04-16-22 | Diamondbacks v. Mets -1.5 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 35 m | Show
The Mets continue to play well and their pitching staff continues to dominate. The Mets punished Arizona on Friday to the tune of a 10-3 win. Only one Mets starter has a ERA of 3.00 or higher and that's Max Scherzer who has a 3.27 ERA. Arizona is just 2-5 and lost five of their last six games. Zac Gallen makes his first start of the season for the D'backs. Gallen was 4-10 last year with a 4.30 ERA. Don't expect Gallen to make much difference here today against the Mighty Mets. I'll lay the Run Line like I did yesterday with the Mets. |

04-15-22 | Diamondbacks v. Mets -1.5 | 3-10 | Win | 100 | 2 h 27 m | Show
Early game on the schedule today has the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the Mets. Arizona has struggled to a 2-4 start to their season and that isn't good considering they play in arguably the best division in baseball, the NL West. The D'back won their opening game, then dropped four straight before winning on Wednesday against the Astros, 3-2. Zach Davies gets the call to the mound today for the D'backs. Davies pitched well in his opener and got a no decision for his effort. Davies went five innings, allowed four hits and two runs against the Padres which the D'backs eventually lost, 2-5. The NY Mets are off to a nice 5-2 start and have to be considered a favorite to win the division. The Mets are a great pitching team, in fact all five starters have a ERA of 3.27 or less this year. Today's starter, Chris Bassitt went six strong innings in his opening game against the Nationals. Bassitt allowed just three hits and no runs to go with eight KO's and one walk. I don't see the D'back light hitting team getting much today if not shut out entirely. The Mets shouls have little trouble with Arizona. I'll lay the Run-Line with New York today. |
09-30-21 | Padres v. Dodgers -1.5 | 3-8 | Win | 100 | 6 h 51 m | Show
The Dodgers looked dead in the water last night as they trailed the Padres. 9-6 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning. But four home runs and five runs lead them to another win, 11-9 to keep them 2-games back of the Giants. Tonight, they start Tony Gonsolin who is 3-1 in his 12 starts with a 2.56 ERA. Gonsolin has a 2-1 home record with a 2.13 ERA. He has allowed more than two runs just one time in his 12 starts and that was only three runs. The Padres start Vincent Velasquez who is 3-8 on the season wwith a 6.19 ERA. He's been much worse of late, going 0-5 in his last seven starts with a 12.36 ERA. The Dodgers can't afford any losses and I'll lay the Run Line here tonight. Play LA -1.5 Runs. |
09-29-21 | Diamondbacks v. Giants -1.5 | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -130 | 7 h 35 m | Show |
The Giants are driving toward that NL West title. They lead the Dodgers by 2-games and don't look to give up that lead. They are hosting the last place Diamondbacks and then welcome the Padres. Looks like they should easily hold that division lead. The Diamondbacks right now look to play spoiler and came close last night, losing just 1-2. The D'backs start Merrill Kelly here tonight. Kelly is 7-11 with a 4.59 ERA. He has allowed 15 runs over his last three starts (15 2/3 innings). The Giants will start Alex Wood. Wood is 10-4 with a 4.00 ERA and a slightly better 3.86 ERA at home. Wood hadn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last five starts. I'll lay the Run Line here tonight with the Giants. |
09-26-21 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Diamondbacks | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 5 h 38 m | Show
Dodgers should not be losing to this poor Arizona club, but that's just what happened yesterday as Clayton Kershaw couldn't get the win and LA lost 2-7. That drops LA back to 2-games from the leading Giants. Only two series left after this D'backs so they need wins and can't afford losses to this kind of club. Good news is one of their best on the mound today in Julio Urias who is 18-3 on the season with a 3.10 ERA. He's been even better of late, going 5-0 with a 2.04 ERA over his last seven starts. The D'backs start Humberto Mejia who is 0-2 in his three starts with a 7.20 ERA. Dodgers win this one going away, lay the Run Line. |
09-24-21 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Diamondbacks | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 43 m | Show
The Wild Wild NL West has just gotten closer with the Dodgers closing to one game of the division leading Giants. The loser of this division will get the top NL Wild card and host that game, but neither want that one and done position. The Dodgers begin a 3-game set here tonight at Arizona before returning home for their last games of the regular season against San Diego and then Milwaukee. LA Starts Tony Gonsolin tonight who is 2-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.43 ERA. Gonsolin has been very good, allowing two runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts. He will face Humberto Castellanos tonight who is 2-0 in his five starts with a 4.63 ERA. Gonsolin just too dominating for me to pass on him here tonight. I'll take the Dodgers and lay the Run Line. |
09-14-21 | Padres v. Giants -1.5 | 1-6 | Win | 125 | 5 h 8 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants just won't lose these days, much to the dismay of 2nd place LA that is trying to catch them. The Giants won again on Monday over the Padres, making them winners of eight straight games and they are 10-1 their last 11 games. The Padres have lost four straight games and seven of their last 11 games. Jake Arrieta starts today for the Padres. Arrieta is 5-12 on the season with a lofty 7.03 ERA. That goes way up in his last seven starts as he's 0-4 with a 12.17 ERA. Anthony Desclafani starts for the Giants. He's 11-6 with a 3.33 ERA on the season. Doesn't get any easier here tonight for the Padres who will once again struggle to score runs. Take San Francisco on the Run Line. |
09-12-21 | Blue Jays -1.5 v. Orioles | 22-7 | Win | 100 | 1 h 26 m | Show
Toronto and Baltimore played only 7 innings on Saturday, but there was no lack of runs with the Jays winning 11-10. Toronto is tied for the 2nd Wild Card slot right now with the Yankees. But there are two teams nipping at their heals so they can't let their guards down. Toronto has been hot, winning nine of their last 10 games and 12 of their last 14 games. Toronto starts Steven Matz here today. Matz is 11-7 on the season with a 3.70 ERA. He's been very good of late, going 3-1 with a 1.63 ERA over his last seven starts. The ORioles will start Zac Lowther here today. Lowther has started just two games and he's allowed eight runs over 8 2/3 innings. Not much to go by with Lowther at this point. But I do know what I'm getting with the Blue Jays and Matz. Take Toronto on the Run Line. |
09-07-21 | Giants -1.5 v. Rockies | Top | 12-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 22 m | Show |
Giants came out of the weekend with the Dodgers and are still 1-game ahead of the Dodgers in the NL West. They have won two straight games as they continue to keep the Dodgers at bay. The Rockies are 25-games back of the Giants and have lost two straight games. The Rockies have been a very good home team, but have lost two straight at home and three of their last five. Logan Webb starts for the Giants with a 8-3 record and 2.59 ERA. He's been very good of late, going 4-0 with a 1.39 ERA over his last seven starts. Chi Chi Gonzalez starts for the Rockies with his 2-5 record and 6.20 ERA. Despite the Rockies decent home record I'm taking a very good Webb here today on the Run Line. |
09-05-21 | Orioles v. Yankees -1.5 | 8-7 | Loss | -150 | 2 h 43 m | Show
The Yankees have won just five of their last 10 games and because of that have slipped to 7.5-games back of 1st place Tampa Bay after having close to 5.5-games. The Orioles are one of the worst teams in baseball, yet they beat the Yankees on Saturday 4-3, thus splitting the first two games of this series. Keegan Akin starts for the Orioles today. Keegan is 2-8 with a 7.33 ERA and that goes up to 8.55 on the road. Corey Kluber makes his second start for the Yankees since coming off the disabled list. Kluber didn't fare to well in his first outing, going just four innings vs the Angels and allowing five hits and five runs. Still, the Orioles are just horrible with a terrible starter today. I'll take another shot with Kluber today on the Run Line. |
09-04-21 | Twins v. Rays -1.5 | 4-11 | Win | 100 | 3 h 26 m | Show
Tampa Bay has extended its lead in the AL East over the NY Yankees to 6.5-games, thanks in big part to a 8-2 run over their last 10 games. The Twins, well they are in last in the AL Central and that doesn't look to change. They have lost three straight games and six of their last 10 games. The Twins start Andrew Albers here today for just his second start of the season. Albers did well in his first start, going 5 1/3 innings vs the Brewers, allowing three hits and no runs. Chris Archer makes just his third start since returning from the IL list. Archer has allowed just two runs over his six innings with 10 KO's and just two walks. Rays just too tough to pass on here today. Lay the Run Line with the Rays. |
08-29-21 | Rays -1.5 v. Orioles | Top | 12-8 | Win | 100 | 2 h 7 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Rays have won 6-straight games and nine of their last 10 games. They have needed it too in order to hold off the surging NY Yankees that have closed the gap in the AL East to just 5-games. The Orioles snapped their 19-game losing streak last week and now have another two-game losing streak started. The O's have dropped the first two games of this set with the Rays, 3-6 and then last night 3-4. The Rays have welcomed back Chris Archer to the rotation. Archer has no record after his one start since April 10th. That was just two innings, but he allowed just one hit and no runs. The O's will start Spenser Watkins who is 2-6 on the season with a 7.24 ERA. He's been slightly worse lately with a 1-6 record and 8.81 ERA over his last seven starts. Archer likely won't go to much farther today, but the O's are bad and they have a bad starter on the hill. Play Tampa Bay on the Run Line. |
