UCLA Bruins vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers College Football Preview
College Football Betting Odds from SportsBettingOnline.AG
College Football Betting Favorite: Nebraska -4.5
The Nebraska Cornhuskers host UCLA in a non-conference rematch of the Bruins 36-30 victory last season in Pasadena.
Nebraska leads the all-time series 6-5, with the 2013 match up being their only meeting in the last two decades
The Cornhuskers currently sit as a 4.5 point favorite, with the total set at 70 points. Let’s take a closer look at this game and then I’ll provide a free college football pick.
After being idle last week, the #16 ranked Bruins bring a 1-0 record into Lincoln. They broke open a close game VS Nevada with 41 second half points on their way to a 58-20 victory in their opener. Brett Hundley threw for 2 TD and 274 yards, while adding two scores on the ground. Jordon James rolled up 155 yards on the ground and accounted for one of the Bruins five rushing scores.
Keenan Graham paced the defense with a pair of sacks from the LB position.
The Bruins 647 yards gained ranks #3 in FBS, while their defense currently ranks #54. It’s only one non-conference game, but both marks are improvements over last season (#24 and #76 respectively).
It was one year ago when Bo Pelini and his Cornhuskers headed west for a game that foretold an up and down season for the Nebraska defense. Though they finished ranked 35th on that side of the ball, the Bruins rolled up 653 yards VS the Huskers. This was the first of three notable shoddy performances (498 yards VS Ohio St. and 640 yards and 70 points VS Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game).
#23 Nebraska opened this season with a 37-34 victory over Wyoming. They came back from a 14-10 deficit, opened up a 16 point 4th Quarter lead, then survived two late turnovers for the victory.
Last week the Cornhuskers pounded Southern Mississippi, riding two first quarter pick sixes to a 56-13 home victory.
Taylor Martinez has passed for 325 yards through two games, while maintaining a sparkling 6-1 TD to INT ratio. His 114 yards rushing has supplemented the Huskers three-headed ground attack of Ameer Abdullah (228 yards, 2 TD) Imani Cross(119,3)and Terrell Newby (136 yds). Quincy Enunwa has emerged as a favorite red zone target with 3 TD.
Free College Football Pick: UCLA +4.5
Nebraska’s defense hasn’t proven that it can stop a good offense in the past two years. UCLA has plenty of talent, and they should either win or keep this game very close. Take the Bruins.
