Jack's Free Pick Saturday: Detroit Tigers -1.5 (-105)

The Detroit Tigers pulled away in the 9th inning last night to beat the Angels 9-1 and cash for us on the Run Line.  I'll go back to the Tigers today for many of the same reasons.  The Tigers are 21-12 while scoring 5.0 runs per game and allowing just 3.3 runs per game this season as one of the most underrated teams in baseball.

The Angels are 0-7 in their last seven games with all seven losses by 2 runs or more.  They are 3-14 in their last 17 games with 13 of those 14 losses by 2 runs or more.  They are really struggling at the plate scoring 4 runs or fewer in 18 of their last 19 games.  They are scoring 3.6 runs per game and allowing 5.4 runs per game on the season.

This is mostly a play against Kyle Hendricks, who is one of my favorite starters to bet against.  Hendricks went 4-12 with a 5.92 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in his final season with the Cubs last year.  It's shocking the Angels are giving him a chance, and it is clearly backfiring thus far.  Hendricks is 0-3 with a 6.65 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in five starts this season.  He has allowed 15 earned runs in 12 innings in his last three starts coming in.

Jack Flaherty went 13-7 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 28 starts between the Tigers and Dodgers last season.  Flaherty has posted a 3.34 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in six starts for the Tigers this season with 38 K's in 32 1/3 innings.  With a big advantage on the mound and at the plate tonight, the Tigers should win this game by multiple runs once again.  Bet the Tigers on the Run Line Saturday.

Our selection is on Deiveson Figueiredo to defeat Corey Sandhagen on Sunday at 12:15am ET for a number of reasons. Here are some of the more important ones:

Deiveson Figueiredo doesn't get much respect in this weight class after he moved up a couple of years ago now.

He was the Flyweight Champion for a long time and is now 3-1 in the Bantamweight weight class losing to another former champ in Petr Yan.

We think that Yan would have been a harder fight than today's against Sandhagen.

Corey Sandhagen also lost his last fight. It was against Umar Nurmagomedov. But, he will be off a loss too.

The American has lost three of his L6 fights and also has a loss to Yan.

This fight should be a lot closer than the line shows and we think that there's a lot of value on taking Figueiredo tonight.