08-28-21 | Astros -1.5 v. Rangers | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 19 m | Show
The Houston Astros have opened up a 6.5-game lead in the AL West thanks in part to 2nd place Oakland slumping to 2-8 over their last 10 games. The Rangers are last in the division with a 44-84 record and have lost three straight and eight of their last 10 games. Framber Valdez starts for the Astros today. Valdez is 8-4 on the season with a 2.94 ERA. Kolby Allard starts for the Rangers with his 2-10 record and 5.29 ERA. He's been even worse of late, going 1-4 with a 6.87 ERA in his last seven starts. I'm going to lay the Run Line here today with the Astros. |
08-27-21 | Rays -1.5 v. Orioles | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 9 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles snapped their 19-game losing streak with a win over the Angels on Wednesday. Now, they have won two straight games after beating the Angels twice. Tonight they face AL East leader in Tampa Bay. The Rays need to win since the Yankees have won 12 games and shaved four games off the Rays lead here just recently. Shane McClanahan starts tonight for the Rays. He's 8-4 on the season with a 3.63 ERA. Matt Harvey will start for the Orioles. Harvey is 6-13 with a 6.27 ERA. He's 2-8 at home with a 6.62 ERA. I look for the Rays to take these games serious and therfore I'll lay the Run Line here tonight with Tampa Bay. |
08-25-21 | Angels -1.5 v. Orioles | 6-10 | Loss | -136 | 7 h 17 m | Show
The LA Angels are now sitting in 4th in the AL West, 11.5 games back of the 1st place Houston Astros. The Angels beat the Orioles in game one of this set, 14-8. that win snapped a three game losing streak to the Indians. What can you say about the Orioles. They have now lost 19 straight games as they go for number 20 tonight. The Orioles look to start newly acquired pitcher Chris Ellis. The O's claimed Ellis off waivers from the Rays. Ellis wasn't very good at the Triple-A level with a 6.32 ERA in 57 innings. The Angels will start Shohei Ohtani who is 8-1 on the season with a 2.79 ERA. Ohtani hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last six starts. I'll lay the Run Line here tonight with the Angels. |
08-21-21 | Braves -1.5 v. Orioles | 5-4 | Loss | -120 | 7 h 49 m | Show
How bad have things been for the Baltimore Ravens? How about 16-straight losses and a MLB worst 38-83 record. The Braves have won the first two games of this series, 7-2 and then last night 3-0. Drew Smyly will start today for the Braves. Smyly is 8-3 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. HE's 5-2 on the road with a 4.52 ERA. Veteran Matt Harvey will toe the rubber tonight for the Orioles. Harvey is 6-12 on the season with a 6.25 ERA. Harvey hasn't been horrible, but with these Oriole bats behind him he has to almost be perfect to get a win these days. I'm going to stick with the play I've made the last two nights and that's the Braves run-line. |
08-20-21 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -1.5 | Top | 4-9 | Win | 100 | 8 h 13 m | Show |
Rockies are one of the best home teams in baseball with a 41-21 record at Coor's Field. In fact, they are coming off a 3-game home sweep of the Padres, scoring 20 runs in the 3-game set. Today they face one of the worst road teams in baseball in the Arizona Diamondbacks who are just 14-45 away from home. Tyler Gilbert makes only his second start here for the D'backs. In his first he threw a no-hitter for the Diamondbacks. What a way to make your debut. However, that was at home and now he has to go to the unfriendly pitcher park of Coors. Austin Gomber will start for the Rockies. He's 9-7 on the season, but 5-1 at home with a great 1.70 ERA. I think Gilbert will find life less enjoyable here today in this park. Play Colorado on the Run Line. |
08-20-21 | Braves -1.5 v. Orioles | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 39 m | Show
The Atalanta Braves are in 1st place in the NL East, thanks in big part to their six-game win streak and winning nine of their last 10 games. Today, they play an IL Game against the worst team in the junior circuit. Baltimore is just 38-82 on the season and has lost 15 straight games. Max Fried gets the start for the Braves with a 10-7 record and 3.86 ERA. He's been even better of late, going 5-2 with a 2.36 ERA over his last seven starts. Keegan Akin still looking for his first win of the year for the O's with a 0-7 record in his 10 starts. He has a lofty 9.29 ERA and as hard as it is to believe it's even worse of late with a 0-6 record and 12.67 ERA over his last seven starts. Braves should feast on this team and pitcher here today. Lay the Run line with the Braves. |
08-19-21 | Twins v. Yankees -1.5 | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 9 m | Show
The Twins and Yankees begin a four game set here on Thursday. The Twins enter tonight's game having won seven of their last 10 games. They just took two of the three games from Cleveland and have won four of their last five games and six of the last eight. The Yankees have gotten hot, sweeping the Red Sox and holding them to five total runs over three games. They have won six straight games and eight of their last 10 games. The Twins will start John Gant tonight. Gant is 4-6 on the season with a 3.76 ERA and a 5.93 ERA over his last seven starts. Jameson Taillon is 7-4 on the season with a 3.89 ERA. He's been very good of late, going 3-0 with a 1.74 ERA over his last seven games. I'm taking the Yankees here on Thursday. |
08-17-21 | Blue Jays -1.5 v. Nationals | 6-12 | Loss | -121 | 6 h 27 m | Show
The Blue Jays are 4th in the AL East, 8-games back of 1st place Tampa Bay. The Jays took the final game of their three game set with the Mariners, 8-3. They will play this IL contest here today at Washington. The Nationals Have lost seven straight games and nine of the last 10 games. Toronto starts Alek Manoah today who is 5-1 in his 11 starts this year. Manoah has a nifty 2.59 ERA and 1.017 WHIP. Erick Fedde is 4-8 in his 19 starts for the Nationals. Fedde has a 5.12 overall ERA and a 6.25 ERA over his last seven games. I'm going to lay the Run Line here today with the Blue Jays against a poor Washington team. Play Toronto on the Run Line. |
08-14-21 | A's -1.5 v. Rangers | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 57 m | Show
The Oakland A's have won eight of their last 10 games as they now sit just 2.5-games back of 1st place Houston Astros. The A's need to win games like today against last place Texas, who is just 2-8 over their last 10 games. The A's lost last night's opening game of this series to the Rangers, 6-8. James Kapreilian starts for the A's with his 6-4 record and 3.22 ERA. He's coming off a very good start vs these Rangers, allowing just two runs over six innings in the win. Jordan Lyles will toe the rubber for the Rangers. Lyles is 5-9 with a 5.58 ERA. He's been slightly worse of late with a 2-4 record and 6.15 ERA over his last seven starts. Furthermore, he's allowed 12 runs over his last 11 innings. Take the A's today on the Run Line. |

They get to feast on the D'backs right now who are a whopping 36.5-games back in the West. Zac Gallen will start for the D'backs with his 1-6 record and 4.62 ERA. He's been worse of late, posting a 0-4 mark and 5.18 ERA over his last seven starts. Alex Wood will start for the Dodgers with a 9-3 record and 4.03 ERA. He's got a 3-0 record and 3.93 ERA over his last seven starts. Giants should have no trouble here tonight. Lay the Run Line with SF. |
08-08-21 | Rangers v. A's -1.5 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 54 m | Show |
The Oakland A's are closing the gap between themselves and the 1st place Houston Astros. The Astros lead the A's by 3-games, but have seen two games shaved off that lead here lately. The A's have won three straight and seven of the last 10 games. The Rangers are in last place in the division and have now lost five straight games. Jordan Lyles will start for the Rangers. Lyles is 5-8 with a 5.37 ERA. James Kapreilian will go for the A's with his 5-4 record and 3.23 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 3-2 record and 1.13 ERA. I like the A's a lot here today. I'll lay the Run-Line with the A's. |
08-06-21 | Rangers v. A's -1.5 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 45 m | Show
AL West game here today as the Oakland A's host the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are dead last in the division with a 39-70 record and 26-games back of the Astros. The Rangers have lost three straight games and six of their last 10 games. The A's are holding strong in 2nd place, just four games back of the Astros. Mike Foltynewicz starts tonight for the Rangers with a 2-10 record and lofty 6.00 ERA. But it gets even worse on the road where he is 1-6 with a 8.38 ERA. Chris Bassitt will start for the A's with a 11-3 record and 3.28 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 2.70 ERA. I'm going to lay the Run Line here with the A's. |
07-10-21 | Nationals v. Giants -1.5 | 4-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 27 m | Show
The Giants have won two straight games and extended the NL West lead over the Dodgers to 2-games. The Giants will start Anthony Desclafani today who is 9-3 with a 2.84 ERA. He's been even better his last seven starts with a 1.99 ERA and 5-1 record. The Nationals are in 4th place in the NL East with a 42-45 record. They have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 games. Veteran Jon Lester will start today with a 2-3 record and 5.34 ERA this season. The Giants should take this game as Lester is on the downside of his career. Play Giants -1.5 runs. |
06-20-21 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Diamondbacks | 9-8 | Loss | -114 | 4 h 18 m | Show
The Dodgers are within 1.5 games of first place in the NL West after winning two straight and eight of their last 10 games. The Dodgers have the highest run differential in the National League at +102 runs. They face one the worst run differential team in the NL in the Arizona Diamondbacks at -1.06. The D'backs are done and we aren't even to the All-Star break yet. Arizona has lost 16 straight games and are 25.5 games back of the Giants. What else can you say about this Arizona team, they are just bad. The Dodgers are hot and I really don't care who they have on the mound today, I'll lay the run line in this one. Play LA -1.5 runs. |
