DMack's Wednesday Under-The-Radar Ice Pick is on the Buffalo Sabres If you just assumed that Buffalo would be a doormat like it's been the better part of the last decade you would be sadly mistaken and down a lot of money. The Sabres has spent well and drafted well and looked to have finally turned the corner. Good goaltending and some young snipers have this team a threat at home and on the road ... 13-6-2 at the quarter pole and looking for more.

DMack's Wednesday NHL Ice Pick is on the Vegas Golden Knights VGK has had a reality check after its dream season of last year but is looking to overcome adversity this year with a plethora of injuries, lack of chemistry, and front-loaded road schedule. Mack Attack NHL Game of the Week is on the Washington Capitals The rematch of last year's Stanley Cup final is very different than the games we saw in June. VGK is just 1-2 out of the gate and very fortunate to not be 0-3. The Knights are not scoring and it's hard to imagine them hanging with an offensive juggernaut like the Caps who have scored 13 goals in two games and have had almost a week off. Fleury is questionable for this game and has not been sharp regardless. Given the eye test of the first week of the season, actually see some line value with the Caps who in my mind should at least be 75 cents. Take Washington.

Now everyone expects a regression and they are in for a big surprise as the Knights have made several excellent off season moves and are better than last year. They've never lost four straight and the two times they've lost three straight were early in the year with a fourth string goaltender. Washington has clearly played better in the series but the Knights have been unlucky as well shooting the puck. The Knights have been resilient and have outworked the opposition their entire inaugural season. Tough spot but just can't see Knights laying down and allowing Caps to celebrate on Vegas home ice. Vegas 4-2.

Vegas couldn't have picked a worse time to throw in three clunkers in a row and are yet to play "their" game in this series. Bad penalties, costly mistakes, and a hungry Caps outfit has had VGK out of kilter and looking like they are skating in mud. Vegas must get scoring from their silent top line and Fleury must continue to stand on his head. Caps just .500 at home during the playoffs and ripe to be picked. VGK shows resilience one final time and gets win here to even the series and make it a best two-of-three. VGK 3-1.

DMack's Caps/VGK Game I Stanley Cup Finals Ice Pick is on the Under The teams met twice this year with VGK winning 4-3 in DC and and 3-0 on tonight's home ice. Fleury as in goal for both wins and has a history of stonewalling the Caps and their big guns when he was with the Penguins. The Caps are big and physical and will try to bully VGK but they won't outwork them. Looking at Game I as a boxing match with both teams getting their legs back (long wait to play) and a feeling out process with neither team taking any chances. This could go 3-2, 2-1, 3-1 ... either way. Play the Under.

DMack's Jets/Knights Game Three Super Play is on the Las Vegas Golden Knights Two very similar teams with one big difference, the man in the mask, Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury hasn't been as sharp as he was vs. the Kings and Sharks but should flick the switch in front of a rabid VGK following at T-Mobil and stone wall the Jets. A couple of opportunistic goals (special teams/takeaway) should get VGK over the hump. You know that under Gallant that VGK will outwork you for 60 minutes, it's their lifeblood and mindset.

DMack's Saturday Night NHL Ice Pick is on the Sharks/Ducks Under After posting nothing but 5.5s and 6s all through the regular season, it didn't take oddsmakers long to post 5s in defensive series with teams that feature good goaltending. This series has been historically a grinder with 9 of the last 10 including the 3-0 win by the Sharks in Game One. Looking for another low scoring "grinder" here as the Ducks will be flying around with the urgency of not going down 0-2 with two home ice losses. Play the under.

DMack's Wednesday NHL Playoff Ice Pick is on VGK The teams split four games during the season, splitting on the other's home ice which matters less in the NHL than any other professional sport. VGK has basically been a slightly better than 50-50 club the last 3o days but they've battled minor injuries and made some trades at the deadline that took some time to get in sync. Both teams have goaltenders that can win you the Cup if they were to get hot for six weeks. VGK has their complete team back, all lines in tact, and have no excuse to not win what figures to be a low scoring, tight checking game here. The Kings tanked final game to ensure matchup with VGK. Be careful what you wish for.

DMack's NHL Regular Season Final Ice Pick is on VGK Las Vegas finishes its incredible inaugural season season with a three-game roadie through Western Canada and have split the first two games while playing reserves and resting regulars with minor dings. That will be the case tonight although Fleury is expected to be in goal which is huge. Vegas is 3-0 against the Flames this year winning by a 15-5 aggregate and covering all three games on the puckline. The effort is ALWAYS there from VGK and at 20 cents against a team that will be going home for good after this game seems like a gift.

The Oilers will be golfing in a couple of days and have been one of the few teams in the NHL who have given VGK problems in the past. Looks like Fleury in goal tonight for VGK which is big and the Knights will also have enough forwards available to put out there quality lines and a checking line. Vegas.

Home ice is less important in hockey than in any of the major sports but this the perfect spot to get some swagger back against a team that has played them tough historically but has quit on 2017-2018. DMack's Puckline Super Play is on the Vegas Golden Knights It's just been a nightmare season for the Habs who are 6-12 in the second half, 8-19 on the road, 8-19 vs. the Western Conference and 8-17 vs. winning records. VGK is 21-4-1 at home looking to extend its lead in the Western Conference in game four of this extended seven game homestand. This is a revenge game as VGK was beaten in Montreal early on playing its fourth string goalie who strangely enough we might see here. Regardless, VGK already 6-3 in revenge games and most importantly is a team that can find the back of the net. Knights are 18-11 after scoring four or more goals in previous and face Hab outfit that was squashed 5-2 at Arizona in last and has had 48 hours to catch the Vegas flu. VGK 6-3.
