Arkansas

This Arkansas team definitely has the ability to surprise a lot of people this season. The offense should be one of the best in the nation and the defense is improving. So far this team hasn’t put it together this year, but if they do, watch out!

Ryan Mallett is the clear leader of this offense at the quarterback position. Mallett is nearly 6’7 and he has tremendous arm strength. He threw for more than 400 yards last week and he actually set a record high for passing yards against Georgia last year in the Razorbacks 52-41 loss. Mallett’s 36 touchdowns compared to 9 nine interceptions in the last 14 games is extremely impressive. It isn’t just a one man show for Arkansas. The wide receivers may be the best trio in the SEC, and they can make plays. The running backs are talented and are solid out of the backfield when it comes to catching the football as well.

The Arkansas defense ranked last in the SEC last year. The defensive front is solid this year, and their depth should help them quite a bit on the front four. The secondary is the problem for Arkansas. The cornerbacks have trouble in man coverage and the safeties tend to let the ball get behind them too often. If this defense can cut down on the big plays they allow, they could surprise some people this year.

Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have been one of the most disappointing teams in the country over the last couple years. Mark Richt and his team have a lot of pressure on them to perform this season. They started out with a big win, but fell last week to South Carolina as they were unable to stop Marcus Lattimore.

The new quarterback under center for Georgia is Aaron Murray. Murray has solid tools, but he’ll definitely take some time to get acquainted in the offense. The Georgia offensive line should be a strength for this team, and they’ll need Ealey and King to do well running the football this year. A.J. Green is suspended right now, and his play making ability is greatly missed right now. Georgia needs the line to protect Murray well and they need to control the football in order to be successful.

The Bulldogs defense is struggling to stop the run this year. Marcus Lattimore chewed up this team last week because they were unable to stop him even when they knew a run was coming. The Bulldogs secondary is solid, which is good news since they are going against a prolific quarterback in Ryan Mallett. In this one Georgia will need to put some pressure on Mallett in order to keep Arkansas from going up and down the field on them.

College Football Betting Trends:

Georgia is 6-0 straight up against Arkansas in their last 6 meetings

Georgia is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games

Arkansas is 5-16 ATS in their last 21 September games

The under is 26-11 in Georgia’s last 37 September games

Arkansas vs. Georgia College Football Pick:

I think Arkansas is the more dangerous team in the long run, but I do believe Georgia matches up well against them. I think the offensive line of Georgia will have an advantage and the Bulldogs will get their running game going in this one. I like Georgia -2 in this one.

Arkansas vs. Georgia Score Prediction: Georgia 27 Arkansas 21