05-30-21 | Orioles v. White Sox -1.5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 3 h 21 m | Show
The Chicago White Sox have won three straight games and now sit atop of the AL Central by three games over the Indians. The Orioles, well they are in a free fall. The O's have lost 12 straight games and now are in last place in the AL East, 15.5 games back of first place. Not surprising, the O's will send Keegan Akin to the hill for his first start of the year. Akin was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on May 10th. Akin was 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in August 2020, his first showing in the majors. The White Sox will counter with Lucas Giolito. Giolito is 4-4 in his 10 starts with a 4.04 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 3.19 ERA. Giolito has allowed one run or fewer in four of his last five starts. I like the White Sox in a romp here today. Play White Sox -1.5 Runs. |
05-18-21 | Brewers -1.5 v. Royals | 0-2 | Loss | -106 | 11 h 51 m | Show
Milwaukee and Kansas City begin their series here tonight. The Brewers 4-6 record over their last 10 games has seen them slip to 2nd in the NL Central, two-games back of the Cardinals. The Royals have been in a slide for a while now, the latest a 2-8 mark over their last 10 games. The Royals are in 3rd in the AL Central, but seven games back of division leading Chicago White Sox. The Brewers will start Brandon Woodruff tonight. Woodruff is 2-1 in his eight starts with a 1.64 ERA and 0.730 WHIP. Woodruff has put up even better numbers on the road, posting a 0.70 ERA over his four away starts and a 0.506 WHIP. Kris Bubic will get another look as the No. 5 starter here on Tuesday. Bubic has worked out of the pen but this will be his first major league start. I will stick with a very good Woodruff today against a struggling Royals team. Play the Brewers -1.5 Runs. |
05-16-21 | Giants -1.5 v. Pirates | 4-1 | Win | 107 | 11 h 20 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants two-game losing streak has seen their NL West lead go from 2.5 games to just 1/2 game as of today. No team in the West is really hot, with none winning more than six games in the last 10. Still, the Giants face dropping out of the lead today with a loss and Padres win. Alex Wood looks to stem the tide here today. Wood is 4-0 in his five starts with a nifty 1.80 ERA and 0.800 WHIP. The Pirates are in last place in the NL Central with a 17-22 record. They have won two straight games though. The Bucs have the worst run differential in the National league at -41 runs. Mitch Keller will toe the rubber for Pittsburgh. Keller is 2-4 after seven starts with a lofty 7.81 ERA. It doesn't get any better at home where he is 1-3 in four starts with a 12.22 ERA. The Giants get back in the win column here today. Play San Francisco -1.5 Runs. |
05-15-21 | Royals v. White Sox -1.5 | Top | 5-1 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 18 m | Show |
The Kansas City Royals looking for an answer to their recent slide which has seen the team lost nine of their last 10 games. Won't get any easier today against the AL Central leading White Sox. The Sox have won eight of their last 10 games and have arguably the best AL pitcher on the hill today in Carlos Rondon. Rondon is 5-0 in his five starts with a amazing 0.58 ERA and 0.677 WHIP. No need to look any further than that for this game. I can't lay the money line, but I will lay the run line here today. Play Chicago -1.5 runs. |
05-08-21 | Rockies v. Cardinals -1.5 | 8-9 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 42 m | Show
It's the Penthouse against the Outhouse today as the NL Central leading Cardinals take on the NL West last place Colorado Rockies. The Rockies dropped to 12-20 after losing to the Cardinals on Friday. They have allowed a whopping 5.4 runs per game this year while scoring just 4.7 runs. They will send Chi Chi Gonzalez to the hill today. Gonzalez is 0-0 after four starts with a 4.12 ERA and 1.423 WHIP. The Cardinals improved to 19-14 on the season with their win on Friday. They will start Carlos Martinez today. Martinez is 2-4 after six starts with a 3.72 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 2.92 era AND 0.973 whip. I'm going to lay the run and a half here today with the host. Play St Louis -1.5 Runs. |
04-27-21 | Reds v. Dodgers -1.5 | 6-5 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 17 m | Show
The Dodgers lost a tough one to the Reds on Monday after tying the game at 3-3 they lost in extra Innings, 3-5. The Cincinnati Reds lead baseball in home runs and used the long ball last night for the big win. The Reds improved to 10-12 while the Dodgers dropped to 15-8. The Reds will start Jeff Hoffman tonight who is 2-1 after four starts with a 2.66 ERA and 1.328 WHIP. The Dodgers will start Walker Buehler, who is 1-0 after four starts with a 2.16 ERA and 0.880 WHIP. I'm going to lay the run line here tonight on the Dodgers as they get back to winning. Play LA Dodgers -1.5 Runs |
04-13-21 | Padres -1.5 v. Pirates | 4-8 | Loss | -135 | 6 h 38 m | Show
The San Diego Padres living up to their preseason hype, winning eight games already this season against just three losses. The Padres have also won four straight games. Their pitching has been outstanding, allowing just 2.3 runs per game this season. The Pirates are not off to a good start, going just 3-7 on the season and coming off a loss. In addition, the pitching staff is allowing 5.5 runs per game while the offense is scoring just 3.6 runs per game. Blake Snell will make his third start for the Padres as he looks for his first win. Snell is pitching great, allowing just two runs over his 9 2/3 innings of work with 16 KO's and just 6 walks this season. Chad Kuhl also makes his third start for the Pirates with a 0-1 record. Kuhl has seven innings of work over two starts with just three hits and five earned runs for a 6.43 ERA. Padres just playing too good to not play them here. Price too high though, so I'll lay the 1.5 runs. Play San Diego -1.5 runs. |
04-07-21 | Dodgers -1.5 v. A's | 3-4 | Loss | -103 | 5 h 50 m | Show
LA Dodgers off to a very good start at 5-1 on the season. Can't say the same for the Oakland A's who are still looking for their first win of the season against six losses. Won't be any easier today for the A's as they face Dodger newcomer Trevor Bauer. Bauer came over from the Reds in the offseason and had an excellent first start for the Dodgers, going 6 1/3 innings with just three hits and four runs to get the win over Colorado. He struck out 10 and walked just two. Jesus Luzardo will try to get the A's in the win column today. Luzardo is 0-1 after one start. He went 5 innings vs the Astros, giving up eight hits and five runs in the loss. I'm going to take the Dodgers here today and lay the run and a half. Play LA -1 1/2 runs. |
10-24-20 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Rays | 7-8 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 3 m | Show
The Dodgers have been flexing their offensive muscles in this series. Mookie Betts is paying dividends in his first year as he continues to be Mr Everything for the Dodgers. LA can take a 3-1 lead in the series with a win tonight. The Rays offensive struggles continued again last night. They did break out in game two with a big night, but that has been far and few between for the Rays. The Dodgers pitching staff has been just as good if not better than the Rays. I don't see the Rays being able to keep these Dodgers bats down. I'm going to lay the Run Line here tonight with the Dodgers. |
09-25-20 | Astros -1.5 v. Rangers | 4-5 | Loss | -113 | 9 h 16 m | Show
Houston needs today's game to help them gain one of those Wild Card spots and this Texas team is standing in their way. Texas has made no bones about it, they will do their best to stop them here tonight. Didn't work out too well for them yesterday as the Astros destroyed the Rangers. I look for a duplicate of last night's contest as the Astros look to take control of that final Wild Card slot. Lay the 1.5 runs with the Astros. |
09-18-20 | Indians -1.5 v. Tigers | 1-0 | Loss | -135 | 8 h 42 m | Show
Cleveland has fallen back to six games behind AL Central leader White Sox. The Indians beat Detroit soundly yesterday, but it was only their second win in their last 10 games. The Tigers are 11 1/2 games back in the Central division and have lost two straight games and seven of their last 10. Zach Plesac starts for the Tribe with a 3-2 record and 2.20 ERA. Plesac has had an excellent season though he is coming off his worst start, allowing five runs over seven innings to the Twins. Michael Fulmer starts for the Tigers with an 0-2 record and 9.27 ERA and 2.149 WHIP. Fulmer has allowed nine runs over his last 5 innings. Big difference in starters here tonight. I'm going to lay the RUN LINE with the visitors in this one. Play Cleveland -1.5 runs. |
08-31-20 | Braves -1.5 v. Red Sox | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 14 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves are in 1st place in the NL East with a 19-14 record. The Braves have won six of their last 10 and are the only team in the East with a positive run differential. The Red Sox are in last in the AL East with a 12-22 record. They have won two straight though. They will have contend with one of the best pitchers in baseball this year. Max Fried starts for the Braves and he's having a great season. Fried is 5-0 in his seven starts with a 1.35 ERA and 0.950 WHIP. Fried has allowed just four runs over his last six starts! The Sox will start Colten Brewer. Brewer has three starts and is 0-2 with a 5.22 ERA. Big edge in both quality of team and starters here today goes to the Braves. I'll lay the run line with the Braves. Take Atlanta -1.5 Runs. |
08-30-20 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Rangers | Top | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 40 m | Show |
