This Friday, the 2-1 Boise State Broncos will travel to Fresno, CA to challenge the 2-0 Fresno State Bulldogs in what could be a preview of the inaugural Mountain West Conference championship game. The bulldogs will have home field advantage and an extra week’s rest due to the postponing of their week 3 game against Colorado due to flooding. Boise State has a solid team, but they’re not the juggernaut that beat Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl so the Bulldogs are a slight favorite here.

Boise State Broncos vs. Fresno State Bulldogs College Football Preview

College Football Betting Odds from SportsBettingOnline

College Football Betting Favorite: Fresno State -3.5

Total: 68

After barely etching out Rutgers 52-51 in an exciting overtime victory, the Bulldogs routed the Cal Poly Mustangs 41-25. The No. 25 ranking is the Bulldogs’ first top 25 ranking in 5 years. They look to win their 3rd straight home game and go to 1-0 in the division and 3-0 overall for the 1st time since 2004.

Boise St. was defeated by Washington in Seattle 38-6 in week 1. They bounced back against UT Martin in week 2, drumming them 63-14 in their home opener. In week 3, the Broncos crushed conference rival Air Force 42-20, moving to 1-0 in the division. Boise travels to Fresno looking to get their 1st road win of the season and give the Bulldogs their 1st defeat.

Fresno State will look to keep their record unblemished and break a 7 game losing streak to their conference rival. Their offense is ranked No. 11 in the country, and they average 46.5 points per game. The Broncos defense will be able to keep the game close but injuries at line backer, safety, defensive end and defensive tackle will make it difficult for them to keep up with the high powered Bulldogs offense.

Free Pick: Fresno State -3.5

Fresno State is favored by 3.5, because they have more talent than Boise State this year. The blue grass in Boise, Idaho seems to give the Broncos an edge, but I expect the well-rested Bulldogs to defeat Boise State and cover the spread. The Broncos didn’t play well in their 1st road game, and I think the trend will continue as they fall to .500 within the division and 2-2 overall. The Bulldogs have too many advantages for the Broncos to overcome. The environment should be great for college football, and this is a terrific opportunity for Fresno State. Take Fresno State for a small free play.
