Utah State Aggies (0-0) vs. Oklahoma Sooners (0-0) Betting Lines from 5dimes

College Football Betting Favorite: Oklahoma -33.5

Over/Under: 57.5

Utah State Preview:

The Aggies of Utah State have made some progress in recent years, but they are definitely outclassed by a huge margin in this game. The offense is led by a very impressive dual-threat quarterback, Diondre Borel. Borel is a great runner and an adequate passer, who makes good decisions with the football. In 2009, Borel threw just four interceptions and 17 touchdown passes. Borel has five receivers back from last year’s team who caught more than 20 passes, so the experience is there for the aerial attack.

The Utah State defense is a pretty weak unit. The defensive line was 100th in the nation in sacks last year, so they can’t pressure the quarterback. How bad is the situation on the line? Not even one of the defensive linemen that return from 2009 recorded a sack last year. The linebackers are a pretty good group who can fly around and deliver some big hits. The secondary is another big weakness for the Aggies. The corners and safeties get beat deep often and the lack of pressure on the quarterback really makes this a huge problem for Utah State.

Oklahoma Preview:

The Oklahoma Sooners were not a bit happy with how the 2009 season went. Injuries and a bunch of close losses led to the Sooners finishing just 8-5 on the year. Expectations are extremely high in 2010, and with quite a few of the youngsters getting a chance to play last season, the Sooners should be ready to contend this year.

Landry Jones showed that he has the skills to lead this offense last year, and I expect him to be more consistent in 2010. Ryan Broyles is one of the most dynamic players in all of college football, so the Sooners need to make sure he touches the ball often. DeMarco Murray appears to be healthy and he could have a breakout year for this team as long as the offensive line improves in their run blocking. The Sooners should have one of the best offenses in the nation.

What about the defensive side of the football? The defense lost McCoy on the front line and that will hurt, but their defensive line should still be very good. The linebackers will pursue the football well, and I think this team will definitely be good against the run. The biggest question mark for this defense is the secondary. The cornerbacks are unproven and a solid passing attack could give the Sooners problems in 2010.

Utah State vs. Oklahoma College Football Prediction:

You don’t need me to tell you this, but there is definitely no way this Utah State team has the firepower to stay with Oklahoma. As an expert college football handicapper I make it a practice to stay away from college football spreads that are as big as 33.5 such as this one. I do have a big play on this game though. In fact, Saturday’s college football total play of the day is on this game. I have a HUGE guaranteed winner on this game’s total, so do check it out.

My college football picks crushed the books last year, and I am the top ranked handicapper in the world in 2010. Get on board and let’s have a great season!