The LA Dodgers rebounded from their loss to the Rangers on Friday with a win on Saturday to improve to 25-10 on the season and the most wins in baseball. The Dodgers have been very good away from home with a 14-5 record on the season. LA starts Tony Gonsolin today. Gonsolin has no record in his three starts but has just one start in his three outings. He hasn't allowed a run yet with 14 2/3 innings of wok and no runs with 12 KO's and just two walks. The Rangers are third in the AL West with a 12-20 record and have lost eight of their last 10 games. Kyle Gibson starts today with a 1-3 record in his six starts. Gibson has a 5.73 ERA and 1.485 WHIP this season. He's been bad lately, allowing 12 runs over his las 11 1/3 innings. Dodgers hard to go against, but also hard to lay the big prices. So I'm going to lay the Run Line here with LA on Sunday. Take Dodgers -1.5 Runs. |
08-25-20 | Twins v. Indians -1.5 | 2-4 | Win | 125 | 2 h 55 m | Show
Important series here for both teams as the top two teams in the AL Central face off. Minnesota leads the division over Cleveland by two games. Both teams have been on good runs, winning seven of their last 10 games. The Twins will start Rich Hill today. Hill is 1-1 in his two starts with a 4.69 ERA. The Indians will start Shane Bieber who is a leading candidate for a Cy Young at this point. Bieber is 5-0 in his six starts with a 1.11 ERA and 0.762 WHIP. I like the Indians here in this game but will also lay the Run Line with them. Play Cleveland -1.5 Runs. |
08-21-20 | Tigers v. Indians -1.5 | Top | 10-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 53 m | Show |
I've been a big fan of the Indians since the start, they have arguably the best pitching in baseball. The Indians are a half game back of the Twins for the AL Central lead and have allowed just 66 runs this season (best in majors). That has translated to six straight wins and eight wins in the last 10 games. They face the Tigers here today who are in last place in the Central. The Tigers are just 9-14 and have lost nine straight game. Michael Fulmer starts for the Tigers with a 7.55 ERA in his three starts. The Tribe will start Adam Plutko who is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA in his three starts. Plutko might not be their best, but against this Tigers team I have no problem laying the Run Line. Take Indians -1.5 Runs. |
08-19-20 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Mariners | 4-6 | Loss | -153 | 21 h 47 m | Show
Dodgers have the best record in baseball with 18-7. That was pretty much expected of this team with the offseason addition of Mookie Betts in the leadoff spot. LA has won seven straight games and eight of the last 10. The Seattle Mariners are in last in the AL West with a 7-18 record. They have lost seven straight games and eight of the last 10. Jim won with the Dodgers on the Run line over the Mariners in game one of this series and he's doing it again here today. Play Dodgers -1.5 runs. |
08-19-20 | Indians -1.5 v. Pirates | 6-1 | Win | 100 | 18 h 12 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians continue to have a nice season going as they won their third game in a row on Tuesday evening and their seventh of the last 10. What has been the strength of this team is their pitching. They have allowed a MLB best 62 runs. The Tribe will start Aaron Civale today. Civaleis 2-2 in his four starts with a 3.60 ERA and 1.120 WHIP. Civale has 26 KO's and just three walks this season. The Pirates are the worst team in baseball with just four wins and 14 losses. They have lost eight of their last 10 games. Steven Brault will start today. Brault comes out of the pen where he has gone seven innings and not allowed a run. Still, I like the Indians here and will be more than willing to lay the Run line with them. Play Cleveland -1.5 runs. |
08-17-20 | Mariners v. Dodgers -1.5 | 9-11 | Win | 100 | 9 h 25 m | Show
Dodgers are in 1st place in the NL West with a 16-7 record and tied for most wins in baseball. They have won five straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Mariners are in last in the AL West with a 7-16 record and have lost five straight and eight of their last 10. Seattle starts Justin Dunn who is 1-1 on the season with a 4.85 ERA and 1.615 WHIP. Dunn has pitched well but walks too many with 10 free passes and just 10 KO's on the season. Ross Stripling starts for the Dodgers. Stripling is 3-1 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.147 WHIP. Dodgers just playing too well right now and Stripling has had a lot of success. Take the Dodgers on the Run Line. LA Dodgers -1.5 Runs. |
08-15-20 | Indians -1.5 v. Tigers | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 7 h 15 m | Show
Cleveland Indians have one of the better pitching staffs right now in baseball as they allow just 56 total runs over 20 games. They are coming off a win over the Tigers on Friday and have won six of their last 10. The Tigers are 9-8 in the AL Central and have lost three straight. Unlike the Indians, they have allowed 94 runs over 17 games (over 5 runs per game). The Indians start their hottest pitcher today in Shane Bieber. Bieber is a perfect 3-0 in his four starts with a 1.63 ERA and 0.759 ERA. Beiber has 42 KO's and just 5 walks on the season. Spencer Turnbull will toe the rubber for the Tigers. Turnbull has been very good with a 2-0 record in his three starts. Turnbull has a 2.00 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. His walks a bit high with seven free passes in 18 innings of work. I like Bieber and the Tribe a lot here today. I'll lay the 1 1/2 runs with Cleveland. |
08-09-20 | Rockies -1.5 v. Mariners | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 26 m | Show
Colorado Rockies are in 1st place in the NL West at 10-3. They have won two straight games and eight of their last 10. Today, the Rockies will start German Marquez. Marquez is 2-1 in his three starts with a nifty 1.89 ERA and 0.895 WHIP. Marquez has struck out 23 and walked just five thus far. The Seattle Mariners are last in the AL West with a 5-10 record. They have lost two straight to the Rockies and six of their overall last 10 games. Justus Sheffield will start today looking for his first win after two starts. Sheffield has a lofty 9.39 ERA and 1.695 WHIP. Big edge all around here to the Rocks. I'm going to lay the Run Line with Colorado in what looks to be a blowout win. Play Colorado -1.5 Runs. |
08-06-20 | Cubs -1.5 v. Royals | 2-13 | Loss | -107 | 9 h 54 m | Show
Cubs are off to a great start tied for the best record in baseball at 10-2. They have won six straight and nine of 10 games. They have a +18 run differential and start a very good pitcher today in Tyler Chatwood. Chatwood is 2-0 in his two starts with a great 0.71 ERA and 0.789 WHIP. He's allowed just one run over his 12 2/3 innings of work. The Royals started the season with some nice wins, but since then it's been all downhill. The Royals are 3-10 and have lost six straight and eight of the last 10. They will turn to first time starter Brad Keller today. For me, I like the Cubs and how they are playing, especially with Chatwood. I'm going to lay the Run-Line here today with the Cubs. |
08-06-20 | Twins -1.5 v. Pirates | 5-6 | Loss | -123 | 3 h 21 m | Show
Twins are tied for the best record since the start of the season at 10-2. They have scored 63 runs and allowed just 30 runs for the 2nd best run differential in baseball. Kenta Maeda came over in the offseason from the Dodgers and he has already paid dividends. Maeda is 2-0 in his two starts with a 1.64 ERA and 0.636 WHIP. Maeda has looked great and today he faces a Pittsburgh team that is struggling. The Bucs are 2-10 and have the fewest wins in MLB so far. They have scored 39 runs and allowed 59 runs for a -20 run differential. The Bucs will be starting JT Brubaker who will be making his first start of the season. I know what I have with the Twins and Maeda. I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs here with the Twins. |
08-04-20 | Giants v. Rockies -1.5 | 2-5 | Win | 112 | 9 h 17 m | Show
What do you know, early in this MLB season the Rockies find themselves sitting atop the NL West with a 7-2 record. They have won three straight games and have scored 50 runs and allowed just 20 runs. It's crowded right now atop the division with both San Diego and the Dodgers also having seven wins, though each of those teams have at least four losses. The Giants are 5-6 and fourth in the division, losing two straight games. The Giants pitching has been hit hard, allowing 66 runs over 11 games, that's 6.0 runs per game allowed. That is also worst in the NL. Giants start Kevin Gausman today who went just 4 1/3 innings in his first start against the Padres, allowing six hits and three runs. Rockies start German Marquez today who is 1-1 in his two starts with a 1.54 ERA. Marquez has allowed just two runs in his 11 2/3 innings with three walks and 14 KO's. I'm going to lay the 1 1/2 runs here with the Rockies in what I see as a blowout win. |
08-29-19 | A's -1.5 v. Royals | 9-8 | Loss | -145 | 2 h 16 m | Show
A's -1.5 Runs - The A's need to win these games over teams like the Royals, but fell short last night. The A's led the Royals on Wednesday 2-0 and 4-2 before losing 4-6 in the late innings. Today, they are a big favorite as Chris Bassitt is on the hill with a 9-5 record and 3.59 ERA. The Royals will counter with Glenn Sparkman who is 3-8 on the season with a 5.79 ERA. As much as I like Oakland today, I have to lay the 1 1/2 runs here with Bassitt. Play Oakland - 1 1/2 runs. |
06-18-19 | Astros -1.5 v. Reds | 3-4 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 6 m | Show
The Astros bring a two-game losing streak into tonight's contest while the Reds bring a two-game win streak. Houston lost to the Reds last night, 2-3 and on Sunday to Toronto, 0-12. Tonight they turn to Justin Verlander who is 9-2 in his 15 games this season. Verlander has 13 quality starts to go along with his 2.50 ERA and 0.735 WHIP. Verlander has allowed over three runs in a game just twice in his 14 starts and that was four runs. The Reds will send Anthony Desclafani to the hill. Desclafani is 3-3 in his 13 starts with just 3 quality starts. In addition, Desclafani has a 4.43 ERA and 1.323 WHIP. The Astros are too good to lose three straight, especially with their ACE on the mound tonight. I'm taking the Astros and laying 1.5 runs. Play Houston -1.5 runs. |
06-07-19 | Pirates v. Brewers -1.5 | 4-10 | Win | 100 | 20 h 11 m | Show
