The Broncos will likely be a heavy favorite in every game they play between now and the end of the season. Can the Bulldogs shock the Broncos or will it be more Boise State domination?

Kellen Moore had the worst game of his collegiate career last weekend against Nevada, and the Broncos still won 30-10. Moore uncharacteristically threw two interceptions and finished with just 142 yards through the air. The Boise offense hasn’t been quite as dynamic so far this year. The loss of Austin Pettis and Titus Young has really hurt, and the offensive line has been shaky at times. Doug Martin and D.J. Harper are very talented runners, and I expect them to fare well against Fresno State on Friday night.
While it has always been the offense that gets the attention, Boise State’s defense is extremely good. The Broncos have played four very solid offenses this year, and they have yet to give up more than 21 points. There isn’t a real weakness on this unit, and every player on this defense knows his role.

The Bulldogs have been very inconsistent so far this year. They played Nebraska tough on the road, but then were beaten 38-28 by a poor Mississippi team. Derek Carr (David Carr’s brother) is the sophomore starter at quarterback for the Bulldogs. Carr has all the tools to be a successful quarterback, but he is still learning as he gets more experience. Robbie Rouse is a real workhorse for this Fresno offense. Even though he stands just 5’7, Rouse has been getting 25 carries or more every single game. Jalen Saunders is a great deep threat for this offense. Saunders is averaging 27.2 yards per catch, and he already has four touchdown receptions this year.
Fresno State’s defense has given up the big play far too many times this year. The Bulldogs haven’t played a tough schedule, but they are still giving up 32 points per game. They are particularly weak when it comes to stopping the run.
Boise St vs. Fresno St Free Pick: Boise State -20.5
Don’t expect Kellen Moore to have two bad games in a row. Moore is one of the nation’s best quarterbacks, and Fresno State’s defense simply doesn’t have enough talent to stop the Broncos offense. Last year, Boise State beat Fresno 51-0 at home. It probably won’t be that ugly this time, but I expect Boise State to cover the spread here. The Broncos are 21-7 ATS in their last 28 road games. Take Boise State.
