04-13-24 | Rangers v. Astros -140 | Top | 2-9 | Win | 100 | 5 h 23 m | Show |
Rivalry game here as the Houston Astros welcome their intrastate foes, the Texas Rangers for the 2nd game of this three-game set. The Rangers took game one on Friday in a slug-fest, 12-8. That was just the Rangers 2nd win in their last six games. Texas is still in first in the AL West with a 8-6 record, a half-game ahead of the LA Angels. The Astros pull up the bottom spot in the AL West at 4-11. The Astros also have the division's worst run differential at -23 runs. The Rangers will send Andrew Heaney to the hill today with a 0-2 record in his two starts. He has a 7.55 ERA and 1.319 WHIP. He's allowed eight hits and nine runs over 8 1/3 innings of work. One of those losses was vs these Astros where he allowed four hits and six runs over 3 2/3 innings of work. The Astros looking to snap a four-game losing streak here today. Ronel Blanco will toe the rubber. He's been outstanding for the Astros with a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA and 0.467 WHIP. He's allowed one hit over his 15 innings of work with no runs allowed. Blanco pitched a NO HITTER in his first start of the season vs Toronto with just two walks and seven hits Then against these Rangers he went six innings and allowed one hit and no runs. It was in the 6th inning that he lost the no hitter as he went for back-to-back no-no's. I'm taking Houston here today. I know they haven't played well, but you don't have to play too good when Blanco is on the hill. Play Houston. |

04-12-24 | Royals +112 v. Mets | Top | 1-6 | Loss | -100 | 18 h 4 m | Show |
The Kansas City Royals look to extend their win streak to eight games here on Friday as they head to New York to face the Mets. The Royals are in 2nd place in the AL Central, just a half game back of the Guardians. They also now have the best run differential in baseball with a +39. The Royals are coming off a sweep of the Astros, outscoring Houston 28-6 in the three game series. That includes yesterday's win where they scored nine runs in the first inning en route to a 13-3 victory. Michael Wacha will make his third start of the season with a 1-0 record and 2.25 ERA and 0.583 WHIP. Wacha has allowed just five hits and three runs over his 12 inning of work. In addition, he has 13 KO's to just two walks. The New York Mets are 5-7 to start the season with a -1 run differential. They are in 3rd in the NL East, 2.5-games back of the Braves. The Mets blew out the Braves on Thursday, 16-4 as they took two of the three games from the Braves. Luis Severino will toe the rubber for the Mets. Severino is 0-1 in his two starts with a 6.30 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. He's allowed 15 hits over 11 inning with eight runs. The Royals are just red hot right now and have plenty of pitching to go around. I'll stay with the hot Royals here on Friday. Play Kansas City. |

04-11-24 | Astros v. Royals +123 | Top | 3-13 | Win | 123 | 5 h 11 m | Show |
The Houston Astros have lost two straight games and have dropped to last in the AL West with a 4-9 record and -9 run differential. Meanwhile the Kansas City Royals improved to 8-4 and 2nd in the AL Central, just one game back of the Cleveland Guardians. They also have a +29 run differential. The Astros have been outscored by the Royals 5-15 in the first two games of this set. Hunter Brown will take the mound for the third time this season. Brown is 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA and 2.571 WHIP. He's allowed 12 hits and six runs over his seven innings of work. The Royals have now won six straight games and their pitching has been outstanding. Not only has the bullpen allowed just 1.66 ERA during it's last seven games, but the Royals have not allowed more than three runs in any of the games during this win streak. Brady Singer will toe the rubber today. Singer is 1-0 in his three starts with a nifty 0.68 ERA and 0.525 WHIP. He's allowed just five total hits and one run over 13 1/3 innings. I like the Royals a lot here today. Take Kansas City. |
04-10-24 | Rays -127 v. Angels | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 10 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Rays are in that tough AL East division and every team has at least a .500 record and that includes the Rays who are 6-6 on the season. They have a -13 run differential. The Rays and Angels have split the first two games of this series with Tampa Bay winning last night, 6-4. Tampa Bay sends Zack Littell to the mound tonight with a 1-0 record after his two starts. Littell has a nifty 0.82 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. He's allowed nine hits and one run over his first 11 innings of work. The LA Angels are 6-5 and tied for first in the AL West. They have a -8 run differential and are tied with the Ranges. The Angels will send Jose Soriano to the hill this afternoon. The 6-foot-3 righthander has seen limited action from the bullpen this season. He was moved into the rotation when Chase Silseth was put on the injured list. Soriano showed promise as a starter during the spring and that's why he's been moved into the rotation tonight. I'm sticking with the Rays though in this one. Play Tampa Bay. |
04-09-24 | Phillies -124 v. Cardinals | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -124 | 18 h 19 m | Show |
The Philadelphia Phillies had to go to extra innings but they took their game on Monday vs the Cardinals, 5-3. That evened the Phillies record to 5-5 on the season as they are 2nd in the NL East, 1.5-games back of the braves. They also hve a -6 run differential. The Phils will start Zack Wheeler today who is 0-1 on the season. Wheeler makes his third start today with a 0.75 ERA and .75 WHIP. He's allowed just eight hits over 12 innings of work with just one earned run. The Cardinals dropped to 5-6 with their loss on Monday to the Phillies. They have -7 run differential and are in last place in the NL Central. Sonny Gray makes his first start for the Cardinals after coming over from the Twins in the offseason. Gray was 8-8 with a 2.79 ERA and 1.15 WHIP last year. I'm sticking with the Phillies here on Tuesday. Wheeler has been great and not sure what we will see out of Gray yet. Play Philadelphia. |
04-07-24 | Marlins v. Cardinals -137 | Top | 10-3 | Loss | -137 | 3 h 57 m | Show |
The Miami Marlins envisioned a better to start to their season. They couldn't have imaged a 0-9 start. The Marlins have scored just 30 total runs while allowing 62 runs for a -32 Run Differential. The Marlins look to avoid the sweep here today at the hands of the Cardinals. St Louis won game one of the series on Friday, 8-5 and then yesterday, 3-1. Today, the Marlins will send Max Meyer to the hill for his second start. Meyer went five innings and allowed two hits and two runs in a no decision against the Angels in his first start. The Cardinals are 5-4 to start the season, yet find themselves in last in the NL Central as all the teams in the division have had excellent starts. The Cardinals have a +2 Run differential. The Cardinals will send Kyle Gibson to the hill today. Gibson had a very good first start, going seven innings and allowing just four hits and two runs in a win over the Padres. I can't play the Marlins until they show they can win and I don't see that happening today vs Gibson and the Cards. Play St Louis. |
10-09-23 | Diamondbacks v. Dodgers -146 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -146 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
Arizona swept Milwaukee on the road in the NL Wildcard and now into LA and tame game one in huge fashion with a win, 11-2. They have won three straight now as they look to take a commanding lead in this best of five series. Zac Gallen will toe the rubber for the D'backs. Gallen is 18-9 on the season with a 3.46 ERA. In his Wildcard game at Milwaukee he went six innings, allowing five hits and two runs to get the win. The Dodgers in a must win spot here will send Bobby Miller to the hill. Miller has been great for LA with a 11-4 record and 3.76 ERA. Miller is coming off a fine outing at San Francisco where he allowed just one hit and no runs over four innings. I'm taking LA here as they have to win or be forced into a sweep event. Take LA Dodgers. |
10-04-23 | Blue Jays v. Twins -136 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 17 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins can end this first round of Wildcard playoffs with win today over the Blue Jays. The higher seed has a big advantage in this best of three series as all three games would be at home. The Twins took the first game on Tuesday, 3-1. They got a great pitching performance from Pablo Lopez who went 5 2/3 innings, with five hits and one run. Sonny Gray will start game two. Gray is 8-8 in the regular season with a 2.74 ERA. He was even better down the stretch with a 2-2 record and 1.54 ERA. The Blue Jays will start Jose Berrios who is 11-12 on the season with a 3.65 ERA. He was 2-4 in his last seven starts with a 4.53 ERA. I look for the Twins to send the Jays home after this game today. Play Minnesota. |
09-01-23 | Tigers -128 v. White Sox | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 21 h 55 m | Show |
The Tigers won on Thursday, beating the Yankees 4-3 in 10 innings. They led 3-0 in the top of the 9th with two outs before giving up the game tying home run. However, they were able to prevail in the bottom of the 10th inning for the win. They open this series with the White Sox. Both teams just looking to play out the rest of the season as neither will make the postseason. Detroit starts Eduardo Rodriguez here today who is 9-7 with a 3.21 ERA. Touki Toussaint will counter for the White Sox. He is 2-6 in his 10 starts with a 5.59 ERA. Both pitchers have been inconsistent of late, but I'll take the Tigers here on Friday. |
08-25-23 | Padres v. Brewers -110 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 11 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres begin their set here tonight. The Brewers are in 1st place in the AL Central, three games ahead of the Cubs. The Brewers have won five straight games and seven of their last 10. They will face a Padres team that had huge expectations entering the season but have fallen flat. The Padres are 18 games back of the Dodgers in the AL West and six games back in the NL Wildcard race. While they may have a shot at the Wildcard, they have six teams ahead of them in that race. Yu Darvish starts for the Padres with a 8-9 record in his 23 starts and a 4.35 ERA. He has allowed eight runs over his last two starts (12 innings). Brandon Woodruff will start for the Brewers with a 2-1 record in his five starts and a 2.89 ERA. Woodruff has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his five starts. I like the Brewers here tonight against a struggling Padres club. Play Milwaukee. |
08-22-23 | Blue Jays v. Orioles -114 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -114 | 10 h 13 m | Show |
AL East battle here on Tuesday has the division leading Baltimore Orioles taking on the third place Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays are 8.5 games back of the O's and have won two straight games and five of their last 10. Baltimore has won three games in a row and seven of their last 10 games. Toronto is also just a half game back in the AL Wild Card race. The Jays will start Yusei Kikuchi today who is 9-4 in his 24 starts and a 3.44 ERA. Grayson Rodriguez will start for the O's with a 3-3 record and 5.44 ERA. That number goes down a bit of late to 4.62 over his last seven starts. What I like most though is that he's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. I'm taking the O's at home here tonight. |
08-16-23 | Phillies v. Blue Jays -140 | Top | 9-4 | Loss | -140 | 9 h 29 m | Show |