The Brewers snapped that two game losing streak to the Marlins with a nice comeback win on Thursday, 5-1. The Pirates beat the Braves on Thursday, 6-1 and have now won two-straight games and are just one game from the .500 mark. Rookie Davis makes his first start for the Pirates. Davis missed all of last year with a hip problem. The 6-foot-5, 255 lb Davis is a big presence on the mound. He'll need all that intimidation today. He will have to face the best pitcher so far this year for the Brewers in Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff is 7-1 in his 12 starts with a 3.82 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. Woodruff had a tough start last time out, allowing six runs over just four innings. However, prior to that he allowed five total runs in his previous five starts. Davis still has too many question marks to back here today. Instead, I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Brewers best in Woodruff. Play Milwaukee -1.5 Runs. |
06-05-19 | Yankees -1.5 v. Blue Jays | 7-11 | Loss | -128 | 9 h 21 m | Show
The Yankees look to snap a 2-game losing streak today against Toronto. The Yankees lost game one yesterday, 3-4. Today they send James Paxton to the hill. Paxton is 3-2 in his eight starts with a nifty 2.81 ERA and 1.128 WHIP. Paxton has been red-hot, allowing no earned runs in four of his last five starts (all team wins). The Blues Jays win on Tuesday snapped a six game losing streak as Toronto is now 22-38 and in dead last in the AL East. The Jays will send Trent Thornton to the hill today. Thornton is 1-4 in his 12 starts with a 4.52 ERA and 1.340 WHIP. Paxton has been so perfect of late that it's hard not to take him here today. But he's laying a big price, so I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs. Play New York -1.5 Runs. |
06-04-19 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Diamondbacks | 9-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 12 m | Show
While the other two NL divisions both have close races, the NL West is being dominated by the LA Dodgers. The Dodgers have opened up a 9 1/2 game lead in the West over the Rockies with the Diamondbacks now 12 games back. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball and have won six straight games. Hyun-Jin Ryu is having a Cy Young type of year for the Dodgers with a 8-1 record, 1.48 ERA and 0.808 WHIP. Ryu has been amazing this year, allowing no runs in four of his last five starts. The D'backs will counter today with Taylor Clarke. Clarke is 1-1 in his three starts with a 6.28 ERA and 1.535 WHIP. Hard to pass on Ryu here today against Clarke. But I'm going to have to lay the 1.5 runs. Take Los Angeles -1.5 Runs. |
06-03-19 | Angels v. Cubs -1.5 | Top | 1-8 | Win | 130 | 6 h 11 m | Show |
Very short schedule here on the Monday baseball slate with just four games. I'm going to look at this IL contest between the Angels and the Cubs. The Angels won on Sunday big, beating the Mariners 13-3. Meanwhile, the Cubs lost a tough one on the road to the Cardinals, 1-2. The Angels switched pitchers overnight from Cahill to Cam Bedrosian. Bedrosian is 0-1 in his four starts with a 4.50 ERA and 1.250 WHIP. The Angels pull a page from the Rays playbook today by starting a relief pitcher. Bedrosian won't go more than one inning and in his last two starts he's allowed a run in that inning. The Cubs will send Jon Lester to the hill. Lester is jsut 3-4 in his 10 starts, but has a 3.59 ERA and 1.386 WHIP. Lester got hit hard his last start, but I look for the veteran to rebound here today. Plus the Angels will lose their DH in this one. Take the Cubbies on the Run Line. |
05-29-19 | Blue Jays v. Rays -1.5 | 3-4 | Loss | -111 | 14 h 1 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays look to win their fourth game tonight after beating the Blue Jays on Tuesday, 3-1. Blake Snell will get the start tonight for the Rays. Snell is 3-4 in his 10 starts with a 3.07 ERA and 1.006 WHIP. Snell has been very good in recent starts, allowing two runs over his last two games and four runs over his last four games. Toronto dropped their second game in a row and fifth in their last six games. Trent Thornton will start tonight for the Blue Jays. Thornton is 1-4 in his 11 starts with a 4.42 ERA and 1.272 WHIP. Thornton is off a decent start, allowing three runs over six innings. The Rays continue to play exceptionally well and with Snell on the hill I look for another one sided win. I'm laying the 1.5 runs here with the Rays tonight. Play Tampa Bay -1.5 |
05-28-19 | Blue Jays v. Rays -1.5 | Top | 1-3 | Win | 115 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Rays improved to 32-19 with their win over the Blue Jays on Monday, 8-3. Meanwhile, the Jays dropped to 21-33 on the season. The Rays are expected to start Ryne Stanek today. Stanek has started 14 games this season and only twice has he allowed runs. Yes, he only goes one or two innings, but in doing so he's allowed the Rays to go 10-4 in his starts. Stanek allowed three runs back on May 1st to the Royals and since then he's goner 10 1/3 innings in his last six starts and allowed just one run. His ERA for the season sits at 1.64. The Jays will start Clayton Richard. Richard is a southpaw who sports a 2.25 ERA but only has one start this season. I like the Rays to continue winning in this spot where they start Stanek. Take the Rays and lay 1.5 runs. |
05-15-19 | Astros -1.5 v. Tigers | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 37 m | Show
The Astros domination of the Tigers continue here on Tuesday. Houston won the opener on Monday 8-1 and then again with last night's contest 11-4. That means Houston has outscored Detroit 19-5 in their two games thus far. Won't get any easier tonight for the Tigers as they face a very good vet in Justin Verlander. Verlander is 6-1 on the season with a nice 2.51 ERA and 0.820 WHIP. Verlander is coming off a seven inning performance at Texas where he allowed dno runs and one hit for the win. The Tigers will start Gregory Soto tonight. Soto has just one start this season and that didn't turn out well. Soto went just four innings at Minnesota, allowed nine hits and seven runs in the loss. I look for another total domination here tonight by the visitors. I'm going to lay the 1 1/5 runs with the Astros. Play Houston -1.5 runs. |
05-14-19 | Rockies v. Red Sox -1.5 | 5-4 | Loss | -112 | 8 h 1 m | Show
The Red Sox bring a five-game win streak into tonight's contest against the NL's Colorado Rockies. This is a short, 2-game series between these Interleague teams. The Red Sox will send Chris Sale to the hill. Sale looking to regain that form that he had last year, looks to be getting back into that groove. Sale is just 1-5 on the season, but his ERA has dropped to 4.50 and WHIP is 1.114. Sale has pitched very well his last four starts, allowing two runs or less in each start with a total of five walks and 42 KO's. The Rockies will counter with Kyle Freeland who is 2-5 on the year with a 5.84 ERA and 1.343 WHIP. Freeland has not pitched well of late, allowing 14 earned runs over his last three starts (17 innings). Sale is looking much like his old self and that means I'll be laying the runs here with the host tonight. Play Boston -1.5 Runs. |
05-06-19 | Marlins v. Cubs -1.5 | 6-5 | Loss | -118 | 8 h 53 m | Show
The Miami Marlins have one of the worst records in baseball with a 9-24 mark and bring a 3-game losing streak into today's game. The Marlins will turn to Sandy Alcantara today who is 1-3 overall in his six starts. Alcantara has a 4.86 ERA with a 1.560 WHIP and is coming off a 5 1/3 inning contest where he allowed six runs and seven hits. The Cubs have been red-hot, winners of seven straight games and now 19-12 on the season. The Cubs will start Cole Hamels who is 3-0 in his six starts this season. Hamels has a nice 3.19 ERA with a 1.091 WHIP. Hamels has allowed more than two earned runs just once since his opening start this season. I look for the hot Cubbies to dominate here today behind a solid Cole Hamels. I'm laying 1.5 runs with Chicago. |
05-05-19 | Astros -1.5 v. Angels | 10-4 | Win | 100 | 14 h 16 m | Show
Houston destroyed the Angels on Saturday, 14-2. The Astros improved to 19-14 on the season and snapped their 2-game losing streak. Justin Verlander starts today and is having another excellent season. Verlander is 4-1 in his seven starts with a 2.45 ERA and very good 0.864 WHIP. Verlander has been so consistent that he's allowed just one earned run in each of his last four starts (27 innings) with just five walks and 34 KO's. The Angels had their 4-game win streak snapped on Saturday, dropping them to 15-18. Matt Harvey toes the rubber today for the Halos. Harvey has a 1-2 record in his six starts with a lofty 6.54 ERA and 1.390 WHIP. Harvey not enjoying the kind of success he had in the NL with the Mets. The Angels will have a tough road today against one of the best pitchers in baseball. I'm laying the 1.5 runs with the Astros. |
05-01-19 | Rays -1.5 v. Royals | 2-8 | Loss | -121 | 6 h 23 m | Show
Tampa Bay has one of the best records in baseball at 19-9. The Rays are doing this with a very good pitching staff. In fact, of their six starters, Morton has the highest current ERA at 2.75. Today's starter will be Blake Snell, the AL Cy Young award winner for 2018. Snell is 2-2 on the season with a nice 2.54 ERA and 0.918 WHIP. Snell has pitched great since his opening start where he allowed five runs. Since that start, Snell has allowed four total runs in four starts (22 1/3 innings). Snell did go only 3 1/3 innings in his last start vs KC as he was battling a toe issue. However, that seems to be fine now and we should see Snell back to his normal self. The Royals have struggled to a 9-20 record and lost two straight and eight of their last 10 games. This is game 2 of the Wednesday doubleheader and the Royals will start Glenn Sparkman. Sparkman was called up to make a spot start here in game two. Sparkman has thrown 6 2/3 innings of relief for the Royals with a 8.10 ERA and 2.25 WHIP. Tall order for Sparkman here against the reigning Cy Young winner. Take Tampa Bay on the Run Line in game 2. |
05-01-19 | Rays -1.5 v. Royals | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 3 m | Show
