Stanford Cardinal (4-0) vs. Oregon Ducks  (4-0) Betting Lines from BetJamaica

Date/Time: Saturday October 2- 8:00 PM

MoneyLine: Oregon (-260) Stanford (+220)

College Football Betting Spread: Oregon -7 (+100) Stanford +7 (-115)

Over/Under: 66

Stanford

Jim Harbaugh is doing a brilliant job with this Stanford program. They lost their main man from last year when Toby Gerhart moved on to the NFL, but Andrew Luck and the rest of this team is definitely rising to the occasion. The Cardinal have won their first four games by an average score of 48 to 14.

The offense centers around Andrew Luck, and he is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Luck has completed 63% of his passes and has 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Luck is also averaging 9.6 yards per rush on the season, so he is threat to run the football as well. The Cardinal have plenty of good route runners at the wide receiver spot and this is an extremely sound offensive unit.

The defense was the question mark heading into the year, but they have been great thus far in 2010. The defense shutout UCLA on the road earlier this year and held Notre Dame to just 14 points last week. The team has improved greatly up front and they are ranked 36th in the nation in run defense. Last year the running defense was a real weakness. The secondary is still the strength of this unit, as they rank 11th in the nation in pass defense.

Oregon

No team has been more dynamic on offense than Oregon so far this year. Chip Kelly’s Oregon Ducks have absolutely been blowing teams away with their speed and talent. This will be their toughest yet against a sound Stanford team.

The Ducks don’t have Jeremiah Masoli anymore, but Darron Thomas has done a nice job at the quarterback spot. Thomas adds another potential running threat in the backfield, and gives defenses something else to think about. The running back tandem of LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner is a clear sign that this team is packed with speed! Both of these backs can take it the distance every time they touch the football. The offensive line is outperforming expectations and they are leading one of the best offenses in the nation.

The Ducks have a solid defense as well, though they were lit up by Arizona State a week ago. Oregon allowed 597 total yards to the Sun Devils in their 42-31 win last Saturday. The Oregon defense has done a good job so far this year of keeping their opponent out of the end zone. A strong front seven helps this unit get pressure on the quarterback on a consistent basis and reduces the pressure on the secondary.

Stanford vs. Oregon Free College Football Pick:

I think this will be a terrific college football game. I really like what Jim Harbaugh is doing at Stanford and I think this is a great chance for them to step up on a national stage. If you are able to get Stanford at +7 I think they are the play in this one.

Premium Play: One of my biggest plays on the Saturday college football card is the Stanford/Oregon total. You can get this premium play by purchasing the “Saturday CFB Totals Trio.”