The Toronto Blue Jays look to make it three wins in a row after their win over the Phillies on Tuesday, 2-1. The Jays are 7.5 games back of the Orioles in the AL East. However, they are just two-games back of the Astros in the race for that 2nd Wild Card spot in the AL. Philly has no chance at the NL East, as they trail the Braves by double digits. However, they are in 1st place in the NL Wildcard race, leading the Giants by one game and the Marlins by 2.5-games. Aaron Nola will start today for the Phils. Nola is 9-8 on the season with a 4.49 ERA. He's 5-5 on the road in 14 starts with a 5.15 ERA. The Jays will send Kevin Gausman to the hill. Gausman is 9-6 in his 23 starts with a 3.04 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 3-2 record in 11 starts and a 2.71 ERA. Two very good pitchers, but my nod goes to the Jays in this one. |
08-14-23 | Mariners -140 v. Royals | Top | 6-7 | Loss | -140 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners chasing the Texas Rangers in the AL West. The Mariners are 63-54 and 6.5-games back of first place. Their odds of getting a Wildcard are better as they are just 1.5-games back of one of the two playoff spots with just three teams ahead of them. The KC Royals are 38-81 and a lock for last in the AL Central. They have one of the worst run differentials in baseball with a -160 mark. Brady Singer has been the one bright spot for the Royals this year with a 8-8 mark in his 23 starts and a 5.05 ERA. Those numbers a bit better at home with a 5-4 mark and 4.12 ERA. The Mariners will start one of their best here today in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-5 in 23 starts with a 3.66 ERA. The M's have won Gilbert's last seven starts. During those seven games Gilbert is 5-0 with a 2.58 ERA. We get a decent price on Seattle here today because of Singer on the hill for the Royals. I'll take the Mariners as they need to beat teams like this to stay in the WildCard race. Play Seattle. |
08-09-23 | Dodgers -125 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 11 h 1 m | Show |
The LA Dodgers have won seven of their last eight games after taking Tuesday's opener of this set with the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers gained a game on Arizona, San Diego and the Giants - all of whom lost on Tuesday. LA now leads by five games in the NL West. As for Arizona, this was a team that lead the division for most of the first half of the season. However, since the All Star game, they have the worst record in baseball with just five wins. LA starts Bobby Miller today who is 6-2 in his 12 starts with a 4.26 ERA. He's been excellent on the road with a 4-0 mark in six starts and a 2.61 ERA. The D'backs start Merrill Kelly who is 9-5 in 19 starts with a 3.38 ERA. Arizona has lost three of his last four starts despite good efforts by Kelly. The Diamondbacks just not playing good and the Dodgers look to do no wrong right now. Play LA. |
08-04-23 | Astros -139 v. Yankees | Top | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 42 m | Show |
The Astros came up just short in their game with the Yankees on Thursday, losing 3-4. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Houston. The Astros trail first place Texas by 1.5-games. The Yankees won their second straight games but still trail first place Baltimore by 10-games. The Astros will start Hunter Brown today. Brown is 7-7 in his 20 starts with a 4.12 ERA. Brown has put good back-to-back starts together, allowing four total runs over 12 innings. The Yankees will counter with Luis Severino who is 2-5 in his his 12 starts with a lofty 7.49 ERA. Those numbers are up over the last seven starts with a 2-4 record and 8.26 ERA. Severino has allowed seven or more runs in three of his last five starts. I'll take the Astros to rebound here on Friday. Play Houston. |
08-02-23 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -120 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 18 h 15 m | Show |
The Orioles have won three straight games after their win over the Jays on Monday, 13-3. They maintained their 1.5 lead over the Rays who have also won three straight games. The Blue Jays look to snap a three-game losing streak today as they are 7.5-games back of the O's. The Jays are also two-games back in the AL Wildcard race. The Orioles will start Grayson Rodriguez here today who is 2-2 in his 13 starts with a 6.21 ERA. He hasn't been any better of late, going 1-2 in his last seven starts with a 6.82 ERA. The Jays will counter with Yusei Kikuchi who is 8-3 in his 21 starts and a 3.79 ERA. He has been better of late, going 2-1 in his last seven starts and a 2.82 ERA. I look for the Blue Jays to snap their small losing streak here today. Play Toronto. |
08-01-23 | Diamondbacks -113 v. Giants | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -113 | 19 h 12 m | Show |
NL West division game here as the 2nd place San Francisco Giants take on the 3rd place Arizona Diamondbacks. The D'backs trail the Giants by just one game and the 1st place Dodgers by 3.5 games. That makes this a very important series for both teams. The Giants made some trades this week, acquiring OF AJ Pollock and IF Mark Mathias from the Mariners. They also picked up RHP Marques Johnson from the Boston Red Sox. The Diamondbacks have been more quiet, picking up RP Paul Sewald from the Mariners and IF Jace Peterson from the A's. Zac Gallen starts for the D'backs. Gallen is 11-5 in his 22 starts with a 3.36 ERA. He hasn't been as good on the road with a 2-4 record in his 11 starts and a 4.97 ERA. Alex Cobb will start for the Giants with a 6-3 record in his 19 starts and a 2.97 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 6-2 record in his eight starts and a 1.09 ERA. I'll take the Giants here tonight. |
07-30-23 | Phillies -140 v. Pirates | Top | 4-6 | Loss | -140 | 2 h 1 m | Show |
The Phillies lost to the Pirates on Saturday and that drops them to 11 games back of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. However, the Phils do hold the 2nd Wild Card spot with Cincinnati and a half game ahead of Miami and Arizona. The Pirates are done, despite leading the division for most of April and May. They are now 10.5 games back of the Brewers in the NL Central and 10 games back in the Wild Card race. Cristopher Sanchez starts today for the Phillies with a 0-3 record in eight starts and a decent 2.98 ERA. He has not allowed more than three runs in any of his starts this year. Rich Hill gets the nod for the Pirates. Hill is 7-10 in his 21 stars with a 4.89 ERA. He's just 1-4 with a 5.89 ERA in his last seven starts. I'm taking the Phillies here today. |
07-29-23 | Cubs -102 v. Cardinals | Top | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 53 m | Show |
The rivalry continues here tonight between these two NL clubs as the Cardinals host the Cubs. The Cubs have taken the first two games of this four-game set with wins on Thursday, 10-3, and then again on Friday, 3-2. The Cubs are only 4.5 games back in the NL Central after winning seven straight games and nine of their last 10 games. The Cardinals are now 11.5 games back in the division after losing two straight and six of their last 10. The Cardinals might be dropping big players here before the trade deadline since they look dead in the playoff picture. The Cubs start Jameson Taillon today who is 4-6 in his 17 starts with a 5.85 ERA. Taillon has been pretty good of late, allowing four total runs over his last three starts (19 2/3 innings). Adam Wainwright starts for the Cubs with a 3-4 record in his 12 starts and a lofty 7.31 ERA. Wainwright has allowed six runs or more in three of his last four starts. I like the Cubs today as they are red-hot and have the better pitcher on the mound. Play St Louis. |
07-28-23 | Yankees -119 v. Orioles | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 28 m | Show |
AL East clash here on Friday has the top team in the Division, Baltimore, taking on last place NY Yankees. However, this is the best division in baseball as every team is at least 6-games over .500 and every team has a plus run differential. The Yankees are 8-games back of the O's. The Yankees will send their Ace, Gerrit Cole to the hill. Cole is 9-2 in his 21 starts with a 2.78 ERA. He's been just as good on the road with a 3-1 away record and 2.59 ERA. Cole has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his last nine starts. The O's will send Grayson Rodriguez to the hill. Rodriguez is 2-2 in his 12 starts with a 6.91 ERA. That number is worse at home with a 1-2 record and 9.11 in six starts. Come on down, the price is right on the Yankees today. Play New York. |
07-26-23 | Orioles +107 v. Phillies | Top | 4-6 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 14 m | Show |
Interleague action between two close city rivals as the Phillies host the Orioles in the final game of their set. The O's took game one on Monday, 3-2 with the Phils taking game two on Tuesday, 4-3. The rubber game here today. The O's remain in first place in the AL East after overtaking the Rays. They lead by 1.5-games over Tampa Bay. Still the best division in baseball is the AL East with all five teams having winning records and plus run differentials. The Phillies likely eyeing a Wild Card at this point. They are in 2nd in the NL East, but 11.5-games back of the Braves. The Phils are tied for the 2nd wild card spot in the NL with three other teams. Baltimore starts Kyle Bradish here today with a 6-5 record and 3.05 ERA. Bradish has been very good of late, going 4-3 in his last seven starts with a 1.62 ERA. He hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last seven starts and has allowed just two runs total over his last three starts. Ranger Suarez starts for the Phils with a 2-5 record and 4.07 ERA. He's allowed 16 runs over his last four starts (22 innings). I like the O's to stay hot especially with Bradish on the hill. Take Baltimore. |
07-23-23 | White Sox v. Twins -142 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 3 h 40 m | Show |
d their lead in the AL Central to 2-games over 2nd place Cleveland. The Twins are the only team in the division with a winning record at 52-48. The White Sox are 4th in the division with a 41-59 record and 11-games back of the Twins. They have lost two straight games and lost seven of their last 10 games. They also have a -75 run differential. Lucas Giolito will start today for the Sox with a 6-6 record in his 20 starts and a 3.96 ERA. His numbers are worse on the road where he is 3-4 in 10 starts with a 5.74 ERA. Bailey Ober will toe the rubber for the Twins with a 6-4 record and 2.74 ERA. Ober has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last six starts. I'll take the Twins here at home on Sunday. |
07-20-23 | Padres -112 v. Blue Jays | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -112 | 3 h 32 m | Show |
The Padres have won two straight games and six of their last 10 games, but still are 9.5-games out in the NL West behind the Dodgers. They are also 6.5-games back in the NL Wild Card race. The Blue Jays have lost two straight games, but still are just 5.5-games back of the Rays in the AL East. They also hold onto the 2nd spot in the AL Wild Card race. Snell has a 0.66 ERA in his last seven starts and is 4-1. Snell could be the best pitcher in baseball right now as he's allowed just two runs total over his last six starts and just FOUR runs over his last 10 starts. The Jays will counter with Chris Bassitt today. Bassitt has had a fine season thus far with a 9-5 record in his 20 starts and a 4.12 ERA. I expect Snell to have the Padres ahead before he leaves this game and if the bullpen can hold we have a "W." Play Padres. |
07-18-23 | Dodgers v. Orioles -124 | Top | 10-3 | Loss | -124 | 16 h 55 m | Show |
The first place LA Dodgers continue their IL East coast swing here today vs the 2nd place AL East Baltimore Orioles. The Dodgers took game one of his set on Monday with a 6-4 win. Michael Grove will start for the Dodgers with a 0-2 record in his eight starts and a lofty 7.20 ERA. That number goes up in his three road starts to 11.92! Tyler Wells will start for the O's with a 7-4 record in his 17 starts and a 3.34 ERA. That number goes down more at home with a 2.57 ERA. Grove might be a good prospect, but I like the O's and Wells here on Tuesday. Play Baltimore. |