Doubleheader here on Wednesday as this contest was rained out on Tuesday. This game one matchup has Ryan Stanek making his eighth start. Stanek is a hard throwing reliever that has been started this year to basically old opponents to 1 or 2 scoreless innings. And, he's done a pretty good job with a 0.00 ERA in his 10 2/3 innings of work with no runs, one walk and 12 KO's. Jake Junis will start game one after missing Tuesday's rainout game. Junis is 2-2 with a 5.57 ERA and 1.485 WHIP. Junis has a 6.75 ERA at home in three starts this season. I like the Rays here in game one with Stanek doing his usual and not allowing any runs early. Play Tampa Bay -1.5 runs (game 1). |
04-24-19 | Royals v. Rays -1.5 | 10-2 | Loss | -117 | 2 h 6 m | Show
Early start here today as the red-hot Rays host the Kansas City Royals. Good news for the Rays is the return of Blake Snell today. Snell had a broken toe but looks to return here today. Snell is the reigning Cy-Young winner and a fluke accident had him with an ailing toe. But he and the Rays are confident his toe won't affect his pitching performance. Tampa is 16-8 on the season and has won two straight games. They face a 7-17 KC squad that now has lost five straight. The Royals will start Jake Junis who is 1-2 on the season. Junis has a 6.26 ERA and 1.537 WHIP. No brainer for me in this one. Snell is the best and if he's pitching he's healthy. Don't expect the struggling Royals to get much if anything here. I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Rays. |
04-23-19 | Royals v. Rays -1.5 | 2-5 | Win | 110 | 6 h 10 m | Show
Tampa Bay snapped it's short 4-game losing streak with a win on Monday over Kansas City, 6-3. Ryan Stanek starts today in their unique relief/starter package. Stanek will only go one or two innings, but he's been brilliant in this mode. Stanek has started five games, gone eight innings and allowed just two hits and no runs. He's also walked just one batter and struck out 11. The Royals have lost four straight and dropped to 7-16 on the season. Homer Bailey will get the start today for the Royals. Bailey has pitched well with a 2-1 record, 4.30 ERA and 1.087 WHIP. After a pair of shaky starts, Bailey has put together two nice starts where he's allowed just one run over 13 innings. Still, the Rays are playing great, especially in this role where they start a relief pitcher like Stanek. I'm going to lay the 1.5-runs here today with the Rays. Take Tampa Bay -1.5 Runs. |
09-23-18 | Rays -1.5 v. Blue Jays | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 7 m | Show
Every time Blake Snell takes to the hill from here on out you can expect extra effort on the part of the Rays. Snell won his 20th game last time out and is a top contender for the AL Cy Young award. Snell has been amazing, allowing just four runs over his last four starts (24 innings) and not allowing one run or less in 12 of his last 14 starts. The Blue Jays will counter with Ryan Borucki, who is 4-4 on the season with a 3.86 ERA. Borucki has been very good of late, allowing two runs or less in three straight starts. However, the Jays have won just one of those three in support. I'm sticking with Snell here today as I lay the -1.5 runs. Take Tampa Bay -1.5 runs. |
09-18-18 | Rays -1.5 v. Rangers | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 21 h 38 m | Show |
Tampa Bay continues to impress with their second half play, winning three straight after Monday's shutout win over the Rangers 3-0. That's 12 wins in their last 15 games. Tonight they get their Ace on the hill in the person of Blake Snell. Snell is 19-5 this and that makes tonight's start all the more important as he goes for Number 20! Snell has not allowed two runs or less now in 12 of his last 13 starts. Have to believe that Snell will be one of the leading candidates for AL Cy Young this year. The Rangers have lost two straight and eight of their last 11 games. Yovani Gallardo starts tonight for the Rangers with a 8-5 record and 5.94 ERA. Gallardo has allowed 11 runs over his last 7 1/3 innings with six walks. I don't see much of a chance for the Rangers here tonight, especially with the Rays and Snell looking for that big 20th win for their ace. Take the Rays and lay the 1.5 runs |
09-07-18 | Orioles v. Rays -1.5 | 2-14 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
Tampa Bay finally has seen a few losses here of late after Thursday's setback at Toronto, 3-10. Still, the Rays are hot, winning 13 of their last 16 games. Tonight they get their Ace on the hill in Blake Snell. Snell is 17-5 this year with a outstanding 2.02 ERA. Snell has been amazing of late too, allowing one or no runs in 10 of his last 11 starts. The Orioles have lost four of their last five games. Dylan Bundy gets the start tonight with a 7-13 record and 5.36 ERA. Bundy had a rough stretch recently, allowing 21 runs over 14 1/3 innings of work. His last start was better, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings to the Royals. Still, the Rays with their ACE is too good to pass on. I'm laying the -1.5 runs here tonight with Tampa Bay. |
08-31-18 | Reds v. Cardinals -1.5 | 5-12 | Win | 100 | 8 h 22 m | Show
The Cardinals are 4.5 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central but are leading in the NL Wildcard race. The Cardinals start Austin Gomber tonight with a 3-0 record in his six starts and a 2.51 ERA. Gomber has been excellent since starting at the end of July, allowing two runs or less in five of his six starts. Meanwhile, the Reds have lost two straight and seven of the last eight. Homer Bailey starts tonight with a 1-12 record and 6.17 ERA. To say it's been a rough year for Bailey is an understatement. Bailey has pitched better of late, still, the Reds haven't won one of his starts since May. I'm laying the 1.5 runs here with the Cardinals. |
08-28-18 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Rangers | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 45 m | Show
The Dodgers bring a three-game winning streak into tonight's game. The NL West race has really tightened up. The Dodgers are two back of Arizona while Colorado is one game back. The Dodgers will start Walker Buehler tonight. Buehler is 6-3 this season with a 2.51 ERA. Buehler has been really good of late, allowing just one run over his last three starts (20 innings) and four runs over his last five starts (32.1 innings). The Rangers lost two of their at San Francisco. They will start Ariel Jurado tonight. Jurado is 2-3 with a 6.40 ERA. Jurado has allowed 16 runs over his last three starts (16 2/3 innings). The Dodgers are one of the biggest home run teams in baseball and that should be evident tonight against this pitcher. Take LA and lay the run and a half. |
08-24-18 | Braves -1.5 v. Marlins | 0-1 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 39 m | Show
The Braves have opened up a three-game lead in the NL East over the Philadelphia Phillies thanks in part to a four-game win streak. They look to extend that to five today with All-Star Mike Foltynewicz on the hill. Foltynewicz is 10-7 on the season with a 2.72 ERA. Foltynewicz has looked every bit the All-Star lately, allowing just two earned runs over his last three starts (20 2/3 innings). Meanwhile, Miami has lost 15 of its last 20 games. The Marlins will start Daniel Staily today with a 4-6 record and 4.60 ERA. Straily got hit pretty hard last time out, allowing five runs over six innings in a 2-8 loss to the Nationals. Braves can really put some distance in this race with wins over poor teams like the Marlins. I'm laying the runs line here with the Braves. |
08-19-18 | Diamondbacks -1.5 v. Padres | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -120 | 6 h 60 m | Show |
The Diamondbacks lost to the Padres in extra innings on Saturday night and with it they lost a game to the Rockies, who now trail them by 1/2 game. The Dodgers lost so they are still two games back. That makes today's game against the lowly Padres even more important. Zack Greinke will start for Arizona with a 12-8 record and 3.00 ERA. Greinke had been great until his last start where he gave up four runs over 6 2/3 innings. Before that he allowed two runs or less in nine straight starts. The Padres snapped a five game losing streak with their Saturday win. They will start Brett Kennedy today, who is 0-2 in his two starts with an 11.00 ERA. Kennedy has allowed 11 runs over nine innings of work with 20 hits and just five KO's. This should be an easy win today for the D'backs who will cover the 1.5 runs. Play Arizona on the run line. |
08-14-18 | Indians -1.5 v. Reds | 8-1 | Win | 100 | 7 h 38 m | Show
The Indians have won three straight, including last night's opener with their instate rivals, Cincinnati, 10-3. Today the Tribe will send Ace Corey Kluber to the hill, with a 14-6 record and 2.74 ERA and 0.919 WHIP. Kluber has hit a couple of rough starts, but for the most part he's been very good with 19 quality starts out of 24. The Reds will turn to Sal Romano today. Romano is 7-9 with a 4.96 ERA and 1.396 WHIP. The line is way too high to play Cleveland straight, but I'm laying the 1.5 runs with the Indians today. Play Cleveland -1.5 runs. |
08-13-18 | Indians -1.5 v. Reds | Top | 10-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 5 m | Show |
While this game has no meaning in the standings to the Reds, they do have some bragging rights on line with their intrastate rivals from Cleveland. The Indians have won two straight and four of the last five. Today they send Mike Clevinger to the hill. Clevinget is 7-7 with a 3.37 ERA. Clevinger has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last four starts. That after a rough couple of starts where he allowed nine runs over 12 innings. The Reds will send Homer Bailey to the mound today. Bailey is having a year to forget, with a 1-9 record, 6.19 ERA and 1.587 WHIP. Bailey is coming off just a 3 1/3 inning performance where he allowed 11 hits and five runs to the Mets. The Indians have won 12 of the last 17 meeting with the Reds and five of the last six in Cincinnati. In addition, Bailey is just 1-4 in his last five starts vs the Indians. Play the Indians here minus 1.5 runs. |
07-27-18 | Diamondbacks -1.5 v. Padres | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 37 m | Show
