvage the rubber game of their series with the Tigers. Detroit has taken the first two games of this series, scoring 17 runs in the process. Jose Quintana will start for Chicago with a 5-5 record and 2.13 ERA. The Tigers have lost the last four starts by Quintana. However, don't blame the pitcher as he received just five total runs of support. The Tigers have won three of their last four. Justin Verlander will look to improve on his 4-5 record today. Verlander has a 4.11 ERA and a nifty 1.09 WHIP. Verlander has made five quality starts in a row and has seen his ERA drop from 5.40 to 4.11. The Mets may also be without their big hitter today in CFB Yoenis Cespedes who is questionable after missing Saturday's contest. Reason: It looks to be a one-horse race right now in the NL West, with the San Francisco Giants off to a 5.5 game lead over the Dodgers and the rest of the pack 9.5 or more back. The Giants have won two straight games and seven of their last 10. The Giants pitching staff has been really good, especially since they added Johnny Cueto this season. The Giants have allowed just one run over their last three wins and that was last night in their win against St Louis, 5-1. Cueto picked up his ninth win of the season in that game. The Giants just reload today with Jeff Samardzija. The 31-year old veteran is having an excellent season for the Giants with a 7-3 record and 2.84 ERA. Samardzija did lose last time out at Atlanta. However, Samardzija has been solid, going at least six innings in nine of his 11 starts this season. Samardzija looks like the pitcher he was a couple of seasons ago, as his groundball rate is back to what it was (47%) and his strikeout ratio is also up this year (7.8k per 9 innings). St Louis is dropping further and further back in the AL Central, now 11 games back of the Cubs. The Cards have lost two straight and six of their last 10. The club is still one of the better hitting teams in the NL, but their pitching has dropped this season. Point in case is today's starter, Michael Wacha. Wacha is just 2-6 this season with a 4.99 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. The Cardinals have lost six of his last seven starts. In addition, Wacha has seen his ERA go from 2.65 at the beginning of May to 4.99 today. The Giants are playing very well right now and with the way the pitching is throwing they look to be strong again today. Play San Francisco.

The Houston Astros have climbed their way out of last place in the AL West and now are tied for third, seven games back of the Rangers. The Astros look to keep their winning ways as Collin McHugh toes the rubber today. McHugh is 5-4 with a 4.82 ERA. Houston has won McHugh's last two starts with the 28-year old going the distance his last time out at Arizona in a a 8-3 win. McHugh had an excellent May, going 3-1 and seeing his ERA drop from 6.59 to 4.82. The A's have now taken over last place in the AL West. Oakland has a terrible pitching staff, ranked 26th in ERA (2.77), 25th in Whip (1.42) and 25th in opponent batting average (.270). The A's never had a shot in game one last night, falling behind 7-0 after the 1st inning. It doesn't look to get much better today with Kendall Graveman on the hill. Graveman is 2-6 with a 5.09 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. Graveman did snap a five-game losing streak last time out vs Minnesota going six innings and allowing two runs. The A's are 6-18 in Graveman's last 24 starts and 0-4 in his last four road starts. The Astros have won five of the last six meetings in Houston and I don't see that changing here today as the Astros are playing their best ball of the season. Play Houston.

6/04 01:10 PM MLB (915) TAMPA BAY RAYS VS (916) MINNESOTA TWINS Take: (915) TAMPA BAY RAYS Reason: Tampa Bay needs a win streak to get itself out of the cellar in the AL East. The Rays are just 23-30 on the season. The Rays snapped a five-game losing streak on Friday with a win over the Twins, 4-2. They look for their second straight win today and they have the man on the mound that can do it. Matt Andriese has pitched very well this season with a 3-0 record, 2.36 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. Andriese has just five starts, but they have all been quality starts. Andriese is a ground ball pitcher and had 13 groundball outs last Monday and at least eight in every start. He's also allowed just one home run this season. Meanwhile, Minnesota knows all about being in the cellar, a place they have been since day one. The Twins are 16-38 and 14 games back in the AL Central. The Twins hitting has been horrible, ranking 25th or worse in all the major categories. The Twins have had some pretty bad losing streaks this year. Nine losses to start the season and then eight losses to start May. Now, they have lost four out of their last five games. Ervin Santana starts today with a 1-4 record and 4.13 ERA. The Twins have won just one of Santana's nine starts this season. Both clubs have struggled this year, but we get a big difference on the mound with Andriese. I'm taking the Rays here on Saturday.