07-15-23 | Red Sox +104 v. Cubs | Top | 4-10 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 32 m | Show |
Interleague action here on Saturday has the Boston Red Sox visiting Wrigley field to take on the Cubbies. These two teams opened the 2nd half of the season on Friday with Boston taking the game, 8-3. Bost has now won six games in a row and nine of their last 10 games to move into a last place AL East tie with the Yankees, both teams at 49-43. The Cubs are in 3rd in the NL Central with a 42-48 record, seven games back of the Brewers. The Cubs have lost six of their last 10 games. James Paxton will start for the Red Sox with a 5-1 record in his 10 starts and a nice 2.73 ERA. Paxton is 4-0 in his last seven starts with a 1.93 ERA. The Cubs will start Marcus Stroman who is 9-6 in his 19 starts with a 2.96 ERA. Stroman struggled into the break, giving up 15 runs over his last three starts (14 innings). I'm going to take the Sox here today with a very good Paxton on the hill. |
07-14-23 | Padres v. Phillies +101 | Top | 8-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 32 m | Show |
The 2nd half of the MLB season starts today and two teams that both have ground to make up are the Padres and Phillies. The San Diego Padres won their last two games of the 1st half of the season. They are 5.5-games back of the Dodgers and Diamondbacks in the NL West. The Phillies are in 3rd in the NL East, 12-games back of the Braves. The Phillies do have a plus run differential though of +9. Yu Darvish starts today for the Padres with a 5-6 record in his 15 starts and a 4.87 ERA. That number goes up on the road to 6.16 ERA. Cristopher Sanchez will start for the Phils with a 0-2 record in his five starts and a 2.84 ERA. Sanchez has pitched well of late, allowing just two earned runs over his last two starts (12 innings) and five runs over his last four starts (21 innings). I'll take Sanchez at home today over the Padres. |
07-06-23 | Cardinals v. Marlins -115 | Top | 3-0 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 30 m | Show |
Miami rallied late last night to take another game from the Cardinals, 10-9. That makes three straight with the final game of this set here today and the fish looking for a sweep. Miami has scored 30 runs over the three games while holding the Cards to 15 runs. Miami will start Eury Perez today who looks to rebound from a horid outing last time where he allowed seven hits and six runs over just a third of an inning pitched. That terrible outing was so out of character, because he had just come off a stretch where he allowed one earned run over six starts (33 innings). Even with those seven runs allowed in less than an inning, Perez has a 5-2 record and 2.47 ERA. That number is even better at home where he has a 3-0 record and 1.01 ERA. St Louis starts Jack Flaherty today who is 5-5 in his 16 starts with a 4.61 ERA. The Cardinals terrible season continues as they likely will be dumping talent as the trade deadline looms. I'm going to take Perez to rebound here today and the Marlins to sweep the series. Play Miami. |

07-01-23 | Guardians v. Cubs -133 | Top | 6-0 | Loss | -133 | 22 h 51 m | Show |
Interleague action here on Saturday has the Cleveland Guardians taking on the Cubs from Wrigley Stadium in Chicago. The Cubs took the first game on Friday in easy fashion, 10-1. The Guardians have now lost two straight games and have dropped to one-game back of the Twins in the AL Central. In fact, the AL Central is the only division in baseball where no team has a .500 or better record. While the Cubs are in fourth place in the NL Central, they are also the only team in the division with a positive run differential (+32). The Guardians will start Tanner Bibee who is 4-2 in his 11 starts with a 3.79 ERA. Those numbers aren't as good on the road where he is 1-1 in five away starts with a 5.68 ERA. Marcus Stroman will toe the rubber for the Cubbies. Stroman is 9-5 in his 17 starts with a nifty 2.47 ERA. He's 5-3 at Wrigley with a 2.25 ERA. I like the Cubs once again here on Saturday. Play Chicago. |
06-30-23 | Giants -118 v. Mets | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 27 m | Show |
The San Francisco Giants continue to hold onto 2nd place in the NL West, 2.5-games back of the Diamondbacks. The Giants have won seven of their last 10 games, though they did drop yesterday's game to Toronto, 1-2. Now they begin a set against the reeling NY Mets. The Mets have dropped to four place in the NL East, 17-games back of the Braves. The Mets horrific first half say them drop another game on Thursday as a big favorite to the Brewers. They have lost four of their last five and are 18-24 their last 42 games. Alex Cobb will start today for the Giants with a 5-2 record and a 3.09 ERA. He will be opposed by the Mets Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is 2-3 in his 10 starts with a 6.19 ERA. That number has gone up at home with a 8.19 ERA. The Mets are finding ways to lose these days and the Giants continue to challenge in the NL West. Take San Francisco. |
06-29-23 | Marlins v. Red Sox -102 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -102 | 7 h 9 m | Show |
The Miami Marlins have won four straight games and seven of their last 10 games. They are in 2nd place in the NL East, 6.5-points back of the Atlanta Braves. The Boston Red Sox play in the best division in baseball. They are 40-41 and in last place in the division but still have a positive run differential. Miami will start Jesus Luzardo today who is 6-5 in his 16 starts with a 3.77 ERA. That number goes up on the road to 5.45 ERA. The Sox will counter with Brayan Bello who is 5-4 in his 12 starts and a 3.27 ERA. Bellow has allowed just two runs over his last two starts (13 2/3 innings). Moreover he's allowed more than two runs just one time in his last 10 starts. I like the way Bello has pitched of late and will take the Red Sox here at this good price. Play Boston. |
06-27-23 | Brewers +133 v. Mets | Top | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 28 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Brewers took game one of this series with the Mets on Monday, 2-1. The Brewers are just holding onto first place in the NL Central with a half game lead over the Reds. The Brewers have won two straight games and seven of their last 10 games. The Mets slide continues as they have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 games to drop to 4th in the NL East. They are 35-43, 16 games back of the Braves. The Brewers will start Julio Teheran today who is 2-2 in his six starts with a nifty 1.53 ERA. Teheran has yet to allow more than two runs in any of his six starts this season. The Mets will start David Peterson. Peterson has struggle in his eight starts, going 1-6 with a 8.08 ERA. He's allowed 21 runs over his last 18 1/3 innings. I like Teheran a lot here today and yet he's a dog to a struggling team and terrible pitcher. Play the Brewers. |
06-24-23 | Red Sox -108 v. White Sox | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -108 | 5 h 58 m | Show |
The Boston Red Sox play in the toughest division in baseball. It's the only division where all five teams have winning records and all five teams have positive run differentials. The Red Sox might be in last place, 12 games back of the Rays, but they have won seven of their last 10 games and have a 40-37 record. Not bad for a last place team. The White Sox play in one of the worst divisions Only division leading Minnesota has a winning record and that's barely at 39-38. The Twins are the only team that has a positive run differential also. The White Sox are in 4th place with a 32-45 record, seven games back of 1st place. The Sox start Lance Lynn with a 4-8 record and 6.51 ERA. James Paxton will go for the Red Sox with a 3-1 record in seven starts and a 3.28 ERA. Everything for me lines up on the visitors in this one. Play Boston. |
06-23-23 | Mets v. Phillies -114 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 17 h 47 m | Show |
NL East battle here on Friday has the Mets and Phillies meeting in Philadelphia. The Phillies are in third place in the division with a 38-36 record while the Mets are in 4th with a 34-40 record. Both teams come into today's series opener losers of two straight games. The Mets will start Kodai Senga who is 6-4 with a 3.53 ERA in his 13 starts. That number goes up on the road as his ERA jumps up to 4.78. Taijuan Walker gets the start for the Phils with a 7-3 record in his 15 starts and a 4.31 ERA. He's much better at home with a 3-0 record in six starts and a 2.25 ERA. In addition, Walker has allowed just one total run over his last three starts (20 innings) with 21 KO's and 5 walks. I like Walker a lot here on Friday. Play Philadelphia. |
06-22-23 | Pirates v. Marlins -127 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 16 h 49 m | Show |
It wasn't that long ago that we were calling the Pittsburgh Pirates the NL Central division leading Pirates. How the mighty have fallen. The Pirates are now 34-38, have the worst run differential in the division (-36) and in fourth place. They have lost eight straight games to get to this position. Meanwhile the Miami Marlins have been solid, winning seven of their last 10 games and in 2nd place in the NL East. The Bucs will start Mitch Keller who has had a fine season at 8-3 in 15 starts. Keller has a 3.62 ERA and slightly higher on the road with a 4.44 ERA. He did allow four runs in five inning in his last start at Milwaukee. The Marlins will start Braxton Garrett who is 3-2 in his 13 starts with a 3.78 ERA. Garrett has allowed just one run over his last two starts (11 1/3 innings). I like the Marlins here today against the reeling Pirates. Play Miami. |
06-21-23 | Orioles +131 v. Rays | Top | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 55 m | Show |
The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays battling for top dog in the AL East division. The Rays have lost three straight games after they dropped Tuesday's contest to the Orioles, 6-8. Their lead in the East down to four-games over the Orioles who have won seven of their last 10 games. Tyler Wells will start today for the O's with his 6-2 record and 3.40 ERA. Wells hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last four starts. Taj Bradley will counter for the Rays with a 4-3 record and 4.19 ERA. That number goes way up to 7.13 ERA in his four home starts. I like the live dog in this one as the O's look to close that gap in the AL East. Play Baltimore. |
06-20-23 | Blue Jays v. Marlins -115 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 60 m | Show |
IL Action here today has the NL East's Miami Marlins taking on the LA East Toronto Blue Jays. The Marlins are in 2nd place in the East with a 42-31 record and have won five straight games. They will start Eury Perez who is 4-1 in his seven starts with a nifty, 1.80 ERA. He's allowed just one total run over his last four starts. The Jays will counter with Yusei Kikucho who is 6-2 in his 14 starts with a 4.31 ERA. I really like Perez today who has looked unhittable in his last four starts. Play Miami. |
06-19-23 | Padres -108 v. Giants | Top | 4-7 | Loss | -108 | 10 h 57 m | Show |
The Giants have won seven straight games and moved into 2nd place in the NL West after sweeping the LA Dodgers. The Giants look to keep the winning going here tonight with Ryan Walker. This will be Walker's first start of the season. Actually, Walker will serve as an opener, which means he likely won't go more than a few innings. Walker has been a reliever in all 11 of his MLB appearances with a 1.23 ERA in 14.2 innings. The Padres have also been playing well, winning two straight and seven of their last 10 games. Michael Wacha will start today with a 7-2 record in his 13 starts and a 2.89 ERA. Wacha has not allowed a run over his last two starts (12.2 innings). I'm taking the Padres today with a very good Wacha on the hill. Play San Diego. |
