07-12-14 | Netherlands v. Brazil OVER 3 | 3-0 | Push | 0 | 11 h 17 m | Show
I'm playing the Over between Netherlands and Brazil on Saturday. How much does the 3rd place game mean? Well, one top Dutch player said on Thursday, he couldn't care less about this game. What we should take from this and most of the last 40 years of World Cup consolation games is that the field opens up thanks to less intensity, which shows-up mostly on the defensive end. The consolation game has seen at least 3 goals scored in each of the last nine World Cup tourneys. The last time a 3rd place game didn't see at least 3 goals was all the way back in 1974. We'll see Brazil and the Dutch opening up the field. The teams will likely take chances they'd never take if the Cup was on the line. And reserves will also get a chance to shine, which is a big deal for them, especially on the offensive end of the pitch. Both teams will score goals in this one in my opinion and I'm playing the Over between Brazil and the Netherlands on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

07-05-14 | Belgium v. Argentina UNDER 2.5 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 14 h 24 m | Show |
I'm playing the Under between Belgium & Argentina on Saturday. Many are asking, "what's wrong with Argentina?" An honest answer is that they have been a bit lethargic at times, but are head-and-shoulders above most of the competition. Despite a lack of defensive focus from time-to-time, Argentina has still allowed just 3 goals in four World Cup games thus far, and "pitched" a pair of shutouts in their final two International Friendlies. That's an average of 1 goal allowed every two games. I expect a focused and intense effort in this one and that means a defensive battle. Belgium is not a team that normally attacks with abandon except when they face a team like USA, one they out-classed. Besides the style of play, also leading to the potential for a low scoring game is the fact that the world's best goal-keeper (Thibaut Courtois) resides between the pipes for Belgium. This promises to be a game decided late, maybe even in extra time and I'm betting it's due to a low scoring game played in regulation. I'm playing the Under, my Quarterfinals Total of the Year. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

07-04-14 | France v. Germany UNDER 2.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 7 h 29 m | Show
I'm playing the Under between France & Germany on Friday. While both teams own plenty of firepower, it's very likely the first team to one goal will lock down and play a style of two blocks of four in front of their goal keeper. Okay, maybe not to that extreme, but not that far off. Germany dominated Algeria for big stretches in their round of 16 contest, yet were more worried about the defensive end. It's why we saw no goals through regulation, but 3 goals scored in the two 15-minute extra time periods. And as much as I liked France through the group stage and round of 16, the fact is, they saw no opponent even close to the level of Germany. The Germans are incredible in the midfield and own a brand of unmatched discipline. France will not find many free breaks like they did in June. I believe we're in for a low scoring game and won't be surprised if this one heads to extra time scoreless, or tied 1-1. Either way, we would cash the ticket. I'm playing the Under between France & Germany on Friday, my Total Dominator! Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

07-01-14 | USA v. Belgium UNDER 2 | Top | 0-0 | Win | 110 | 9 h 28 m | Show |
I'm playing the Under between USA & Belgium on Tuesday. The Belgians are likely a World Cup away from truly challenging for a tourney win. They're actually less experienced than team-USA. And they have played a very cautious brand of soccer so far in this tourney in order to not get beat on the back-line. This has worked for Belgium, defending rather than attacking until the final 20 minutes of action. They have scored a grand total of just 4 goals, including a pair of 1-0 wins to end the group stage. Team-USA will attack when possible, but will face a focused and fit back-line. In fact, these two teams are considered the two fittest teams in the World Cup, which means there will be no wearing thin on the defensive end in the late stages of action. And USA is not likely to find Belgium defensive breakdowns like they saw against Portugal and Ghana. I expect USA to find the Belgium back-line much like the saw in their 1-0 loss to Germany...strong, fit, and focused. I'm playing the Under between the USA & Belgium, my World Cup Beatdown on Tuesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

06-30-14 | Algeria v. Germany OVER 3 | Top | 0-0 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
I'm playing the Over between Algeria & Germany on Monday afternoon. Two teams with green lights to attack on the offensive end will go at it in this Knockout round matchup. Germany is one of the top scoring teams in the world, but they do have some holes on the back-line that may eventually cost them a World Cup championship. Three group stage games saw a total of 9 goals scored between the Germans and their opponents. In fact, going back to their final two "friendlies" before the WC kicked-off we saw Germany and Cameroon combine for 4 goals. We saw another 7 goals scored when Germany met Armenia. The average combined goals scored between Germany and their last five opponents is 4. Take away the 1-0 game against USA and we're talking about an average of nearly 5 goals scored per game. Algeria will not back down. They will attack on the offensive end with their coach giving them the green light to do so. This may not be the best chance to advance for the underdog Algerians, but the bottom line is that the Germans can be caught off-guard on the defensive end. I believe we're in for a high scoring game and I'm playing the Over on Monday, my Knockout Total GOY. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

06-28-14 | Uruguay v. Colombia +100 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 18 h 38 m | Show |
I'm backing Colombia on Saturday in their Knockout round contest with Uruguay. You have to be able to score plenty of goals to win the World Cup. In fact, 14 of the last 16 World Cup champions have owned a goal differential of +3 or better through the group stage. Colombia can score with the best of them and in fact, are tied with the Netherlands with a World Cup best +7 goal differential as we head into the Knockout round. While they have plenty of attackers, they also have an important go-to-scorer in James Rodriguez, who has three goals thus far. Uruguay has better long-term Cup history than their opponents, but with Luis Suarez suspended for the next four months for biting an opponent, they're without a true striker. Suarez led the team with two goals in the group stage, despite not playing in the opening game. They lost the opener 3-1 to Costa Rica and without Suarez, they were not only without a quality goal scorer, but looked lost when it came to ideas on how to attack the opposition. Suarez is that important. He's one of the top-five offensive players in the world. Look for Colombia to take full advantage and advance past the Knockout round for the first time...ever! I'm backing Colombia on Saturday, my Beatdown release. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. |

06-26-14 | USA v. Germany -153 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 0 m | Show |
I'm backing Germany on the money-line on Thursday. Team USA is in a very tough spot. While a draw would be a terrific result, Germany will not be playing for one like conspiracy-minded media members would like to believe. Germany is a fired-up football team after looking sluggish against Ghana, settling for a draw. Game-2 in group stage play has been the Achilles Heel for the Germans in World Cup action over the years, but this world power has a chance to make up for it against an out-manned USA team on Thursday. Team USA is off an excruciating result on Sunday. On one hand, beating Ghana and drawing with Portugal is a terrific feat from a pre-World Cup perspective. But grabbing a draw from the clutches of victory on virtually the final play of the game with Portugal was heart-breaking. More importantly, USA played in very tough and extremely warm conditions. They also have had one less day to rest and prepare for this game and let's face it...while major improvements are being made, USA soccer is not on par with Germany. Look for Germany to come out in serious attack mode, take an early lead, then clamp down on the defensive end. I'm backing Germany, my Afternoon Annihilator on Thursday. Thanks & GL!