06/04 01:10 PM MLB (919) CHICAGO WHITE SOX VS (920) DETROIT TIGERS Take: Division Dominator, (919) CHICAGO WHITE SOX Reason: The Chicago White Sox are battling in the AL Central with Kansas City and Cleveland. Only 1.5 games separate the three teams. The White Sox held the top spot for a good portion of the season, but a 2-8 run has dropped them from their perch. Never fear though, as ace Chris Sale starts today. Sale is 9-1 with a 2.29 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. Sale had an amazing run where he allowed either one run or no runs in six of seven games. The Sox have lost his last two starts, but last time out Sale allowed just two runs over seven innings. Detroit struggles to get back to .500, sitting at 26-28 in the AL Central and four back of the leaders. The Tigers beat the Sox on Friday, 10-3 behind Jordan Zimmermann's eighth win. Winless Mike Pelfrey will try and get that goose egg off his record tonight. Pelfrey is 0-5 with a 4.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. Pelfrey gives up a lot of hits and has allowed multiple home runs in three of his last five starts. The right-hander has pitched better, but not well enough. The Over is 9-4-2 in the Mariners last 15 interleague games. They are also 13-3-2 over the total against a right-handed starter. Seattle goes with wacky Wade Miley (4.95 ERA), off a 6-5 defeat to a weak hitting Minnesota team. San Diego is 13-5 over the total against a left-handed starter. Starter Colin Rea (4.47 ERA) has struggled, off a 9-5 loss to the Dodgers in this same park. And the Over is 8-2 in Rea's last 10 home starts. Play Seattle/San Diego Over the total.

Fifth straight road game for Pittsburgh, looking road weary over the weekend, scoring a pair of runs in two losses at Texas. They got a victory yesterday pounding the Marlins, 10-0, so the home team has a chip on its shoulder after getting embarrassed. Marlins' CF Marcell Ozuna had his 11-game hitting streak and 36-game on-base streak snapped with an 0-for-3 night. Miami ace Jose Fernandez (7-2, 2.82 ERA) is rolling. Fernandez pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits while walking one and striking 12 batters in Thursday's win against the Rays. Fernandez has been lights-out this month, winning all five of his starts while allowing more than one run in just one of those outings. He's sporting a dynamite 90-15 strikeout to walk ratio. Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton is expected to return Tuesday, and the Marlins are 25-2 in Fernandez's last 27 home starts. Play Miami.

The bad news for the Tigers is that they are in fourth place in the AL Central. The good news is that they are just three games out of first place. The Tigers lost two of three in Oakland over the weekend. Justin Verlander is still trying to find that groove he once had. The 33-year-old is 4-4 with a 4.02 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Verlander has had four quality starts in a row, including two straight wins where he's allowed three earned runs over 15.1 innings. The Angels have struggled this season, as they sit at 22-28 and seven back of Texas. The offense and the pitching are both middle of the road in rankings. Mike Trout is the one standout, leading the club in home runs (11), BA (.317) and RBIs (37). The Angels have lost four of their last five and allowed 33 runs over those five games. Jhoulys Chacin starts for the Halos. Chacin came over via trade with the Braves in early May. Chacin has been average in his three starts for LA, allowing nine runs over 17.1 innings. The line has come down on the Tigers from 1.40 to 1.28, which is much more to my liking. I'm taking the Tigers here today.