06-18-23 | Blue Jays v. Rangers -128 | Top | 7-11 | Win | 100 | 3 h 46 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers are just 3-7 in their last 10 games but still hold onto 1st place in the AL West with a 43-27 record and 4.5-game lead over the Astros. The Blue Jays are 39-33 but that's only good for 4th place in the tough AL East division. They trail first place Tampa by 11-games. The Jays will start Chris Bassitt here today. Bassitt is 7-5 in his 14 starts with a 4.02 ERA. That number goes up on the road where he's 4-4 away with a 5.77 ERA. Jon Gray will toe the rubber for the Rangers. Gray is 6-2 in his 12 starts with a 2.32 ERA. Gray has been great of late, allowing one run or no runs in each of his last six starts. I like the way Gray is pitching and the Rangers are a tough division leader. Play Texas. |
06-16-23 | Reds +151 v. Astros | Top | 2-1 | Win | 151 | 9 h 53 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds are in third place in the NL Central and have won five straight games to pull within one game of the .500 mark at 34-35. They will travel to Houston for Friday's game. The Astros are in 2nd place in the AL West at 39-30, 3.5-games back of the Rangers. The Astros are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. The Reds will start Andrew Abbott tonight with a 2-0 record and 0.00 era in his two starts. He has looked very good, allowing six total hits and no runs over 11 2/3 innings. His control is a bit iffy since he's allowed seven walks and just 10 KO's. Houston will counter with J.P. France who is 2-1 in his seven starts with a 3.54 ERA. He has been worse at home in his three starts with a 5.94 ERA. The Reds look like a very live dog here tonight. I'll take a shot with them. Play Cincinnati. |
06-15-23 | Blue Jays v. Orioles -109 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 1 h 20 m | Show |
AL East action here on Thursday has the 2nd place Baltimore Orioles taking on the 4th place Toronto Blue Jays. The East is arguable the toughest division in baseball with only the Red Sox below .500 at 34-35. In addition, it's the only division in baseball where all five teams have a positive run differential. The Orioles having a fine season at 42-25, five games back of the Rays. Tyler Wells will get the start today. Wells is 5-2 in his 12 starts with a 3.47 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 3-2 record and a 2.49 ERA. Wells has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last three starts. Toronto is 38-31 and 10 games back of the Rays. Yusei Kikuchi will start today for the Jays with a 6-2 record and a 4.34 ERA. He's a bit worse on the road as the ERA goes up to 5.00 ERA. I like both the O's and their pitcher here today. Take Baltimore. |
06-14-23 | Phillies v. Diamondbacks -128 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -128 | 9 h 49 m | Show |
The Phillies and Diamondbacks play the third game of their four game set here today in Arizona. The D'backs won game one, 9-8 and dropped game two, 3-15. The Phillies will start Ranger Suarez here tonight. Suarez is 1-2 in his six starts with a 4.70 ERA. Suarez has improved of late, allowing two runs over his last two starts (13 innings). Arizona continue to hold onto 1st place in the NL West, three games ahead of the Dodgers. The D'backs will start Merrill Kelly tonight. Kelly is 8-3 in his 13 starts with a 3.16 ERA. Kelly has eight quality starts and has allowed more than three runs just once in his last eight starts. I'll take the Dbacks here tonight with Kelly. Play Arizona. |
06-10-23 | Mariners v. Angels -121 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -121 | 10 h 1 m | Show |
AL West division game here on Saturday has the Seattle Mariners taking on the LA Angels. The Mariners are in 4th place at 30-32 and have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Angels are in 3rd place at 35-30 and have won five straight games. The Angels will look to make it six straight as they send Patrick Sandoval to the hill. Sandoval is 3-5 in his 11 starts with a 4.14 ERA. He's been a bit better at home with a 3.60 ERA. The Mariners will send Bryan Woo to the hill for just his second start. He's hoping this one is better after going just two innings in his first start, allowing seven hits and six runs. I'll take the streaking Angels here on Saturday. Play LA Angels. |
06-08-23 | Giants v. Rockies +163 | Top | 6-4 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 10 m | Show |
NL West clash here on Thursday has the San Francisco Giants playing in Colorado to face the Rockies. The Giants are 30-30 on the season and 5.5-games back of the first place Diamondbacks. The Rockies are in last place in the NL West with a 26-36 record. The Giants will start Alex Cobb who is 5-2 on the season with a 2.71 ERA. Cobb has been one of the bright spots here this year. Though now he has to pitch his fist game this year in the altitude of Denver. The Rockies will start Chase Anderson who is 0-0 in his four starts with a nice 2.08 ERA. He's been even better in his three home starts with a 1.72 ERA. Giants a big favorite here today and Anderson gives us a shot as he's pitched well in Denver. I'll take the big dog here. Play Colorado. |
06-05-23 | Cardinals v. Rangers -134 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 2 m | Show |
Interleague action here on Monday has the Penthouse vs the Outhouse as 1st place Texas Rangers take on last place St Louis. The Rangers are 1st in the AL West, on a 3 game win streak and have won eight of their last 10 games. The Cardinals are reeling right now, as they have lost three straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Redbirds will start Adam Wainwright who is 2-1 in his five starts but has a lofty 6.15 ERA. The Rangers starting Martin Perez who is 6-1 in his 11 starts with a 4.43 ERA. He's been great at home with a 3-0 record and 1.93 ERA. Only reason I feel this line is as short as it is on the Rangers is because they are giving underperforming St Louis more credit than they deserve. Don't be fooled, this game goes to the Rangers. |
06-04-23 | Braves v. Diamondbacks -132 | Top | 8-5 | Loss | -132 | 5 h 3 m | Show |
Reason: The Arizona Diamondback and LA Dodgers are not only tied for 1st in the NL West, but they have the best records in the National League. Right behind them is the Atlanta Braves who are 1st in the NL East. The Braves and Diamondbacks have split the first two games of this series with the Braves winning on Saturday, 5-2. Today, the Braves will start Mike Soroka who makes only his second start of the season. In his first he went six innings vs the A's, gave up five hits and four runs for the loss. Arizona starts one of their best in Zac Gallen. Gallen is 7-2 in his 12 starts with a 2.72 ERA. He's been great at home with a 6-0 record in his six starts and a 0.66 ERA. I love Gallen here at home where he's been almost unhittable. |
06-03-23 | Mariners v. Rangers -138 | Top | 6-16 | Win | 100 | 5 h 35 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers continue to hold onto first place in the AL West division, 2.5-games ahead of the Astros. Right now it looks to be a two-team Texas races for the division as the Mariners are 7.5-games back. Texas has won seven of their last 10 games. The Mariners could cut into the Rangers lead, but it will be a tall order on the road. The M's lost game one of this series on Friday, 0-2. Seattle has now received three total runs of support for their pitchers in their last three games. The Mariners have promoted their No 6 prospect, Bryan Woo, to start today's game in place of the injured Marco Gonzales. Woo comes up from Double-A to get the start today. Not a lot has been seen from Woo on the pro level, but he was a college standout before Tommy John surgery. Woo might be the real deal, but I'm taking first place Texas here in game two. Play the Rangers. |
05-31-23 | Rangers -148 v. Tigers | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -148 | 2 h 59 m | Show |
The Texas Rangers have won two straight games and eight of their last 10 games. They sit in first place in the AL West, three game ahead of the Houston Astros. They also have the best run differential in baseball with a +132 mark. Dane Dunning starts today for the Rangers with a 2-0 mark in his four starts and a 1.59 ERA. He's 1-0 in three road starts with a 1.62 ERA. Dunning has allowed more than one run just once in his four starts and that was two runs. The Tigers will counter with Joey Wentz today who is 1-5 in 10 starts with a 7.80 ERA. Wentz has allowed 11 runs over his last two starts (6 innings). Big edge today to the visitors, take Texas. |
05-26-23 | Rangers +128 v. Orioles | Top | 12-2 | Win | 128 | 9 h 33 m | Show |
The Baltimore Orioles look to make it three games in a row here today as they host the Texas Rangers. The Orioles are in 2nd place in the tough AL East with a 33-17 record and +45 run differential. Grayson Rodriguez get the starts for the O's today. He's 2-1 in his nine starts with a 6.21 ERA. Those numbers are a bit worse at home where he has a 7.36 ERA in four starts. The Texas Rangers lead the AL West right now with a 31-18 record and 3-game lead over the Houston Astros. They have the 2nd best run differential in baseball at +112, only Tampa Bay is better at +114. Jon Gray gets the start today with a 4-1 record in his nine starts. Gray has a 3.02 ERA and an even better 2.20 road ERA. He's also allowed just two total runs over his last three starts (20 innings). I like the Rangers today, especially on the mound with a big edge with Gray today. Play Texas. |
05-23-23 | Tigers -115 v. Royals | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 40 m | Show |
AL Central clash here tonight has the Kansas City Royals hosting the Detroit Tigers. The first place Twins are the only team with a record above .500 and that's barely at 25-23. Detroit is second, 2 1/2 games back with a 21-24 record and Kansas City is last 11.5-games back at 14-35. Detroit will start Eduardo Rodriquez, arguably their best pitcher. While his record is only 4-3, his ERA is a fine 2.06 and in his last seven starts just 1.16. Rodriquez has also allowed zero runs in four of his start this season. The Kansas City Royals are yet to name their starter as of this writing. That doesn't matter to me since my pick on this game is because of Rodriquez against any Royals pitcher. I like this guy a lot and expect a win tonight for Detroit. |
05-22-23 | Dodgers v. Braves -135 | Top | 8-6 | Loss | -135 | 20 h 20 m | Show |
Battle of first place teams here on Monday has the NL West leading Dodgers traveling to Atlanta to take on the NL East leading Braves. The Braves lead the Mets by five games. The Braves beat the Mariners on Sunday, 3-2 as they took two of the three games in the series. The Braves returned home to play Seattle after a six game road trip that saw them go 1-5. The Dodgers just dropped three of four games at St Louis as their pitching really let them down, allowing 27 runs. This road trip doesn't get any easier to as they head to Atlanta. The Dodgers are forced to start Gavin Stone here today as they have recently lost May and Urias to injuries. Stone has one start this year and that was vs the Phillies where he gave up four runs over four innings of work. Stone is supposed to be a star in the Dodgers farm system so we'll see if that will emerge in the "show." Atlanta will send Charlie Morton to the hill today. Morton is 5-3 in his eight starts with a nice 2.85 ERA. Morton has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his eight starts. He's only allowed two runs in his last two starts (12 2/3 innings). I will take Morton and the Braves here today as the Dodgers bullpen has to be spent after that St Louis series. Play Atlanta. |
05-21-23 | Tigers v. Nationals -123 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 55 m | Show |
The Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals close out their set here on Sunday. The teams have split the first two games with Detroit taking Friday contest, 8-6 and the Nationals taking Saturday's, 5-2. The Tigers are still in 2nd place in the AL Central even though they have a losing record at 20-23 and a negative run differential at -49. The good news is that they are jut 3.5 games back of first place Minnesota. The Nationals are in last in the NL East with a 19-27 record, 9.5 games back of first place Atlanta. Joey Wentz will start today for the Tigers with a 1-3 record and 6.38 ERA. He's been slightly better on the road with a 6.00 ERA. The Nationals will start Josiah Gray. Despite his 3-5 overall record, Gray has a nice 2.73 ERA. He's allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. I like Gray a lot here to win the series for the Nats today. Play Washington. |
05-19-23 | Twins -119 v. Angels | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -119 | 10 h 52 m | Show |
The Minnesota Twins lost their last game at the LA Dodgers on a Grand Slam in the 8th by rookie James Outman. The Twins dropped two of three to the Dodgers but remain in 1st place in the AL Central. No other team in the division has a .500 or better mark. The Twins will stay in LA and take on the Angels tonight. The Angels are in 3rd place in the AL West with a 23-23 record. The Angels coming off a four game split at Baltimore. They will start Reid Detmers here today. Detmers is 0-3 in his seven starts with a 4.89 ERA. The Twins will counter with Joe Ryan. Ryan is 6-1 on the season with a nifty 2.16 ERA. He's only allowed three runs over his last four starts (25 total innings). Big edge here tonight to the Twins. I'll take Minnesota. |
05-13-23 | Rays -128 v. Yankees | Top | 8-9 | Loss | -128 | 5 h 35 m | Show |
AL East clash here on Saturday has the best team in baseball, the Rays, taking on the last place Yankees. This is the best division in baseball, as not only are all five teams above the .500 mark but all five teams have a plus run differential. No other division in baseball comes close. The Yankees are nine games back so this matchup, while early, is big for the Yankees. The Yankees won game one of this series on Friday with a 6-5 victory by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 8th to grab the win. Nestor Cortes will start for the Yankees. Cortes is 3-2 in his seven starts with a 4.74 ERA. For the most part Cortes has been good, but he did allow seven runs over five innings two starts ago. The Rays will counter with Shane McClanahan. McClanahan is 7-0 in his eight starts with the team winning all eight. He has a great ERA of 1.76 and a WHIP of 1.130. How consistent has McClanahan been? He has not allowed more than two runs in any of his eight starts. Best team in baseball with arguably the best pitcher in baseball. I'll take that combo here today. Play the Rays. |
05-09-23 | Rays -121 v. Orioles | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -121 | 16 h 16 m | Show |
Tampa Bay is the best team in baseball and they continue to prove it day in and day out. They beat the very good Orioles on Monday, 3-0 as the Rays pitchers scattered seven hits over the game. Tampa is now 29-7 and 6.5-games in front of the Orioles. They have won two straight games and eight of their last 10. The Rays also have a MLB best +118 run differential. The Rays will start Zach Eflin today. Eflin is 4-0 in his five starts with a nice 2.25 ERA. He's coming off a game vs the Pirates where he allowed no runs and three hits over seven innings. The Orioles look to snap a 3-game losing streak here tonight. Grayson Rodriguez will start tonight. He's 1-0 in his six starts with a 5.46 ERA. After having two scoreless outings, Rodriguez gave up eight hits and six runs to the Royals in his last outing. I'm sticking with the best team in baseball tonight with a very good pitcher on the hill. Play Tampa Bay. |
05-06-23 | Twins -107 v. Guardians | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -107 | 17 h 39 m | Show |
Minnesota got the shut-out win over the Guardians on Friday, 2-0. That improved the Twins to 19-14 and four games ahead of second place Detroit. The Guardians are in third place with a 14-18 record, 4.5-games back. The Twins are the only team in the AL Central with a positive run differential at +29 Runs. The Twins will start Sonny Gray today. Gray has been amazing this year and an early Cy Young candidate. Gray is 4-0 in his six starts with a 0.77 ERA and 1.057 WHIP. Gray has allowed one run in three of his six starts and no runs in the other three. The Guardians will count with Logan T Allen today who will be making his major league debut. He was supposed to start on April 22nd but the game was postponed. Allen was the team's no 8 prospect. Either way Gray pitching too well for me to pass on the Twins today. Play Minnesota. |
05-05-23 | Dodgers -113 v. Padres | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -113 | 25 h 54 m | Show |
The Dodgers and Padres begin a big series here in the NL West from Petco park. The Dodgers are in 1st place in the West, 1.5-games ahead of the D'backs and 2-games ahead of the third place Padres. The Padres welcomed back Fernando Tatis Jr from his suspension this last week. That provides a big life to this Padres offense which has a -9 run differential. The will face a Dodgers team that has been hitting home runs in bunch. Max Muncy hit a walk off grand slam the other night against the Phillies in the LA win, 10-6. The Dodgers are 1st in the NL and 2nd in baseball only to the Rays in home runs (54). The Dodgers also lead the NL in walks (146). The Padres will start Joe Musgrove today. Musgrove makes only his third start with a 1-0 record and 10.80 ERA. He's coming off a bad start vs the Giants where he allowed six hits and seven runs over 3 1/3 innings. The Dodgers will toss veteran Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw is having a fine season with a 5-1 record in his six starts and a 1.89 ERA. He's allowed just one earned run over his last three starts (20 innings) with 24 KO's and just one walk. Kershaw looks a lot like the Kershaw of old and with Musgrove not showing much, I'll take the Dodgers at this low price. |

04-25-23 | Padres v. Cubs -120 | Top | 0-6 | Win | 100 | 17 h 48 m | Show |
The Chicago Cubs have dropped two straight games and to third in the NL Central, three-games back of Pittsburgh. The Cubs have the top run differential in the national league at +39 runs. The Cubs had Monday off as they begin their set at home with San Diego here on Tuesday. The San Diego Padres are just 12-12 on the season and one game back of the Diamondbacks in third place. They have won two straight and have a -13 run differential on the season. The Padres will start Blake Snell here on Tuesday. Snell is 0-3 in his four starts with a 6.00 ERA. Snell has struggled with his control, walking 12 batters compared to just 12 KO's. Justin Steele will toe the rubber today for the Cubbies. Steele is 3-0 in his four starts with a nifty 1.44 ERA. HE's been even better at home with a 1-0 record in two starts and a 0.75 ERA. The Cubs at home today with the much better starter on the hill is who I will be putting my play on. Play the Cubs. |
04-24-23 | Red Sox v. Orioles +100 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 17 h 56 m | Show |
The Baltimore Orioles improved to 14-7 after their 10 inning win over the Tigers on Sunday, 2-1. The O's are in 2nd place in the AL East, 4.5-games back of the fast starting Rays who are 19-3. Baltimore has won six straight games and eight of their last 10 and have a +18 run differential. The O's begin a 3-game set here today with the Boston Red Sox. Dean Kremer will get his fifth start of the season here today. Kremer is 1-0 with a 6.16 ERA on the season. He's coming off his best start, going 6 2/3 innings vs the Nationals, allowing four hits and no runs for the win. The Red Sox got back above the .500 mark after their win over the Brewers on Sunday, 12-5. The Red Sox are still in last place in the AL East, the toughest division in baseball thus far as all five teams are above the .500 mark. Boston has won seven of its last 10 games and has a +11 run differential. Chris Sale makes his fifth start of the season today. Sale is 1-1 with a 8.00 ERA. Like Kremer, Sale is coming off his best start of the season, going six innings vs the Twins and allowing three hits and one run. Both pitchers looking to keep their good momentum going here today. I'll take the basically pick price on the Orioles at home. Play Baltimore. |
04-10-23 | Mariners -140 v. Cubs | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -140 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
The AL West doesn't seem to have any one team making a run as of yet as the top four teams are 1.5 games separation. That includes the Mariners who are 4-6. The M's took two of three games from their set with the Guardians, losing Sunday's game, 6-7. Luis Castillo makes his third start of the season. Castillo has been brilliant thus far, going 11 2/3 total innings and allowing just three total hits and NO runs with 12 KO's and two walks. The Cubs are 4-4 to start the season. Chicago took two of their three games from the Rangers, but lost Sunday 2-8. Drew Smyly makes his second start after a bad first one. He went 4 2/3 innings vs the Reds, allowing nine hits and seven runs for the loss. I like Castillo a lot who looks to be in mid-season for here already. Play the Mariners. |
04-08-23 | Astros v. Twins -113 | Top | 6-9 | Win | 100 | 5 h 47 m | Show |
Oddsmakers made this one basically a pick'em between slumping Houston and Minnesota. I have to disagree with them as I made the Twins a much higher favorite, mainly due to Joe Ryan of the Twins. Ryan had a fine first start, allowing just three hits and one run over six innings to get the win. The Twins are 5-2 on the season after taking game one of this series on Friday, 3-2. The pitching and bullpen as been excellent, allowing two runs or fewer in four of their six games. Houston is off to a slow 3-5 start after losing four of their last five games. Luis Garcia making his second start after taking the loss in game one vs the White Sox, 3-6. Garcia went five innings, allowed seven hits and three runs in the loss. I like the Twins here today with Ryan on the hill. |
04-07-23 | Rangers v. Cubs -120 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 12 m | Show |
Interleague action here today has the Texas Rangers playing at the Chicago Cubs. The Rangers have the early lead in the AL West with a 4-2 record. They also have the best run differential in the division at +14 runs. They are coming off a win vs Baltimore on Wednesday, 5-2, snapping a two-game losing streak. Nathan Eovaldi will get the start today, his second of the season. Eovaldi went five innings in his first start against the Phillies for the WIN, allowing six hits and three runs. The Cubs are 2-3 on the season. The Cubs got rained out on Wednesday so Marcus Stroman, today's starter, got an extra day of rest. Stroman got the opening day win over Milwaukee, 4-0, going six innings, allowing three hits and striking out 8 batters. I'm going to take the Cubs here on Friday at home with a very good Stroman on the hill. Play Cubs. |
04-06-23 | Nationals v. Rockies -148 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 13 m | Show |
The Washington Nationals hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Colorado. They are coming off a opening season home stand that found them 1-5 and outscored 17 to 38 in the process. They will send Josiah Gray to the hill today. Gray opened the season with a loss to the Braves, going five innings and allowing seven hits and five runs. The Rockies are 2-4 to start the season and play their first home game after a six game stint to open the season on the road. The Rockies opened with two wins before dropping their last four games. Kyle Freeland, who got one of those wins, makes his second start here today. Freeland went six innings and allowed just three hits and no runs to the Padres. He will face a much weaker hitting team today in the Nats. I like the Rockies with Freeland who should have little trouble with this game. Play Colorado. |