Arizona is nipping on the heal of the Dodgers for first place in the NL West. Losing two straight games didn't help as they split their four game series with the Cubs. Today they start their set with the Padres and send Zach Greinke to the hill. Greinke is now 11-5 after winning six of his last seven decisions. Grienke has been hot, allowing just five total runs over his last six starts with just five walks and 42 KO's. The last place Padres are the only team in the West that doesn't have at least a .500 record. They will send Luis Perdomo to the hill. Perdomo is just 1-5 in his eight starts with a lofty 6.99 ERA. Big mismatch here in pitching and that's why I'm laying the -1.5 runs the D'backs. |
07-27-18 | Rangers v. Astros -1.5 | 11-2 | Loss | -135 | 9 h 37 m | Show
The Texas Rangers just lost four straight to the A's, losing two of those games when leading going into the 9th inning. They have to feel snake bit by the Oakland Magic and now have to travel to intrastate rival Houston. The Astros are just cruising in the AL West with a 67-37 record. Is it possible this Houston team is better than the World Series Champions of last year? Sure is. Dallas Keuchel is only 8-8 on the season but has really come around lately. Keuchel has allowed just three runs over his last four starts (27 2/3 innings). Keuchel has been great with 18 KO's. The Rangers will start Yovani Gallardo who is 4-1 in his limited six starts. Even with that record, Gallardo has just a 5.56 ERA. The Astros should have little trouble with their rivals here tonight and I'll lay the -1.5 runs with the Astros. |
07-20-18 | Indians -1.5 v. Rangers | 9-8 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 58 m | Show
The Rangers open the 2nd half of the season at home after a 10-game road trip to finish the first half of the season. Texas was just 3-7 to finish that road stint. Martin Perez looks to get the Rangers back on the winning note today. Perez is just 2-4 with a 7.67 ERA and a lofty 2.046 WHIP. Perez has just two quality starts in his six outings and some really bad ones to go along with those two. Cleveland has little competition in a very week AL Central. The Indians are the only team with a winning record (52-43). Today they send Trevor Bauer to the hill. Bauer is 8-6 with a 2.31 ERA in his 20 starts. Bauer has been very good of late, allowing two runs or less in his last six starts. The Indians have a big advantage on the hill today and I look for a lopsided win. Lay the run line with the Indians |
06-16-18 | Nationals -1.5 v. Blue Jays | 0-2 | Loss | -125 | 4 h 9 m | Show
Washington lost the opener of this three game series last night to the Jays, 5-6. The Nationals dropped to 37-29 on the season. They will send their ace, Matt Scherzer to the hill today. Scherzer is an early candidate for the NL Cy Young award with his 10-2 record, 2.00 ERA and 0.845 WHIP. Scherzer has allowed over two runs just two times in his 14 starts. Toronto improved to 31-38 with their win last night. The Jays start Marco Estrada today. Estrada is 3-6 with a 5.09 ERA this season. Big mismatch here in pitching matchup. I'd be surprised if the Jays even score in this one. Lay the 1.5 runs with the Nationals. |
06-10-18 | Yankees -1.5 v. Mets | 0-2 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 32 m | Show
The Yankees have won four straight games including both games here against their rivals, the Mets. The Yankees won game one 4-1 and took last nights game, 4-3. The Mets continue their anemic hitting ways and it won't get any easier today. The Yankees will start Luis Servino. Servino is 9-1 in his 13 starts with a 2.20 ERA and 0.930 WHIP. Servino has allowed over two runs just one time in his last seven starts and that was just three runs. The Mets losing streak is now eight games. The will look to Seth Lugo today. Lugo only has one start and went four innings, allowed no runs and three hits. Not sure how the Mets will score here tonight. Yankees won't have that problem, I'm laying the run line with the Yankees. |
05-31-18 | Rangers v. Mariners -1.5 | 1-6 | Win | 145 | 11 h 18 m | Show
After taking game one vs the Rangers, the Mariners have lost two straight to Texas. This has put a damper on their 9-3 streak the last 12 games. Still, the M's have improved to 33-22 on the season. They turn to Wade LeBlanc today. LeBlanc has no record in his five starts, but has a very good 1.71 ERA and 0.949 WHIP. In fact, LeBlanc has not allowed over two runs in any of his five starts this season. Mike Minor will start for the Rangers. Minor is 4-3 in his 10 starts with a 5.63 ERA and 1325 WHIP. Unlike LeBlanc, Minor has now allowed under three runs in any of is last five starts. I like the Mariners to rebound here tonight and I'm laying the 1.5 runs with them. Play Seattle -1.5 runs. |
05-31-18 | Angels -1.5 v. Tigers | 2-6 | Loss | -125 | 2 h 18 m | Show
The LA Angels dropped to 30-26 after they dropped two of their last three to the Tigers. The Angles will try and even this series today with Andrew Heaney on the hill. Heaney is 2-3 in his eight starts with a 3.09 ERA and 1.200 WHIP. Heaney has pitched very well of late, allowing jut two earned runs over his last three starts (20 1/3 innings). The Tigers will start Ryan Carpenter. Carpenter is 0-1 in his two starts with a 9.00 ERA and 1.750 WHIP. Carpenter has lasted on eight total innings in his two starts and has allowed eight runs. I like the Angels here against a shaky starter, in fact I will lay the 1.5 runs with LA. Play LA on the run line. |
05-30-18 | Rangers v. Mariners -1.5 | 7-6 | Loss | -125 | 12 h 40 m | Show
The Mariners look to extend their winning streak to six games here tonight. The M's have taken the first two in this series with the Rangers. They send James Paxton to the hill. Paxton is 4-1 in his 11 starts with a 3.10 ERA and 0.962 WHIP. Since Paxton threw his no hitter he's allowed six runs over 22 innings with just one walk and 23 KO's. The Rangers send Matt Moore to the hill. Moore is 1-5 in his nine starts with a lofty 8.19 ERA and 2.041 WHIP. Not much debate here that the Mariners have the better pitcher on the hill by far. I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs with Seattle. |
05-30-18 | Nationals -1.5 v. Orioles | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 9 h 34 m | Show
Washington has run their win streak to five now with two straight wins over their rivals from Baltimore. The Nationals can sweep this series today with Max Scherzer on the hill. Scherzer is 8-1 in his 11 starts with a 2.14 ERA and 0.907 WHIP. Scherzer is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing four runs over six innings. Baltimore dropped to 17-38 with their loss on Tuesday. The O's will send David Hess to the hill. Hess is 2-1 in his three starts with a 4.15 ERA and 1.326 WHIP. I don't expect two mediocre starts from Scherzer and the Nats are just too good for the O's. Lay the 1.5 runs here with Washington. |
05-19-18 | Yankees -1.5 v. Royals | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 4 m | Show
The Yankees have been one of the hottest teams in baseball until a rare loss last night at KC, 2-5. The loss was just their third in their last 13 games. The Yankees look to rebound today with Luis Servino. Servino is 6-1 on the season in his nine starts. Servino has seven quality starts with a 2.14 ERA and 0.890 WHIP. The Royals win was just their first in the last six games. The Royals look for another tonight with Danny Duffy. Duffy is 1-5 in his nine starts with a 6.51 ERA and 1.660 WHIP. Big difference in starters here today, plus the Yankees are the much better team. I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Yankees tonight. Play Nyy -1.5 |
05-18-18 | Yankees -1.5 v. Royals | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
The Yankees have won two straight games to improve to 28-12 on the season. The Yankees took two of three from the A's and have won 10 of their last 12. CC Sabathia has been excellent for NY, with a 2-0 record, 2.23 ERA and 1.018 WHIP. Sabathia had his worst outing of the season last time out, allowing four runs in four innings to the Red Sox. Kansas City just can't seem to get on track, losing five straight and dropping to 13-30 on the season. Jake Junis will toe the rubber for the Royals today with a 4-3 record. Junis has a 3.53 ERA and 1.039 WHIP this season. Junis allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings in his last start at Cleveland. Yankees just too good right now and Sabathia pitching great. I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs here with the Bronx Bombers. |
05-13-18 | Mariners -1.5 v. Tigers | 4-5 | Loss | -130 | 1 h 30 m | Show
Seattle's James Paxton makes his first start since his no-hitter on May 8 against Toronto. Paxton became the first ever Canadian to throw a no hitter in Canada. Paxton has been very good all season, but on his no run streak he's gone 16 innings without allowing a run. Detroit will have its hands full with Paxton today as the Tigers are just 16-22 on the season. The Tigers will also start Blaine Hardy today. Hardy makes the first start of his career after pitching out of the bullpen. Still, I don't see the Tigers doing much of anything against a very hot Paxton. I'm going to lay the run and a half here today with Seattle. Play Seattle -1.5 runs. |
05-09-18 | Astros -1.5 v. A's | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 38 m | Show
The Houston Astros have beaten the A's two straight games after Tuesday's win, 4-2. The Astros have now outscored Oakland, 20-4 in the series. Gerrit Cole gets the start today for the Astros. Cole has a 3-1 record in his seven starts with a nice 1.42 ERA and outstanding 0.691 WHIP. Cole has had seven quality starts, allowing more than two runs just once (3). Cole also has 28 KO's in his last two games against just one walk. Oakland's offense won't get a break tonight against Cole. They have scored just eight runs in the last four games and have scored over three runs just one time in their last eight games. I'm laying the 1.5 runs tonight with Houston and maybe the best pitcher in baseball right now. Play Houston -1.5 runs. |
05-04-18 | Indians v. Yankees -1.5 | 6-7 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 49 m | Show