11 straight Platinum winners! Jim Feist puts big money on these plays and when you win 11 in a row, you know they are valuable. Today Jim looks at the Cubbies for his Platinum club selection. The Cubs are the best team in baseball right now at 34-14 and 6.5 game lead over the Pirates. They have won five straight games after Sunday's win over Philly, 7-2. The Cubs has been scoring runs in bunches, evidenced by the 38 runs scored over their five-game win streak. Jason Hammel has been one of the best starters for the Cubs with a 6-1 record and 2.17 ERA. Hammel had a rough outing against the Brewers on May 19, but bounced back very nicely with a win over the Cardinals in his last outing. In fact, Hammel has allowed over three runs just once in his nine starts. The Dodgers won two straight at the Mets, including Sunday's win behind Clayton Kershaw, 4-2. The Cubs will miss Kershaw in this series and face Alex Wood today. Wook is 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. The Dodgers have lost four of Wood's last five starts. Cubbies just too tough right now and with Hammel on the hill I love this play. Take Chicago.

The Cardinals find themselves in a unfamiliar position, 9.5 games back of the Cubs for the NL Central lead. The Cards lost on Sunday to the Nationals, 10-2. Their bullpen has been very overworked of late and it showed on Sunday. The birds can sure use a long outing out of starter Carlos Martinez. Martinez is 4-5 with a 4.25 ERA. Unfortunately for the pen, Martinez hasn't gone past 5 innings in any of his last four starts. The Brewers have been playing better of late, winning six of the last 10 and five of the last six. The Brewers took two of three from the Reds, including Sunday, 5-4. Junior Guerra starts today for Milwaukee and is pitching very well. Guerra is 3-0 with a 3.30 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in five starts. In fact, the Brewers have won all five of Guerra's starts. We get the home club here as a small dog and with Guerra not losing yet for Milwaukee, this looks like a good home dog spot. Play the Brewers.

This is the year the Giants are supposed to win the World Series. They won it in 2010, 2012, 2014 and now, maybe 2016? So far it's looking like a good trend, as the Giants are in 1st place in the NL West, 4.5 games ahead of the Dodgers. The Giants have won eight of their last 10 games, including Saturday's contest at Colorado, 10-5. SFO looks to take the rubber game here on Sunday with their top pitcher, Johnny Cueto. Cueto came over in the off season and hasn't dissapointed with a 7-1 record (3rd in MLB in wins), 2.38 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. Cueto has gone the distance in his last two starts, allowing just one earned run, two walks and 14 KO's. The Rockies will counter with Chris Rusin. The 29-year-old Michigan native has a 3.93 ERA in nine appearances this year. Cueto just too good to pass on in this spot, especially with a hot Giants team behind him. Play San Franciso.

Detroit has clawed its way back to the .500 mark at 24-24. The Tigers pitching has not been good, ranking 21st or lower in the most categories. Detroit looks to take this rubber game after losing Saturday to the A's, 12-3. Mike Pelfrey still looking for his first win this year for the Tigers. Pelfrey is 0-4 with a 5.55 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in his nine starts. Pelfrey has the 2nd worst WHIP this season among qualified starters. Right now, Pelfrey looks to be the guy leaving the rotation once Shane Greene returns. The A's are looking to build on their win with one of their best pitchers starting today, Rich Hill. Hill is 7-3 with a 2.18 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. The A's have won four straight when Hill starts and six of the last seven. Hill has allowed just one earned run over his last 14 innings with just one walk. In addition, Hill has surrendered just two home runs in his 10 starts. Today we have a pitcher with great control, riding a nice four-game win streak against one of the worst control pitchers this season who soon could be out of the rotation. This one is easy, take the A's.

The AL East has been playing musical chairs with the division lead. Right now, Boston holds the top spot with a one-game lead over the Orioles. The O's and Indians have split the first two games of their four-game series with Baltimore taking game one and Cleveland taking Saturday's contest, 11-4. The O's send one of their top pitchers to the hill today in Chris Tillman. Tillman is 6-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Tillman has had seven quality starts in a row, allowing no runs twice, one run once and two runs three times. The Indians lead the AL Central, but KC and Chicago are just a half game back in a very competitive division. The Indians will send Mike Clevinger to the mound to start. Don't expect the 25-year old to be around long though, as he's last just 5.0 and 5.1 innings in his two starts. Clevinger is 0-1 with a 8.71 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Big difference here today in starters with a relative unknown in Clevenger going up against arguably the best pitcher right now for the O's. That's what separates these teams today. Take the Orioles