04-02-23 | Blue Jays v. Cardinals -110 | Top | 4-9 | Win | 100 | 2 h 9 m | Show |
Toronto and St Louis have split the first two games of this 3-game set. The Jays took the opening game 10-9 and then lost game two on Saturday, 1-4. Chris Bassitt will start today for the Blue Jays. Bassitt was 15-9 last season with a 3.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Jordan Montgomery will start for the Cards. He was 9-6 last season with a 3.48 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Montgomery was much better at home last year, posting a 7-2 record and 3.31 ERA. I'll take the Cardinals here on Sunday. |
11-03-22 | Astros -143 v. Phillies | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 36 m | Show |
We won our World Series Game of the Year on Wednesday with the Astros as Cristiano Javier and the Astros bullpen combined for a NO-hitter en route to a 5-0 win and tied the series at 2-2. Today, Justin Verlander is back on the mound. Verlander had one of his rare bad outings last time out vs the Phillies when he allowed five runs over six innings as the Astros lost 5-6. Today, he's back to redeem himself and get back to that ERA that is 2.18 on the season an d a 19-4 record. The Phillies had five home runs in game three then couldn't get a hit in game four. Noah Syndergaard was scheduled to start earlier in the series but that game got postponed. Now he's back to start only his second postseason game. His first came vs the Braves where he went just three innings and allowed one hit and one run. Syndergaard is just 10-10 on the season with a 3.98 ERA. I look for Verlander to come back with a good game here as he shuts down the Phillies. Play Houston. |
11-02-22 | Astros -108 v. Phillies | Top | 5-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 57 m | Show |
Houston hadn't lost a postseason game until the World Series. Now they find themselves down 1-2 in this best of seven series. The Phillies used the long ball to rout the Astros on Tuesday, 7-0. Bryce Harper got it started with a 2-run shot and the Phils added four more round trippers. The Astros find this to be a pivotal game here as they can ill afford to go down 1-3 in the World Series. They turn to arguably their hottest pitcher in Cristian Javier. Javier is 12-8 on the season, however he's gone five straight starts without allowing a run. That includes a one hit effort over the Yankees in the ALCS that the Astros won 5-0. His streak is now 28 2/3 innings without allowing a run to go with 34 KO's and just 9 walks. The Phillies turn to Aaron Nola who is 13-14 overall on the season. Nola makes his fifth postseason start tonight. He's 2-1 in the postseason. Nola got roughed up in his last two starts, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings to the Astros and six runs in 4 2/3 innings to the Padres. That's 11 runs over his last nine innings. I really like the way Javier has pitched and this is a great price and spot for the Astros. My World Series Game of the Year is on the Houston Astros in Game 4. |
10-18-22 | Phillies v. Padres -114 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -114 | 8 h 32 m | Show |
This was the new season for this playoff format where we had three wildcard teams and the top two teams in the division got a first round bye. So after the dust settled the top four teams in the National League, including the 111 win LA Dodgers are all gone. The Dodgers, Braves, Mets are all gone with the No 5 seeded Padres hosting the No 6 seeded Phillies in game one tonight. The Padres used great pitching and an amazing bullpen along with timely hitting to upset the heavily favored Dodgers. And tonight no one has been bigger for the Padres than Yu Darvish. Darvish was 18-8 on the season, including big wins over the Mets and Dodgers in the playoffs. He held the Mets to one run over seven innings and the Dodgers to three runs over five innings. His ERA this year is 3.09 and 2.60 at home. The Phillies will start Zack Wheeler tonight. Wheeler was 12-8 overall on the season and held the Cardinals to no runs over 6 1/3 innings and the Braves to three runs over six innings in his two postseason starts. I really like Darvish and the Padres pen as they take game one here tonight. |
10-07-22 | Mariners v. Blue Jays -128 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -128 | 16 h 57 m | Show |
AL Wild Card action here on Friday has the Seattle Mariners traveling North of the border to take on the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays finished with the top Wild Card spot as the Mariners snuck in for the 2nd spot. Both these clubs have won seven of their last 10 games. Seattle will start Luis Castillo who is 8-6 on the season with a 2.99 ERA. Toronto will counter with Alek Manoah who is 16-7 on the season with a 2.24 ERA. He's been even better of late, going 4-1 in his last seven starts with a 0.94 ERA. I like the way Manoah has been pitching and the Jays have home field here today. I'll take Toronto. |
09-30-22 | Mets v. Braves +120 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 120 | 7 h 27 m | Show |
This looks to be the biggest series in baseball this weekend. The NY Mets and Atlanta Braves both fighting for the NL East title with the loser getting the top Wild Card spot. Right now the Mets lead the Braves by one game in the standings. The Mets are a favorite here in this first game. But for me, I'm a big shocked by this. The Mets start Jacob deGrom who is 5-3 with a 2.93 ERA. However, he has not been all that sharp of late, allowing 11 runs over his last 15 innings. And, when we look at the Braves, they are starting Max Fried who is 13-7 with a 2.50 ERA. But Fried has been very good of late, allowing five total runs over his last four starts (22 innings). The Braves lose this game and I believe they are done for the division title. Take the Braves as a small dog here in what I see is their must win spot. Play Atlanta. |
09-29-22 | Rays -115 v. Guardians | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 60 m | Show |
The ever changing AL Wild Card positions are tight as we head into the last games of the regular season. The Tampa Bay Rays are in 2nd place in the race, 1.5-games back of Toronto and a half game ahead of third place Seattle. Meanwhile, the Indians have nothing at stake as they have clinched the AL Central and just await the playoffs and who they will face. Right now the Indians look to face the third place Wild Card team, which could be these Rays. The Rays will turn to Jeffrey Springs today. Springs is 8-4 on the season with a 2.79 ERA. He's been better of late, posting a 4-1 record in his last seven starts and a 2.67 ERA. Cleveland will counter with Cal Quantrill who is 14-5 on the season with a 3.49 ERA. Quantrill has also been better of late with a 5-0 mark his last seven and a 2.52 ERA. Good pitching matchup here tonight, but the Rays have more at stake and I'll take them in this one. Play Tampa Bay. |
09-28-22 | Royals v. Tigers -125 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 16 m | Show |
Nice comeback for us on Tuesday night as we had the Tigers and they rallied to force extra innings and won it in the bottom of the 10th, 4-3. So we are coming back with them again here today. The Royals will send Daniel Lynch to the hill today with a 4-11 record and 5.06 ERA. That number goes up of late with a 0-4 record and 6.48 ERA in his last seven starts. The Tigers have now won four straight games and six of their last seven games. Matt Manning will toe the rubber today for the Tigers with a 2-3 record in his 12 starts and a 3.43 ERA. He's been a bit better at home with his ERA dropping to 2.52 in seven starts. I like the Tigers to continue their winning ways here tonight. |
09-21-22 | Cardinals v. Padres -130 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 53 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals have locked up the NL Central, taking a 8.5-game lead over the Brewers. The Brewers only hope is a Wild Card, but they are 2.5 games out right now. The Padres are in 2nd in the Wild Card race, 1.5 games ahead of their place Philly and four games ahead of Milwaukee. The Cardinals have lost two straight, including last night's open game with the Padres, 0-5. In fact, the Cardinals have now scored just one run combined in their last three games. Miles Mikolas will start tonight with a 11-12 record in 30 starts with a 3.46 ERA. He's been slightly worse on the road with a 4.56 ERA. Meanwhile the Padres have won four straight games. Blake Snell starts tonight with a 7-9 record in his 21 starts and a 3.93 ERA. I'm taking the Padres here as the Cardinals really have nothing to play for at this point. |
09-20-22 | Blue Jays -118 v. Phillies | Top | 18-11 | Win | 100 | 8 h 46 m | Show |
Two teams both in the Wild Card races meet here on Tuesday in Philly. The Phillies are in 3rd place for that final Wild Card slot in the NL, just a half game back of 2nd place San Diego and 2.5 ahead of fourth place Milwaukee. The Blue Jays are in 1st place in the Wild Card race, a half one game ahead of the Rays and 1.5-games ahead of the Mariners. Every game is critical for both clubs. The Jays took two of three from the Orioles over the weekend, though they did lose on Sunday, 4-5. Ross Stripling starts today with a 7-4 record and 2.82 ERA. Stripling hasn't allowed more than three runs in his last 16 starts. The Phils have lost four straight games as they looks to Kyle Gibson to get them back on the win column. Gibson is 10-6 with a 4.45 ERA. He's not been quite as good as Stripling, nor have the Phillies. I'm going to take the Rays here today. |
09-16-22 | Mariners -150 v. Angels | Top | 7-8 | Loss | -150 | 13 h 54 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners are tied for first place in the AL Wild Card race with the Toronto Blue Jays. Both teams lead their place Tampa Bay by a half game and fourth place Baltimore by 4.5-games. It's anyone's race as all three teams can finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd. That makes every game very important, especially today at the Angels. The Mariners' had yesterday off and will start Robbie Ray here today. Ray is 12-9 on the season with a 3.56 ERA. He's been hot of late, going 4-1 in his last seven starts with a 2.05 ERA. The Angels will counter with Michael Lorenzen who is 6-6 with a 4.70 ERA. He's been worse of late, going 1-4 in his last seven with a 6.62 ERA. The M's look to stay in first place in the Wild Card race as they win tonight. |
09-15-22 | Phillies -125 v. Marlins | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 23 m | Show |
The Braves or Mets will have the top spot in the NL Wild Card locked-up, depending on which team takes the division. That leaves two spots left and the Phillies hold a 2.5-game lead right now over third place San Diego with the Brewers 2-back of the Padres. The Phillies have won five straight games after taking the first two in this series with the Marlins. They have held Miami to just one run in each game. In addition, they have won seven of their last eight games. Noah Syndergaard will start today for the Phils. He's 9-9 in his 22 starts with a 4.09 ERA. The Marlins have lost two straight games and five of their last six. Pablo Lopez will start for the fish with a 8-10 record in his 28 starts and a 4.10 ERA. He's been worse lately with a 1-4 record in his last seven games and a 6.17 ERA. I'll stick with the hot Phillies here tonight. |