The NY Yankees look to extend their three game win streak tonight against the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees improved to 21-10 by winning three of their last four over the Houston Astros. CC Sabathia starts today and he's been excellent this season with a 2-0 record in five starts, 1.17 ERA and 0.949 WHIP. Sabathia has allowed just two earned runs over his last 13 innings . The Indians beat the Blue Jays on Thursday 13-4 and improving to 17-14 on the season. The Tribe has not won two games in a row since April 22/23. They will turn to Josh Tomlin today who is 0-3 in his four starts with a very bad 9.68 ERA and 1.811 WHIP. Tomlin has only gone past five innings once in his four outings. Sabathia pitching very well and the Yankees are tough at home. I'm laying 1.5 runs here with New York. |
04-27-18 | Mets -1.5 v. Padres | 5-1 | Win | 106 | 9 h 47 m | Show
The Mets look to snap a two game losing streak as they start a new series tonight at San Diego. The Mets are still doing very well at 15-8 on the season. The will start Jacob DeGrom who is 2-0 on the season with a nifty 2.53 ERA and 1.031 WHIP. DeGrom is coming off his best start of the season where he went seven innings, allowed four hits and no earned runs. DeGrom has also struck out 22 over his last 14 1/3 innings with just three walks. The Padres are 9-17 on the season and have also lost two straight games. Clayton Richard will start tonight with a 1-2 record in his five starts with a 5.67 ERA and 1.630 WHIP. Richard has yet to go past five innings of work and therefore expect the bullpen to play a big role for the Padres. The Padres could also be without their top offseason acquisition in 1B Eric Hosmer, who is questionable for tonight's contest. The Mets are by far the better team and DeGrom has been solid. I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs here with the Mets tonight. |
04-22-18 | Astros -1.5 v. White Sox | 7-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 50 m | Show
After a lull where the Astros struggled to score some runs, they seem to be back to their winning ways. Houston has won five straight games and is now 15-7 on the season. The Astros pitching has been great, allowing two runs or less in each of their last six games. In fact, they have outscored the White Sox 20-1 the last two games. Lance McCullers is 2-1 and will start today for the Astros. McCullers has a 5.57 ERA and 1.429 WHIP. He is coming off his best start of the season, allowing just one run and one hit over seven innings to the Mariners. Meanwhile, it's been a terrible start for the White Sox who are 4-13 and lost six straight games. Reynaldo Lopez starts today for the Sox and is 0-2 with a 1.42 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Lopez has pitched well, going at least six innings in each of his three starts and allowing two runs or less. Unfortunately, Lopez has received just three total runs of support. I'm going to lay the 1.5 runs here today with the Astros who should roll again on Sunday. |
04-21-18 | Indians -1.5 v. Orioles | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 6 h 2 m | Show
Cleveland Indians look to snap a two game losing streak tonight at a reeling Baltimore. The Indians haven't scored well, but they aren't giving up much either. Cleveland averages just 3.4 rpg while allowing just 3.0 rpg. Baltimore did win last game, but they are still just 6-14 on the season. This is in thanks to a terrible pitching staff that has allowed an average of 5.5 runs per game. Mike Clevinger starts today for the Tribe. Clevinger is 1-0 in his three starts with a 2.70 ERA and 1.381 WHIP. Chris Tillman looks for his first win for the O's in four starts. Tillman has allowed 15 runs in just 11 2/3 innings this year. Tillman has a 11.92 ERA with a 2.824 WHIP. I'm going to lay the run line here today with the Indians as I go against Tillman who has been horrible. The O's are not supporting their pitchers either, so don't expect them to get much here tonight. Play Cleveland -1.5 runs. |
04-13-18 | Rangers v. Astros -1.5 | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -118 | 9 h 43 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers hope they wake up from the nightmare that is currently the 2018 season. The Rangers are last in the AL West with a 4-10 record and have lost four straight and seven of the last 10. They have allowed 77 runs (worst in AL and 2nd worst in MLB). Now they have lost shorstop Elvis Andrus with a broken right elbow who will be out six to eight weeks. The pitching staff is horrible, 27th in ERA (4.94), 30th in WHIP (1.54) and 30th in BAA (.285). The Astros are 9-4 and have dropped to 2nd in the AL West, 1.5 games back of the Angels. Cole Hamels will make his fourth start, posting a 1-2 record with a 1.63 WHIP and 5.06 ERA. Gerrit Cole will toe the rubber for the Astros. Cole has been excellent in his two starts, going 7 innings in each start, allowing just one earned run and seven hits. Cole is 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA and 0.71 WHIP. SO much difference in these teams here tonight. Astros should have very little issue with their instate rivals. Lay the 1.5 runs with the Astros. |
04-10-18 | Mets -1.5 v. Marlins | 8-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 46 m | Show
The New York Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball, out to an 8-1 start on the season - they've also won six straight games and they are perfect 4-0 on the road. They just recently swept a very good Washington Nationals team, 4-0. Now, they take on the last-place Miami Marlins, who are 3-7 on the season. The Mets will start Jacob deGrom. deGrom is 2-0 with a 1.54 era and a 1.03 whip. In his 2 starts, deGrom has allowed just eight total hits over 11 and 2/3 Innings and two earned runs. The Marlins will counter with Caleb Smith. Smith has two starts and he's coming off of a loss at Philadelphia where he went just three innings, allowing three runs and walking six. In fact walks have been tough on Smith this year as he's allowed nine free passes. The Mets are 9-3 in deGrom's last 12 Road starts. I like the red hot Mets here minus the run and a half over the Miami Marlins. |

04-09-18 | Astros -1.5 v. Twins | 2-0 | Win | 105 | 5 h 51 m | Show
A couple of first-place division teams match up here on Monday as the Central leading Minnesota Twins face the West leading Houston Astros. The Twins are 4-3 to start the season while the Houston Astros are a nice 8-2. World Series MVP Justin Verlander makes his third start of the season today. Verlander is 1-0 on the season with a 2.31 era and a 1.11 WHIP. In addition Verlander has struck out 14 and walked just three on the season. Lance Lynn will make the start tonight for the Twins, Lynn has just one start this season for the Twins and that was jus four Innings where he allowed five runs, walked 6 batters and struck out just three. Lynn had lots of control problems in his first outing and that resulted in a 2.25 WHIP and 11.25 ERA. The Astros looked to be one of the best teams again this year in the major leagues and tonight I'm going to take Verlander minus the run and a half over the Twins. |

04-03-18 | Orioles v. Astros -1.5 | Top | 6-10 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
Houston -1.5 Runs. The Houston Astros are already out to a good season at 4-1 winning three straight games. After losing their second game of the season to the Rangers the Astros have won three straight scoring 23 runs and allowing just six. World Series MVP Justin Verlander makes his second start of the season. Verlander went six innings in his opening start, allowing four hits and no earned runs for the win. Baltimore counters with righthander Mike Wright. Wright has a career 5.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 21 starts and 43 games. This will be Wright's first start of the season. I don't see the O's getting much here today against Verlander, who looks like he's already in the same form we saw from him last year. I'l lay the run and a half with the Astros. |

04-02-18 | Orioles v. Astros -1.5 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 48 m | Show
Astros -1.5 Runs. I am not confident that i will see much from Tillman here vs the Astro's. He did not show very well in spring training and i dont see him holding up well vs the Astro's Big bats in their first home game off becoming THE CHAMPS last year. Should be an emotional envirorment tonight. Morton is not one of the top Astro's hurlers but he should show well for 4 or five innings and the bullpen will be glad to shut down the O's. Take Houston -1.5 runs. |

03-30-18 | Cubs v. Marlins +1.5 | 1-2 | Win | 120 | 2 h 6 m | Show
Cubs -1.5 Runs : Cubs took the season opener over the Marlins on Thursday, 8-4. Anthony Rizzo and Ian Happ both homered in the win. Jon Lester struggled, but got plenty of support from the powerful Cubs lineup. The Cubs lineup is loaded this season and they showed it on Thursday. The bullpen also looked good in relief of a struggling Lester. Miami saw the loss of Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees and that's a lot of power gone from the lineup. Stanton made his new team happy on Thursday with a home run for the Yankees. Kyle Hendricks will face Caleb Smith. Hendricks looked very good in spring with a 2.37 ERA and 23 KO's. Smith has just two career starts and 18.2 innings in the big leagues with a 7.71 ERA. I'm going to lay the run and half here with a very strong Cubs team against a Miami team in rebuild mode. |

10-03-17 | Twins v. Yankees -1.5 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 27 h 35 m | Show
The Yankees had to settle for a Wild Card spot after falling two games short of the Red Sox for the AL East title. The Yankees finished with the best run differential in the AL at +198, a full 81 runs better than the Sox. Luis Severino has earned the right to start this Wild Card game. Severino had an excellent season, posting a stellar 14-6 record with a 2.98 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Twins were an unlikely participant this year in the postseason. The Twins finished 2nd, 17 games back of 1st place Cleveland. Ervin Santana will try and shock the Yankees here tonight. Santana was 16-8 this season with a 3.28 ERA and 1.13 ERA. The Twins are 0-5 in their last five road playoff games. The Yanks are 13-3 in their last 16 at home and today I'll lay the 1.5 runs with the Yankees |