5/28 10:05 PM EST MLB (975) HOUSTON ASTROS VS (976) LOS ANGELES ANGELS Take: (976) LOS ANGELES ANGELS Reason: What a difference a year makes. Last season about this time the Astros where cruising in the AL West. Fast forward to today, they are in last place with a 20-29 record and nine games back of the Mariners. What's the problem? To start, the offense has not produced. The club ranks 17th or worse in the top four offensive categories. And, the pitching staff isn't better, managing a top spot of only 16th in WHIP (1.34). Dallas Keuchel was excellent last season, not so this year. The 28-year-old Tulsa native is just 2-6 with a 5.92 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. The Astros have lost six of his last seven starts. Moreover, Keuchel has allowed 18 earned runs over his last 18.1 innings. Which leaves us to wonder how the Astros are a road favorite tonight against the Angels. The Angels took game one of this series on Friday, 7-2. Jered Weaver starts today with a 4-3 mark and 5.33 ERA. Weaver is coming off one of his best starts of the season, allowing just two runs over seven innings to the Orioles. The Astros are 1-4 in their last five games in Anaheim. I think this game should be closer to pick'em or even the Angels a small chalk. I'll take LA here as the small dog and lots of value. Play LA Angels.

5/28 07:15 PM EST MLB (961) ST. LOUIS CARDINALS VS (962) WASHINGTON NATIONALS Take: (961) MLB Dog Game of the Month: (961) ST. LOUIS CARDINALS. The Cardinals find themselves in an unfamiliar spot, 8 1/2 games back of first place in the NL Central. With the Cubs having the best record in baseball, St Louis will be hard pressed to catch their rivals. The Cards offense is very good, 2nd in Runs (265), 2nd in slugging, 4th in On Base Percentage and 8th in batting average (.264). Pitching has really been the issue for this year's club. The staff is 20th in ERA and 15 in BAA (.250). Adam Wainwright hasn't pitched like we've been accustomed to seeing him pitch. The right hander is 4-3 with a 5.77 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. However, the Cardinals have won his last six starts and he's seen his ERA drop from 7.16 to 5.77 during that span. Washington has had its own issues with the offense, not ranking better than 14th in any batting category this year. Gio Gonzalez has pitched well for the Nats, posting a 3-2 mark and 2.87 ERA. Gonzo is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing seven runs over just 5 innings with three home runs and 10 hits. That one outing jumped his ERA over one full run. The Cardinals have won Wainwrights' last four starts vs the Nationals and are 9-4 overall in their last 13 meetings in Washington. With Wainwright improving each game I like the value here with the dog. Take St Louis.

5/28 04:10 PM EST MLB (953) MIAMI MARLINS VS (954) ATLANTA BRAVES Take: (953) MIAMI MARLINS Reason: The Miami Marlins are having a decent season, with a 25-23 record. They are in a tough NL East with the Mets and Nationals though. The Marlins have an efficient offense, ranking third in baseball in BA (2.76), but trouble getting those hitters to cross the plate as they rank 20th in runs (193). Miami lost the opener to the Braves on Friday, 4-2. They turn to Wei-Yin Chen to get them back on track today. Chen is 3-2 with a 4.61 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Miami has won five of Chen's last six starts. The Braves have the worst record in the NL and tied for worst in baseball at 13-34. There's not much you can say about this team, as their offense is near bottom in the MLB and the pitching isn't much better. Aaron Blair hasn't fooled any batters this year, posting a 0-3 mark with a 7.59 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. The 24-year-old Las Vegas native has come up snake-eyes in his five starts. In addition, Blair went just 1.1 innings in his last start, allowing nine runs! I don't usually like laying the number on the road team like this, but I'll make an exception today. Take Miami.

Lamb fell to 1-7 in his career after allowing four runs (three earned) in six innings of a 4-0 setback against Seattle on Saturday. The Reds are 14-37 vs. a right-handed starter and 16-41 in their last 57 road games. The Reds are also 9-23 vs. the National League Central. Milwaukee is home after a six-game trip playing well, winning three in a row. The Breweres are 12-4 against a team with a winning percentage below .400 and the home teams holds all the cards.