09-13-22 | Padres v. Mariners -105 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -105 | 11 h 6 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners are tied for the top AL Wild Card spot with Toronto at 79-61. They now have a 5.5-game lead over 4th place Baltimore. Meanwhile in the NL, the Padres holding onto 3rd place in the Wild Card race, 2-games ahead of fourth place Milwaukee. The Padres look to snap a 2-game losing streak as they come off a series with the Dodgers where they lost two of the three games. Yu Darvish has been one of their best this year with a 13-7 record and 3.31 ERA. The Mariners will counter with Logan Gilbert who is 12-5 in his 28 starts with a 3.28 ERA. Gilbert has allowed no runs over his last two starts (12 innings). Should be a very good game and series here tonight. I'll take Seattle in this one. |
09-07-22 | Twins v. Yankees -142 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 59 m | Show |
Game 1 of this doubleheader as the Yankees are desperate to stop their slide. Just a few months ago the Yankees led the AL East by 15 games. Now, it's down to just 4.5-games over the Rays. Domingo German will try and get the Yankees back on the right path in game one here on Wednesday. German is 2-3 in his nine starts with a 3.12 ERA. He's been very good of late, allowing two runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. The Minnesota Twins are a team that lead a good portion of this only to fall back to second place in the AL Central, 1.5-games back of the Guardians. The Twins will throw Louie Varland into the fire today as he will be making his major league debut here in game one. Varland was the Twins' Minor League pitcher of the Year for 2021. Both teams need wins, but I'll take the Yankees here in game one with German. |
08-31-22 | Dodgers +149 v. Mets | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
A battle of the top National League teams as the Dodgers and Mets play game two of their series. The Dodgers won game one on Tuesday in a nail-biter, 4-3. Today we get a great pitching matchup as 12-2 Tyler Anderson of the Dodgers will face 3-1 Jacob deGrom of the Mets. The Dodgers won three straight games and Anderson has a 2.71 ERA and a 2.08 ERA in his last seven starts. deGrom has a 2.15 ERA and a 1.53 ERA at home. deGrom has just five starts but has been very good since his return. Dodgers a farily big dog here and how often this year will we get them at this price? Probably not again. I'll take the value with the dog Dodgers here today. |
08-30-22 | Phillies v. Diamondbacks +124 | Top | 3-12 | Win | 124 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
The Phillies look to snap a 2-game losing streak here tonight as they game two of this series in Arizona tonight. The Phillies still hold onto the 2nd NL Wild Card slot right now, 1.5-games ahead of the Padres and 3-games ahead of the Brewers. The Phils will start Aaron Nola tonight who is 9-10 in his 25 starts with a 3.08 ERA. Arizona just came off a three-game sweep of the White Sox and then took game one of this series with the Phillies last night, 13-7, despite trailing 1-7 in the early innings. Zach Gallen has been excellent for the D'backs with a 9-2 record in his 24 starts and a 2.73 ERA. He's been on fire of late, going 5-0 in his last seven starts with a 0.80 ERA. I get Gallen as a dog here tonight, that's too much to pass on for me. Take Arizona. |
08-20-22 | Angels -158 v. Tigers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -158 | 3 h 43 m | Show |
The Angels took game one of this series with the Tigers on Friday, 1-0. Neither team will be going to the postseason, and it's a extreme longshot for either team to get break the .500 mark. Ried Detmers will start today for the Angels with a 4-3 record in his 18 games with a 3.45 ERA. Detmers has been even better of late, going 2-0 in his last seven starts with a 2.41 ERA. Detmers has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. The Tigers look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight. The bullpen hasn't been much use of late, posting a 7.32 ERA in their last seven games. Tyler Alexander looks for his first win of the season here today after posting a 0-7 mark in his first eight games. Alexander has a 5.67 ERA. I'll stick with the Angels here today as not much confidence can be put in the Tigers and Alexander. |
08-16-22 | A's +106 v. Rangers | Top | 5-1 | Win | 106 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The Oakland A's look to snap a 9-game losing streak here tonight in Texas. The A's dropped Monday's contest in game one of this set with the Rangers, 1-2. They will turn to JP Sears to get things back in the win column. Sears has only three starts, but they have been very good starts. He's 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. Sears has allowed no runs in two of his three outings this season. The Rangers have won three straight games including taking two of three from the Mariners. The Rangeers' will debut Kohei Arihara today as he makes his 2022 debut. Arihara was called up from Triple-A Round Rock where he had a 4.18 ERA in 18 games (14 starts). Sears has impressed me thus far and I'm not sure Arihara will do the same for the Rangers. I'll take the A's tonight. |
08-09-22 | Yankees v. Mariners +122 | Top | 0-1 | Win | 122 | 11 h 27 m | Show |
The Yankees snapped their 5-game losing streak with their win over the Mariners on Monday, 9-4. Yankees have little doubt of winning the AL East, but are happy to get back in the win column. Gerrit Cole makes the start today with a 9-4 record in his 22 starts and a 3.56 ERA. He's been slightly worse lately with a 3-2 record in his last seven starts and a 4.70 ERA. The Mariners have their eyes set on a AL Wildcard spot and they went out and picked up today's starter, Luis Castillo, just to achieve that. Castillo makes his second start for the M's and gets a rematch with the Yankees and Cole for his second start. Castillo beat the Yankees last week, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing three runs. I like the M's to bounce back here tonight with their newest pitcher on the hill. Play Seattle. |
08-08-22 | Yankees v. Mariners -102 | Top | 9-4 | Loss | -102 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
The Yankees hope a new series here on Monday will break their current 5-game losing streak. The Yankees were swept by the red-hot Cardinals in their three game series and lost two of three in the previous series to the Mariners. Jameson Taillon will start for the Yankees today. Taillon is having a fine season at 10-2 with a 3.96 ERA. However, he has struggled a bit lately with a 2-1 record in his last seven games and a 5.71 ERA. The Mariners making a big push for one of the new Wild Card spots by bolstering their pitcher staff with Luis Castillo. The M's have won four of their six games though they are coming off a four-game split with the LA Angels. Their top pitcher gets the start today in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-4 with a 3.16 ERA though a slightly higher 4.54 ERA his last seven starts. I'll take the M's at home and I'll see if I can still get them as a slight dog here. Play Seattle. |
08-07-22 | Yankees v. Cardinals +120 | Top | 9-12 | Win | 120 | 5 h 60 m | Show |
I was on the Cardinals yesterday as I looked for Montgomery to show his old team, the Yankees, that they should have let him go. And he did just that, shutting out NY as the Cards won, 1-0. The Yankees in an uncharacteristic 4-game losing skid as they head into today's contest. Frankie Montas makes his Yankees debut today as he looks to avoid the Cardinals sweep. Montas comes over from the Athletics. Montas was 4-9 with a 3.18 ERA with the A's. The St Louis Cardinals are in 1st place in the NL Central, thanks to a 6-game win streak. They look for sweep today, holding the Yankees to three runs in their first two games. Adam Wainwright will start today for the Cardinals with a 8-8 record and 3.11 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 4-3 record and 1.79 ERA. Cardinals are a dog today and for me that's a very live dog with their momentum and the better pitcher on the mound. Take the Cardinals. |
08-06-22 | Pirates v. Orioles -149 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show |
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to even their I.L. series with the Baltimore Orioles here today. The Pirates lost their opener on Friday, 0-1. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak by Pittsburgh. They will send J.T. Brubaker to the hill today. Brubaker has had a rough season with a 2-9 record and 4.40 ERA. He is also coming off a terrible start where he allowed 12 hits and seven runs over 4 1/3 innings to the Phillies. The Orioles won their fourth straight game on Friday. The pitching staff has been very good, allowing three runs or fewer in each of their last five games. The bullpen has been solid all year, with a 3.08 ERA and a 2.33 home ERA. Austin Voth gets the start today. Voth is 1-1 in his seven starts with a nice 2.77 ERA. Voth has allowed just one earned run over his last two starts (8 innings). I'll take the O's here tonight to keep their win streak going. |
08-05-22 | Rockies v. Diamondbacks -125 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 56 m | Show |
Colorado salvaged the final game of their four game set with the Padres, taking Thursday's contest 7-3. That snapped a five-game losing streak for the Rockies. The Rockies will start German Marquez today who is 6-9 in his 20 starts with a 5.29 ERA. Arizona has lost five of their six games after Thursday's setback at Cleveland, 4-7. They will send veteran Madison Bumgarner to the hill today. Bumgarner is 6-10 in his 21 starts with a 3.83 ERA. He's been slightly better at home with a 5-3 record and 3.03 ERA. The Rockies haven't done well on the road, going 17-36 over their last 53 away games. That includes teams with losing records as they are just 5-13 in their last 18 on the road vs those clubs. Meanwhile, Arizona has won five of their last six home games. I'll take the D'backs here today. |

08-03-22 | Mariners +156 v. Yankees | Top | 7-3 | Win | 156 | 3 h 32 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners made a serious commitment to making the playoffs this year with the acquisition of the top pitcher in the trade market, Luis Castillo. The Mariners have made big strides, especially heading into the All-Star Break. They have won 18 of their last 24 games to 56-49 overall. While they likely won't catch Houston, they are a contender for one of the new Wild Card slots. Castillo makes his first start for the Mariners here today and it will be against the best team in the A.L, the NY Yankees. The Yankees will start Garrit Cole today. Cole is 9-3 in his 21 starts with a 3.30 ERA. He is coming off one of his poorer starts, going six innings and giving up seven hits and five runs to the Royals. I'm going to take a shot with a nice dog price on Seattle here today. The Yankees haven't seen Castillo and he might just shock them with a win. Play Seattle. |

07-31-22 | Rangers v. Angels -111 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -111 | 14 h 55 m | Show |
The Angels with the big comeback win on Saturday. LA was down 7-5 going into the bottom of the 9th when they put a five spot on the board to win, 9-7. The Rangers had taken the first two games of this four-game set with LA, 7-2 and 2-0 before that bad loss on Saturday. Dane Dunning will look to get them back on the win track today. However, he's just 1-6 in his 19 starts with a 4.38 ERA. More important the Rangers are 0-10 in his 10 road starts. The Angels will counter with Reid Detmers today. Detmers is 3-3 in his 15 starts with a 3.84 ERA. He's been better of late with a 2.88 ERA over his last seven starts. He's also allowed just two earned runs over his last three starts (17 innings). I'll take the Angels here in the final game against a Rangers' pitcher that has yet to get a team win on the road. Take the Angels. |

07-30-22 | Brewers -100 v. Red Sox | Top | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 7 m | Show |
Milwaukee extended their win streak to 3-games with their win over Boston on Friday, 4-1. The Brewers are maintaining their 3-game lead in the NL Central over St Louis. Eric Lauer gets the start today for the Brewers with a 6-3 record in his 18 starts and a 3.85 ERA. Boston can't seem to string any win's together, having lost eight of their last 10 games. Nick Pivetta will start today with a 8-7 record in his 20 starts and a 4.35 ERA. Pivetta has been a bit worse of late, posting a 2-2 record in his last seven games with a 6.00 ERA. I'm sticking with the 1st place Brewers here tonight with a slightly better starter on the hill. Play Milwaukee. |
07-29-22 | Twins v. Padres -110 | Top | 1-10 | Win | 100 | 17 h 57 m | Show |
Both these clubs had Thursday off to prepare for this InterLeague matchup in San Diego as the Padres host the Twins. The Twins lead the AL Central but that lead has dwindled to just 1.5 games over the Guardians. The Twins look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight after being swept in Milwaukee. The Twins will start Joe Ryan here tonight, their pitcher with the most wins at 7-3. Ryan has a 2.89 ERA but has been slightly worse of late with a 2-1 record and 3.58 ERA over his last seven starts. The Padres hopes of a NL West title are fading as they are now 11.5-games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. The Padres still have to fight for one of the new Wild Card slots though. Blake Snell will start for the Padres tonight. Snell is 2-5 with a 4.74 ERA. He is coming off one of his best starts, allowing four hits and no runs over five innings to the Mets. I like the Padres as I hope Snell's last start is just an indication of what's to come for him. Play San Diego. |
07-28-22 | Mariners +125 v. Astros | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 11 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners completed their 3-game sweep of the Texas Rangers with a win on Wednesday, 4-2. After that big 14-game win streak the club lost three straight and now has won three in a row. They will travel to Houston here tonight to start a 4-game series. They trail the Astros by 10-games in the AL West, but have a good shot at a Wild Card slot. Their top pitcher takes to the hill tonight in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-4 in his 20 starts with a 2.85 ERA. Gilbert has been slightly better on the road with a 6-1 record and 2.42 ERA. The Astros return home following a six game road trip that saw them lost all three at Oakland, two of those games as -2.00 favorites. Jose Urquidy will start today with a 9-4 record and 3.93 ERA. Urquidy has been very good for the Astros this year. This should be a very good pitching duel tonight but I'll take the dog price with the Mariners and their Ace on the hill. Play Seattle. |
07-27-22 | Padres -135 v. Tigers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -135 | 2 h 16 m | Show |
The San Diego Padres in a fight right now for a NL Wild Card, as they trail first place LA by 8.5-games in the West. The Padres snapped a two game losing streak with a win over the Tigers on Tuesday, 6-4. Today, they send one of their best pitchers to the hill in Yu Darvish. Darvish is 9-4 in his 18 starts with a 3.28 ERA. He's been even sharper in recent starts with a 4-1 record over his last seven starts and a 2.81 ERA. The Tigers won't be going anywhere this postseason. The Tigers have lost four of their last five games and eight of their last 10 games. Tarik Skubal gets the start today with a 7-8 record in 19 starts and a 3.71 ERA. Skubal has been a decent starter for the Tigers, but the Padres are one of the better road teams in baseball with a very good pitcher on the hill. Your play is on the San Diego Padres. |
07-26-22 | Angels v. Royals -118 | Top | 6-0 | Loss | -118 | 18 h 20 m | Show |
The Kansas City Royals took game one of their series with the Angels on Monday, 7-1. The Angels just can't seem to put back-to-back wins together. The last time the Angels won two in a row you have to go back to June 26 and 27 vs Seattle. The loss on Monday was the club's 6th in their last seven games and and 15th in their last 18 games. Jose Suarez will start today for the Angels as he's looking for his first win in 10 starts. Suarez is 0-4 with a 6.34 ERA and 1.644 WHIP. The Royals win on Monday was their third in a row. Angel Zerpa will make just his second start of the season here tonight. Zerpa is 1-0 and went five innings for the win vs the Blue Jays in his first start. He also gave up just four hits and one run in the win. The Angels have been horrible and they have a bad pitcher on the mound. I'll take a shot with Zerpa here tonight and the Royals. |
07-25-22 | Guardians +100 v. Red Sox | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 32 m | Show |
The Cleveland Guardians trying to make up ground on the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. The Guardians are 48-46 and trail 1st place Minnesota by 3-games. However, losing two straight games doesn't help close that gap. Cleveland split their four game series with the White Sox, taking the first two and losing the last two. Zach Plesac will start for the Guardians tonight. Plesac is 2-7 in his 17 starts with a 3.93 ERA. Plesac has not allowed over three runs in any of his last nine starts. The Red Sox bring a five-game losing streak into today's contest. The Sox lost two of three to the Yankees and then got swept over the weekend by the Blue Jays, getting outscored 10-40 by Toronto. Nick Pivetta will start tonight for the Sox. Pivetta is 8-7 in his 19 starts with a 4.50- ERA. He's coming off two bad starts where he allowed 13 runs over 7 2/3 innings. I'll take the road team here as the Sox look to be in a free fall. Play Cleveland. |
07-24-22 | Blue Jays -139 v. Red Sox | Top | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 13 h 54 m | Show |
Toronto and Boston conclude their series here on Sunday and the Blue Jays looking for the sweep after taking Saturday's contest, 4-1. That makes four wins in a row for Toronto and six of their last seven games. While the Jays have little shot of catching the Yankees in the AL East, they can still garner one of the Wild Cards slots in a newly revamped Wild Card playoff postseason. This year they play the best of three Wild Card round games instead of the one and done format of previous years. Ross Stripling will start for the Jays today with a 4-3 record in his 13 starts and a 2.84 ERA. Stripling has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. He also has a 2.41 ERA over his last seven starts. Boston is seeing their postseason aspirations dwindle as they have lost three straight games and seven of their last eight. Brayan Bello will start today for the Sox with a 0-1 record after two starts. Bello has a 10.13 ERA and has yet to make it past four innings of work. The Jays are hot, they have a hot pitcher on the hill and the Red Sox are struggling. This will have me on Toronto again here on Sunday. Play Toronto. |
07-23-22 | Blue Jays -135 v. Red Sox | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 5 h 25 m | Show |
Toronto realistically fighting for a wild card spot at this point in the AL East as the Yankees are 13.5-games ahead of them. Still, with a 51-43 record the Jays have a good shot at a playoff spot with this year's new Wild Card format. Toronto has won four straight, including a monster blowout win on Friday over the Red Sox, 28-5. That also makes six of their last seven games a win. Alek Manoah will start today for the Jays with a 10-4 record and 2.28 ERA. The Red Sox will try and snap a 3-game losing streak. They have also lost seven of their last eight games as their Wild Card aspirations look to be dwindling. Kutter Crawford gets the start today with a 0-1 record in his four starts and a 3.60 ERA. I'm going to stick with the hot Blue Jays and one of the best pitchers in the American League. Play Toronto. |
07-22-22 | Astros v. Mariners +106 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 19 m | Show |
The Houston Astros opened the 2nd half of the baseball season in fine fashion by taking both ends of a home doubleheader away from the Yankees on Thursday. Now they travel to NorthWest to take on Seattle, arguably the hottest team in baseball. The Astros will send Jose Urquidy to the hill tonight. Urquidy is 8-4 in his 17 starts with a 4.09 ERA and slightly higher 5.20 road ERA. The Mariners hated to see the break come as they are on a 14-game win streak and have leapt into 2nd place in the AL West, 9-games back of the Astros. Marco Gonzales makes the start today for the M's with a 5-9 record in his 18 starts and a 3.50 ERA. The Astros had to play two games yesterday and that will have taken a toll on the players and the bullpen. I'll take the hottest team in baseball here tonight. Play Seattle. |
07-21-22 | Yankees v. Astros -128 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 0 m | Show |
Game one of this doubleheader here has two of the best in the American league and possibly a AL Pennant matchup with the Yankees taking on the Astros. The Yankees closed the first half with two wins over Boston, outscoring the Sox 27-3. Jordan Montgomery gets the start today with a 3-2 record in his 18 starts and a 3.26 ERA. The Houston Astros, like the Yankees, are cruising in their division as they lead the AL West by 9-games over the Seattle Mariners. The Astros will start Cristian Javier today who is 6-5 in his 13 starts with a 3.76 ERA and a 3.11 home ERA. Both teams are very good and both pitchers are top notch. I expect a split here today, but in this one I'm backing the home team. Play Houston. |
07-17-22 | Mariners -122 v. Rangers | Top | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 23 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners remained the hottest team in baseball as we enter the All-Star break. The Mariners won their 13th game in a row on Saturday, though it did take extra innings this time over the Rangers. The Mariners now have Wild Card aspirations with this spurt that has moved them to 50-42 overall. Chris Flexen gets the start today with his 6-8 record in his 17 starts. Flexen has a 3.84 ERA but has been very good during this win streak, winning his last two starts while allowing just one earned run over 12 2/3 innings. The Rangers are in danger of getting the four game sweep by the Mariners today. They will Glenn Otto to the hill to try and get the win. Otto is 4-5 in his 12 starts with a 5.50 ERA. He's been much worse at home with a 2-4 record and 8.07 ERA. I'm going to sick with the red-hot Mariners here on Sunday. Play Seattle. |
07-16-22 | Mariners -134 v. Rangers | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 14 h 7 m | Show |
The Seattle Mariners remain the hottest team in baseball after winning their 12th straight game on Friday over the Rangers, 8-3. They also closed another game on division leader Houston, now trailing by 10-games. Seattle has their best pitcher on the mound today in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert is 10-3 in his 18 starts with a 2.89 ERA. The Rangers dropped their second game in a row with Friday's loss. The bullpen has been hit hard in recent times with a 6.68 ERA over their last seven games. Spencer Howard will get the start here on Saturday. Howard will make his fourth start with a 1-0 record. However, his ERA is a very high 8.25. Hard to go against a red hot team with their best pitcher on the hill. And I won't, I'll be back on the Mariners here today. |
07-14-22 | Red Sox v. Rays -124 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 52 m | Show |
The Boston Red Sox look to avoid a 4-games sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays today. The Sox have lost the first three games of this series, including Wednesday's game, 1-4. The Red Sox trail the Rays for 2nd place in the AL East by 1.5 games. Kutter Crawford looks to make his fourth start of the season here today. Crawford is 0-1 with a 3.21 ERA. The Rays will counter with Drew Rasmussen. Rasmussen is 5-3 in his 14 starts with a 3.10 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 3-0 record (team 5-1) in his six starts and a 1.65 ERA. I'll take the Rays to sweep this series here today. |
